Mel Gibson thinks “everybody deserves a second chance”

40922f1_gibson_m_b_gr_

So Mel Gibson briefly had a “comeback role” in The Hangover 2. Then people complained (like the actors and the crew), and Mel was fired and instantly replaced with Liam Neeson, an actor and celebrity who has probably never uttered the words “glum c-nt”. The story is over, correct? The world is basically telling Mel to crawl back into his hole and be quiet for a while. But no, Mel won’t do that. Mel’s people publicly reacted to his firing, and they sound so pathetic:

Mel Gibson is furious at producers of “The Hangover Part II” for booting him from the flick, sources say. Gibson’s minor role as a Bangkok tattoo artist was seen as a comeback for his tattered career, but producers were quick to cut him loose when cast members objected to working with him.

A source close to Gibson told us, “He doesn’t understand why Mike Tyson, a drug user who turned his life around, was given a chance while Mel was kicked to the curb. Everybody deserves a second chance.”

Alan Nierob, who represents Gibson and Liam Neeson, issued a statement hinting at resentment over the firing. Nierob said Neeson will replace Gibson in the part, “pending clearance of cast and crew background check,” he quipped. Gibson is embroiled in a legal battle with ex- girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, who alleges he assaulted and threatened her.

[From Page Six]

“Everybody deserves a second chance.” Does Mel think this Oksana situation just counts as “one bad thing”? And that it’s his first? Remember Sugartits? Remember “The Jews are responsible for all the wars”? Remember Mel’s tequila-soaked drive down the Pacific Coast Highway? Or does that not count because he’s the King of Malibu, or whatever? And then the Oksana tapes… and the beating he gave her, and all of the racism and sexism and violent threats. So what “chance” are we on now? Fifth? Ninth? Twentieth?

Now, I’m not saying Mike Tyson didn’t do some sh-t too. He did, and he’s gross and disgusting as well and I’m not defending him. But Tyson did put in the time and effort to redeem himself and change his image. Tyson didn’t attempt a “comeback” two seconds after all the bad sh-t went down.

  1. nnn says:

If he thinks he needs a second chance, then he KNOWS that he did something wrong and that he is guilty of reprehensible acts he did…at least morally let alone in a criminal point of view.

You don’t need to ask for a second chance if you feel you are totally innocent and doesn’t have anything to hide.

Advice for you Mel : APOLOGIZE already for what you did wrong, take responsability then maybe someone will give you that second chance you long for.

No acknowledgement of your responsability in what you did, no second chance.

It’as as simple as that !

  2. mln says:

I want him to address and admit his anti-semitism which probably dates back to his childhood since his father is a documented holocaust denier, then to address and admit to his various outbursts cursing out reporters etc. Then address and admit to the messages he sent Oksana then take a year or two and get therapy, if he apologized for all of his behavoir I might consider watching his movies again.

  3. rosie says:

So Braveheart wants a second chance, aye? He’ll have to stick to financing his own movies methinks. And good luck getting people in the theatres to see them. It seems MG has plenty of money to retire to a nice island somewhere.

  4. Jean says:

    Nobody “deserves” a second chance.
    You have to earn it.
As far as I’m concerned, he already had his “second chance” after his disgusting slurs a couple of years ago.
    Good riddance.

  5. Kitten says:

Oh wahhhh wahhhhh! Boo hoo. This guy is worse that LiLo when it comes to accepting consequences for his sh*tty behavior.

Agree that Tyson IS gross and troubled, but as at least he has shown contrition in the past.
Mel Gibson is a festering sore on society. I really don’t think this man believes he did anything wrong at all. If only they had rehab for racist misogynists.
I look forward to seeing Liam Neeson, a man of fortitude, talent and class-things that Gibson knows nothing about.

  6. Persistent Cat says:

@Jean, you are so right. You have to earn a second chance (or in his case, a third or fourth or fifth, I lost count).

When I heard he was going to be in that movie, I was upset but was so happy to hear about the cast and crew putting their foot down.

  7. Uzi says:

“… and the beating he gave her…”

@Kaiser…I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it until you get it through your thick skull: MEL HAS NOT BEEN CHARGED WITH ANYTHING! Right now this is a he said/she said situation…Mel accusing Oksana of extortion and Oks accusing Mel of DV. There is an ongoing investigation, and the same day that Mel was “fired” from HO2 Oks was ordered by the court to hand over her computer for examination. Your beloved Oks has a history of exageration, embellishment and flat-out lying, which is why so many of us, myself included, are taking the “Mel is innocent until guilty” stance. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, which for some is an unconditional hatred of Mel, but some of us still believe in basic justice.

  8. LOVE ANGELINA says:

I agree with Kaiser. Kinda annoyed people wanna try and bring up Mike Tyson’s name after he has turned over a new leaf. Hell Tyson isn’t even a actor he is a boxer and I think he was banned from that right?

I see no reason to throw Mike’s past in his face. This Mel Gibson thing has nothing to do with Mike. I have been very impressed with Mike’s growth and his clear change.

  9. Jules says:

Eff Gibson, he has had enough chances.

  10. Team Bethenny says:

Mike Tyson went away for a while. A long while. In that time, he stopped fighting, got fat, and lost a daughter. Hopefully one of those things kickstarted some maturity in him. That’s why he was accepted.

Mel, that’s your cue. Go away.

  11. katyalia says:

    I love the rep’s comment.

  12. Whatever says:

It is really soon for a comeback, but I see his point. Tyson is one example and so is Roman Polanski. The man raped a child, yet a horrifying number of people on this very website argued that he should be let go. When did he admit he was wrong and seek forgiveness? And then word came out that there were other rape victims, but he is free and continues to get accolades in Hollywood when he belongs in prison as a repeat sex offender. There is a double standard, definitely.

  13. SallyJay says:

ITA – second chances have to be earned. He has not made even a shred of an apology. Ugh, he makes my skin crawl. Hey Mel? just go away please.

  14. Nanea says:

Mel seems to be very far gone as an alcoholic if he doesn’t get why Tyson was given a chance and he isn’t.

And he doesn’t seem to have any close friends/colleagues any longer who could tell him what he should do to earn a fifth or eighth or whatever chance at a comeback. I mean, if not even his publicist cares enough to make him sober up, there isn’t much hope that Mel will see the light on his own anytime soon, and apologize, not only to Oksana, but to all people he’s ever offended.

  15. nycmom10024 says:

He will probably be allowed another chance most celebs are. However, he wants his redemption a little to soon. Yes, Tyson did get another chance, but many of the target audience for the Hangover are too young to remember or know all his sins.

  16. Diane says:

What is it with people feeling so entitled? Ugh!

  17. Patrik Trimmer says:

Tyson sought professional help for his issues, that stemmed from an abusive and neglectful household. Mike has admitted his demons and went as far as assisting in a documentary chronicling the not so flattering side of his life. I think once Mel admits his problems and tries to get help and work on them, then people will welcome him back. Right now he just looks like an entitled d-bag, and nobody’s gonna be pulling for that type of guy.

  18. Patrik Trimmer says:

BTW I luv that Mel and his team threw Tyson under the bus. I’ve got my kids college money on Tyson if he ever runs into Braveheart.

  19. LittleFATMe says:

What about a third, fourth, fifth – say what number is he on now?

  20. mymy says:

I was wondering has anyone here had an argument they were having while breaking up with a parent of your children broadcast for all to hear? And it looks like PC is firmly being established in Hollywood. Be careful the thought police might have it in for you and your job. And no I am not a fan of Mel Gibson. But I have even seen articles slamming Jolie Foster and trying to blackball her for coming to Mel’s defense as a true friend> now we are living in some very scary times

  21. SammyHammy says:

First he has to admit he has done wrong. Then he has to renounce what he’s done and offer sincere apologies to those he hurt. Then he needs to seek help for his issues (therapy, AA, maybe a few visits to a Holocaust Museum…). Plus some major donations to some worthy organizations.

Once he does all that, I will be willing to get past it and watch his movies again. But we’ll see if he is actually willing to put in the work; after all, he’s already made his fortune.

  22. dorothy says:

By my count he’s had several second chances. Try acting like a decent human being and maybe down the road the public will reconsider.

  23. Ginevra says:

Completely agree. I had the same reaction when I first saw the headline: SECOND chance?! He has already blown that one. Try again in a few years.

  24. a says:

many people would not want see that movie if mel was in it, it’s definitely too soon.

plus, he’s still acting like an entitled baby!

  25. cindy says:

    Narcissistic Rage
When the narcissist’s grandiose sense of self-worth is perceivably being attacked by another person (typically in the form of criticism), the narcissist’s natural reaction is to rage and pull down the self-worth of others (to make the narcissist feel superior to them). It is an attempt by the narcissist to soothe their internal pain and hostility, while at the same time rebuilding their own self-worth. Narcissistic rage should not be confused with anger (although the two are similar), and is not necessarily caused by a situation that would typically provoke anger in an individual.[2] Narcissistic rage also occurs when the narcissist is perceivably being prevented from accomplishing their grandiose fantasies.[3] Narcissistic rage is frequently short-term, and passes when the narcissist rationalizes the shame that they felt.[

  26. nnn says:

Mel sounds and looks insane, always having that rage in him. He is just furious because he is an egomaniac of epic proportions who can’t accept a simple word : NO.

I bet he beleives that the whole Hangover team and the public should just blowwwww him because he deseeerves it.

  27. Johnny Depp's Girl says:

No comment.. I do believe people can have second chances.. Sorry..

  28. Quinn says:

Which second chance of Tyson’s are we talking about? Is it his return after beating and terrorizing Robin Givens? Or is it the one after he was convicted of raping a woman…or is it after biting off that other boxer’s ear in the ring when he was about to loose his fight? I’m just curious.

  29. newlife says:

“Narcissistic rage is frequently short-term, and passes when the narcissist rationalizes the shame that they felt.[ ”

The narcissist rage hasn’t past because he hasn’t felt any shame.

  30. NayNay says:

I think everyone should be giving another chance. He certainly has some mental issues that need to be addressed, and some major counseling is needed. However, nothing has been proven yet, and I have a sinking suspicion that once they seize Oksana’s computer, some truths will be revealed. The world will see, in my opinion, a gold-digger at work. I believe that she plotted this whole thing from day one. I guess she just didn’t know to what extent this would all play out, but she had a goal from day one, MONEY, MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!!!!!

Now, I’m not saying that Mel shouldn’t be accountable for his rants and raves on the tape, but we should all hold on, and wait to see what is shown from her computer. I have a sinking suspicion that the truth should be revealed, and then the world will know what really went down. Then, most of us, will owe Mel a huge apology.

  31. Diana says:

I agree that the only reason Mike Tyson was given a pass is because many people are too young to have known what happened and enough time has passed for everyone elses outrage to simmer down. As far as Tyson having “paid his dues”… he recently admitted he only did The Hangover for drug money. So yeah…not so much.

  32. BiggieShortie says:

Yeah, whatever Mel. I thought you already GOT a second chance following your bigoted tirade at the time of your DUI.
    Fuck off, Mel.

  33. wonderwoman21 says:

Does that mean he believes even Jews and Russians deserve a second chance, or maybe just himself?

  34. original kate says:

“You control film industry and don’t mind using that control to smear someone. Why are you creating the same pre World War II atmosphere here? Look at what you are doing!”

@ #31: this may very well be the dumbest comment i have ever heard. anywhere. ever. does the word “krystallnacht” mean anything to you? how about the name joseph mengele? read a damn history book or two, please. next you’ll be saying that africans caused the slave trade and women cause rape.

ok, back to reality: i think most people deserve a second chance, too, but mel wants redemption without working for it in any way.

  35. newlife says:

    @ Uzi, NayNay

    narcissist has narcissist friends!

“mel is innocent until proven guilty”???? “Owe MEL a huge apology”?????

No, he hasn’t been CHARGED with anything YET because of his sleezy lawyers. What a “cop-out” don’t charge him with DV until you charge her with extortion – two different crimes treated as a “package deal”. They’re not going to find anything on her computer. However she handled it there is no “extortion” on her part because it would incriminate the judges and lawyers who were there.

  36. Diana says:

I’d also like to add that as an arbitrator, I hear rants like Gibson’s all the time. There are some CRAZIES out there and they have no filter(and this is in a legal setting where they know they are being observed and their behavior noted). In my experience people tend to lose it the quickest and loudest on people they were closest to (lovers, spouses and relatives). I’ve heard the racist remarks, gutteral screaming, animal grunting and even seen people pulling their own hair or beating on their chest (even slapping themselves!) in fits of rage, and yet amazingly, NO domestic violence is ever reported by either side. The fact that Mel totally loses it on the phone should not be taken as evidence that he is a physical abuser, just as proof that he is a sad and desperate human being.

  37. WTF? says:

    @naynay
Do you really think that this is just about money? Did you listen to the tapes? Do gold diggers have some magic spell that can make you spew out hateful racist language.
Also, if she was just a gold digger, then all she had to do was follow the gold-digger handbook and get pregnant with his baby. Gibson is worth 100’s of millions, she could have easily gotten her money without all this extra hassle. She’s got the baby, IMO this is about Mel mistreating her.

  38. NayNay says:

    @: newlife

And when there is proof on her computer, are you still going to take the same stand. Maybe you are young and a little naive, to think nothing is on her computer.

  39. NayNay says:

    @WTF?:

Yes, that is exactly what she is did!! I completely believe that is it all about the money.

And no, losing it on the phone does not mean he is a physical abuser. In the heat of the moment, some people say very stupid things, whi they do not mean, but there said, and cannot be taken back, and I believe that is exactly what he did. All the horrible crap that came out of his mouth was just that, ‘words’, horrible, disgusting, scary, hurtful words, but words none the less. To say otherwise, is very narrow-minded thinking.

  40. Zvonk says:

Like others have said, there’s a difference between Mel Gibson and Mike Tyson. Mike Tyson first and foremost paid a debt to society by serving a three year prison sentence. He has also acknowledged, sought help for his problems, and has turned his life around. Mel Gibson on the other hand is still embroiled in the Oksana controversy, and shows no sign of contrition.

    Uzi

If the whole Oksana drama were an isolated incident, then I would be prepared to reserve judgement. However, your cries of “Mel is innocent until guilty” is a blinkered view that ignores all the other Mel Gibson scandals in recent years. There is most definitely a thick skull at play here. But it’s not one that belongs to Kaiser.

  41. newlife says:

    @NayNay

I think you are a little young and VERY naive and gullible. It’s not as much about money to Oks it’s MORE about the safety of her child as any mother would do and abuse.

Mel is bi-polar he is capable of physical abuse.

    DUH!!

  42. NayNay says:

Yes, newlife, and that is why the judge has allowed him to see the baby. Open your eyes, and see all the pretty flowers arouund you. It’s time you spead your wings a lot, and gotten out of that box you seem to live in.

  43. NayNay says:

There is no debate that Mel is a douchebag, but we do not have all the information, and therefore, none of should be judging his actions. The fact that the court has allowed him visitation rights, seems a little bit out of character, if in fact, the child was in danger. After Oksana’s computer is fully searched, the world will finally see the truth. Regardless of what you think, I’m giving my opinion of the situation. So, nobody can say whether I’m right or wrong until we have all the facts/answers.

    And,
If I’m proven wrong about Mel, at that time, I will make a full apology to all on this site.

  44. newlife says:

    NayNay

You are very young aren’t you? If this was “regular, everyday people” Mel would have been charged, arrested, and probably not have visitation until a psychological evaluation was done on him. But BECAUSE he is a wealthy, powerful, movie star the judge, law enforcement, courts “suck up” (as in BJ) to him and give HIM special treatment. Normal people would already be in jail.

  45. NayNay says:

    @newlife:

I hope you are done writing to me, because I guess we have said everything to eachother that we needed to say. I’m not about to get into a tit for tat correspondence with you. Your comments have been very valuable. Thank you!

  46. Rachel says:

Uhm are you defenders kidding me. Yes we all get angry and say things we shouldn’t, offensive things.

However those things are inside of us. Just like the explosive anger. Not everyone gets angry like that.

There is nothing in this world that could incite me to say something that isn’t inside of me. I imagine that if I was prone to rage and I hated men/women am racist etc., it would come out when enraged. People who rage lack control, that’s what went on with Mel.

Everyone deserves forgiveness it’s good for the soul. Just don’t forget or kid yourself. Hope he gets help I know he had a hate filled upbringing – look at his father.

  47. skibunny says:

After reading this thread I think no wonder this world is in trouble. I’m with naynay on this one. Dont we see movies because of someone’s talent? Their personal life is their own.

  48. icantbelievethis says:

“And no, losing it on the phone does not mean he is a physical abuser.”

On one tape he admitted the physical abuse, so yeah, his words make him an abuser.

It doesn’t matter if she is a golddigger or extorted him. He had no right to hit or threaten her. It would be one thing if he was just calling her names (which is still wrong), but he was threatening to bury her in the rose garden. He didn’t do these things b/c she did something, but b/c he knew he could get away with it and he has so far.

  49. icantbelievethis says:

‘The fact that the court has allowed him visitation rights, seems a little bit out of character, if in fact, the child was in danger.’

Oh please, watch the news. There are stories all the time of kids getting hurt b/c a judge allowed an unstable parent visitation. My brother was charged with throwing his baby against a wall and a judge still allowed him once a week visitation until he went to jail.

  50. Whatever says:

You are very young aren’t you? If this was “regular, everyday people” Mel would have been charged, arrested, and probably not have visitation until a psychological evaluation was done on him.
    *************

Um, wrong. I have a close family member who has been a director of a women’s shelter for over 30 years and this rarely, if ever, happens. The men get visitation, and even custody, but rarely do they go to jail or get psychological evaluations and counseling. It just does not work that way, and especially not seven months later with only a series of recorded phone messages of questionable legality as evidence.

  51. newlife says:

    Thank you icantbelievethis!!

  52. Persistent Cat says:

No skibunny, we don’t see movies solely based on talent. By seeing their movies, we are essentially buying their product. As consumers, we can choose to boycott a product in an attempt to send a message.

To the Mel apologists, have you listened to those tapes? Yes, people get angry and say mean things but I feel Mel took it to a whole new, terrifying level. Alec Baldwin was mad and said something he shouldn’t have but it was a name. Mel threatened her life repeatedly. He made racists and sexist remarks and his anger sounded so all-consuming. Someone that angry is going to lash out.

  53. OXA says:

Mel is a ridiculously wealthy man with his own production company who never needs to wrk another day in his life. Let him risk his own money bankrolling his comeback. His need to be seen on the big screen after he emotionally/ verbally abused and repeatedly threatened any woman, seems purely narcissistic to me. His vile rants are a window to his character and I will not spend a dime of my hard earned money supporting anything to do with him.

  54. sapphire says:

Second chance? And why does he deserve it? Go get therapy AND change the attitude.

  55. Crash2GO2 says:

Isn’t he on his 3rd or 4th chance by now? WTF is up with wanting a ‘Second Chance’??

  56. MissyA says:

    1. I don’t like Mike Tyson.
    2. I don’t like you, Mel Gibson.

Awesome that he wants to compare himself to a convicted rapist, though. Bonus points.

  57. devilgirl says:

Don’t know if this has been mentioned here already, but someone on another site made a good point: What is the difference in Gibson and Charlie Sheen? Sheen has beaten women for years and gotten away with it. He has even been questioned in the mysterious death of an old girlfriend. He is a drunk, a druggie, and has long abused women verbally and physically, yet people for the most part, continue to support him, and you do not see actors coming out against him, refusing to work with him based on his LOOOOONG history with women.

I am not defending Gibson, but there are something wrong in Sheen getting a pass from everyone, and not only getting a pass, but being rewarded with work and raises. I understand many feel he has the goods on many Hollywood big wigs from the Fleiss days, but come on, to be so against Gibson, but not Sheen, who in my opinion, is worse than Gibson, seems a bit hypocritical to me.

  58. Melanie says:

Well, of course *he* thinks that.

Does he think people deserve sixth chances? Cause I already gave him like four or five.

  59. icantbelievethis says:

“to be so against Gibson, but not Sheen, who in my opinion, is worse than Gibson, seems a bit hypocritical to me”

I do not get why so many like Charlie Sheen. It makes me sick that he’s getting such a big paycheck. I was hoping his show would get low ratings and get cancelled. I’ve never watched it and never will.

  60. chasingadalia says:

Let’s pause for a moment, and focus on the “WTF is he doing in that first picture?” question.

    Moose imitation?

  61. icantbelievethis says:

    ‘Thank you icantbelievethis!!’

    LOL, you are welcome!

  62. Crash2GO2 says:

@devilgirl: So far Sheen has been able to spin his wretchedness and keep the bruises he has inflicted under wraps. So far. But believe me, he does NOT get a pass in my book. I refuse to watch his stupid show, which pains me because I love Jon Cryer.

  63. Jerry says:

Don’t know about anyone else but if I know a celebrity is a douche in real life I can’t believe them as any other character, which is probably why Charlie is comfy in his womanizing role on three/men. His character is a drunk, gee – hard acting there eh? I suppose the only people who can relate/support him now are people like him – dirtbags lol. I’m glad Mel was axed, that movie is geared toward a younger audience, one that isn’t caught up in old fashioned beliefs such as beating women and blaming Jews for war! They would have lost a lot of money having him in that flick. Mel should stick to antagonistic roles where he is killed in the end – I’d pay money to see that.

  64. original kate says:

“I am not defending Gibson, but there are something wrong in Sheen getting a pass from everyone, and not only getting a pass, but being rewarded with work and raises.”

he doesn’t get a pass from me, either. the fact that he is on some family sitcom is ridiculous. i’ve only seen one episode and it sucked, but even if i loved it i would boycott it. and for the record, polanski doesn’t get a pass from me either, and neither does tyson.

  65. Kitten says:

“Mel should stick to antagonistic roles where he is killed in the end – I’d pay money to see that.”

    LOL!

Yeah I can’t stand Sheen and his smug face. I wouldn’t watch anything he’s in either. I think some people do separate the actor from the actor’s personal lives. It’s not that I’m unable to do that, I just prefer to support the ones that I like. Just like Tiger Woods lost his endorsement deals after his cheating scandal, I think actors should suffer the same consequences. Image is so tied into the product that athletes and entertainers are selling. If Tiger was reaping the monetary benefits from marketing his image as a “brand”, then likewise he should suffer financial loss as a result of perpetuating a “false” image as a family man.
I think that as Jerry said, the fact that Sheen is playing a role that doesn’t seem like too big of a departure from his public personae, kind of works in his favor as his public image conforms to the character he plays on TV. Pretty dumb if you ask me..

  66. insidescoop says:

Wow, that is that last thing that should be coming out of this man’s mouth

  67. Madison says:

“pending clearance of cast and crew background check,”
    ———————
    What a bitchy statement.LOL.

Mel you have only yourself to blame for everything that has happened, how stupid were you to get involved with a goldigger who tapped your conversations with the intention of ruining you, now you have to pay the price. It’s too soon for a comeback, your box office poision right now and no one wants you in their movies.

  68. Debbie says:

    Everyone deserves a second chance.
I agree with Uzi and whatever and a few others.

Mel has problems. YES. Mel ended the relationship Not Her he did, Because it was a toxic one.
Mel has been going to anger management therapy and getting help for his bipolar.

Oksana has lied from day one in this and now is in a full fledged panic has her computer has been seized and looked at by Investigators.

No police reports, a dodgy dentist whom never reported the alleged violence to the authority within 48 hours.

    What is she hiding.
Why has she hired and fired over 40 lawyers?
Why has she broken several gag orders?
Mel secretly had a person stay with him from child protection services to monitor visits with Lucia to cover abuse allegations from Oksana. She went into court on several occasions saying the baby was in danger The judge sided with Mel.

Why has she on a daily basis run to ROL and done interviews CHANGING THE STORIES.
She has told so many varying versions of what has happened , she has shot herself in the foot.
Hollywood is full of double standards People like Tyson, yes he has done his time, agreed, Polanski has not. Sheen and a few others in Hollywood have not been treated half as bad as Mel.
I think a lot of this comes from The fact he stands up for himself, speaks his mind and a lot of people turned against him after the sucess of The Passion Of The Christ.
The fact he went around to all the Studios looting for someone to help him back the Movie, Everyone got cold feet, Look what happened It made over 600 million.

As for Oksana Check out her lying and sketchy past.
Differing dates of birth, A trained professional singer, piano player a model.
Trained and taught at a renowned Russian school on Moscow, These people have NEVER heard of her.

It is also noted in Prada That her mother and Oksana have said Dalton beat her as well, so many lies
As I said Mel has his problems BUT when a man whom as never had any reports or a hint of abuse against his wife of over 28 years suddenly by the media and a lying woman with BO credibility ever is made a monster, something is very wrong.
Funny how no charges have not been laid and people have already tried Mel as guilty.

I wonder if you were really honest with yourself. How would you all cope if you were taped with out your knowledge while saying things when you were angry and in the heat if the moment and had thenm released to everyone?
We have all said things that we are not proud of.
I think in time when this dies down and Oksana goes away Mel will come back, Looking at Poles around the place Over 85% of people said they wouls srill goe and see Mel at the movies and supprot him,

As For people not wanting to work with him . Fair enough , their choice But there are people who will want to and Ha Harvey has said a lot of people who were against Mel when this broke are now turning against Oksana and supporting Mel

    Debbie

  69. Paddy says:

Well when Mel said “Nobody will believe you!”, you can see he was right. If saying “You f***ing deserved it!” isn’t a clue that he might well be guilty of dv, along with threatening to bash her head in with a bat, accompanied with a shocking level of rage, then nothing will.

There is more compelling evidence that he committed dv (yeah not proof but corroborating texts and tape evidence that a reasonable person would say strongly supported it) than there is after months of investigation that she is guilty of extortion.

She may not be a great human being but that doesn’t make her a criminal. And Oksana not being a great person doesn’t erase Gibson’s abusive behavior.

I’m guessing the recently discovered close friendship with the bodyguard is what jump started the computer search. They’re looking for a smoking-gun email or phone call/text to see if they were working together.

Gibson has long been seen as homophobic, racist and misogynistic. Not everyone shares his tendency to spew vitriol when things don’t go their way like he does, but MG’s fans seem to think they do. This may be where the disconnect lies.

There’s another thing. Before recently it was easier for the rich to cover up wrong doing, so you can’t know for certain if there were previous incidents or not. Gibson fans are assuming they know everything when in fact all they saw was an image for the public. Everyone around him stands to gain financially and has motivation to smooth things over.

The fact that Sheen is a mess doesn’t make Gibson any better. If he was spewing racism like Michael Richards and Gibson, on top of everything else, he would be in, or closer to the dumpster as well.

  70. Kim says:

He had a second chance – after his anti semetic rant and he blew that. This guy is over “chances.”

  71. jane16 says:

God, this is too funny. To the idiot upthread that said we will all owe nasty mel an apology after “we” find out whats on oksana’s computer, thanks for the double funny! Like I care whats on her computer! This has turned into a huge, hilarious joke in H’wood. People are saying stuff like, “ok, I’ll let you know after I run it by the crew” & stuff like that in a good natured way. No one likes mel, and no one cares if his feelings are hurt, period. He has devastated a lot of people along the way to the top. He’s just getting a small taste of what he has dished out.

  72. nona says:

Why does he want another chance? He is going to do exactly the same he has been doing. He can’t help himself, he is a wacko. It’s just the way he is, he won’t change

  73. jane16 says:

    Re: Charlie Sheen.

I agree with all of you that he’s a douche and I don’t watch his show, however, there is a diff with Sheen & mad mel. Mad Mel is mean and nasty to everyone in his orbit, rages at film crews, treats women he just meets like dirt, is totally racist, throws tantrums on set, etc. Charlie treats his own women horribly, but is friendly to crews, workmates, and people that he meets when he goes out around town. I see him out & about all the time, have for decades actually, and have met his whole family. He’s polite to people who wait on him & is friendly with us regular folk who happen to be around. He has been nice to my kids, for instance, on many occasions. So thats why you don’t see a crew revolt about Charlie.

  74. Crash2GO2 says:

“he went around to all the Studios looting for someone”

    Hmmm… Fruedian slip?

  75. Paddy says:

@ Debbie you are quoting from Russian papers, which have about as high a journalistic standard as the average tabloid here. Even the best of them invent stories or mix lies in with truths. Harvey does it all the time, “a source said this or that”. He probably took the Dalton abuse story from the Russian tabloid, invented a new spin, offered no evidence of it, and Mel’s fans bit the bait like they always do.

So if that kind of thing is all you have to indict Oksana with, I think you’ll be hard pressed to convince people that know even the very basics about tabloid journalism.

Oksana does not have to be a the best person in the world for her to be innocent of extortion. And even if it turns out she’s guilty, it wouldn’t change squat about what you heard on the tapes and read in the text messages anyway.

  76. Whatever says:

I’m guessing the recently discovered close friendship with the bodyguard is what jump started the computer search. They’re looking for a smoking-gun email or phone call/text to see if they were working together.

    *********

No, they’ve been requesting it for MONTHS, but she has been balking and filing motions to suppress what they can search. The judge denied her latest manuever and ordered it turned over. There is definitely something on that computer or she would have turned it over long ago and the investigations would all be over now. The smoking gun is evidence of extortion, I’d bet on it.

  77. Debbie says:

If this alleged abuse happened and it did not, were is the proof?
No calls to 911, No police reports, Tapes she had edited,, tampered with and pic’s that have been released through ROL,
She claims Mel punched Lucia, No wait Claims in people mag it was never a bruise but a CUT.

ok IF this was proved Why has Mel gotten
visitation and overnight visitation with his daughter?
She claims her 2 teeth were completely knocked out of her mouth?
Yet HER dentist claims differently, He said her teeth were intact.
Claims in people mag Mel beat, beat, and beat her while she was holding her two month daughter, strangled her she couldn’t breath. OH!!! and there was BLOOD everywhere.

were are the busing marks around her neck?
Were is the proof of the Blood? why did she not take pic’s of that. If there was so much blood around were are the stitches in her mouth, she would be that bad she would of needed hospital care so would her daughter.
If she was covered in blood and holding a two month old baby why was the baby not more severely injured.
Then she claims to an investigator Mel went out for a smoke and dropped the baby on the floor. But wait she also said to the same person she was with Lucia 24/7. She was with Lucia all the time

I would have more credibility WITH HER IF she has reported this WHEN & IF it happened on the day, time where she claims, But instead she has been lawyer shopping, running to the tabloids, sits down and signs and agreement with her legal team and mentions NOTHING about this. Instead keeps things quit for several months

She wants $$$$$$ and got pissed off when Mel refused to marry her and have her move in with him.

    Debbie

  78. Paddy says:

No one would have been able to block an unlimited search had the courts found “probable cause” before now and they’ve been working on this case for months. Remember that Mel’s camp said they had a trail of evidence in their possession leading to extortion. Everyone’s being very careful because it’s a high profile case.

  79. Shannon says:

Using the word “furious” to describe Mel in the first sentence of that PR piece was a huge, huge mistake. I mean do we need to be reminded of his anger management issues?

Also, I love the reasoning. “This other guy did bad things and was forgiven so why are people being so meeeaaan to meee??”

Well Mel, maybe you should consider, I don’t know, owning up to the fact that you were a disgusting human being when you said and did such horrible things to your wife. And maybe, just maybe, you should apologize. But that would mean ending the long stint you’ve spent in denial and you’re apparently too much of a narcissist to ever realize that.

  80. albeli says:

When he makes amends for his wrongs and actually turns his life around, he can talk.

Mike Tyson’s troubles were *years* behind him and he’d paid his debt to society and turned his life around when he filmed The Hangover.

  81. MuMu says:

Second chances have to be earned. You are NOT entitled to one simply because you are SO amazing, Mel. The fact that you NEVER acknowledged that you abused your wife and daughter is VERY suspect. I believe that you should be in jail.

See, Tyson went to jail, served his time, went to rehab, talked about his problems and TRIED to change. So, he deserves a second chance. Someone who thumbs his nose at the law, hides behind his lawyers/PR firm, and then targets the victim w/his lawyers DOES NOT. But, I doubt Mel will get it since he’s too much of a narcissist to acknowledge his faults.

  82. Ruffian9 says:

Didn’t he get that (2nd) chance after the ‘sugartits’ episode?

Stick a fork in, man, you’re done.

  83. crtb says:

If I were in this situation and a man was treating me and saying the things that Mel is saying to Oksana:

    1. The moment he walked out the door, I would have called 911

    2. I would have called a locksmith and change the locks

    3. I would have called the phone company and change my phone number

    4. I would have gotten an order of protection the next day: WOULD NOT WAITED 6 MONTHS!

    5. I would have gotten an airplane ticket back to Russia, where he could never find me or my child

    6. I would only have made one tape.
Wouldn’t have stayed around to make tape 2, tape 3, tape 4, tape 5.

    7. I would have grabbed something and hit back. I would have burnt his house down.

    8. Tapes would not have been leaked to the media. They would have been given to the DA so that he could have pressed charges for domestic abuse.

    9. After these events had taken place, I would not have continued to travel, socialize, visit, talk, have $ex with…etc with Mel Gibson.

In no way, am I saying that Mel isn’t responsible for his horrible behavior.
What I am saying is that I think this woman is/or has manipulated the situation. She just happens to tape their conversations FIVE times? For what purpose? She didn’t take the tapes to the police. So why was she holding on to the tapes for six months? Something about this whole situation just doesn’t feel RIGHT to me. The more she says the more I don’t believe her. Even I can tell that she is lying.

  84. Eve says:

I’m playing the smallest violin in the world right now.

  85. Anti-icon says:

it is true that everybody deserves a second chance. But Mel, as a founder of a strict religious sect, you should also know that before Forgiveness Comes Repentance. In your case, that means GO AWAY and stop polluting the public air space.

  86. Ruffian9 says:

NayNay – You’ve got some weird obsessive fixation on her computer. What on earth do you think they’ll find there that could possibly justify MG’s actions? Plans to murder his family? A program from the local synagogue? Jokes aside, there simply is no excuse. You don’t say those things to people, EVER, particularly the mother of your child.

  87. CathyT says:

    More internet lynch mob behavior.

Mel hasn’t uttered a peep since this controversy broke–unlike Oksana, who had several lawyers quit because she didn’t keep the gag order.

Yet you hang Mel because of what a Rupurt Murdoch rag claims some unnamed source said.

  88. Majosha says:

jane16: So Charlie isn’t THAT bad because he only terrorizes his wife and no one else? Lovely. I’m sure all the battered women whose husbands “behave” in public really appreciate that distinction.

And just for the record: Mel can rot.

  89. Stephanie says:

‘Blah blah “second chance’ blah blah,” big talk from someone who spewed the verbal equivalent of skinning a kitten. Jackass.

  90. Debbie says:

Agreed Kathy T Yet I see another Lawyer has fled the sinking ship OINKY

There has never been a hint of domestic abuse against Robyn nor any of his Children in over 30 years, Yet some people want to believe a low life Russian Gold digger Who HAS NEVER EVER has any credibility.
No Calls to the police, Nothing in evidence.

Should have followed the proper procedure in calling 911 WHEN AND IF the incident happened.

    Why wait several months?
    Debbie

  91. Lynda says:

We are talking about second chances, and look at his pic in this article. What a stupid ass he is. I stopped watching any of his movies years ago,

  92. Paddy says:

@ Cathy T how is this lynch mob behavior? It’s certainly no more so than what Mel’s fans are doing to Oksana.

At least in Mel’s case not only is there a history of unacceptable behavior including ugly comments pre dating the internet about gay men and more recently about Jews- but there are text messages and taped conversation that demonstrate he is a vile, abusive man who basically told her that she asked for it. Michael Richards (remember him?) was cut even less slack.

I think what has left some of us scratching our heads is that often people defend him by asserting that it’s common for people to act like this, and if they were only taped without their knowledge, they’d be as bad. Which is not true.

Would you find any of this acceptable if this was not Mel Gibson?

Again even if Oksana isn’t a sweet smelling rose herself, that still doesn’t change or in anyway explain what Mel did. He’s a wealthy man who could have just walked. She’s an obnoxious, famelusting blabbermouth but is that as bad to you as threatening to bash someone’s head with a bat or saying they deserved to be hit?

  93. Persistent Cat says:

To the Mel apologists (NayNay, Whatever, etc.), listen to the tapes. How can you forgive that? There’s anger and then there’s Mel Gibson. Listen to the names he calls her and the things he says he’s done or will do to her. That is your precious Mel saying those awful things. Now imagine your husband/boyfriend screaming those things at you.

What could she possibly have on her computer that could make what he said on those tapes ok? She may not be the best person, I don’t know nor care as she’s not taking my money, but he is just reprehensible.

As to why Charlie Sheen gets away with it, he brings a lot of money to CBS because people watch his terrible show. Money will always come first. If Mel was making anyone money, he’d be protected.

  94. icantbelievethis says:

I can’t take the Mel defenders anymore.

Did ya’ll listen to the tapes? He ADMITTED it and threatened to kill her, along with saying she deserved to get raped.

And yet she gets called ‘golddigger’, ‘whore’, ‘low life’.

It is sad that MG could admit on tape that he hit her and people still defend him. And then people wonder why women don’t come forward when they are abused. Reminds me of when I told my mom that my boyfriend in college shoved me against a wall and her first question was “what did you do to make him do that?”. Haven’t we progressed enough to stop blaming the victim? The victim doesn’t have to be a saint.

  95. Chris says:

@devilgirl: I agree with the Sheen stuff. I’ve looked at the other threads on this site about Sheen, Polanski and Woody Allen and I’ve noticed that the majority of people who are jumping up and down about Gibson are strangely absent on those threads. Obviously, they’re just raining hate on Mel because he’s a white, conservative, Christian and therefore it’s safe to slag him off. Sheen probably gets a pass because he’s considered Liberal by default because his dad is Martin Sheen. As for Mel’s hate of the Jews, that’s a by product of religious division, you’ll find that if you dig deep enough most religious people have contempt for people of other faiths. In fact most of them have contempt for anyone who is not of their faith.

Also, on Tyson, I saw that doco about him too and he has no remorse for raping Desiree Washington, in fact he still refers to her as “that filthy woman”.

  96. jane16 says:

majosha, hope you don’t think I was excusing Charlie, not what I meant at all. I was trying to make a point about the film crews, mel has been horrible to or in front of so many people, there’s just a general Hollywood revolt against him.

  97. DrM says:

Ummm no Mel sorry. You’ve had more privilege and more second chances than most people get in a life time…you really need to STFU mate!

  98. Debbie says:

Tapes have been edited and tampered with, you can spot that a mile away,She sounds far to clam on them.
They were in her hands, No one else had them, If you read several interviews she contradicts herself, saying she never leaked the tapes they were in her sole possession, then later she said she gave them to her sister who deleted them, and then she claims in another interview They were taken without her knowledge.
She has bought this public attention on herself, and now that things are not going on the way SHE wants them to she’s constantly telling differing story’s.
She has the ghoul to stand there and claim she is a victim of abuse, Well if that was the case and it was not why wait several months to bring out the tapes? If Mel was so abusive to her why did she insist on traveling with him all over the place in promoting his movie?
Considering Mel was taped without his knowledge and she uses the excuse she was in fear for her life.

She went Lawyer shopping was told to go to the police if we are to believe that and No she runs to a tabloid.

She counted on Mel sitting down and handing over a huge cheque she did not expect him to fight back.

Just because a person shoots there mouth off in a heated argument does not make them a physical abuser, There was never a hint of this in his marriage to Robyn.

  99. Julia says:

OK, Debbie, let’s say that the entire Oksana thing was all one huge hoax (which is the world’s biggest stretch). I still think he’s an asshole that used up all his chances. Anti-semitism? Sexism? Homophobia? Alcoholism? Leaving his wife and family for some new piece? Adultery before he left his wife? Yeah. Case closed. Just because there “wasn’t a hint” of this shit with his family doesn’t mean it wasn’t there. You don’t just wake up one day with this level of narcissism. You don’t go to sleep on Thursday and wake up on Friday as Jew-hating, sexist, alcoholic with rage issues. Nice try, though.

I’m also not giving Tyson or Sheen a pass. I’m not saying they don’t deserve to live their lives, but I don’t have to pay money to make them more successful.

  100. Crash2GO2 says:

“Reminds me of when I told my mom that my boyfriend in college shoved me against a wall and her first question was “what did you do to make him do that?”.”

Preach it sister. I only hope I can instill in my daughter a strong sense of self worth despite my programming. Because I can see that there are plenty of victim blamers still alive and well in the world.

  101. Crash2GO2 says:

@Debbie: He admitted the physical abuse in the tapes. “You deserved it.”

  102. CathyT says:

@Paddy…This feels like the “two minute hate” from 1984. Mel isn’t a monster. He is a complicated human being with flaws, including what seems to be a mental illness. Oksana gets the same treatment in the TMZ comments, and I don’t agree with the blinding hate toward her either.

  103. Eliza says:

majosha, hope you don’t think I was excusing Charlie, not what I meant at all. I was trying to make a point about the film crews, mel has been horrible to or in front of so many people, there’s just a general Hollywood revolt against him.

oh geez jane, what do you think of Christian Bale being caught on tape ranting at a person who worked on set one of his movies? yet he’s still being to act in films, how come we don’t get to hear any reports about any revolts from hollywood having to work with someone like him?

  104. Eliza says:

See, Tyson went to jail, served his time, went to rehab, talked about his problems and TRIED to change. So, he deserves a second chance.

really? he’s tried to change? how so? he still seems to blame his ex wife robin givens for the things that went wrong in their relationship, and has again been accused of beating up a photographer. He may have served his time by going to jail but he still hasn’t changed for the better, or else he wouldn’t keep blaming his ex wife for making him act the way he did towards her.

  105. Eliza says:

The funny thing is, Hollywood has no problems with you if you’re racist against other minorities like asians, but once you mention the J word, you’re pretty much screwed over.

  106. susieqinBA says:

    @Debbie

The tapes gave a “hint” of what went on in Mel’s family what his wife/kids saw and had to deal with. Do you really believe this bi-polar man NEVER had violent rages in his life before or that he never verbally abused his wife/kids????? You must be a narcissist (that’s becoming my favorite word now) yourself!!

Why was it never reported? Duh!! get real woman!! Perhaps, just perhaps, he, Mel Gibson, terrorized (maybe I should say “bullied”) Robyn/kids from saying anything: “keep our family privacy” (another way of saying keep the abuse hidden in the closet). If they said anything, for one thing, who would believe them? Also, if they said anything it would damage Mel’s precious image, and we couldn’t have that now could we?

  107. MuMu says:

@Eliza. Your point is vague and incomplete. Why don’t you quote your references? I just saw a movie with Tyson where he talked about all his problems, and talked about his ongoing therapy. I don’t remember him blaming anyone but himself in the film. As I said, he is trying to change himself and he has served his time. That’s leagues above Mel Gibson, at this point. If the abuse allegations against Mel are true, then he too should go to jail. But I doubt that will ever happen since he has the money to get off.

  108. Eliza says:

Appearing on U.S. TV talk show Oprah on Monday (12Oct09), Tyson said, “I truly wanted to sock her… but I just didn’t do it. I was young at the time… I have socked her before and she socked me before, but it was just that kind of relationship, you know.”
And while show host Oprah Winfrey attempted to contemplate the type of damage Tyson could do in a fight with a woman, the former champ said, “Robin is a very tough woman… and she can be very mean as well. She’s no easy pushover at all.”

This interview was made last year when he appeared on the Oprah Show. Tyson doesn’t seem to think that his size and strength could cause harm to Robin because she is apparently a very tough woman, and she’s no push over.Plus he calls her very mean as well. yeah, I’m sure that’s not blaming Robin at all for what happened in their relationship. Please tell me how calling his ex mean and tough and no pushover changing for the better?

  109. Persistent Cat says:

Eliza, are you really comparing Christian Bale’s rant to Mel Gibson’s? Yeah, what CB did was wrong but MG’s was on a whole different level. He told her she deserved to get raped by a pack of n…… Explain that one.

  110. MuMu says:

@Eliza. Look, I’m not defending Tyson or saying that he’s some perfect perfect human being, but he is working on it, as he has admitted. In his movie, he talked about hurting a lot of people and feeling very sorry about that. He obviously has a ways to go.

They are both on the same page as far as I’m concerned–except one is working on his many problems and the other is not. EVEN WORSE, Mel thinks he needs to be given a free pass. And, WHY do you refuse to acknowledge the obvious? Tyson went to jail! He served time, while Mel has been walking around like he’s never done anything wrong. BIG difference.

  111. Debbie says:

If she is so sweet and innocent as some of you believe

    Why hire over 40 lawyers
She firing them now on a daily basis if they are not jumping the ship?
Why break a gag order and leak suppressed evidence which the judge ordered sealed to the media?
If she claims to be in fear for her life Why stay in a house that is payed for by Mel?
Why do HER story’s keep changing and why does she feel the need to shoot her mouth off at every opportunity she gets?
Why is there no evidence at all from the so called Dentist, He never reported the alleged abuse to the correct authorities with in the time?
So many things in this whole thing have never added up, from day one.
Were as in other high profile cases involving very rich movie stars etc.
    They followed the correct procedure.
RANG the police done everything by the book WHEN the incident occurred
    .

    Why wait for several months?
when she went to Russia to do her concert in an interview which This site had here she spoke highly of Mel and at one point did not rule out getting back together with him.
She claims It’s not about $$ But at one point want’s Mel to buy her a new house>

She has shot herself in the foot by her actions.
Mels rep came out once and denied the incident, He has keep quite in all of this Following Court gag orders

    Debbie

  112. cindy says:

    Oh naynay,
I want to be your mom and get off my bipolar medication and then see how you feel afterwards. But you woldn’t be making these comments if you were mine. I wouldn’t allow this man near one of my girls. Money isn’t the issue when your life is in jeopardy. She might have been a gold digger at first but now ???; does that mean she should take this or be scared all the time. Maybe having a child put it in the correct light for her. When he threw the chair, shoved the other kid, and has had repeated anger problems in the public eye what would make you think that this guy is safe for her , baby, you or even himself. Sociopaths act like this to. All the I’m sorries is self preservation (in another words he keeps his foot in the door with her for maybe her weak moment to get a bj)He has had way to many people kissing his butt and saying they like it and he is a God. He actually believes and apparently thinks he deserves the ability to say or do what he wants. He is just an ACTOR. Nothing special but for his ability as entertainment

  113. Eliza says:

Eliza, are you really comparing Christian Bale’s rant to Mel Gibson’s? Yeah, what CB did was wrong but MG’s was on a whole different level. He told her she deserved to get raped by a pack of n…… Explain that one.

Yeah I am, how is Mel Gibson worse than Christian Bale? He was also accused of physically ASSAULTING his own MOTHER AND SISTER! please tell me how CB is so much more better than Mel Gibson because he didn’t use the N word at the guy he yelled at. And fyi Charlie Sheen, the highest paid actor in television, also used the N word against his ex Denise Richards. Please tell me how these men are much better than Mel and should still be allowed to work?

  114. Crash2GO2 says:

@Debbie: “If she is so sweet and innocent as some of you believe”

Straw man arguement. No one is saying that, has said that, has even implied it.

@Eliza: “Please tell me how these men are much better than Mel and should still be allowed to work? ”

Straw man argument. No one is saying they should be allowed to work, or not allowed to work. The simple fact is, Mel has burned his bridges so that no one in Hollywood WANTS to work with him. For some reason, Hollywood still wants to work with the other two.

Ladies, when you must resort to straw men arguments it only illustrates how weak your positions are.

  115. haha says:

Damn he used to be such a good looking guy (like in this pic: http://pinartarhan.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/4044968-300×295.jpg).

He’s lost his mind but hopefully his career will have another chance and I know a lot of you hate me for saying that. I’m sorry but his ex-girlfriend is nothing more than a liar and I’m leaving it at that.

  116. john says:

I would like to make an observation, while my initial reaction to hearing what Mel said is disgust; the fact is, we have no context. We are all judging someone based on a few sound bites; ask yourself: ave you ever had some you love cheat on you, lie to you, betray you? How did you feel? what did you say? If someone recorded you in that moment and released it to the media, how would you sound? How would you feel to know everyone is judging you based on that moment? If people, who didn’t know you or the context of that moment, told you how horrible you are? How would you feel? Try to remember that when you judge someone you don’t know.

  117. MuMu says:

    Another Mel apologist. wonderful

I absolutely guarantee you will NEVER hear the following words out of my mouth: “[Yes, I physically beat you] AND YOU DESERVED IT, you stupid blank, blank, blank . . . I’m going to bury you in the rose garden, etc.”

His words were NOT accidentally taken out of context. He admitted to abuse and threatened her. Those are crimes in this country.

  118. haha says:

Want another Mel Gibson defender, MuMu? Try Robert Downey Jr:

  122. Pony says:

Omg,Gibson is so ugly nowadays. He used to be quite handsome, but now he looks like shit.It is probably negative effect of alcoholism.

  123. Hi my friend! I want to say that this article is amazing, great written and include almost all important infos. I would like to look extra posts like this.
