Shape editor sorry for LeAnn Rimes cover; LeAnn will ‘get to the bottom of this’

Shape Magazine’s editor sent out a very contrite apologetic e-mail to readers who were outraged by the LeAnn Rimes cover and accompanying interview, in which she called herself “America’s Sweetheart” and talked about how hard it was for her to cheat on her husband and take up with a married father of two. “After going through this, I know I can face anything.”

Although this statement was not made publicly, and Shape has refused to comment on the leaked e-mail (obtained by TooFab), I’m impressed with how they handled this. Compare this to the way that Self’s editor haughtily responded to the controversy over Photoshopping Kelly Clarkson thinner or the way that Marie-Claire’s editor defended their obnoxious ‘fatties’ article. Shape is better than that, and they’re sorry.

Shape magazine’s editor-in-chief has been forced to apologize to readers for featuring homewrecker LeAnn Rimes on its October cover, acknowledging it was a “terrible mistake” in an email exclusively obtained by TooFab, sent out to some readers.

Some readers were mortified that Rimes — who has admitted to cheating on ex-husband Dean Sheremet with then-married “CSI” hunk Eddie Cibrian — was glorified on the fitness magazine’s cover with the sympathetic coverline, “LeAnn Rimes: How Working Out Saved Me.”

TooFab has obtained the email that the magazine’s editor-in-chief, Valerie Latona sent to those who expressed outrage over the cover:

Subject: To my dear Shape readers

You are all in good company (why I’m e-mailing you all together) as you all agree Shape has made a terrible mistake in putting LeAnn Rimes on the cover.

Please know that our putting her on the cover was not meant to put a husband-stealer on a pedestal-but to show (through her story) how we all are human. And this woman in particular found strength in exercise in what she said was her most difficult personal moment.

But it did not come across that way … And for that I’m terribly sorry.

I hope that we can do better the next time for those of you that will give us another chance.

Humbly,

Valerie

A rep for Shape had no comment.

[From Too Fab via US Weekly]

I’m so impressed with the way Shape’s editor responded to this and just wish it was an official statement. LeAnn has of course responded to Shape saying they never wanted to celebrate her home-wrecking status. She posted two “twit longer” posts saying that Shape is throwing her a party next week.

Just so all my fans know, I’m getting to the bottom of this. It’s the first I’ve heard of this. Shape is throwing me a party next week as a thank you and a congrats for being on their cover for the 3rd time. I find this very contradictory. I love you all!!

[From LeAnn’s TwitLonger]

Maybe that’s why Shape just sent out an e-mail to angry readers instead of issuing an official response. They wanted to kiss LeAnn’s ass but let it be known that they never meant to celebrate what a piece of work she is. I can’t blame them for trying to keep celebrities happy, but it’s still disappointing that they’re throwing LeAnn a party. If they want to improve their image further they’ll cancel that party on some thin pretext. There’s nothing to be gained by continuing to align themselves with this nasty petty person.

Get over it already people! Her and a long list of people have cheated. She is not the first and wont be the last. Gez…new story, please!!!

  2. LOVE ANGELINA says:

So odd. However it was nice of them to say sorry to the readers who were offended. I don’t think Shape supports what LeAnn did but they are reporters and it was interesting interview. Its always good to have direct source information.

  3. happygirl says:

I’m personally LMAO over here =)

  4. Eileen says:

I agree that Shape sounds like they wanted their cake and eat it too and you can’t blame them, but they must have gotten enough complaints to risk bad publicity and deal with the unhappy customers. I hope this means people have decided to finally start holding celebrities to the same rights and wrongs we are.
I read TONS of posts on the E! site what a double standard it is that Charlie Sheen can keep his job but Leann is getting flack. If you don’t like the fact he’s on there, complain to the network! Power in numbers people!

  5. jc126 says:

I agree, get over it. I think some people take these things WAY too seriously and to heart – like they’re the ones whose husband cheated.

  6. lilred says:

Maybe the party the are throwing will be a lynching.

  7. brin says:

With all the gorgeous women on this earth they should never have put this she-man on the cover to begin with. Leann will continue to receive this backlash because she is still shoving her ill-gotten love in our faces.

  8. Marjalane says:

Wow. I wonder how many MORE letters Shape will get now….I have some free time this morning….and I don’t even really care about her husband stealing, I just think she’s irritating as hell.

  9. Eileen says:

Oh yeah and you forgot that she told her fans on Twitter the other day that her affair is different than other peoples because it was “God’s Will” Riiiiiight-so I don’t feel sorry for her at all. She can’t have her cake and eat it too either. No one would care two sh!ts about her affair now if she had just shut her hole instead of trying to over justify to everyone. She’s her own worst enemy.

  10. Jezi says:

Leann did this to herself. Sorry but she is a complete narcissist who is the least bit remorseful. She acts like the victim and she’s clearly not. If she were smart or had better PR, she would’ve never used that Shape interview to discuss the affair and why she cheated and helped to break up a family. It was all about her and how tough it was on her. Um, hello, what about her husband and what about Brandi and those boys? Not to mention she completely added another knife in the back to Dean by saying her marriage was unfulfilling for them both. Dean disagreed!!!! She should’ve just kept the article about how she works out and what exercises she does. That’s all. And no you can’t “steal” a husband but you can work pretty damn hard at making sure you get the guy. Which is what she did and still gloats about it to this day. That’s why people can’t “get over it”.

  11. Rita says:

Even the “hot guy Friday” thread won’t be better than this.

If the editor is openly apologizing to readers canceling subscriptions simply for putting the picture of a female who looks like a soviet spear chucker on the cover, then her record label must be cringing. Her PR people will no doubt be all over the web commenting how unfair this is (I see some of them here now).

I understand LeAnn is claiming God has blessed her adultery, having suspended the commandments these past two years (Damn, didn’t get the memo) and that her detractors are “mocking” God’s will (guess I’m in real trouble).

  12. Molly says:

I don’t think the issue is that she is a cheater. There are a lot of cheaters in Hollywood and elsewhere. I think the issue people have with her is her holier than thou attitude. As if cheating on her husband was a crime the world committed against HER.

  13. brin says:

@Eileen…..so true….her smug self-righteousness is the worst thing about her.

  14. rundee says:

“No doubt she is annoying as hell, but it’s petty and nasty for you to promote this misogynist 50’s husband stealer bullshit.”

I absolutely agree with this: Leave her and all the others who cheat alone. They´re all adults and everything´s allowed in war and love. And there´s no such thing as homewrecking-husbandstealing and alike: People break up and then there´s someone else. Or people wanna have sex with more than just one person and so on. And people get hurt in relationships, all of this is normal and happens and is very human.

  15. Medusa says:

Come on! Get over it! Seems to me everyone is moving on, except the media – think about his kids, their lives shpuldn’t be connected to thos FOREVER. They fell in love, they behaved wrong an immoral, they have been paying for it over and over again. Move on.

  16. Eileen says:

@Medusa -I totally agree that all this can hurt those poor kids, but you’re missing the fact that this focus on Leann is because of LEANN herself. She is 100% responsible for this mess because she has made a wrong step every since the affair became public. Any ordinary person with morals would be devastated that they hurt their husband, a woman and her two kids enough to just step back and keep quiet about things. She’s done the exact opposite. Its like picking a scab-stop messing with it and let it heal…AND for God’s sake take the Twitter from her!

  17. jen says:

    Hahahahahaha!

  18. tvf says:

They’re only sorry because it’s costing them money. Shape sends out a preview of their cover every month for people who have signed up to review, showing two covers with the same model but different photos and layouts and asking which cover is preferred. Usually the answer selection is something like:

    A. I like Cover A
    B. I like Cover B
    C. I don’t like either cover
    D. I don’t like (the cover model)

They left off the fourth selection when they screened the Rimes cover. They knew they’d get an overwhelming response from people who didn’t like Leann Rimes, they didn’t care.

And rundee, I hope for your sake you never get married. And I hope your married friends know better than to allow you around their husbands. All’s fair in love and war does *not* apply to going after married men. A divorce is a wee bit more serious than just breaking up, and a marriage should be more serious than your casual boyfriend.

  19. Rita says:

Wow, you PR people are being waaayyyy to obvious. LeAnn stalked another woman’s husband, blatantly bullies his wife, posts pictures of herself with Brandi’s children for PR, threatens Brandi with lawsuits, hires teams of PR people and spokespeople to stalk internet detractors and you think this is “normal human” behavior.

Carrie Underwood is the hotest babe in music today because she is talented, honest, beautiful, generous, and someone of great character. LeAnn is none of these things and her career is all but nonexistent because of it.

People don’t buy anything from people they don’t like. It’s called Karma and no PR team is going to fix that.

  20. Jezi says:

Tell Leann to leave it alone. She’s the one who talks about it non-stop. If she would just shut up about it, it would go away. She’s looking to talk about it again on ABC in an interview. Stop talking and we will stop caring. If you haven’t read her tweets then you don’t know or understand why she gets the slack she does. She talks about how god led her to her love, regardless of how it got there. No remorse!!! Yes, people cheat all the time but when you glorify it, justify it and continue to gloat about it, it just makes you look worse than you already do.

  21. Samigirl says:

@Rita…you always know the right things to say LOL!
All of this sucks, I love to see LeAnn unhappy, so that is great, but we all know that Eddie is going to cheat again. I read somewhere that when someone FINALLY gets caught doing something wrong (i.e. stealing, cheating, lying) they have done it at least 10 previous times. Eddie will find someone else soon enough, and then we can revel in her misery.

  22. brin says:

The media does need to move on & stop putting leann on the cover of magazines, taking cheesy photo ops (especially with the children who are not hers)and presenting on tv award shows.

  23. bitca says:

Ohhhh… Before reading the story, I assumed the apology was to Leann for the terrible cover pic.

Won’t knock a woman’s looks unless she’s effed herself up w/surgical ‘enhancements’–so will just say, um—the clueless, self-absorbed little twit has *difficult* features. That modelesque pout is sort of a disaster.

  24. Shanzy says:

Nothing brings people together like a common enemy.

  25. brin says:

The worst thing about this is we have to look at this fugly pic all over again (but it was worth it).

  26. Debra says:

    Medusa: i agree with Jezi

Leann is keeping this story alive and well in the press with her constant tweets and photo-ops

and she obviously hasn’t moved on because she and her puppet are doing yet another interview where they ‘open up’ about their adulterous relationship…she probably handed Eddie a script to memorize if she lets him talk at all…(goodness knows he could use a script right about now)

  27. happygirl says:

    I’m with Jez! =)

  28. Jezi says:

    Thanks happygirl 🙂

  29. Isa says:

    lilred–Lmao!

  30. Darla says:

I think the truly irritating part is all this “I used exercise to help me deal with the stressful activitiy of porking someone else’s husband while lying to my own. Whaaaa!!! It’s haaaaarrrddd!!!” Bish plz, who CARES about your pain. They are a result of YOUR choices!! Everything happened the way you wanted. The only stress is that people are calling you out as the homewrecking ho that you are! Why don’t you re-hydrate with a great big glass of STFU after your workout and see how that works for you. You work out so hard, you should give them twitter thumbs a rest.

    Dumb white trash beyotche.

  31. LT says:

This woman’s face – I CAN’T. She looks like she belongs in Whoville.

  32. Lee says:

I too thought the apology was for the gawd-awful picture of Rimes that Photoshop had perhaps failed to fix (are they trying to prove they don’t use it ever, even for the most needy cases?). What were they thinking? She is NOT cover-girl material, for any reason.

  33. brin says:

    @Debra…..lol! Eddie who?

  34. Jezi says:

She’s the ventriloquist and he’s the dummy that sits on her lap.

  35. spinner says:

Why is it the woman always takes it up the arse?? Always blamed. Is it that men, at least, get the respect of fear?? I’m thinking that even if she would have kept her mouth shut she would have taken the brunt.

  36. Maddie says:

She is prolonging her relationship with Eddie if it’s Leann and Eddie against the naysayers the drama will fuel the affair.

As for GOD telling her that she has the ok to cheat is telling how far gone she is, because the last time I read the Bible there was a list in there called The Ten Commandments.

So if GOD told her it was ok to shoot some one she would do that to.

The Karma Bus is right around the corner for both of them, he’s out of a job and while he is a good looking due he not that great of an actor and her career was on the skids before she even cheated so where does that leave her and her music.

  37. Jazz says:

They should be apologizing for the photoshop job they’ve done with her body there. They clearly didn’t do enough with her face.

  38. The Old KC says:

I’m not gonna jump on the “trash leAnn’s looks” bandwagon – but I call BS on the “email apology”. I am a Shape subscriber and I received no such email. Any other Shape subscribers on here receive one? I don’t buy it – there’s something about the text of the email that sounds completely fabricated. Sounds hacked up to me.

  39. Jezi says:

@spinner it’s not that she gets blamed for the affair and he doesn’t, he is silent while she takes the heat. Such a great man she’s got…lol. He let’s her burn at the stake because he knows he’s stuck. He needs her money. She’s the one who continues to talk about it and that’s why she gets all the heat. He’s not getting away with anything, but he’s smart enough to keep his mouth shut.

  40. The Old KC says:

@Darla – OMG honey, “rehydrate with a tall glass of STFU” – I am dying. 🙂 Snaps for that one!

  41. Angel says:

Yeah, sure. She’s the one who is nasty in petty.

eta: some of these comments are horrifying.

  42. Oh boy says:

So I guess LeAnn clubbed Edie over the head, threw him in the truck of her car and drove off. That’s how she “stole” him right? I am so sick of this one-sided “husband stealer” BS. These men are leaving on their own accord YET the women they “leave” for get all the blame. Whats even more sicking about this…certain Women are the ones who perpetuate this mentality. It needs to stop. It takes two to tangle…stop putting all the blame on the woman!

  43. Xx says:

Is it 1950 or something? She is getting held to a higher standard than many many many many other cheaters, including St. Jolie. This is just stupid.

  44. bored says:

I think its just the in thing right now to hate on her. Shes not really a loveable person by first glance but wow if this is how we treat cheaters then off to the pits with half the population! I have never cheated and its not my style but honestly people, you dont know their situation.

  45. brin says:

She could be on the cover of Ladie’s Ho Journal or Cheater’s Digest.

  46. Darla says:

I love how Trashanna’s PR sets the keyboards on fire posting under a zillion names as soon as anything comes out.

You can’t steal someone’s husband, but you can sure as sh*t chase them, which is what she did, and how!!! Yes he’s a weak worthless douche for saying yes, but he didn’t trip over a log and accidentially fall into her vagina. She’s done nothing but brag about her prize since the get go. I’m surprised she doesn’t hang his stuffed penis on the wall, take a photo, and send the picture out on twitter

  47. icantbelievethis says:

So is everyone going to slam Brandi G for getting arrested for a DUI? Or is that LR’s fault too?

In my book a DUI is way worse than cheating b/c innocent people are killed by drunk drivers all the time. Cheating is hurtful but not life ending (I’ve BTDT and it sucks but there are worse things that can happen).

I’m not a LR fan. I just saw that BG was arrested for DUI.

  48. jc126 says:

#47 – i was just going to post about that! I’m sure a huge headline about Brandi’s DUI arrest is going to appear any minute now!

  49. Darla says:

One last time, the reason everyone hates her is she WON’T SHUT UP!!!! She couldn’t quit tweeting if her ass was on fire and she needed her hands to put it out! If you’re a dumb homewreckin’ ho, at least have to good sense to realize it and SHUT UP!!! No one wants to hear about that crap!

    Okay, thank’s I’m better

  50. too true says:

I think they sent those apology letters out to the subscribers who complained and not to all subscribers. must have been a lot of complaints. just hope they don’t renege on their apology Leann and Eddie are two adulterers and should really be ashamed and Leann constantly acts like she is the victim. the victims here are those two kids ,Brandi and Dean Leann needs to go far far away with the man she chased after when he was in counselling with his wife. they were also meeting at motels and at a friends house to do the nasty while still marreied and lying to everyone

  51. Chrissy says:

I have to agree that Leann would have been much better off had SHE not handled the affair and it’s aftermath the way she has. I couldn’t care less that she had an affair. But what is too low for me to forgive is how she goes on and on AND ON on public forums and in public interviews about the children and “her” man. She would have been better off (and I think this backlash wouldn’t be happening now) had she never answered a single question about her relationship with Eddie and kept her private life PRIVATE.

  52. Rita says:

    @#47

No excuses for Brandi if the DUI is true.

Don’t forget LeAnn’s hit and run after she’d been drinking with Eddie. I’m sure she paid hush money to get off and it happened but no excuses for Brandi.

I hope Brandi gets a steep fine for her DUI stupidity and learns from it.

  53. icantbelievethis says:

‘must have been a lot of complaints.’

The editor said it was 40 complaints out of 6 million subscribers and her email was using the words the complaints used.

  54. mystified says:

Enough with any celebrity on the cover! Why don’t women’s magazines go back to using unknown models? Most celebrities are annoying and chances are, people are buying the magazines despite, rather than because of the celebrity on the cover.

I’m boycotting women’s magazines with annoying celebrities on the cover — which means I’m pretty much reduced to only buying Prevention, Family Circle and knitting magazines, or the occasional magazine with a rare unannoying celebrity on the cover such as Sandra Bullock, Diane Lane, Goldie Hawn, Patricia Heaton or Marion Cotillard.

I have even recently made the sacrifice of not buying Lancome anymore because I don’t want anyone at Lancome to mistake me for a fan of Julia Roberts.

Every now and then women’s magazines claim that they’re not going to use celebrity covers anymore but they always end up letting me down.

  55. original kate says:

if i were leanne i would be much more upset about that hideous cover photo. my god, she looks like a linebacker sucking on a lemon.

  56. betty says:

I read that also that was bad judgement on her part also. I personally do not condone that behavior. The kids appear to have parents that are both boozers, too many people drive under the influence. Eddie is lucky he hasn’t got caught he was shown drinking and getting in the drivers seat/ Poor judgement on both parties.

  57. Eileen says:

Uh oh it looks like Brandi went out and celebrated the LR news TOO much last night!

  58. minnie says:

Shape’s apology wasn’t much of a real apology.

The editor didn’t actually say that she or the magazine thought putting LR on the cover was a “terrible mistake”. She said that the readers who sent letters of complaint all thought it was a “terrible mistake”.

Didn’t anyone else catch this? I skimmed the comments and might have missed it). BIG difference!

  59. craigc says:

    Dear Leanne,

    Karma’s a bitch….

  60. Jezi says:

I agree with Rita. I don’t condone what was done. If she did it, then she will pay the consequences for it. I also know Eddie & Leann have driven under the influence from the photos of them drinking and driving and that video. It is inexcusable behavior. However, with that being said, I’m still against Leann for the cheating scandal. I’ve never once gotten on Leann for anything other than what she’s done and does to taunt. This does not change my mind about that!

  61. Eileen says:

I guarantee those 40 were canceling their subscription, not just complaining. Mags don’t care until you mess with their $$$$.

  62. TG says:

Why would they even interview her? It’s not like she is a great catch. There are plenty of A List celebs out there they could have put on the front why this ugly mannish horseface creature? She needs them way more than they need her.

  63. brin says:

@Jezi…I feel the same way, it doesn’t change anything about leann’s bad behavior.

  64. 4REAL says:

She should have NEVER talked about “her new man” and “her kids” if she didn’t want any backlash from it! She’s gross I cancelled my subscription I wish she would just go away. BTW funny how scources (aka LEANNE!)informed TMZ Brandi got a DUI this morning just as this story came out?? She’s gross…

  65. Kate Ford says:

The issue went from the mailbox into the trash. It never entered my house. Then I wrote and cancelled my subscription.

Worst sociopathic white trash in America today!

    Be gone Rimes!

  66. Jeri says:

Brad and Angelina shouldn’t be on any covers either and just about every celeb out there.

Not really, there’s some good honest ones but it’d be pretty hard to police celebs.

    Except Charlie…

Too bad about Brandi’s DUI last night/this morning.

  67. Jezi says:

@4Real, totally agree. This story was planted. Glanville isn’t a celebrity.

  68. jen says:

^^^^This. I always find Celebitchy to be the worst of the gossip sites regarding treatment of women, largely because it’s mostly women doing the bashing, including the writers, but every now & then I come across a commenter who ISN’T a rolling pin-brandishing moronic throwback, so thank you, Oh Boy. Women are their own worst enemy. Depressing as f*ck.

  69. Jaxx says:

@jc126–I think it’s a foregone conclusion that those who judge this couple so harshly ARE people who have been cheated on and they are expressing their intense bitterness through condemning celebrities.

Americans are so judgemental, in Europe they don’t even mention cheating. They are grown up enough to know it’s a fact of life, and not worth discussing.

  70. MissyA says:

I personally don’t like Rimes, but this whole meta “homewrecker/whore” tripe is really getting old.

The editors should be sorry they put such a shallow, money-hungry tool on the cover of their magazine. But the reason people are outraged is because this marginally talented mess broke up a (unhappy) home – and some magazine dared to share her side of the story?

Come on. Really starting to sound petty and foolish.

    We’re better than that, ladies.

  71. Shelley says:

Whoa, here we go again – SamiGirl can’t wait to see LR miserable, someone else thinks anyone who isn’t attacking LR is being paid by LR for their posts. Well, where is my check then? I actually read the ‘Shape’ article and keep checking her Tweets now, it’s like I’m caught up in the same obsession as you guys. I’d call 911 to get myself hauled away except that I still understand that it was my choice to buy that ‘Shape’ and is up to me whether to read her Tweets or not. They are just kinda dull, really. Why do you read them when you know without a doubt that doing so will cause you such stress and outrage?! And to have such a level of antagonism toward someone you’ve never met and who hasn’t hurt you personally in any way?!

  72. Kate Ford says:

    Rimes has no fans.

Let the editor of Shape know directly how much you despise this homewrecking cow

    Tweet:

  73. Randomness says:

Men who are “Stolen” wanted to be in the first place.

  74. Angel says:

    @Oh boy, well said. 🙂

  75. Eileen says:

@ jen ITA that women are our own worst enemy…where’s the girl code that if a man is married, leave him alone? No matter on if he hits on you or not. And then when a woman DARES call her out for it and make them accountable for their actions, you get crap for it. IF women stood together and came down hard on those women who have no concern for hurting other women and their kids because thet want something at all costs..it would happen much less. Human nature is we only do what works. I find it funny that because some women want to make other woman who cheat own and be accountable for their actions, those women are AGAINST other women because they recognize see past the celebrity and see two kids and an ex wife who got hurt. If I was a man, I’d feel the same about Eddie, he’s no man in my book. But we’re talking GIRL actions not men.

  76. Marjalane says:

It’s bullshit that this editor claims to have only received 40 letters; That’s not even a blip on an editors radar screen. I’d say there was more like 4000, and after the apology, someone put their publicist to work on making Shape come up with the lame 40 story. Leann’s record label has to be appalled at all this.

And by the way is the “Leann Rhimes fan club” out in full force today or what?! You guys are so obvious!

  77. icantbelievethis says:

‘Let the editor of Shape know directly how much you despise this homewrecking cow’

Seriously? You want to focus your time and energy on name calling and complaining about a cover that already happened?

There are so many worse issues in our country right now.

  78. LBees says:

That photo is… not flattering. She looks like she’s holding her breath, sucking in, and is about to pass out.

Her face, which I think is pretty cute, looks FUNKAY.

  79. Crash2GO2 says:

“Americans are so judgemental, in Europe they don’t even mention cheating. They are grown up enough to know it’s a fact of life, and not worth discussing. ”

Grown-ups accept cheating as a fact of life? Uh – I disagree. In some cultures it may be more acceptable than in others, but when you make a promise, you make a promise. Giving people passes on breaking their vows to their spouses and hurting their children is hardly being ‘grown-up’.

Then Europeans are morons. Besides, this was not a casual affair but a flat-out man hunt until she got what she wanted. Yes, he’s a weak douche, like I said, but is it any surprise that a woman with two kids doesn’t have the body of someone ten years younger? That’s why these grown up mature cheaters are almost always MEN!!!

  81. Meanchick says:

@ Darla, you said it all, LOL!

  82. Diva says:

“Nothing brings people together like a common enemy.”

I really don’t understand why Rimes is YOUR enemy, ANYONE’s enemy with the exception of Glanville.

Why is it that women in this country seem to feel that if a celebrity is wronged, THEY have been personally wronged as well? He wasn’t your husband, he didn’t cheat on you, why then do you act like he was and he did?

I’ve been cheated on, I lost everything because of it, and I was bitter toward my ex-husband and the woman who he cheated with. But just like Brandi Glanville wouldn’t take my cheating husband personally, I’m not going to take her’s personally! She’s just not that important in my life.

  83. Kimble says:

    @69

Ummmm, I’m European (English) and I don’t think cheating is ok – I think you might be thinking of the French 😉

    @ 80

Really? Europeans are morons? Okey dokey then …

  84. Maravilha says:

    @Darla

LOL! I loved your post! “big glass of STFU”! It’s brillant! Love it x

  85. Lem says:

the editor of Shape says “as you all agree Shape has made a terrible mistake in putting LeAnn Rimes on the cover.” -meaning those who wrote letters

-the editor herself did not say this as phrased
-the editor sends this same pat email to anyone who complains at any time over whomever may be on the cover
-the editor says this quote was taken out of context and only 40 out of 6 billion (or whatever) had complained and they are proud to work with Rimes

    – she’s standing by her Rimes cover

  86. Rita says:

    @Diva #82

I do not mean this to sound so direct towards you but rather to answer your question which many have asked.

When my neighbor is abused by her husband I do what I can to stop it. If I witness a rape, I testify against the rapist regardless of his threat. When I witness a child being bullied in the school yard, I talk to the principle even though it is not my child. When I witness teenagers drinking, I report them.

The attitude that “I shouldn’t care if it doesn’t directly affect me” is not part of my value system. I care about right and wrong for the sake of right and wrong enough to at least say something or those who don’t give a sh!t about anything but themselves win. When they win, the country and society I care about will lose.

  87. Lem says:

85 comments on a year old story; I’d put her on the cover too. You can’t buy that kind of publicity!

  88. Diva says:

Abuse, rape, bullying, violence in any form is a completely different matter. You’re comparing the marital infidelity of two d-list celebrities to physical harm or law breaking?

And I would venture to say you wouldn’t give two thoughts to the man or woman who committed these crimes of the heart against me, because I’m nobody to you, correct? You’re not writing empassioned letters of empathy and/or sympathy on my behalf, nor would you should there be an opportunity to. And I CERTAINLY wouldn’t expect you to.

  89. TeeTee says:

How can we forget anything, when buckle eyes keeps rolling around in the glory..

why doesn’t she keep her mouth shut about this bull–noooooo, she is sooo proud. I wish her PR pople would shut her trap.

trust me, we’d alll love to forget this horrible story..

  90. DrM says:

@ Darla…too funny. Look I agree this is old…however the adultery as “God’s Will” BS she slapped on her twitter makes it open season once again on this ‘ho…unreal…and I’m not even a Christian ya’ll LOL

  91. oeirjsljfss says:

    Gah you guise,

    Giving head burns calories!!

  92. Jaxx says:

I never said cheating is OK, I just said it happens too regularly to think it is something abnormal. It is part of the human condition and to crucify people who are weak enough to indulge in it seems silly. This particular example affects only the three adults involved and their children, and perhaps their wider family members. To make it a headline event when there are so many other problems in the world is stupid, IMHO.

Nor did I say that all Europeans cheat, I simply said they accept it happens and don’t feel the need to make it a headline event where people start wearing shirts that say TEAM _____. They consider it the business of the people involved and go on with their own lives. They don’t act all shocked and appalled at something that occurs all too often to consider crucifying the people involved as we Americans seem to do as some kind of sick spectator sport.

  93. AnnaJ says:

I don’t get all the hate towards LeANN! I always admired her personality and talent, and i happen to think she is soo cute!

  94. Steph84 says:

LeAnn has been throguh a lot in her life, she is an inspiration! STOP THE HATE!!!!!!

  95. linlin says:

Oh, Brenda, or whatever your uglyasstransvestiteface name is, stop posting shit about LeAnn from different accounts! HAHA

  96. Darla says:

    Steph

Oh she has not!!!! She a rich, entitled, spoiled brat!

  97. DD says:

Her body looks very masculine to me in that cover. I wonder if they sold a lot of copies with Leanne on the cover. She’s not attractive, even with photoshop, or interesting and that alone would deter me from purchasing the magazine.

  98. Kiska says:

Shape must be really desperate to have the editor make such a statement. Maybe their magazine is tanking and they need to appeal to those-who-are-easily-offended.

  99. Henriette says:

I’m not crazy about Leann but it was Shape’s decision to put her on the cover; they should stick by their choice and not throw Leann under the figurative bus. If you’re going to feature a cheating celeb, then have the courage of your flipping convictions!

  100. MONA says:

    Her body looks HOT!

  101. Kelly says:

I never buy this magazine but i did buy this issue, only because LeAnn was on the cover! I have always loved her music and style! Leave the girl alone, she deserves to be happy and in love!

  102. brin says:

She deserves to be cheated on by her “sweets”.

  103. Isa says:

Does Leann keep people on her payroll to run to each gossip blog and post nice comments about her? Me thinks so.

Also, the editors of Shape should have read some of the comments online about the story and cover before sending out those emails. Then they would have issued an actual appology to the entire world!

  104. jemshoes says:

It’s not what you say, it’s how you live.

God will have the last word on LeAnn’s take on things.

  105. wonderful says:

You know people, it’s ridiculous to argue about such polar extremes as, “husband stealer” or “you can’t break up a happy home.” Life is obviously way more complicated than that.
