Lindsay Lohan leaves rehab for a movie outing, spends time with her dad

Lindsay Lohan left rehab for the second time in under a week and was spotted at a bookstore and movie theater with two other women. The last time Lindsay was let out she went shopping a dropped a couple of hundred bucks at a Forever 21 store. She was also said to be seen regularly at a local Starbucks despite the fact that caffeine is banned at her facility, the Betty Ford Center. This if course begs the question of whether Lindsay is being given special privileges in rehab, where she’s been ordered to stay until January in lieu of jail. Lindsay is likely aware that it looks bad that she’s skirting around regulations. TMZ reports that she left the theater early once she was noticed. So how many other times has she ventured out of rehab and not been spotted?

Meanwhile, Lindsay’s dad is said to have reunited with her at rehab for the first time in months. The last time we heard from Michael Lohan he was holding a press conference to announce that he would no longer be talking to the press. He did of course, though, and granted an exclusive to Radar Online in which he gave details off the record of his reunion with Lindsay. Lindsay and Michael hugged and cried and talked for a few hours, after which they went shopping at a local mall. This was on Saturday, the same day that Lindsay was spotted out at the mall and the movies. So she could have started out shopping with her dad that day and capped it off with more shopping and a trip to the movies.

Lindsay Lohan has reunited with her estranged father Michael at the Californian rehabilitation clinic where she is receiving treatment for drug addiction, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.

“It was an emotional reunion… there were hugs, kisses and even a few tears when Michael and Lindsay first saw each other,” a source with knowledge of the meeting revealed to RadarOnline.com.

It is a stunning and dramatic turnaround for the 24-year-old Hollywood wild child, who has perpetually blamed her one-time drug addict dad for her problems.

The pair met soon after 1pm on Sunday at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California, we’re told.

“Lindsay met Michael at Betty Ford and the pair spent hours together… it was not a fleeting encounter, this appeared well-planned in advance,” the source said.

“They also went shopping at a local Palm Desert mall, where they were seen walking around together and at one point, were in a jewelry store.”

When RadarOnline.com contacted the Lohan patriarch for comment about the encounter, the 50-year-old dad-of-four remained tight-lipped: “I have pledged not to comment about anything relating to my daughter.

“However, what I will say is that I am an incredibly proud father tonight. My daughter is progressing extraordinarily well.”

A source close to the actress told RadarOnline.com that her father’s visit was at her invitation, while her mom, Dina, was back in New York preparing to appear on NBC’s Today Show.

“Michael turned up at Betty Ford with some gifts and items for Lindsay,” said the source.

Michael also told Radar that he is willing to go to therapy with Lindsay, after which I’m sure he’ll leak details to whichever outlet will pay the most for his daughter’s personal information.

Lindsay’s mom Dina is going to be on The Today Show this morning. I can’t wait to see how botoxed and in denial she comes across this time.

Michael may be a jerk but Lindsay is going to be better off if she stops demonizing him & making herself and her mother into saints. yes, I would cringe if he was my dad but she will be better off if she learns to see him objectively – a stupid idiot who loves her. Welcome to family dynamics, kid. Sorry you had to see something so messy when you were still so young.

  2. Jazz says:

Oh please. These two will do anything if there’s a tabloid or paparazzi involved.

Didn’t she also meet with him at Cirque Lodge in Utah that was supposed to be another heavy duty no nonsense rehab? It’s hard to tell whether she’s getting better or just going through the motions. She’s done this so many times. I’m not sure meeting with her father and going shopping is confronting those issues. She needs to get that resentment and anger out she has against him for the way he behaved as she grew up.

  4. mollination says:

well said elizabeth. I hope rehab is forcing her to confront these issues and denials.

Now here we go!! That’s what I’m talking about!

Of course Blohan’s still getting special treatment. Anyone else (read: you or me) wouldn’t be in Betty Ford if we weren’t able to pay. Unless we had someone willing to pay upon our behalf/ves.

If Michael really wants to mend his relationship with his daughter, he needs to keep their issues private. How can a daughter trust her dad when he was trying at one time to sell parts of her journal in ebay? We’ll see now how he handles this chance he has been given with LL. If you can’t trust your own parents (whom are supposed to protect you) who can this girl trust? I actually feel sorry for her.

Best step she has taken so far, Lindsy needs to leave her mother alone she is lindsey’s problem

  8. Green Is Good says:

Lilo learned the “Blame Daddy for everything” game from her Mother. The sooner she grows up and recognizes HER actions landed her in jail and rehab 27 times, the better.

    Don’t care.

I don’t think we should be up in arms about her being away from the facility. That’s how long-term rehab works. They don’t just lock you in a room to shake off your withdrawal for a week, then put you in group sessions for the rest of the time. Part of recovery is learning to live in and participate in a world WITHOUT drugs, and in order to do that, recovering addicts must be given more and more freedom. If you kept them cooped up in treatment all day, then let the free into the wilderness after 90 days, everyone would relapse ALWAYS. It’s a good thing that they feel confident enough to let her leave. That means she’s actually doing good work. I don’t like Lindsay either, but this isn’t special treatment – it’s protocol and leaving the facility is a privilege to be earned, not just handed out frivolously to the most famous person there.

As far as her dad, I honestly think that while coming to terms with her father and their relationship is ultimately a good thing, I don’t think Michael is stable enough himself to be anything more than a leech and cause of anxiety for her, which in turn will lead to the urge to use. If I were her doctor, I wouldn’t let him see her as much as I would simply delve into the relationship in sessions with her. I don’t think he’ll ever be anything more than toxic to her recovery.

I love it, I absolutely love it. Not to be outdone, Dina fires back with an appearance on the Today show.

  12. Raven says:

I’m glad she’s seeing her father now. Part of her treatment will be to discuss these visits and learn how to cope with issues that have come up. In fact, I think as long as she isn’t freaking out, more visits with him while she is in treatment is probably better–more material to work on.

  13. MarenGermany says:

i like that he they are talking, really, but i´m not holding my breath, because i remember a couple of years(?) ago, they reconciled during rehab. and he/she/they messed it up.
    so, we´ll see.

  14. Str8Shooter says:

I thought this girl was supposed to be under lock and key at rehab, instead of going to jail? Now she gets to go out shopping??

WTF is wrong with the justice system in this country?

  15. Tia C says:

On her Today Show interview, Dina mentions in passing that Lindsay is “in a home” now. So she may be in some type of halfway house. In a halfway house, you usually have to be there for meals and meetings and there is a curfew at night, but beyond that you can sort of come and go as you please.

I have a healthy skepticism, but I do hope that maybe this time around something is sinking in for her re her addiction and just her lifestyle in general. The Betty Ford Center does sound like a very good rehab. We’ll see.

  16. wunderkindt says:

PaPa Lohan will end up disrupting Lindsays rehab progress by opening his big mouth for tabloid money.
    Watch and see!

PaPa just wants to get close to Lindsay so he’ll have more ‘stories’ to sell. He’s in it for himself-not Lindsay.

  17. Henriette says:

Sad. Naturally, she’s one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood but she’s ruined her looks. Lay off the sun, the lip injections, the dye and drugs, girl.

  18. Joe Dabb Babbalucci says:

Only time will tell of if the Betty Ford personnel can help out LiLo. I am not betting on LiLo. The odds are against addicts, especially someone like her. She craves attention and will do anything for it. She likes the money, too. Really regaining her health is not a priority to her. We’ll see.
