Kanye angrily blogs about Bonnaroo disaster

Is it just me or do Kanye and his delusions of grandeur seem to cross previously unknown levels of pathetic? After disappointing fans and leaving them waiting 2 hours to see him prance around stage he wasn’t feeling the love from the crowd. Concert goers threw bottles of water and glow sticks at him on stage which resulted in breaking a giant television screen. The audience also chanted “Kanye sucks” over and over. After hearing about the backlash, West has let his fingers do the talking via his blog.

“I am sick of negative people who just sit around trying 2 plot my downfall… Why???? I understand if people don’t like me because I like me or if people think tight clothes look gay or people say I run my mouth to much, But this Bonnaroo thing is the worst insult I’ve ever had in my life. This is the most offended I’ve ever been… this is the maddest I ever will be. I’m typing so f*@%ing hard I might break my f*@%ing Mac book Air!!!!!!!! Call me any name you want…. arrogant, conceited, narcissistic, racist, metro, fag whatever you can think of…. BUT NEVER SAY I DIDN’T GIVE MY ALL! NEVER SAY I DIDN’T GIVE MY ALL! THIS SHOWS NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY TO BE GOOD AT SOMETHING THERE WILL BE PEOPLE THERE TO LIE ABOUT YOU AND BRING YOU DOWN! LIKE WAYNE SAYS PLEASE DON’T SHOOT ME DOWN CAUSE I’M FLYING! I’M F*@%ING HURT BY THIS ONE. ALL I CARE ABOUT ARE THE FANS. JUST SAY THIS OUT LOUD IN A ROOM FULL OF PEOPLE, “KANYE DOESN’T CARE ABOUT GIVING A GOOD PERFORMANCE.” CAN ANYONE HONESTLY SAY THAT ????????? HAS ANYONE EVEN TAKEN THE TIME TO AT LEAST DO THE MATH??? BONNAROO SHOULD HAVE RELEASED A STATEMENT IN MY DEFENSE BUT SINCE THEY HAVEN’T LET’S BREAK DOWN THE WALLS ON THIS TRUMAN SHOW AND LET YOU KNOW WHAT REALLY OCCURRED!!! FOR OVER A MONTH WE WENT BACK AND FORTH ON WETHER OR NOT WE COULD EVEN FIT MY STAGE AT THE FESTIVAL. ONE DAY THEY WOULD SAY YES… WE’D SEND THEM OUR SPECS THEN THEY THEY’D SAY OK… THEN THEY WOULD SEND SPECS BACK THAT DIDN’T FIT THE STAGE. WE WERE OBVIOUSLY DEALING WITH F*@%ING IDIOTS WHO DIDN’T REALLY HAVE THE CAPACITY TO REALLY PUT ON THIS SHOW PROPERLY. THEY TRIED 2 GIVE ME A TIME SLOT WERE IT WAS STILL LIGHT OUTSIDE … I HAVE A F*@%ING LIGHT SHOW DUMB ASS, IT’S NOT CALLED GLOW IN THE DARK FOR NO REASON SQUID BRAINS! MY PEOPLE WORKED OUT A COMPROMISED STAGE PLOT AND A 3AM TIME SLOT AND I AGREED. FAST FOWARD TO THE DAY OF THE SHOW. MY PRODUCTION MANAGER TRIED TO LOAD IN FOR 24 HOURS BEFORE I WENT ON STAGE BUT THE FESTIVAL WOULDN’T ALLOW US TO DO ANYTHING UNTILL PEARL JAM LEFT THE STAGE. PEARL JAM ENDED ONE HOUR
LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AT THAT POINT WE’RE RACING AGAINST THE SUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AT 4:20AM DON COMES BACK 2 THE BUS AND TELLS ME, ” IT WOULD TAKE 45 MORE MINUTES TO PUT ALL YOUR PYRO IN!” I SAY I HAVE TO GET OUT THERE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE . I HIT THE STAGE AND PEOPLE HAD BEEN THROWING SHIT ON THE STAGE AND HAD ACTUALLY HIT THE JANE SCREEN WITH, I GUESS BOTTLES OR SOMETHING AND HAD BROKEN MY F*@%NG SCREEN. REMEMBER WHEN YOU WERE A SHORTY AND WATER WOULD HIT THE TV?????? WHEN I GOT 2 “THROUGH THE WIRE” I STEPPED ON THE FRONT PART OF MY STAGE AND THERE WAS SO MUCH LIQUID ON THE STAGE I COULDN’T MOVE WITHOUT SLIPPING. I HAD TO ADJUST MY WHOLE PERFORMANCE STYLE BECAUSE OF IT. A FEW MORE SONGS IN AND THE SONG WAS ON IT’S WAY UP.. I CUT A FEW SONGS FROM THE SET BECAUSE I WANTED PEOPLE 2 EXPERIENCE STRONGER WHILE THERE WAS STILL SOME DARKNESS TO PERFORM IT IN. I’VE STRUGGLED WITH STRONGER FROM IT’S CONCEPTION. REMEMBER LAST SUMMER WHEN I CANCELED SOME TV APPEARANCES. IT WAS BECAUSE I DIDN’T WANT TO PERFORM STRONGER IN THE DAYTIME. ANYONE WHO CAME TO THE GLOW TOUR CAN UNDERSTAND WHY I WANTED PEOPLE TO SEE IT PROPERLY. IT BROKE MY HEART THAT I COULDN’T GIVE THESE FANS STRONGER IN IT’S GREATEST FORM… BY THE TIME I GOT TO STRONGER IT WAS DAYTIME AND IT BROKE MY HEART. I’M SORRY TO EVERYONE THAT I DIDN’T HAVE THE ABILITY 2 GIVE THE PERFORMANCE I WANTED TO. I’M SORRY… SOMETIMES I GO 2, 3 DAYS W/O SLEEP WORKING ON MY PERFORMANCE… I HAVE TO ICE MY KNEES AFTER EVERY SHOW AND THEY HURT WHEN I WALK THROUGH THE AIRPORT… HAVING AN EXPENSIVE STAGE CUTS MY PAYDAY IN HALF… CALL ME WHAT YOU WANT BUT NEVER SAY I DIDN’T GIVE MY ALL!!!”

I too stopped reading about three sentences in. But being that I had to force myself to read it eventually, here is the basic outline of his rant. He thinks people are sitting around plotting his downfall, just because he has more costumes than Liza Minnelli and Cher put together…it doesn’t make him “gay,” the concert organizers have “squid brains” and he only performs “Stronger” in the dark because the pretty lights are the only thing that makes it worth sitting through.

His painfully long tirade of ranting was basically an apologyfor not giving fans the entire fancy light show and not for making them stand around for hours with other irate fans.

His level of douche-baggery never ceases to amaze me.

I hate myself for saying this but I’m on his side for this one. Kanye was trying to bring one hell of a show to the stage (maybe over ambitious for this particular venue, yes) and the delays getting to the stage weren’t his fault.

That part made me crack up too XD He makes sure he’s specific even when filled with rage!

    Can’t stand this guy !

  4. Elizabeth says:

    P.S. He doesn’t give his all !!!

  5. gg says:

    That was funny! 😆

Who else laughed at the part where he says it’s the maddest he will ever be? When is it not, dumbass? Never say never, hun.

Also, he wears tight clothes? No, he does not. Nor is he so hot on the computra.

Y’all are just haters. He’s a performer, through and through. What’s not to love? I am excited to see him in Chicago for Lollapalooza. He better not f*ck around there, because he knows he just might get cut. Chi-town is NOT Kentucky or TN or wherever that country festival was held.

  7. gg says:

After now actually having read this diatribe of whining, I can say only this: That’s Show Biz, Pal. F*cking get used to it.

I have myself played music at countless outdoor gigs, festivals, Earth Day concerts, etc. and there ain’t no guarantees on an outdoor show, buddy. Nobody gets to be a diva. It’s logistically impossible.

  8. brim says:

wow….caliing bonnaroo, a good music festival, a “country festival” and looking foward to lollapalooza

“I’m typing so f*#@ing hard I might break my f*@$ing Mac book Air!!!!!!!!”

That might be the funniest thing I’ve ever read. I’ve been so pissed off I kicked the furniture, punched the wall, even flipped a table. But I can just imagine him there angrily poking away at his tiny little (probably pink) laptop… and it pains me on behalf of humanity.

I wonder how much money he got from Apple for the Macbook Air comment… they probably wrote it.

I saw Kanye at the Nice jazz festival in ’06 and his set was tastefully understated. He had a string quartet and a few back-up singers, all conservatively clad in classic black. He came on ON TIME. There was a tree almost smack in front of the stage, which he joked about amiably. I quite enjoyed myself. “My,” I thought; “What a humble and talented man.” I have since become disillusioned. Either he was phoning it in for the European hippy crowd, or he has chaaaaanged.

HOW MANY MORE HISSY FITS IS THIS BITCH GONNA THROW. I AM SO SICK OF HIS EGO I WOULDNT GO TO SEE HIM IF THE TICKETS WERE FREE.

  12. Codzilla says:

He used to piss me off, but now I look forward to his tirades. They crack me the f up every time. So keep ’em coming, baby!

Kanye is simply put — very young — classic story of too much too soon. If celebrity had come a few years later with a little more life experience, he would have had a chance to weed through all those demons. I am not a big fan, but I don’t have his success. He must be doing something right because he has “made it” and well, we are still blogging about him. He doesn’t know who we are.

Brim: I did misspeak. I just checked out the lineup for Bonnaroo and found that many of the artists that play there play Lollapalooza as well. My bad. My bias against TN.

  15. Ack! says:

bonnaroo is not a country festival, by any stretch. It’s an awesome experience all the way around, and the fans are there to take in good music, period. They’re a pretty easy going bunch and not easily riled to the point of disgust by any performer, but Kanye managed to thoroughly piss them off. Perhaps if Kanye’s show was deeper in the actual music part of it and shorter on the special effects, he wouldn’t have had such a hard time with real fans of good music. I don’t think he’ll be missed if he never shows up there again.

  16. dew says:

This reminds me of Britney’s “come-back” performance pout-fest because they wouldn’t allow her to perform with that icky magician 🙄

  17. Tabby says:

I’m guessing someone needs their dummy back.

  18. Ashley says:

I was at Bonnaroo this year. First off for him to blame Bonnaroo staff and call them “fucking idiots” is ludicrous. They’ve put on 100’s of shows over the past 7 years but then all of a sudden they’re all just to stupid to put up Kanye’s stuff? That’s Bullshit. There are more factors at play here than anyone is letting on.

If he had just had the decency to go on-stage 30 mins early and just talk to the crowd they would have been pacified. As previously said this is not an easily riled up group of people. But Kanye couldnt even do that, he just sat in his luxurious trailer and waited, and then blamed everyone else.

BTW, I’m pretty sure some of that “water” he was slipping around on stage was actually urine, as people were throwing pee filled bottles on stage too.

And for him to complain about performing on a wet stage, Bonnaroo is rain or shine. I have seen some of the best performances there when it is pouring like a mother-fucker. But that’s because those artists understand and really do try to give the fans all they can.

So in conclusion Kanye can suck a big one and I’m glad he’s pissed because there were around 80,000 other people there that were pissed off too,

    KANYE SUCKS!!

  20. EJ says:

After I came home from Bonnaroo I was pissed about the whole situation. I have been before and I will go again becuase it is a wonderful atmosphere, the music is fantastic and it is a huge festival for real music lovers, not MTV wannabees. After a week passed I had pretty much gotten over it, and was done listening to what the media had to say about Kanye, the sugar-coating was making me sick. If you were there, you know what it was really like. But after reading Kanye’s blog I am irrate.

Kanye’s “apology” was the most ridiculous thing I have ever read. Telling people that everyone else is to blame, including the people at Bonnaroo who were nothing but accomodating to him and calling them “idiots” is probably the least apologetic thing he could do. While the lateness of the show may not have been entirely Kanye’s fault, he is less of a man, performer and human being for not taking responsability for the fact that a portion of it was his fault. People don’t go to Bonnaroo for the flashing lights and over the top stage architecture. They go for the music. Kanye could have worn a trash bag and proformed on a completely empty stage and fans would have been ecstatic!

Lastly, not one person that I spoke to at the festival nor since I have been back have made any comments about Kanye not giving his all, in fact that is one of the only things I can think of to defend him. BUT actions speak louder than words, and if you are going to show up that late and not even try to make a real apology for it, then what is a good proformance worth?

  21. The Old KC says:

I NEVER in a million years thought I would say this but, I am feeling his pain on this one. This is a simple case of miscommunication between his people and the stage setup folks at Bonnaroo. And, I agree with his point that he can’t help it if the acts before him were 1 hour late. However, he does need to learn to compromise for the sake of being professional. What should’ve happened is, he should have gone on with the show without the extensive pyro stuff and let his MUSIC DO THE TALKING. If he’s so good, I’d like to hear it come off in his music rather than the elaborate lights and such. But I do kind of see some of his points on this one.

  22. Yeah, life sucks Kanye. Consider yourself fortunate that this is the worst thing you have to bitch about. And as for the delays in performance time, the ill communications, the etc. etc… get over it. Doesn’t it come with the industry? Sure, you had a shitty show, but did you really think that you were immune to having shitty shows? Hail eris, boy. If this totatl let-down really wasn’t indicative of your actual self, then prove it! Go back and do a free show or something, i don’t know. maybe that’s not economically feasible, but do something other than break your mac-air. the last thing we need is for apple to make more money.

  24. tmanno says:

Phil Lesh said it best “If your music is good you don’t need all that stuff” referring to his “Blow in the Dark” show. Kanye plays no instrument and his lyrics are god awful. I too have been in a car accident, but you don’t here me rapping about it. Bonnaroo learned their lesson this year, only book classy rap artists like Talib Kweli and The Roots.
