Drew Barrymore & Justin Long break up

Drew Barrymore’s rep has confirmed that she and boyfriend Justin Long have split up, after dating for almost a year. I don’t know why, but of all the celebrity splits of late this one surprises me the most. Justin and Drew were just one of those couples that seemed really, really happy together. Like, ridiculously happy. They made a lot of sense together, and seemed to complement each other. I thought they’d been together a lot longer than a year… it was just something about their interactions. I can’t really put my finger on it. Of course Drew’s rep also said they remain good friends, which could actually be true since they were friends for seven years before they got together.

Maybe Drew Barrymore prefers PCs after all. The 50 First Dates star and her frequent PDA partner Justin Long have parted ways after nearly a year of dating, Barrymore’s rep confirms to E! News.

A source close to the pair told Us Weekly, which first reported the breakup, that they remain friends.

At least they’ll have some alone time before they have to simultaneously walk the red carpet at the premiere of the relationship-book-inspired ensemble comedy He’s Just Not That Into You, which hits theaters Feb. 6, 2009.

In March, she told Vogue that she was so happy, “my cheeks hurt.”

“They’re two peas in a pod, they’re made for each other,” Barrymore’s Charlie’s Angels costar Sam Rockwell told People just last month. “They’re like Mr. and Mrs. Warmth.”

[From E! News]

Hopefully Drew and Justin are staying actual friends and not PR friends. Or that red carpet walk is going to be really awkward. They both seem like pretty happy, easy-going people, so you’d think that if anyone had a chance of being cool with each other it be the two of them.

What do these hollywood types drink in their water, one moment they are all over each other, the next they have split. Weird.

  2. str says:

yes, lola, strange, in real life this kinda thing never ever happens

  3. coconut says:

i have been noticing in the photos of them for a long time that she looks ecstatic and he doesn’t look that excited or into her and the body language confirms this. in the photos above she is snuggled up into him and he seems stiff and formulaic.

🙁 i really wanted them to work out – i like drew and mac!

  5. Kaiser/ Hippacrat says:

Yeah… Drew looks really happy with whoever she’s with, and every relationship has been in is “the best” – I don’t really blame her, she’s likes dating, being a “girlfriend”. But at some point, I just want to shake her and yell “Do we have to do this every time?!?”

  6. Embee says:

Wow she looks so great in this photo! I love Drew! Doesn’t it seem like she is always super “into” the guy she’s with? I guess that’s good but she seems to cool off pretty quickly, too.

  7. Anna says:

Awww, what a shame. I loved them together, they were über-cute! I mean, it was kinda clear they’d never marry (I wonder if and when Drew will), but still they seemed to make each other so happy. I wish them both the best of luck.

She seems like a commitment-a-phobe. In relationships the “butterfly” moments start to fade after about 5-6 months. Seems like she tosses them not too long after. Ps, the outfit is Gucci and she dressed it up great!

  9. kimmi says:

I saw it coming. Drew seems way too ditzy to be in a serious, long term relationship. She reminds me a little of Kate– too flighty, too giddy.

  10. Anastasia says:

Geez! I really like her (except for the way she talks like she’s had a stroke) and I keep hoping she’ll finally find true love and settle down. But nope.

    Next!!!
It is kinda sad the way Drew cycles through guys-maybe someday she will end up with Mr Right-someone who can match her drink for drink.

    Drew… Drew…
Drinking and partying constantly doesn’t really add up to a solid relationship.

Seemed like these two were destined for the trash heap from what I observed. These two have been stumbling drunk around Hollywood and LA for the last year. I guess one of them finally sobered up…

“Geez! I really like her (except for the way she talks like she’s had a stroke)” HA! Awesome.

He looks like that Shia LaFruitt.

  14. Kristin says:

I read this earlier and was sad.

  15. coconut says:

do we know if she does most of the dumping or if the guys are?

  16. Granger says:

What annoys me about Drew is her tendency to gush so openly about whatever man is currently in her life — about how wonderful he is, how happy they are, how this relationship is the best thing that’s ever happened to her. For god’s sake, woman, learn to keep your mouth shut already!

  17. Lisa says:

Give her a break people! Maybe she is really happy at first. Isn’t everyone when a relationship is new. Then you think you’re in love, then things start to go wrong. It happens to the best of us. I’ve been through several long relationships and many short ones and I think I am the same way.

  18. Bookie says:

Drew can afford$$$ to be happy. She can cycle through men as MEN have cycled through women for more decades than women ever had. It’s not sad, it’s liberating.
Although she would be more fun if she kept
those toys hush hush like George Clooney or Decaprio or the likes of Prince. Keeping them underwrap, then toss them out when done. She’s a whole family of rich and successful good for her. Equal dating, equal dumping. Just saw “He’s just not into you” Justin Long deserved to be dumped.
