Emma Stone goes blonde: miss the red, or do blondes have more fun?

fp_6209548_rij_trevor_live_46_79

These are new photos of Emma Stone last night, at the Trevor LIVE event, which was a charity event benefiting The Trevor Project, one of the charities we’ve spotlighted in our charity section. It’s an organization that advocates for suicidal gay teens, and many celebrities work with the group, including prominent spokesman Daniel Radcliffe. Anyway, Emma Stone was one of the big celebrities at the event, and she showed off her new hair – blonde, with bangs trauma. Ugh.

Emma used to a redhead, which I thought was natural (ish), but she told MTV that she’s actually a natural blonde, saying: “My natural hair is blonde, so it’s kind of nice. I looked in the mirror and said, ‘Oh my god, it’s me again! It’s been so long!'” Um, do you buy that she’s a “natural” blonde? I don’t. I bet her natural color is something like a nondescript light brown, and maybe she was blonde when she was a kid. Also, she apparently went blonde for her role in the Spiderman reboot, and she’s playing Gwen Stacy. So… at least it’s for a role, I guess.

So… how do you think Emma looks? I kind of hate it. She looks so “Starter Kit Starlet” now. There were photos of Brittany Snow at this event too, and you can barely tell them apart. I hope Emma goes back to red.

I miss the red. I think redheaded women are attractive.

  2. Arianna says:

    NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    as a fellow (nice) ginger,
I HATE THIS GO BACK TO RED.

how can you have that dark of eyebrows with that light of hair?

  3. aenflex says:

It looks great! But it also totally changes her look and perhaps part of her appeal with earlier fans. I wonder if it’s too early in her career for something this drastic? I like her and hope she doesn’t now also choose a role that corresponds with the new look.

  4. Ferguson. says:

she’s so pretty any color would look fantastic on her; so yes, she looks awesome as a blonde, but please please please go back to being a redhead.

  5. brin says:

She looks like Sienna Miller with blonde hair. Think she should go back to red.

  6. Lisa Turtle says:

She is a closeted lesbian, if her career keeps going in the direction it is, she will never come out and in a few years she’ll be bearding for Jake Gyllenhaal.

  7. David says:

    I miss her red

  8. KJ says:

I think she looks great as both, simply because she has such a great face, but I think the red brings out her features more. I’ve read that she’s a natural blonde before. In a NYLON interview she said she dyed it to play her part in Superbad at the suggestion of the director. I buy it, but the red makes her face really lovely.

Her make up looks gorgeous, also. Not really feeling the dress, though. It looks like it’s not tailored correctly or at all.

  9. moviegoer says:

Nawwwww back to red! the red looked way better on her! lol

  10. Lucy says:

I miss her read hair. Now she looks like any another wannabe starlet.

  11. Alejandro says:

    She looks like Lindsay.

  12. mslewis says:

I think the blonde hair would look better if she lighten up on the eye makeup. Otherwise, she’s pretty in any color hair.

  13. sasa says:

I actually prefer blond on her although I love red in general. Her face (which is very pretty) doesn’t say redhead to me. I get the cutesy, bubbly vibe more, while red requires stronger features or a goofier face. I’m going red this week so I’m counting on my goofy face. 🙂

  14. lee says:

    @lisa turtle,

as a lesbian with a closet crush on emma stone, i demand proof/details!

  15. chasingadalia says:

    Nooooo!

This ginger dislikes the blonde. And not just on principle, but also because it looks hideous on her.

  16. rentho says:

the red hair made her unique, she now looks like every other blonde in hollywood HOPEFULLY its just for a role

  17. Ashley says:

    Its those awful brows

  18. sasa says:

I don’t think it’s very unique to have your hair color make you unique. IMHO.

  19. Sigh. says:

What about that dress made of clearance fabric remnants paired with those shiny green shoes?

    O_o

  20. KelJo says:

Count me as one of those that prefers her as a redhead. Also, I believe she went blonde for her role in The Help (I think that’s what it’s called…based on a popular book).

@Arianna…you definitely can have lighter hair and dark brows. I was born with a full head of dark hair, promptly lost it, and when it started growing back, it was pale blonde, but has darkened to a light brown over the years. In all that time though, my brows remained dark, and have always been darker than my hair color.

  21. Brooke says:

I do think the color is flattering to her complexion, but I think that unfortunately she is a dead ringer for Amanda Seyfried in this haircolor with that eye makeup; therefore, Emma, please go back to red!

  22. LSUTR says:

    noooo she looks aweful

TRANSFORMATION TOO LINSAY LOHAN 70% COMPLETE

  23. bellaluna says:

Memo to Emma: Go back to red. It looks much better on you.

  24. serena says:

    I HATE her blonde.
She may be natural but she looks better reddish or brunette she would be stunning.
Like that she’s just one of the thousand blonde girls out there. wtf

  25. kiko says:

    that looks bad…

  26. Sam says:

She is pretty no matter what, but why would she want to be just another blonde in Hollywood?? the red was so much cooler and suited her better.

As a fellow bottle red head we have to stick togehter! My hair as a child was light blonde, but as i got older it turned mousy brown. I guess i could also say i am a natural blonde if she says it…

  27. The_Porscha says:

I like red better. Blonde makes her look a little cookie cutter, but she’s still beautiful. I’d kill her for that dress, though.

  28. Nina says:

It’s all about the tone of your hair. According to my hairdresser, I am technically a dark blonde but to any casual observer, my hair looks to be light brown. Judging from her eyebrows, I’d say Emma is a medium to dark blonde naturally.

The blonde looks fine on her, even good. But soooo many people are bottle blondes that it just throws her into the huge pile of ‘oh, another Hollywood blonde’.

So in that sense, the red was better. And ugh. Bangs trauma. No.

  29. Bodhi says:

Ditto KelJo! I was born with black hair, which promptly fell out. My hair grew in light, almost white blonde & got darker (between champagne & honey blonde) as I’ve gotten older, but I still have very dark brows.I have a few very blonde & a few very red hairs in my brows. My husband is blonde with red facial hair, which is making me hope that our baby will have red hair!

Anyway, I think she looks a lot like Amy Smart in these pictures

  30. Mingy says:

i thinks it looks good. i like the cut too.

  31. lucy2 says:

I think it looked way better red. Everyone called her the new LIndsay, maybe she took it too seriously!
But really, I’m hoping it’s for a role – congrats to her for being in the film version of The Help, great book.

  32. mercy says:

I LOVE THE HAIR COLOR ON HER!! It is much fresher looking. I thought she looked kind of grungy before with darker hair. This is lovely on her. I hate the dress though.

  33. insidescoop says:

    Cute!

  34. california angel says:

I’m a redhead: ) It’s awesome to see there are lots of gingers representing.: ) She looks great either way I think, wouldn’t she look rad with black hair?

  35. Jackson says:

Ugh. No. No to the blonde hair, the dress, the makeup. I think she is a pretty girl and generally looks nice in the few pics I’ve seen of her at events but this entire look is just bad, bad, bad on her. Go red, brunette, whatever, just not that blonde. And not that style. Starter Starlet, indeed.

  36. Patrice says:

Kaiser, I’m with you on this one! No way this girl’s hair would naturally be that color now. I’ve noticed that a lot of bottle blondes claim that they are “natural blondes” and when you ask them they’re like, “oh yeah, I mean, I had blonde hair when I was a toddler”! Lol.

BTW: You can totally tell by the way the hair is randomly comining out of the top of the middle of her head that that’s a wig she’s wearing above. Idk, maybe she’s testing out the blonde first…

  37. Eve says:

Looks like a bug-eyed Sienna Miller.

  38. Ron says:

She’s one meth hit away from being Lindsay! Bring the red back ASAP.

  39. chasingadalia says:

You know what makes it worse? That eyeliner. Looking at the photos again, I’m thinking it’d be better if she wiped off the eyes.

  40. trishy says:

NOOOOOOO! First step down the Lindsay Blo-han road. Emma, I don’t care if you’re naturally blonde. Please bring back the ginger!!

  41. Skye says:

I liked the red hair on her too. She looks very genrric with the blonde hair. And yeah, that is a wig so hopefully she’ll take it off and stick with the red…

  42. Nicole says:

I think she looks good as a blonde, but the red hair made her stand out from the crowd. Now she looks like every other nameless (but pretty) Hollywood blonde.

  43. Tomas says:

it looks good blonde, i think it might compliment her skin color better than the red but both are nice.

  44. Reema says:

    SIENNA MILLER MUCH!

  45. HakuraChii says:

She doesn’t look *bad* as a blonde, but I *definitely* think the red is the best choice for her. It gives her skin a ‘glow’, and makes her stand out.

There are so many blondes in hollywood already. I have naturally very dark hair (and chalk-white skin) that I regularly dye bright red. It does wonders for your skin ‘tone’. =)

  46. Camille says:

NOT a fan of the blonde. She looks much, much better as a redhead. She is forgettable looking now 🙁 .

  47. Marianne says:

I think it’ll need some time to get used too. Plus I dont think those bangs help.

  48. Gabriela says:

WOW, I never realized how pretty she is!
She is like a younger and better version of Melinda Clarke! Gorgeous as a blonde!

  49. notsoanonymous says:

I agree that this totally looks like a wig to me…

…as in the EXACT same style wig we just saw on Swifty.

  50. Maritza says:

Red looks so much better on her, plus goes with her personality and her freckles. There are way too many blondes in Hollywood!

  51. Emily says:

At least I know she has a soul now. But seriously, she looks so much hotter red. Blonde washes her out, and makes her blend in with everyone else.

  52. crtb says:

    She looks awful!!!

    Who needs another blonde?
    How boring!

  53. ctkat1 says:

She’s adorable either way, but the red hair set her apart.

  54. Bitter fruit says:

    Who?

  55. Sally says:

Wow, her eyes look gorgeous here.

  56. HakuraChii says:

@notsoanonymous (#49) – I hadn’t even noticed, but I think you’re right. Not sure why, but maybe the ‘blunt’ cut of the bottom is what makes it look like a wig. (Hopefully it IS a wig, I liked it better the other way.

  57. Ruffian9 says:

    Noooooo!

If you can pull off the red (I can’t, dammit)it really is so gorgeous. Hollywood has far too many ‘blondes’ already.

  58. Vera says:

I do like the red, but the blonde does not look bad. With the cut and it being straight, she could pull off mod very well. But, I do hope she will go red again at some point.

  59. skeptical says:

what is with the love of blonde hair in LA? everyone wants to be blonde! i don’t get it! Even Samantha Ronson is blonde now.

is there something in the water?

Go back to red! My natural hair is a bland boring dishwater blonde/brown
Borrrring! I started dying it red as soon as Mom allowed it!

I wants the redhead! I wants the redhead!
