PETA calls out Sarah Palin for killing caribou, hunters say she did it wrong

Warning: the above video shows an animal being killed. If this bothers you, please do not watch it

Yesterday in our story on Kate Gosselin’s miserable attitude while camping with Sarah Palin I mentioned that Palin was shown hunting and killing a caribou in the episode of “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” that aired on Sunday. (The Kate Gosselin episode will air this coming Sunday, I was initially confused about that.) You can watch the video of Palin killing the caribou above. Palin was out with her father hunting, and she enthused about how much better she felt after she shot the animal, saying that “when you see that you have a successful hit, it’s a great feeling of accomplishment.” She also said a few words about the animal, “In the words of Ted Nugent, we thank that mighty animal for livin’ a good life, now sustaining a nice family.” She narrated afterwards that “I’m always really happy when I do get an animal because usually my dad is by my side when I’m hunting, it’s like ‘see dad I listened to what you said and I learned something and we accomplished it together.'”

Here’s how I feel about this, and I’ll just get this out of the way. I’m not a hunter, I don’t come from a family that hunts, and my parents are vegetarians. However, I eat meat so I feel I have no room to complain. I understand that animals in factory farming conditions are treated abhorrently, as many of you pointed out in the comments yesterday. At least hunting usually kills them quickly and humanely while they’re in the wild. Is it fair to the defenseless animals? No. Neither is living in terrible factory farming conditions. Hunting is a cultural thing as well, and maybe if my family or friends hunted I would feel differently about it.

PETA has of course chimed in about this scene, and they’re somewhat smug as usual. It’s all to be expected but at least they didn’t go on about it. And also typical is Sarah Palin (her ghostwriter’s) defense of including that hunting footage, in which she calls out anyone who would criticize her for it.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) vice president Dan Mathews released a statement to Fancast sharing his thoughts.

“Sarah seems to think that resorting to violence and blood and guts may lure people into watching her boring show. But the ratings remain as dead as the poor animals she shoots,” the statement said.

Palin, for her part, guessed that the show might make waves and issued several statements of her own on Facebook and Twitter–before the show even aired. “Tonight’s hunting episode ‘controversial’?” she wrote on her Facebook page Sunday. “Really? Unless you’ve never worn leather shoes, sat upon a leather couch or eaten a piece of meat, save your condemnation of tonight’s episode. I remain proudly intolerant of anti-hunting hypocrisy.”

[From Popeater]

She’s egging people on, she has a formula and it usually works for her. Case in point.

Much more amusing are the hunters chiming in on how Sarah came across in that scene – like an amateur! I know nothing about hunting but all this cracks me up given how she’s trying to portray herself.

In this most recent episode, a woman who has blindly championed the NRA and legitimized her frontier-woman status by claiming to be a “lifelong hunter” comes across as anything but.

For starters, Palin and pa head out on a long hunt without bothering to sight in Palin’s rifle, a mistake no serious hunter would ever make. Why Palin’s dad chose for her a “varmint rifle” for a caribou hunt and why Palin, an admitted “moose hunter,” would not question such a gun’s appropriateness is never answered.

From there, numerous bungles along the way to finally downing the caribou show a hunting tourist who, at worst, appears to pose a genuine danger to fellow outdoorsmen.

On Palin’s own Facebook page, a viewer wrote, “What a joke. I was a fan before the show. No one who is a true hunter lets others carry their rifle or can’t load their own shells. Sarah, you are a phony in this area of your ‘skills.”

Several others wondered why Palin, an experienced hunter, didn’t bring her own rifle, pointing out that familiarity with one’s weapon is a core principle of hunting. Another pointed out, regarding Palin’s veteran hunter dad, “I was surprised to see him using the gun as a walking stick.”

Several hunter friends to whom I showed the video were less than impressed. All agreed that she did not look like she had handled a gun many times. One, who just posted his November kill on his Facebook profile, said “I would not hunt with her.”

In the episode, Palin is handed a second gun, which, thanks to good video editing, she uses to down the animal in one shot.

But knowledgeable hunters would have all recoiled in horror watching Palin immediately place her finger on the trigger of the “hot” Savage 110 as it was handed to her. Keeping one’s finger off the trigger until the very moment of the shot is the first lesson any responsible hunter ever learns.

[From TheAwl.com via WeSmirch]

It actually goes on with even more examples that show Sarah Palin doesn’t know how to hunt or handle a firearm. What’s more is that she wore camouflage instead of recommended hunter orange. Isn’t it funny that people on both sides of the hunting issue aren’t impressed?

My dad was a hunter, and my hubby is a hunter. I’m opposed to it – I rarely eat meat; I do wear leather; since hubby eats the meat, I wear the leather, and I figure it all balances out.

Gun safety has been drilled into my head since I was a child. I don’t hunt, but I know how to safely handle a firearm. Team Hunters on this one.

  2. sapphire says:

She probably used a machine gun from the back of a pick-up on a prior hunting trips. What I want to know is did she dress it out properly? I bet you she didn’t. One more reason why I don’t hunt.

  3. Jackson says:

It doesn’t surprise me. This woman is a phony, through and through.

And re: the ‘do you wear leather?’ comment: I read awhile back about how the *only* reason leather is so prevalent is because people eat so much beef. The cost to raise cows for their hide would be astronomical and would never happen. The income from cattle is the meat, not the leather. The hide has become an almost ‘throwaway’ commodity. So, in other words, people who wear leather aren’t the ones sustaining the cattle industry and it’s practices, the people who eat the meat are. /offofsoapbox/

  4. Crash2GO2 says:

Haha – that is funny. Nice to hear the hunters weigh in.

  5. mln76 says:

Sarah Palin is a phony and an idiot.I am glad the hunters are exposing her but I am on her side against those dolts at PETA.

I eat meat once or twice a month and when I do I try for organic or free range.
I have to say I approve of hunting. I know alot of people in rural areas kill deer (that are overpopulated anyway) and use the meat for the entire winter.
Factory farming is the real evil, as are any hunters who go after rare or endangered species.
Now when it comes to me picking up a gun and shooting an animal (not to mention skinning etc) I am way too chicken shit.
PETA is one of the most hypocritical organizations out there period.

  6. james says:

    I am a lifelong vegetarian.
I understand and respect the food chain.I have much more respect for a hunter who knows where their meal is coming from than any KFC,Burger King mindless consumer. Factory farming IS a horror show.
The thing about Palin though is I really think she shows an ignorance and smugness that translates anything she does into amateur hour.

  7. reality says:

I don’t eat meat, the thought of gnawing on a bone grosses me out, but I do wear leather/suede boots, etc. and I try not to be a sanctimonious hypocrite.

I’m not sure how I feel about hunting as a sport, but for food- that’s fine with me. It seems more honorable than just turning a blind eye on the cruelty of the whole meat industry, and essentially living in denial about where you’re food comes from.

  8. Roma says:

While I don’t hunt, I’m originally from Alberta and I have lots of friends (including girlfriends) who did when I was growing up. I can respect hunting though I could never go do it myself.

That being said: she is obviously a novice hunter. Maybe she went out once or twice before but I hate that she bigs herself up as this great outdoors woman who clearly cannot handle a rifle. I went snorkeling a few times in the ocean; in Sarah Palin’s world does this make me an expert scuba diver?

  9. Kaye says:

I’m shocked! Shocked, I tell you! Sarah Palin is a liar and a phony? We’ve only known that for the last 2 years.

  10. Whitey Fisk says:

Her idiocy is so blatant that she has driven hunters and PETA to agree with each other – I wonder if she can appreciate the message that sends about her. Probably not.

James said: “The thing about Palin though is I really think she shows an ignorance and smugness that translates anything she does into amateur hour.”

Well put. Imagine just watching her watch paint dry. She would somehow make it both annoying and offensive. Sherwin Williams would probably have to issue a statement distancing themselves from her and the paint-drying fiasco she’d inevitably create.

  11. texasmom says:

I’ve never hunted, thanks to being a big wuss, but am not against hunting on principal. Where I live, there are hunters galore, and I know people who eat what they kill and donate meat to food charities, etc. One of my kids’ friends killed his first deer in the first grade — age six. So just how hard can modern hunting with modern weapons be??

  12. bros says:

I could give a crap about peta, but the hunters calling her out is hilarious. she’s a complete poser, and everything I see a part of that show, I am convinced she has just been living under a rock. she doesnt know how to do anything! halibuts are weird to her, she is ignorant on sea life, she cant use a clamming shovel, she is just plain ignorant and a show-boater who thinks no one will notice if she chirps enough and smiles real pretty like, as in her pageants. im so glad people are calling her out.

  13. Chrissy says:

In the episode, it was obvious she doesn’t hunt often … who cares?? She never seemed to be portraying herself as someone who knew what she was doing regarding hunting. If she was trying to hide the fact that she is an amateur hunter, she wouldn’t have allowed her receiving so much help to be filmed. Her background is in commercial fishing.

  14. Danny says:

LOL on the libs getting apoplectic over Sarah Palin. Feel the wrath! Boo hiss. Isn’t it awful that she is not going away?

  15. di butler says:

Perhaps you needed to see the show in context. I actually saw it, against my will, and her father used his UNLOADED rifle in order to navigate a steep ravine after taking a fall. Hunters do this. Palin and her father both sighted the rifle she used, she complained the sights were off, that was the reason she was having trouble. Dad made a friendly 5 dollar wager and he practiced with it after she killed the Bou. He admitted she was right, and that he owed her the 5 dollars. You wear orange when you are in a hunting area such as a lodge area or heavily trafficked area. They were approx 15 mi from all civilization on an open plain. The hunters are just trying to stir up sh*t. Why can’t people like or dislike her strictly on her politics versus her kid’d dancing or Facebook or the color of her hunting attire. This is beyond immature and downright tacky. I don’t bash Megan McCain, Malia Obama, or Chelsea Clinton. OFF LIMITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Trillion says:

I’m a “lib” and I have to tell you Danny, we actually love it. The Grift that keeps on Grifting. Can’t you see that? I especially love that she quotes Wang Dang Ted Nugent. Hilarious. You just can’t make this stuff up. If she gets into any office it will be “Mean Girls” meets “Idiocracy”.
The only people who need to really worry about her are conservatives with brains.

  17. Laurie says:

To the Palin haters – she will never do anything right. Palin haters like to think she is stupid and probably cannot even recite her ABC’s. Since she gets her haters so riled up over silly things, makes me start to like her more and more. She is doing something right and it irritates the heck out of people that claim to be tolerant to everyone’s differences.

  18. davis says:

hate to break the news to you guys…I’m avid collector and hunter.
A savage 110 is fine to use. It is the round that is important. I have same gun. Actually on the cheap side which surprises me.
A guide to carry your gun believe it or not is not unusual, especially for a woman, guns are heavy.
    Peta is stupid and pathetic

  19. bros says:

chrissy, sorry, she isnt a commercial fisherwoman, and neither is her family. they have a fish camp and are allowed to subsistence fish because Todd is part native and entitled to subsistence fish a ton more fish than the non-native is allowed to sport catch for the season. they catch fish to be used for the family and probably some more to give away to the extended family, but she isnt a commercial fisherwoman. all you have to do is watch the Homer (my home town) episode of her on a halibut boat to see how obvious that becomes.

no one commercially fishes salmon off a skiff in a cove.

  20. El Predicto says:

I found it tragically ironic that she shot a caribou/reindeer on a show two weeks before Christmas. Too bad “Grandma Did/nt Get Run Over By A Reindeer”

  21. Obvious says:

@di butler, wow. want a juicebox?

I would say when hunting wearing orange is always in good sense. You have no idea if another hunt is near you. better safe than dead.

and i started out disliking her for her politics, and then she put her life and her kid’ lives out there for the world to see, and I dislike her even more.

btw, are you a hunter? did you ask any hunters about your claims? if no, i’m sticking with the thoughts of other hunters. besides, this is also the woman who shoots at wolves from a freakin helicopter! wonder how she would like it if the tables we turned…

  22. waldemar says:

I would like to say one thing.

Deer aren’t overpopulated. We are and we are taken in THEIR space.

  23. lrm says:

But peta can stfu as far as i’m concerned. people have a right to hunt, and if you are multi generation from a rural state or area-idaho, wyoming, etc., then you certainly have a right to hunt following legal guidelines….
anyway, palin is *too* easy at this point-to make fun of. it’s boring.
i hope she doesn’t run for prez, not b/c she’s lame, but b/c i can scarcely handle the lame-o, bipolar party jokes anymore. people are ALL clueless if they think this is about repub and dem or tea party…ugh.

  24. Trillion says:

Laurie: She sure is doing something right – marketing herself to reality television/”lamestream” media and raking in big $. So if that’s your standard for a person’s worth, she’s your girl. So is Kim Kardashian, Tila Tequila, The Situation, Heidi Montag, etc. etc. Like human versions of Big Macs or something. Bravo.

  25. bros says:

I agree trillion: she is doing something right, and that consists of being a vapid photogenic famewhore with as much talent as the aforementioned TV trash.

  26. kelBear says:

If you hunt, you should be able to fully know how to handle your own gun. That is a must and if you can’t load it yourself than don’t use it. My husband is a police officer and the first time he brought his gun home after graduation he showed me how to use load it and use it. If I have to be around it I want to know how to use it.

  27. Feebee says:

While I understand the history and necessity of hunting throughout human history, these days 80% of hunting simply seems to be a show. It’s hardly a sport (not when only one side is armed). Maybe for Mrs Palin it’s more like “look at me, look how tough I am, I’m outside with a gun and I shot a animal just standing there!”. And now it appears (from experts, not I) that she’s cocked that up too.

  28. Whatever says:

I live in a hunting area and have issues with hunting that have nothing to do with killing the animals. There are true hunters here, but there are also douchenozzles from surrounding states that have no idea what they are doing. The locals who are lifelong hunters and do it right hate them too. I have a neighbor who works for the state game commission. He has shown me pictures that he has taken as part of his job of the beer cans, vodka bottles, food wrappers, etc that these morons leave all over the woods. Not ok, this is our home and we don’t appreciate it at all.

I am also not ok with things like baiting, which is illegal, but happens every single year. It is a huge problem during bear season. They like to bait the bears for days and weeks ahead of bear season because it is short and bears have a huge range and the fat hunters are too lazy to walk miles looking for them, so they bait the area where they will hunt ahead of time. Last year, a pregnant mother bear was shot in her den, which is also illegal as hell in this state. It isn’t right and it isn’t really hunting, just like Sarah’s ususal method of shooting animals from helicopters is not hunting. No real hunter does any of these things, but hunting season brings out the idiots, as well as the hunters. I also hate when they kill the beautiful animals, just to mount their heads and don’t use the meat. This happens more than you’d think and its wasteful and sad. End of rant.

  29. Dancing says:

Whatever.. Family of hunters here… If everybody listened to PETA this world would be overrun by wild animals, causing alot of damage and danger to people. So I don’t listen to anything they say.. And I haven’t seen her show, however, seeing what the hunters have written it kind of sounds like she should stop tooting her, great white hunter horn, I don’t hunt. I have in the past a little but not mush. My husband son and son in law, brothers etc etc all do and I have no problem with it. But safety does come first and its more important to be safe then too look cool.. I don’t dislike Palin per say but not exactly on her band wagon either so this opinion is pretty objective.. unlike the liberals that are going to get on here now and start spewing crap just for the sake of it… on your mark.. get set.. GO

  30. filthycute says:

    I loathe this stupid b*tch.

  31. MissyA says:

I’m a vegetarian (12 years running) and a staunch proponent of hunter’s rights. I’d prefer it if people understood where their meat came from, and offered homage to the animal that sacrificed its life to feed your family. I think more Americans would eat a balanced diet (and respect our beautiful land/natural resources!!) if people were required to hunt for their animal protein.

I can’t condone anyone who quotes Ted Nugent, or supports his line of thinking. I hate him and his barbaric mentality towards hunting (one huge cock show!) I wrote this a while ago, but it’s totally applicable now.

“Ted Nugent touts himself as an avid outdoorsman . . . but it’s well known amongst hunters that he’s pampered and incredibly unsportsmenlike.

In South-Central Colorado he paid ludicrous amounts of money to hunt on private land heavily populated with elk. He refused to pay extra for the ATV he insisted on having. He then proceeded to shoot an elk in the gut (a stupid, impatient shot), but refused to track it and give fair chase, thereby sentencing the creature to a long and painful death – all because tracking it would entail too much effort on his part. On an ATV.

Instead, the “adamant hunter” wanted to take aim at another elk nearby. He threw a hissy fit when the guide wouldn’t let him and insisted they should track the first elk. Nuge bitched about it until they all agreed to head back to base. On ATVs. He tried to hunt the same land next year, but they refused to take his money.”

Sounds like Nuge and Palin are birds of a feather. I hope they get flushed out soon.

  32. Hakura says:

This is just great xD Regardless of who I agree with or why, seeing her get nailed from both sides just made my day.

Pointing out how full of it she is will always get me on someone’s side, at least partially. x)

  33. Jules says:

She will do anything for attention.

  34. Nudgie says:

I just hope to God the next time she and her Dad go hunting they take Dick Cheney along….

  35. lucy2 says:

I find it interesting that many hunters found her skills lacking, considering she has long promoted herself as some great outdoors(wo)man. Oddly enough I’ve seen that reaction to other aspects of her show, besides hunting.
PETA’s obnoxious. I bet they couldn’t wait for this opportunity to present itself, they probably had the smug and stupid statement written ages ago.

I’d be happy to just dislike her politics and be done with it, but she (and her family) crossed that line a long time ago and are everywhere, all the time. If you put all this other stuff out there, people are going to respond.

  36. Nanz says:

I was a vegetarian before I became pregnant and then I couldn’t keep vegetables down. I have been debating whether to return to my veggie ways…. Anyhoo, watching SP jostle that poor animal’s head around for a photo-op made me a little sick to my stomach. I know it’s dead, but it just seems so disrespectful to the “mighty animal” who is now supposedly going to sustain her family.

  37. Erin says:

@Dancing – specious reasoning. Animal populations have naturally held themselves in balance for millenia without a-holes picking them off from helicopters.

I am a vegan, I HATE PETA, and I absolutely respect hunters who hunt for food. Not my choice, but I still respect it, unlike mass produced meat from factory farms. That being said, I find Palin disingenuous…I feel that so much of what she does is part of a contrived image. Also, she is a trophy/sport hunter, which I find repugnant. Whatever. She’s gross, but it scares me that she doesn’t seem to be going away!!!

  38. Jeri says:

Exposed for the phony she is. Justice exists.

  39. thescot says:

And don’t even get me started on the hypocrisy of looking in the freezer and making it out that’s the reason she needs to go hunting. This expedition cost around $42,000. You can feed most families for a year for less than that

  40. Randomness says:

Awe, come on people! How do you think we’ve survived this long! We should be thankful to our ancestors that they were hunters and kept our generations going so now, we can all become vegetarians and vegans galore!
    P.S.
I hope they did eat that thing. Otherwise I might be pissed.

  41. girl says:

I’m a bit torn on this. I think the putting her finger on the trigger pretty much from the moment she had the weapon rather than waiting til she had a clear or prett clear shot is very amateur and not a “no” but a “HELL NO” when you are dealing with firearms. On the other hand, I know many experienced hunters who only wear the “safety cone” orange or neon yellow when they are among trees and not out in the open like they appear to be in the clip.

I do have to wonder the motivation of the person making the statement on behalf of hunters is. He leads of with politicaly charged statements. One doesn’t have to be a gun expert to support the position of the NRA. After watching that clip, SP doesn’t come off as one.

  42. Patrice says:

An f*ng VARMIT (ie small animal)rifle to take down a giant Caribou?! I’m the furthest thing form a hunter and even I KNOW that that’s all sorts of screwed up! It’s like this woman wants to ensure that the animals suffer as much as possible whenever she kills (be it this, shooting beautiful, rare wild wolves from airplanes whatever).

There is a reason that buck shots are so large; it is to ensure that the animal dies right away and doesn’t deel much pain. God, I never thought in a million years I ‘d be defending hunters, but even they have more animal sympathy than Palin.

  43. The_Porscha says:

I don’t really have a problem with hunting as a practice, but it bothers me that Sarah Palin is sanctimonious in her show about the animal “sustaining a nice family.” Forgive me, because I can’t know for sure, but I find it really ridiculous that they act like they’re hunting this animal for sustenance rather than sport. If you’re hunting for sport, just friggin’ admit it, but don’t act like you’re living off the land, Frontier Fanny. You just come off looking stupid.

…And yeah, I don’t hunt, but even I know more about gun practice and use than she seems to in this clip.

  44. Suzanne says:

I am a vegetarian/vegan. I do not eat any meat, fowl and am cutting fish from my diet. I also am working at eliminating all dairy also. Why? Because meat and dairy are violently cruel to animals, period. I live in Iowa, home to many, many factory farms where animals reside in horrific conditions before being hauled to slaughter. They never have a chance at any kind of a good life. This is wrong, at every level. I believe that every animal should have a peaceful life. People abuse animals in so many ways that it is impossible to list them all. Suffice to say that I do not agree with Sarah Palin on hunting and fishing. I do not agree with anyone who does this. What kind of sport is it to murder a beautiful animal? Give the animal a gun and teach it to shoot. Then, see how “sporting,” hunting is. Ms. Palin championed the slaughter of Alaska’s wolves, in any manner possible. How noble. I don’t know if she is naturally murderous towards animals or if she does this to cozy up to the typical Alaskan frame of mind that touts slaughter of wildlife at random. I think this is wrong and I applaud PETA for having the guts to call her out on it. This has nothing to do with politics on PETA’s part and on the part of those who love animals. It is about the out-and-out murder of an innocent animal by so-called sportsmen who enjoy seeing something die violently. Shame on anyone who calls murder sport! Leave the animals alone to live in peace.

  45. kas says:

It cracks me up that this one lone woman can send so many people so over the edge insane. She’s hunting on an episode and the next day you people break it down like it’s the damn Kennedy Assassination on the Grassy Knoll.

The funniest part of all of this is if you’ve just left her alone, not sued her out of office, she wouldn’t be the force she is now. But you just couldn’t help yourselves.

  46. Angela says:

@kas – Nobody sued her out of office. Her bills were paid for by the people of Alaska, there was no personal attorney expense that forced her to quit.

I come from a family of hunters. She is a joke.

  47. Alarmjaguar says:

PETA needs to get over itself. I don’t hunt, but many of my friends and family members do and I enjoy the results. One can argue that hunters are actually more aware of where their food comes from than most people. Also, environmentally, it is necessary. Humans have destroyed most of the larger predators that normally keep deer populations down (granted Alaska is kind of an exception to that), so hunting is an important way of keeping the ecosystem balanced.

I can’t speak to whether or not Palin did it correctly, but I’m annoyed that I’m kind of defending her.

  48. daisyfly says:

F*ck PETA. Their messages and practices are beyond the pale.

But as far as Sarah’s hunting expertise is concerned, she’s all talk.

To di.butler, whether you’re in a highly populated hunting area or not, when you’re traveling with a group of people, you should wear items of clothing that notifies the others of your position and that you are, indeed, human.

As for the notion that she’s a woman, and guns are heavy, GMAFB. She’s supposed to have done this crap all her life. She’s supposed to be the outdoorsy, boot strap-pulling, moose-killing, wolf-hunting, mountain climbing frontiersman. If she can’t even carry her own gun then she’s obviously been lying to everyone.

But then again, she’s obviously been lying from the very start.

And she wasn’t sued out of office – she left to pursue more profitable venues. Alaska means about as much to her as integrity does.

  49. jane16 says:

I despise Peta & Palin in equal measures. Funny post.

  50. jc126 says:

Whenever she does anything “outdoorsy”, she looks so awkward, like she’s never done it before. The hunting scenes, she looked like she had maybe done it years ago once or twice, but is clearly not “a hunter”. Her body language when she does anything outside is really stiff.
It’s a HILARIOUS show, btw, for non-fans. I can’t WAIT to see Kate G., whom I also despise, on it. Should be a laugh riot.

  51. jbee says:

    Camera crews are loud.

Who ran the Caribou under her nose, I wonder?

  52. LILO-donotpassgo-donotcollect200$ says:

can we stop talking about “She who Shall Not be Named” ? Please? Yawn…

  53. Kloops says:

Bah. It’s just campaign propaganda. She’s pandering to her base. Other than famewhoring, there’s very little “reality” here.

  54. Stephanie says:

It’s a sport if you give the deer a gun. I think hunting is wrong. That’s just my opinion.

I am a lifelong Republican and a small business owner, and I just wish this woman~ nay! her whole family~ would STFU already & crawl back into their cave in Wasilla. John McCain made a terrible mistake choosing her as his running mate.

  55. original kate says:

palin, as they say, is all hat and no cattle.

  56. Emily says:

Oh, that post from the hunters was hilarious. I’ve never hunted in my life, but even I know that a varmint rifle shouldn’t be used for a freaking moose. Why didn’t she use a BB gun in that case?

  57. Sara says:

PETA is rediculous. If my dog could mass farm pigs he’d do it in a second and not feel bad at all.

  58. Truth says:

PETA = Palin Eats Tasty Animals

    PETA is a freckin joke.

If any of you clowns watched the show than you would know that the Dad took a tumble and fell while walking down the slope and probably knocked the scope off balance and target. If “thank God” for editing than why not edit out the 4 missing shots.

Where are the complains that Sarah Palin was putting the bullets in the gun for Bristol Palin during the skeet shooting. If I recall during that show Sarah Palin hit 2 out of 3 flying plates in the air and had no problem loading and handling that gun.

Get a freckin life you bunch of losers!

I think it’s interesting that nobody talks about the fact that she’s kind of cross-eyed.

  60. Jerry says:

I don even know why they keep talkin about this woman shes not even human, not smart enough to be one, palin is retarded first of all shes republican republican=retarded do the math y’all.

  61. Jason says:

Way to go Sarah! Congrats on the success.

    44, aka suzanne,

wow… you sound like an angsty 12 yr old emo kid… do you want an emily the strange journal to write your ridiculous and self righteous thoughts in?

sorry to break it to you, but EVERYTHING you do and buy kills animals in some sort of way. Even veggie farms kill rabbits and other things that want to ruin their crops.

Let me ask you, do you kill bugs? Because if you do you are a total hypocrite. What is it with you PETA die hards, do you only care about the “unnecessary” slaughter of the cute and cuddly animals?

    I’m a part of PETA:
People for the Eating of Tasty Animals!!!

  63. decemberist15 says:

Oh and PS Suzanne- what kind of pillow do you have? Comforter? Shoes? Because I’m pretty sure there is some sort of animal product in there, which is promoting the pro killing animals industry…

  64. Kath says:

LOL at hunting in full makeup. She’s wearing more black eye makeup than a teen goth girl. Such a half-assed publicity stunt.

  65. PETASUCKS says:

I think PETA needs to shut their mouths!! Instead of finding homeless animals homes the put them down!! They get 33 millions dollars a year from the gov and don’t have to pay taxes!!! They have the money and resources to house thousands of animals and to get the medical treatment they need but instead they put down all but 8 of the homeless animals in their shelters. I don’t know what’s more cruel hunting or that!! The head guy of PETA is a Type 1 Diabetic too wonder if you know where the INSULIN that has kept him alive was from (up to 10 years ago) PIG AND COWS!!! Man if someone didn’t kill that animal he’d be a goner!! PETA YOU’RE A JOKE!!

  66. Jag says:

I eat meat, but don’t hunt. I do shoot pistols and have shot rifles. What few times I’ve seen the promo for her show, it appeared to me that Palin didn’t have the rifle tight to her shoulder when she shot it, resulting in a wicked recoil. I wouldn’t hunt with her either, and doubt that she’s a life-long rifle shooter. Either that, or those who taught her were ignorant on gun protocol.
