Lourdes Leon really wants to dye her hair “royal blue” now

Back in November, The Daily Beast interviewed me (ME!) about Lourdes Leon and whether she was too young to dye her hair (she’s 14 years old). I talked about Miley Cyrus’s cooter, of course, but I ended up coming down on the side of “Lola is fine.” Anyway, in a new blog post (Lola blogs for her Material Girl line at Macy’s), Lola talks about how she’s now “sick” of her dyed black hair, and how she wants to go “royal blue”. Oh, goodness.

It might be hard to believe, but Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes (a.k.a. Lola) Leon, is actually just like any other teenage girl — hello, Harry Potter and Katy Perry. Of course, not every teen already has co-created a junior’s collection for Macy’s this fall, but even she isn’t immune to the style dilemmas of adolescence!

“I don’t know if any of you saw my hair yet but its mad dark right at the moment. I’m almost sick of it and now I want royal blue hair but not a streak, like my entire head,” she muses. “I’m sure if I get that hair color I’ll be sick of it after about two weeks.”

And how does mom Madonna feel about her Lola opening up for all the internet to see?

“I read this blog aloud to my mother and she is sitting here staring at me with no expression on her face, as if she doesn’t approve of it!” she writes. “So now you all know what I have had to put up with for the past 14 years of my life :D”

[From People]

Ha, Lola is so funny – “So now you all know what I have had to put up with for the past 14 years of my life”. She’s really going to be a bigger handful than Madonna, isn’t she? Just wait for it. It’s not going to be a Miley Cyrus-type thing either – Lola is going to try to rule the world.

As for the “royal blue” dye – to get her hair to really show up as that color, won’t she have to lighten it first? Lola as a blonde! Imagine.

Jeezus why do all the teenagers have to use so damned much eyeliner!?

  2. jaye E says:

yeah, that really is too much eyeliner.

  3. guesty says:

can’t you just imagine the expression on madge’s face? lourdes seems more reserved & confident instead of cocky, annoying & awkward.

  4. Nanea says:

“Lola is going to try to rule the world.”

Let her try for a time and then let’s all sit back and wait until Empress Z is ready to take over.

  5. Eleonor says:

I made my hair blue at sixteen, my mother went crazy! Go Lola and after you’ve done post a photo of your mother’s expression!:D

  6. Lisa Turtle says:

She has a nice nose. I won’t comment on all the rest of it.

  7. Kim says:

She is too cute for words. Go Lola!

  8. Kristin says:

    Lisa Turtle —

Really? Why are you going to tear down a 14 year old girl like that? You must never had someone tease you when you were younger.

  9. Boo says:

At 14, my hair (my whole head) was blue and purple… plus I had a nose ring (a hoop at that!!)
I got through that phase real quick…

  10. annaloo says:

Madge is sitting there with no expression on her face BECAUSE SHE CAN’T MOVE IT!!!!

But really, Lourdes is 14– she SHOULD go dye her hair purple plaid if she likes.. if there was anytime in her life that was perfect to do it, it’s now.

  11. bite me says:

    what an interesting looking child

  12. sapphire says:

She’s a teen-that is exactly the time you dye your hair blue, wear your grandma’s undies in public and commit all sorts of fashion atrocities! I hope she has fun with it and drives Madge nuts!

The only think I fault her for is using Racoon McPantless in her ads.

  13. Samigirl says:

I think it is hysterical that Madge freaks out over Lourdes wanting to be a blue-head, but thinks it is totally ok to date a guy that is MUCH closer to Lourdes’ age than her own. Really, Madge? She isn’t putting out naked pictures of herself in a sex book, so lighten the heck up.

  14. TXCinderella says:

Love the Union Jack clutch with crown clasp!

  15. Jaded says:

Oh Madge, let her f*ck up her hair. By the time she’s 18 it’ll look like a rats nest it will be so fried from constant dying.

  16. mln76 says:

Love it. Madge has her hands full.

  17. Karen says:

I adore this girl so much!! She appears to act exactly like her age and compared to other daughter’s of celebrities out there in Lala land, I find her absolutely refreshing. It also appears that she is very close to her mother and it definitely says alot about Madonna’s mothering skills. It is really unfair to compare Madonna the performer to Madonna the mother because I’m sure they are two very different people. Lola also knows the score in terms of whom her mother is truly dating vs. trotting out some young thing to keep her name in the papers. If things were that bad, Guy would try to pursue more access to his kids.

  18. Jo says:

Easy on the eyeliner there Snookie.

It’s going to take a lot to top her mom’s antics. The only thing she didn’t indulge in was drugs (which she is very against so if she really wanted to piss her off that’s the way to go.

  19. Jazmin says:

She looks like a Kardashian or Cher’s daughter.

  20. KJ says:

It really took 10 replies for someone to make a joke about Madonna’s expressionless face? We’re all slacking. Must be a monday morning ^_^

  21. Call Me Al says:

I really like her. She is cute. Can’t wait to see what she does with her life. I do think it’s a little too much eyeliner for a 14 year old, but that’s what they all want to wear now. You can’t uber-control everything they do.

  22. Sol says:

My daughter is 15 and since she was 13 she wished to dye her long brown hair blue and violet!!!

Eventually she will dye it, her body her choice, although im glad she still waits for my approval 🙂

  23. Franny says:

I think its interesting that she has said (several times now): look at what i have to put up with!

as if her mother not letting her dye her hair whenever she wants, and not being allowed to wear makeup at 12 is THE WORST THING EVER. she’s 14. my sister is 14 and is allowed to wear mascara only. just like i was. I think its good that Madonna has some restrictions on Lola, but for Lola to complain about it makes her seem so childish (which she is, BECAUSE SHES 14).

  24. Franny says:

    also, at LisaTurtle,

the girl is 14. probably one of the most awkward ages to be at. I think she looks pretty good for her age. just give it 4 more years, and she’ll be gorgeous.

    what a rude comment.

  25. Leek says:

She should dye it, she’s young and should have some fun. Maybe she could compromise and ask for cable television instead.

It shouldn’t be a big deal; she’s probably been waxing her brows since she was 9 or 10 so what’s a little color…

  26. samihami says:

Hair grows back or can be re-colored. This is not a hill I would die on. It’s a non-permanent thing. As long as the kid didn’t want to carve swastikas into her scalp, I’d let her look as dumb as she wants to.

  27. sr says:

She is not very beautiful but she seems like a nice and sweet girl.

  28. jc126 says:

    I think she’s lovely.
Dyeing your hair bright colors is one of the privileges of youth! I was thinking a couple weeks ago that I wish I could dye my hair partially pink, but I’m too old for that now, dammit!

  29. chocololy says:

I died my hair blue when I was twelve…twice.. and bleached it… I did all sorts of stuff to my hair… It’s fun!

  30. malachais says:

Lola, you have beautiful hair, don’t start dying it please!! lol – you will regret it as an adult.

  31. javagirl1 says:

Maybe some blue stripes? Blue and black go great together.

  32. Sassy says:

Meh. It’s hair. Madonna will soon have to learn to pick her battles. If dyed hair is her only issue with her teen, she’s got it easy!

I was/am the kind of mom to let my kids experiment with their hair – it always grows back/out and it’s usually a phase that the teen also grows out of.

    Let Lourdes have blue hair!

  33. Cakes says:

I had to cut six inches off my hair due to over coloring. Lola has such pretty hair that if I were her mom I wouldnt want her to color it. But shes also at an age where she needs to make her own decisions so go for it 🙂

  34. Hakura says:

She really does seem like a normal 14 year old (which, being Madonna’s daughter, I believe to be an accomplishment.) I like her, and she really is cute! Age 14 is HELL.

I agree with Samihami. You have to pick your battles, and dying their hair is not a hill to die on. My mom made the mistake of battling me (her first child) on *everything* (we left body parts on every metaphorical hill xD), which pushed me into sneaking things, which just causes more problems than it’s worth. Hair isn’t permanent, it’ll grow back to be destroyed another day xD

  35. EzE says:

She will never be more interesting than she is at this exact moment.

  36. Bronson says:

yes, she will need to bleach the shit out of it to get blue to show up – it’s a hard color to get and it fades very quickly. btw – i’m 28 years old and my hair is still bright pink. NOTHING wrong with doing what you want to YOUR body at ANY age.

  37. Liana says:

at 15 my hair was dip dyed purple and pink.

  38. kelly says:

She’ll have to bleach the beejsus out of it to get it blue, having just done the same to my totally black hair to get it pillarbox red.
It fucks your hair but who wants to die with the colour they were born with? At least they dont have to use food colouring like we did back in the day if we wanted something *unusual*. Who else remembers trying to be cool with royal blue running down your forehead 🙂

  39. Laura says:

When I was 14 I dyed my (dark red) hair denim blue. You do indeed have to bleach it first, but it’s worth it. (I especially thought so after the hot dad of the kids I babysat for said my hair was hot 🙂 )

  40. kimberly says:

    Do it!

I had every color in a crayon box when I was a teen in the 90’s

  41. JenJen says:

At least she’s not posing nude like her mother was as soon as she was old enough, determined to skank herself into stardom. Can’t stand the eyebrow resurrection. Poor kid. Nevermind, she is a Paris in the making.

  42. Debra says:

I would have dyed my hair that lovely dark blue if I were not in a traditional profession. I say, go blue!

  43. crazydaisy says:

She really looks like a cross between madonna and cher, lol!

  44. Anna says:

    Lola… She is beautiful.
