Did Brad and Angelina want Bono to be their twins’ godfather?

In highly unlikely news out yesterday, The Mirror claims that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie plan on naming U2’s Bono as their new twins’ godfather. In April the rumor was that it was going to be George Clooney – and the couple certainly have a wide array of celebrity friends to choose from.

It’s the Sweetest Thing for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s newborn twins. Little Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline are only a few weeks old, but they’ve already shot straight to the top of the showbiz A-list by bagging a superstar godfather – U2’s Bono. After giving birth two weeks ago, Angelina, 33, and Brad, 44, spent a week bonding with their new bundles of joy at Bono’s bolthole in a leafy village in the South of France.

And in return for the kind gesture, the Hollywood couple have asked him to be a permanent fixture in the lives of their tots. Sources tell me thrilled Bono, 48, accepted the offer immediately. A pal of the A-list parents revealed: “Brad and Angie think the world of Bono. They have been friends for years. Brad is a massive U2 fan and told Bono how much he admired him when they were introduced at a party a few years back.

“Since then, they’ve become very close, which Brad is thrilled about. Angelina is inspired by Bono’s humanitarian work and gets on with his wife Ali Hewson. Ali’s given Angelina some clothes from her ethical clothing range Edun.” I’m told the couple are planning a christening ceremony to welcome Bono into the extended family. But they have not yet decided if he will be sharing his duties with a godmother. Angelina has spoken about asking her ex-lesbian lover Jenny Shimzu [sic], but that has yet to be given the nod by Brad.

[From The Mirror]

I could maybe have accepted the POSSIBILITY that Brad and Angelina were considering Bono as a godfather until that last part about Jenny Shimzu. We’re really supposed to believe that the woman who Angelina used to sleep with – who talks about Angelina every chance she gets and is always telling the press that Brad is just a temporary distraction– would be considered by Brad Pitt as the godfather to his children? I call bullshit on that. It makes for good press and I’m sure a ton of sites will pick it up by the end of the day tomorrow, but I can’t imagine that it’s possibly true.

Bono? Well they do seem to be genuinely friends so it’s not too unlikely. But Jenny Shimzu sounds like a wild, improbable guess.

Anyway, Kaiser called Godmother here on this very site the day the twins arrived so she should get it. It’s only fair. If this Jenny Shimzu person had come on here and staked her claim, then fine. But she didn’t so tough titty.

Kaiser for Godmommy. She’s fierce, she’ll protect them. 8)

    🙂 Geronimo.
Don’t the twins get one set each of Godparents?

  3. Mairead says:

I second geronimo’s proposal – who’s going to act as chairman and carry the motion? 😈

Back on topic, the last part seems doolally. But The Mirror is a total rag, so it’s what can be expected.

Certainly they’ve been very lazy with their research. Why wouldn’t Angelina be inspired by Ali’s humanitarian work as well as getting on with her?
She’s been involved with the Chernobyl Childrens’ Fund since the 1980s and was probably the catalyst for Bono’s latent do-goodery.

Mairead, it’s just how the tabs report on the J-Ps, this reverential bullshit that does no one any favours, least of all the J-Ps. Lazy and stupid and responsible for so much of the ire directed at them.

You’re right, Ali DID lead the way as far as St Bono is concerned.

    😆

Yeah, this story reeks of bullshit to me too. But thats surely not gonna stand in the nutters’ way! I predict that this is gonna be an interesting thread.

Wait, let me get this straight, according to the Mirror they’ve been at Bono’s house? Bono doesn’t own the castle, does he?

  6. Mairead says:

now geronimo – you’re not having a pop at our “Paul” are you? 😮 Sure, he’s an awful eejit, but there are worse out there. 😆 But Ali rocks as far as I’m concerned.

I just re-read that bit Bodhi – God that’s fierce bad luck to be papped in your back garden just after landing home from Chez Hewson. I think that bit’s absolute twaddle too. 🙄

LOL, I really wasn’t, just giving credit where it’s due!
Don’t think this is Bono’s villa. His is on the beach, where they are isn’t beachfront. Unless Bono’s got more than one mansion/villa/estate in SoF? I thought they were in Bono’s place only for a small while (when they first arrived in France) but then moved to their current property before the twins were born.

  8. Kaiser says:

Thank you for remembering, Geronimo! 🙂 I believe my words were “I call godmother, bitches”

That’s the right godparent protocol, right? Whoever calls it first on Celebitchy?

But seriously, I think this is made-up. Shiloh doesn’t have official godparents… why would the twins?

And Shimizu as godmother? Who do I have to go down on to be considered? (Angie, apparently)

  9. Mairead says:

It’ll cure what ails yeh Kaiser 😉

    Agree with geronimo 150%

I third the nonimination for Kaiser as godmother. 😀

haha jenny shimuzu shld be their god parent. that will be one wild circus

  12. Nan says:

Too bad Bono isn’t really attractive, if he was he would have been so much more. Some people just can’t have it all. Who has it all?

  13. Mairead says:

Interesting point – he was only the frontman for one of the most successful bands of all time and known from the Arctic Circle to UngoBungo-land and well able to command a sell-out tour when they want to; a successful business man (outside of the band, except perhaps for The Clarence Hotel); healthy happily children; a long-term marriage with a gorgeous woman known for her charity work and is generally liked when he’s not bleating on about 3rd World Debt.

God love him; all that means nothing because he doesn’t make a pretty middle-aged man. 😕

  14. geronimo says:

Thank you for jumping in there, Mairead, and nipping this beyond nonsensical notion in the bud. What a deranged comment.

Dear God, please please please let me be as unsucessful as Bono. 😯

At times, American foreign policy has been farsighted, simultaneously serving our national interests, our ideals, and the interests of other nations. At other times American policies have been misguided, based on false assumptions that ignore the legitimate aspirations of other peoples, undermine our own credibility, and make for a more dangerous world.
