Amy Winehouse’s dad thinks someone spiked her drink, causing seizure

Amy Winehouse’s long-suffering father just can’t seem to grasp how far gone his daughter is. When Amy had a seizure earlier this week, requiring a trip to the emergency room, he told reporters that it was caused by a “medication mix-up.” Nobody bought it for a second, probably not even the physicians who treated Amy. Now, Mitch Winehouse is saying that the seizure was brought on by a spiked drink. Some unknown person must have slipped some ecstasy into poor, innocent Amy’s lemonade, because there’s just no way the singer would take drugs willingly. Riiiight.

Amy Winehouse’s father is convinced her drink was spiked with Ecstasy before she collapsed in a fit and hospitalised.

Cab driver Mitch was by Amy’s side as she was stretchered out of her Camden home and rushed to A&E on Monday night.

A source said: ‘Mitch is furious. He’s certain someone put E in Amy’s drink – and he’s determined to get to the bottom of it.

‘He is convinced that one of her hangers-on was responsible and he’s waiting for a toxicology report to show what caused her to have a fit.’

The source told The Sun: ‘If his suspicions are proved right, he wants someone to be punished. He is seriously unhappy about Amy’s flat being a stop-over for randoms and wants an end to it.’

Mitch had previously blamed the scare on a mistake with her prescription medication.

[From the Daily Mail]

Maybe, instead of “getting to the bottom” of this fictional person who slipped Amy drugs against her will, Mitch should figure out how to get his daughter into a bona fide, long term treatment center. The day before the supposed spiking incident, Amy was seen carousing late at night, wasted out of her mind. Hardly the picture of someone thinking about getting sober. I feel sorry for her father. Obviously he is worried sick about her, but still can’t face the fact that his daughter is a hard core addict who doesn’t have any intentions of getting sober anytime soon. She doesn’t need anyone to slip her drugs- she’s taking them of her own accord.

He seems to be floating down that river in Egypt.

Oh. My. He needs to kidnap her and take her to a remote island off Washington State while she detoxes.

why won’t she die? It’s that crackhead strength, i tell ya!

If he’s in worse denial than she is, who is going to look out for her and try and keep her alive. Don’t die Amy

I wish i had such a devoted Dad!

  6. RAN says:

Yeah right, her lemonade was spiked. Poor, innocent, misunderstood Amy

  7. Anastasia says:

I don’t feel sorry for her father. They seem to be riding the Amy Gravy Train just fine. What they SHOULD be doing is what you said–getting her into a serious, long term rehab facility and making sure she stays and can’t just do drugs there like she did in the last joke of a place.

  8. Shane says:

More proof tattoos are trashy looking.

  9. Nan says:

She’s on the marijuana maintenance program, drinking & taking E. Better than doing crack & meth.

  10. YRG says:

Just because she’s a strung out addict doesn’t mean someone didn’t spike her drink. I hope she survives long enough to get help. This fascination with celebrity mishaps and schadenfreude has got to stop before someone gets hurt or dies.

  11. saintdevil says:

More likely someone spiked her crack or she snorted rat-poison instead of coke.

I’d like to grab her by her skinny shoulders and shake some sense into her.
But I fear her brain is already on permanent vacation.

  12. Carrie says:

Mitch Winehouse seems to have enrolled at Jaybird’s University of Duh.He wants to punish the “someone” who’s responsible for the state his daughter’s in. You’re looking at her you numbskull. Her name’s Amy.

  13. geronimo says:

Poor Mitch. He’d probably be wiser to keep these ‘suspicions’ to himself as it’s now looking like the stress of Amy is taking its toll on him. I feel so sorry for him. In every pic of him lately, he looks like he’s about to burst into tears. Poor Mitch.

  14. Bodhi says:

Its not the tattoos that are trashy, its the pathetic addict. I just wish she’d get some real help

I go between feeling sorry for Mitch to being downright disgusted. Denial can only take you so far. I was shocked at those ghastly photos of her Berserker Weekend, from last week. My friend who is a drug counselor, looked at the photos and SAW she was clearly high on E. Winehouse has her father completely wrapped around her finger, and will tell him anything to get out of her face. Now reports are showing him denying that he ever said his daughter’s drink was spiked. Now he’s looking for the jackass that told the press that he said that, LOL. Silenced by the power of the record company???

As long as Winehouse keeps walking out of her home looking like one of the zombies from “Shaun of the Dead”, and beating her minders, all the schadenfreude and curiosity in the world will just increase.

She’s contracted to do 3 more concerts this summer. Will the fans see the Phoenix from “T in the Park”, or the Pity Party of One from Glastonbury?

  16. sallysitwell says:

Heck yes, the toxicology reports are going to show E and all kinds of nasties in her system, but I’d wager a bet that though one’s drink could be spiked, hers probably were not.

  17. Crux the Magic Dragon says:

Thanx, sally! I think that the recent pics of a medical truck and that Slushy truck arriving at Winehouse’s residence are indicators that she’s ONCE again is on lockdown.

A drug ‘mixup’ doesn’t require lockdown, doesn’t it?

    ITA w/MSat, good article!!!!
