I think the thing to do is feel some kind of sympathy for Sandra Bullock. Because it’s all over her face – this time last year, she was at the height of her winning streak, she gushed about her husband from the Kodak Theatre stage as she accepted her Best Actress Oscar, and she had quietly adopted a baby boy (which we wouldn’t find out about for another two months). Sandy was in a much different position this year, but I liked that she didn’t play it for sympathy. You got the feeling that she truly just wanted people to pay attention to the nominees. I’m glad that she chose a bright red gown – Sandy is not going to play “The Widow James” in black. Sandy’s red is Vera Wang – it’s not really the most flattering color on Sandy, and I think her makeup is a little underdone, but still. You’ve got to love her. Her presenting Best Actor was another one of my favorite moments – especially when she called Jeff Bridges “dude”.
Jennifer Hudson in orange-red Atelier Versace. During the red carpet show, this dress looked more red, but in photos, it looks totally orange. Whatever. Now, while I think J-Hud looks great and I’m proud of her for losing the weight and being healthy… I hate this dress on her. It’s just the top – and what it’s doing to her boobs. It’s really ugly and unflattering and trashy. And I hate saying that about J-Hud, but the boob situation in this dress is tragic.
Jennifer Lawrence was one of my best dressed of the night – I thought this Calvin Klein dress looked amazing on her. I don’t know if it was fully lined with all-body Spanx or what, but there was not one bulge or lump anywhere on her body. I also loved that she kept her hair down and her makeup simple. She’s very young, and she looked simple and sexy and appropriate.
Since the theme is “ladies in red” – Selena Gomez in a red Dolce & Gabbana dress at the Vanity Fair party, with her lover Justin Bieber. No comment.

Sandra has phenomenal posture. On a lot of the slumpy starlets this dress would have been hideous. I love that she didn’t stay home and hide. The “Poor Sandra” side-eyes had to be enough to drag most women into a major slump.
Sandra looked good. I’m so glad that through this whole debacle, she’s never said one bad word about Jesse or ever tried to play it up for sympathy. She’s a classy woman.

God, Justin Bieber is a dork. I thought Sandra Bullock looked good….I wasn’t crazy about the actual dress, but the color was pretty on her. Vera Wang’s stuff all looks alike to me.
Sandy is amazing. Classy, beautiful, just lovely. And so down to earth at all times. She is one of my very favorite people.
Sandra looked good, Jennifer Hudson looked ok, but the boobs looked like they needed some air. Jennifer Lawrence looked amazing.

@GeekChic, I feel the same way. When I saw JHud on the carpet at first, I thought, “WOW!!!! She takes the prize!”…but then, she did her close up with Tim Gunn and the boobs started to make me feel scared and a little confused. Overall, though, the dress is just a stunner. I think they could have somehow managed around the boobs better, too. If only the boobs fiasco hadn’t happened, I think she would have been one of the best dressed there.

Reds never sit good with me on big events. They tend to photograph in a million different shades and are often too overbearing for the wearer.
As much as Jennifer L. has a great body that dress is a glorified Baywatch suite. Not liking it. From those pictured my vote goes to Selena, her red looks the best for me.

JL hands down. it was a very well tailored dress. she is a tad big-boned (i hope they dont thinnify her) so I maybe it was fully lined. she has been a major failure on the red carpet, but she nailed it. I thought it was too “plain” for the Oscars, but hey, at least she didnt go big and princess-y!

Very few people look better after plastic surgery, imho, with the exception of Diane Keaton and a few others who had it done well and tastefully.
I think Ms. Hudson made a mistake. But that’s just my 2 cents.

I am really happy for JHud weight loss. It is obvious she is proud of it as she should be. But one consistent problem for her is that she can not dress to her body! Whether big or small. The dress is too low cute for her body. Her breast are sagging and they look horrible. It is so wrong. Her lace front wig makes her look fake. That lace front is just horrible and makes her look like a doll.
JHud is a beautiful woman and the dress is gorgeous. BUT that boob-weirdness detracted from it all. ALL i could think was : WHAT IS GOING ON WITH HER BOOBS ?! it’s almost like the boobs would have naturally been hidden by the dress and someone got the *brilliant* idea that it would look sexier to have them peak out the sides to squashed them with tape or something. bleh bleh BLEH !

Jennifer Lawrence was my favorite dresser of the night. She looked simple and gorgeous. It’s weird how she looks different than she did in “Winter’s Bone.” Her hair is hot.
Jennifer Lawrence looked stunning. My husband’s eyes nearly popped out of his head when he caught sight of her on camera. Oddly enough, he also wondered aloud about J-Hud’s boobs, and how they looked kind of crammed inside her dress. She’s a gorgeous woman, though, no doubt about that. Her skin is to die for.
As for Sandra, she looked a little harsh to me. The red seemed really severe against her fair skin, and the cut of the dress didn’t really flatter her figure, imo.

I loathe awards shows, so I just look up the fashions the next day, as that’s the only thing that even vaguely appeals to me about these things. Anyway, is the dress worn by Jennifer Lawrence (I admit: who? so many g-damned Jennifers) something that looks better in motion or is improved by being viewed in any frame that is not that of a photo still? I feel like I’m missing the last piece of the puzzle because everyone is falling into raptures over one of the most oppressively dull and unremarkable dresses I’ve ever seen! Now, I say this in the middle of an extended period of heavy travelling, dental work and tending to a certain nephew who’s getting his little kindergartener tonsils and adenoids removed and also has the flu. But now I do too, huh? Blergh, stick that in your Greyhound. Sigh, I guess it’s me–and I’m a firm, firm believer in the accessory removal philosophy of Chanel. I hate overly fussy, cluttered, age-inappropriate and badly fitted ensembles and if she’s 20, I wouldn’t want to be seven long-string pearls with twelve petticoated cameos festooning each strand (somehow), so I’ll just toss out a ‘had to be there’ shrug and accept that I’m the only one looking a West Beverly High circa 1992 towel bound for the first Sally Ann we see on the ride home.
Sandra looked even more beautiful than last year, if that is at all possible. I’ve never seen her so beautiful! I love Sandra Bullock and have so much respect for her that she didn’t sink down to the Jennifer Aniston ‘pity party’ route. Sandra shows how its done with class. Not only was Sandra actually cheated on, but her ex-husband cheated on her with many women. Sandra is SO strong and classy. She is one classy lady that oozes dignity and self-respect. I respect her so much and look up to her for how she has handled the whole thing. I guess she watched others and learned how NOT to conduct herself. She is pure class all the way. Love her!
