Hawke’s office and studio were completely destroyed in a fast-moving fire

on Sunday morning. The fire started on the second floor and spread to Hawke’s offices on the fifth floor. Hawke is now working on the film version of his novel, “The Hottest State,” which also stars Laura Linney and Michelle Williams. The tapes and negatives from the film were being stored in another location and were not affected by the fire.
