Jennifer Love Hewitt is just wearing muumuus at this point

These are some new photos of Jennifer Love Hewitt out shopping yesterday in LA. As you can see, Love has finally forgone even the pretense of wearing something that would show off part of her body – like that hideous sleeve-button Sister Wife dress, or that recent, unflattering tent dress. She’s now just throwing on a muumuu and calling it a day. Take that, haters!

I mean, I get it. She’s gained some weight. It’s not the end of the world, nor is it some kind of situation where Love is deserving of mockery… for her weight. I couldn’t care less about her weight. But I do care that no matter what her weight, Love rarely knows how to properly clothe her pear. This muumuu – in the guise of a long, oversized, long-sleeved sweater-dress – says to me that Love is at the point where she’s over trying to make the pear look cute. It says, “I’ve given up, bitches.”

By the way, regarding Love’s weight gain – last week’s Star Magazine had a bitchy story about it, called “More to Love!” There are references to how Love is “losing the Battle of the Bulge” and how she’s likely gained 20 pounds in less than two months. They even got a doctor to talk about how much weight she’s gained! Ugh. That makes me want to defend her.

i wonder if she’s on medication or had an ED. she & christina aguilera have both gained a TON of weight in the last few years. that doesn’t happen unless something’s going on…

  2. Heatheradair says:

on the flip side: lucky bitch, none of it goes to her face. She keeps her nice cheeks and jaw and doesn’t end up looking like a chipmunk.

so I say: muumuu it up. she hasn’t resorted to wearing Uggs, she still tosses on some heels and accessorizes, so more power to her tent-wearing, pear-shaped self.

  3. gillie says:

i like her manicure. however: is it cold enough in la to warrant a sweater dress and a scarf?

  4. Happymom says:

Poor thing. I’ve struggled with my weight for 30 years and it really sucks. I cannot imagine being in the public eye with this and having a magazine and “doctors’ discuss my weight gain. How humiliating. Between this and her “romance” addiction (one boyfriend to the next) and so much tmi from her-she really could use some counseling. And a stylist-because that “outfit” (where do you even buy something like that-Burkas R Us?) is heinous. You can still look cute and be a size 10 and beyond.

  5. mln76 says:

I feel bad for her, she doesnt have much going on upstairs but she’s harmless.

  6. Melinda says:

I’m not hating this look on her. Let’s give her a break.

  7. aenflex says:

Hate ner nose. Actually love the dress, it looks comfy.

  8. TQB says:

Sorry, I kinda dig this dress. Taken out of the context of the recent fashion problems, this one is OK with me. Then again, I am 5 months pregnant and mostly thinking of how much *I* would love to have it. And I would.

  9. machiavelli says:

I empathize with her, but if engages in discussion about her weight, then the tabloids are going to pounce on it for a long time.

She seems to be trying to lay low and go about her life. So, points for her. I hope she will not engage in any discussion on this topic. That will just fuel the fire.

  10. Rita says:

I hear she’s been tweeting with Kody from Sister Wives. See what happens.

  11. Samigirl says:

At least the shoes are hot? I know she’s a love addict, and is totally insufferable, but I really have always found her to be super hot. Regardless of weight.

  12. DGO says:

I don’t know why she doesn’t just get a good stylist. So she’s gained some weight – nothing a good stylist can’t help her accomodate.

  13. Lala11_7 says:

I would rock the HELL outta that dress…and those shoes…and I could because I’m over 6 feet tall…and it wouldn’t swallow me

It’s just too much fabric for the lil’ one…

  14. didjaever says:

I LOVE those shoes! Shows she hasn’t given up totally… she’s still dressing the feet.

  15. YAY says:

I love how @kazoo questions her having an ED, but then goes on to say she’s gained a TON of weight. Seriously, we can’t win.

  16. Embee says:

J Love Hew: You are adorable and sexy. Make friends with A-line skirts and dresses that hit just below the knee and also slimming black pants/jeans with hip lenth tunic blouses…and keep rocking your fabulous shoes.

  17. TXCinderella says:

If it is that cool there, she could have worn a just below the knee A-line dress with tights and boots. That would been more flattering on her with her pear shaped figure.

  18. Kimble says:

I don’t think people would care so much if she didn’t go running to the tabs when she loses 20lbs (it only seems like 5 minutes ago she was in a bikini pic after losing a few)!!!

Stop making weight your issue and it ceases to become so …

  19. Motor35 says:

she is *also* getting older. i know as i get older, i have more and more struggles with my weight 😉

  20. Quest says:

I like JLH but wearing a snuggie in public is not flattering for her. I do love the shoes.

Considering the bad fashion statements I’ve seen this week, I would give her a pass.

  21. Rachael says:

You didn’t need a scarf in LA yesterday. It’s April.

  22. Tiff says:

I think the dress looks really comfy and I want it. The shoes are also very cute. I think the other things she’s wearing with the dress make her look put together.

  23. Laura says:

Heaven forbid a celebrity gain weight to the point where they look like a normal person! The horror!!!

  24. Miss Marie says:

I have learned to never talk about my weight because I go up and down the scale by ten pounds. Folks like Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jennifer Hudson really set themselves up for scrutiny when they lose weight and broadcast their success and then later gain weight.

  25. Hollowdoll says:

She needs to chill out. Accept herself at any weight and move forward from there. She needs to wear clothes that flatter her shape. I think she’s got a cute figure.

  26. Sue says:

The dress makes her look bigger then what she is; Jennifer baggy loose shapeless clothing make you look bigger not smaller. A girl who wears a size 2 couldn’t wear that without looking bad there is no defined waist line and is too long, the scarf helped a little to break up that the gray but couldn’t save it. Someone should tell her that she can rock a cute put together style no matter what size she is.

  27. ctkat1 says:

OK, I’m going to be snarky here, but not about J.Love’s figure (which is fine at any weight- frankly, I’d love to be her current size).

But…she has used her weight to garner attention and press that she otherwise wouldn’t have been getting. Let’s face it, she wouldn’t have gotten the cover of a tabloid unless she was posing in a bikini talking about her weight loss.
She made her body a talking point, and now people are still talking even though the body has changed.

Jessica Simpson has dealt with a lot of body comments since she’s gained weight- I wonder if the commentary about her weight would be the same if she hadn’t done the “Daisy Duke” car washing video in a bikini that put her “new” body at the forefront of marketing Jessica Simpson.

  28. kazoo says:

“I love how @kazoo questions her having an ED, but then goes on to say she’s gained a TON of weight. Seriously, we can’t win.”

Uh, I said HAD. reading is fundamental. and it’s NOT normal for someone to go from a size 0/2 to…whatever she is (10/12?) in less than 10 years (unless there’s a medical issue, eating disorder, pregnancy, etc). she’s only 31…

this is how she looked in 2001:

And then she blew up in 07, at age 28…so yeah, something’s off.

  29. Roxy75 says:

I think she looks great…love the dress…looks comfy

  30. KatieM says:

I think she still looks lovely. If she was just a friend, or a colleague (rather than a celebrity), we wouldn’t bat an eye at her weight gain.
I do think it’s sad that she feel so insecure about her weight (due to media attention etc) that she feels like covering up to this extent.

  31. junipergreen says:

I dunno. Who cares what she wears? Maybe she *gasp* likes that sort of clothing?

  32. mimi says:

What a mean world we live in….girl goes to the beach with her fiance and …the media blasts a picture of her butt with nasty comments. God help us…

  33. SRM says:

I think she looks great. My metabolism seemed to stop the second I turned 35 and I have gained about 20lbs in a year. It sucks. I can’t imagine being scrutinized the way these celebrities are. I know they put themselves out there but not for this. Either they are too skinny in the eyes of the media and therefore must have an eating disorder or be on drugs. And then when those same people gain 5 lbs its like the tabloids are on baby bump watch. I am surprised no one has started pregnancy rumors for her.

  34. Marie says:

I would defend her, but she pissed me off when they photographed her in that swimsuit and she came out and said women should love their body no matter what they have, well come to find out she couldn’t handle the critism and dropped the weight. Now I am glad she ballooned back up, take that you hypocritical bitch.
(Yep I am having a bad day!)

  35. Johnny Depp's Girl says:

the bottom of that dress makes her look HUGE but we all know she isnt

  36. original kate says:

JLH looks fine, but she needs a stylist big time. seriously, nobody could wear that dress – it looks like a snuggie.

  37. KattyKat says:

She isn’t even wearing her permanent faux lashes!!! Doesn’t she always wear those? The sad thing is she isn’t heavy, she is thinnish but pear shaped and she dresses in a way that makes her look heavy.

  38. brin says:

She is embracing her pear shape.

  39. mamalama says:

I think What Not to Wear should do a celebrity edition and JLH and Mariah Carey should be two of the first stars on it. Neither has a clue of how to dress age or shape appropriately.

  40. kazoo says:

@marie, oh i didn’t realize that she lost the weight after gaining it & then gained it back. in that case, she probably had an ED. unsurprising since she started in hollywood so young. sad, though.

and i’m sorry but if you’re a celebrity, having your physical appearance scrutizined comes with the territory. they make their living in large part based on how they look. JLH was always cast as the hot chick when she was skinny…and now that she’s not, she doesn’t get those roles anymore. coincidence? i think not.

  41. Elizabeth says:

I really like the dress and the big bright scarf – I wear scarves all the time. Maybe I should take some of the fashion advice offered by Embee.

  42. Mshuffleupagus says:

JLH hasn’t progressed past junior high in love or in dealing with her weight. Pretty soon we’re gonna find her with a sweater tied around her ass and a pack of ex lax in her Trapper Keeper.

  43. original kate says:

“Pretty soon we’re gonna find her with a sweater tied around her ass and a pack of ex lax in her Trapper Keeper.”

BWAH! don’t forget the bonnie bell lipsmacker in cotton candy and the stirrup pants.

  44. margaritachum says:

i think she looks great but then again i don’t get the appeal of skinny women. i’m old fashion.=) i believe in a world where beautiful women have meat on their bones and have a waist and hips and are proud of it.;) but that’s just me. of course there are women that just don’t gain wight no mmatter what and that’s fine with me but it’s sad when someone looks normal and healthy and everybody points out that they gain weight.

  45. Kiska says:

Ever thought she might be dressing for comfort? She doesn’t look overweight at all. She still has a slim face and arms so if she has gained any its minimal.

  46. Head Shops says:

    loll her pear shape

  47. Mshuffleupagus says:

    original kate:

OMG, I rocked the sh*t out of stirrup pants! Lol, I forgot about those things. My favorite pair had a secret pocket (not my vagina) that I could store my Tamagotchi in while I was in class.

  48. MNGIRL76 says:

“on the flip side: lucky bitch, none of it goes to her face.”

I was totally thinking the same thing! The boob’s & face are the first place I gain weight! Her face looks soo good! WTF!

  49. Ari says:

I agree with the people who said her face is lovely – I was so admiring her jaw and lack of under chin LOL I am terrified of waking up one day and finding my chin gone :L…I love her wrists also…lol

  50. Catherine says:

Wow, that dress would make Gisele look hideous, let alone JLH

  51. Hanh says:

I like the dress. Seems like a comfy go-to dress to go shopping in on a casual day.

I miss ghost whisperer. JLH had the most gorgeous outfits on ghostwhisperer.

  52. Crash2GO2 says:

I can empathize. While my weight itself is not really an issue, where my body is getting a little soft is changing as I get older and I’m NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT!

  53. Zoya says:

If she just worked out regularly instead of going on a crash diet whenever she gets bad press only to gain it all back, she could be hot again. she needs to work for it now because she’s not 20 anymore, but she’s too lazy.

  54. wenderwoman says:

I’ve seen her look much, much worse. I think she looks really cute. Much ado about nothing.

  55. TeeTee says:

Is she going through a break up maybe?
    she looks sad/mad.

  56. Anon73 says:

@Kazoo — i agree that something is up with her and Aguilera’s weight. i share your thoughts it might be an ED.

i say this as someone who has struggled with anorexia / bulimia / binge eating. at one point, i actually did gain 20 lbs in less than 1 month. when you are on a binger, the pounds pack on really quickly.

for me though, this says for both Love and Aguilera that their emotions are a mess. like mine were (are) when i have my ED flare ups.

  57. Kevin says:

I dunno. Maybe Summer is almost upon us. Undies can get damp. Maybe it was just a good day to go commando and let her balls swing in the breeze. I don’t expect her nads to do much swinging with those thunder thighs though.

  58. kazoo says:

@zoya & anon73, exactly! people on here can be really touchy/weird about weight… i wasn’t saying it in a mean spirited way (same thing w/the demi lovato post the other day), but just that huge weight loss/gain in such a short amount of time points to a deeper issue.

    anon73, it’s definitely a daily struggle…i have my own issues as well. i hope you’re coping. 🙂

  59. ERika says:

be kind to these eating disordered girls

  60. Cinderella says:

I wouldn’t feel so unsympathetic had she not lied about her “size 2” awhile back.

Just own your real size, already.

  61. albeli says:

I like her hair & shoes.

  62. sammib says:

I really love this dress – I reckon she looks fantastic!

  63. blouson says:

Her face looks beautiful. I garee thta sh eneeds some help in working out what styles suit her but in the grand scheme of things so do I…and I still rock! For some of us fashion is not a passion, its an annoyance. So I think she should do whatever she wants.

  64. DrM says:

I think she looks great! Love the dress, the shoes, the scarf. Oh and if this is “weight gain” I’ll take it any day. And eating disorder my a**…people gain weight…skinny isn’t JLH’s natural state of being…rather I think its one she has to force herself into via starvation..

  65. honeyv says:

Finally! A cute outfit from her! This fits her, that muumuu is pretty tight on her upper body and loose on her “problem” parts. And her shoes..give it to me!! They are fab

  66. Andie says:

That dress would not be great on 5ft 4 me, but it’s not that bad on for the weight gain, she looks fine to me. She is a pear shape, but as people have said, she can dress to minimise that.

  67. Liana says:

Just the nicest girl and so much fun to work with. I hate comments about people’s weight. I think it’s more often than not mean spirited under the guise of “concern.”

  68. Leticia says:

Someone’s not happy with her weight.

  69. harfang says:

She is so beautiful with a clean face. I had no idea she was that pretty.

  70. Melinda says:

Whenever J-Love isn’t seeing someone, she always looks depressed. She should purchase a self-help book on self-love.

  71. MaudeLebowski says:

Is the dress made out of t-shirt fabric? Because I had some pj pants like that and they were all heavy and drapey, which was nice, but then I found that they were so heavy that their crotch started weighing itself down and sagged down towards my knees! Then I was walking like a cowboy. It had nothing to do with my own crotchal area, I hasten to add! 😀

  72. MaudeLebowski says:

heheh Melinda, she wrote one. She should read it. 😀

  73. jemshoes says:

I don’t mind the dress. It looks very comfortable. 😀 I just love wearing that kind of fabric!

  74. rundee says:

    Poor girl!
She´s pretty but whenever being single and/or weighing a little more she looks so devasted and defeated.
As if this is all she thinks she is: Her body and if someone is with her.
    That´s really, really sad!!!
(And a shitty rolemodel, if I might add)
