Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen at ‘The Union’ premiere: corpsey or cute?

Last night, some A, B and C-list stars came out for the premiere of The Union, a documentary about the making of Elton John’s new album, which was a collaboration with T. Bone Burnett. The film was directed by Cameron Crowe and it totally sounds interesting. But don’t listen to me, I get stuck on PBS documentaries about origami, and I end up watching the whole damn thing (and enjoying them immensely)! Anyway, the red carpet for the premiere. Probably the biggest “A-listers” at the event were Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, dressed up as always as corpse twins. Is the “corpsey” part understood? Probably. But my goodness, don’t they look like ten kinds of hell? Here’s a question: are those orange pants every going to be the answer to any kind of fashion dilemma? Seriously?

Also at the premiere: A Fassbender-less Zoe Kravitz. She’s looking a lot cuter than the last time I saw her (the Jane Eyre premiere). Still, I kind of want to shake her and yell “Where is my Beloved Fassdong?!?! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH HIM?!?” But yeah, she’s cute. I’m not even going to make fun of her bangs (trauma).

they’re not conventional pretty (anymore) but they have style despite what people’s opinions are. To each their own, esp. considering the path they’ve taken to get where they are now.

  2. Arianna says:

what is up with their eyebrows!?
full brows are in sure but not caterpillars

  3. crab says:

They are just odd. End of story!

  4. Tanya says:

    They creep me out…

  5. Mags says:

    @ Crab

    I agree.

  6. kazoo says:

i like the pieces they’re wearing separately, just not together.

  7. Alice says:

fug fug fug fug fug!! As for Zoe, I never have bad words for her. She could wear a potato sack or maybe Mary Kate’s horrific outfit and I would still find her goregous!

  8. sapphire says:

The twin bag ladies. I never understood how two women could make such a determined effort to look like hell. And sell $80 tee shirts.

  9. Samigirl says:

The one on the left (not in Orange)…her hair and makeup are great. Not digging the outfits though.

  10. azurea says:

Why do they always stand so close together facing each other, like conjoined twins?

  11. Isabel says:

Their whole “fashion” sense is based on dressing like they raided the attic in their dead grandmother’s house. It’s not even quirky or cute. It’s just plain weird.

  12. escapee says:

@hmmhmm and @kazoo – together you summed up my thoughts exactly

  13. liz says:

their outfits are actually pretty awesome this time around

  14. LindyLou says:

Creepy corpsey twin robots. Did mention creepy? lol

  15. Merry says:

The one in orange looks totally creepy. Her head is bigger and her face is just different from her sister’s; was she always like that? Is it plastic surgery or something?
She looks like she collected her sister’s soul and ate it.

  16. searching4grace says:

I think the one NOT in the orange pants looks pretty and healthy. The one in the orange pants looks like every creepy gnome nightmare I’ve ever had. Orange pants girl IS NOT aging well…she’ll be a creepy grandmother.

  17. S says:

I adore them both, but I really do miss their old faces.

  18. mia girl says:

Agree with @Lindylou @crab @tanya @azurea and everyone else who thinks they are creepy.

Their whole aura reminds me of that strange energy/relationship between twins depicted in that Cronenberg film, Dead Ringers where Jeremy Irons played the creepy twins. Seriously! These girls seem just as weird!!!

  19. Tanya says:

@miagirl: YES!!! They are SO Jeremy Irons in Dead Ringers – Beverly and I forget the other one’s name. Wow. That is a demented movie, and very befitting of these two! Same weird interchangability going on.

@Azurea’s ‘conjoined’ observation is bang on, as well.

@Merry: LOL! Orange’s satisfied smirk and lazer eyes speak volumes…

  20. Briamatia says:

Sorry but I need to comment on the hair drama. Please cut your split ends and pull the flat iron ALL the way through your bangs.

Also why is (twin #?) pulling up her black dress so high in the third picture??

  21. Tia C says:

It’s funny to me how no one seems to know which one is which. Obviously none of us are (or have ever been) die-hard Olsen twins fans! I think the one in orange is Mary-Kate, because isn’t she always the “quirkier” one? I don’t freakin know…LOL.

Anyway, I think they’re a lot less corpsey than they used to be, but still give off way creepy vibes from the way they dress, look mopey and cling to one another.

  22. Rachael says:

They look great. Want that red jacket.

  23. TheGoodRain says:

That origami documentary is fascinating, no shame needed. I recommend it to everyone (although I don’t know what that says about me.).

  24. tapioca says:

I thought it was easy to tell the difference now – Mary-Kate looks older, rougher and dresses like a hobo. (Although some of that premature-ageing may be down to her anorexia, I guess)

  25. Alice says:

The one in orange is Mary Kate. Her face has been ravaged by anorexia. Ashley’s face is fuller, and in my opinion, she’s the prettier twin.

  26. Ron says:

I love these girls. They do whatever they want and could give a f**k what anyone else thinks. Love them.

  27. Bobby the K says:

One reason it’s called ‘The Union’ is because Elton John is working with his idol Leon Russel.

  28. TXCinderella says:

They were cute as little girls, but as grownups, no. They dress and act weird.

  29. Janna says:

Their style is awful. And they never smile, never. It’s bizarre.

  30. hmmhmm says:

some of these comments about them being “weird” is unsettling to me. Sure they aren’t of social norms where they could be the pretty blonde, blue eye american girl next door forte. So what. Perhaps they don’t want to be like that, but for us to say it as a negative thing. I mean, you’re all entitled to your own opinion but for me, it is unsettling because most of these comments seem to stem from them being hot mess. I’ve had friends growing up who weren’t attractive, a “hot” mess you would say but it made their personality shine. They’re weird because they were socially incline and other kids made fun of them for not “fitting in”. Well kudos to the multi-billionaires who has their head screwed on well despite looking like a hot mess.

  31. Anti-icon says:

They look weird. No style for these fashion designers. Fashion Fail!

  32. Natalie says:

these girls could be gorgeous if they did something with the greasy hair, bushy eyebrows and dressed like the living!! they are fashion designers and they are dressed in old lady clothes.

  33. original kate says:

the one in orange always looks ducky, but i love their embrace of vintage and i appreciate that they do their own thing.

  34. Emma says:

The one smirking in orange is Mary Kate and the one with the dead eyes is Ashley.I’m confused about Mary Kate’s face. Very confused. I don’t understand. Their eyes used to be about the same size. For a while, I thought she was just plucking her eyebrows strangely or wearing too much eye makeup, but she looks like she’s had some weird work done. It sucks. I always thought she was the prettier one.

  35. Kelly says:

I just want to know why they go to the trouble of going to these events. They look miserable, bored, tired, and like they are not having fun. Why not just stay home?

  36. blouson says:

I love them. They seem edgy and doing their own thing. Compared to most other child stars they have carved their own path and seem fine to me. Kudos!

  37. whatyousay?! says:

man what happened?! i used to hate them so much bc i wanted to be them
-but not anymore! i feel like the victor now…minus the fame and fortune.
