Elisabetta Canalis poses for PETA: “The best reason why I get naked in my life”

This video is maybe the funniest thing I’ve seen in days. This is a behind-the-scenes video of Elisabetta Canalis’s photo shoot for PETA. She’s the latest “I’d rather go naked then yadda, whatever” campaign. I mean, hey, I don’t wear fur either, but I’m not a raving lunatic about it. And it takes about four seconds before you realize that Elisabetta has absolutely no clue what PETA is about, she just showed up and took off her clothes and posed her Adam’s apple off.

Eli says, for the record, “Doing PETA’s campaign has always been my dream… This is the best reason why I get naked in my life.” I love all of her little farty-face poses around the thirty-second mark. Too wonderful. Like, she’s talking about little animals dying and that makes her want to pout and look coquettish.

I still don’t know what “bluging them” means… she is talking about how animals are killed, and I make out “electrocuted” but then she “bluging them”. Is that, like, “bludgeoning”?

As far as her body… uh… sure, she’s got some good parts. But… I don’t know. Her skin looks really loose, like Iggy Pop’s. And her drag queen face is still upsetting.

  1. flounder says:

    She’s just so rough.

  2. Reality says:

I understand that she deserves a ribbing (mostly for those ridiculous poses) but English is her second language.

I doubt any of us could conduct a more intelligible interview in Italian.

  3. Caity says:

Ugh, how does Clooney put up with that accent?

  4. RocketMerry says:

She looks like she’s about to laugh in delight as recalling the video of animals being killed.

  5. Aqua says:

At least she’s taking her clothes off for a good cause for a change.

  6. Snowbunny says:

Something tells me she would take her clothes off for alot of various reasons, not just the plight of animals.

If PETA is for protecting animals from being exploited but they don’t have an issue exploiting females?

  7. flounder says:

@Snowbunny…amazing point. I never thought of it that way.

  8. aenflex says:

So you have to be a raving lunatic to raise awareness? Hmmm…

  9. Richie says:

    She looks so manly!

  10. Snowbunny says:

@flounder – I must be on my soapbox today but how can you exploit females for the sake of animals and call it okay? Woman are exploited in numerous ways in society and I just think items like this add to the problem. However, it is the acceptable norm. Okay, stepping off my soapbox.

  11. LindyLou says:

OMG those faces are killing me! lmao

  12. Jules says:

I am no fan of PETA but there have been men who have posed nude as well. I see Clooney’s beard is now one of them.

  13. Janna says:

No need to make fun of her. She wasn’t talking in her native language. But I predict he tires of her within another year. I don’t see her holding his interest longterm.

  14. Brittney says:

    Haha, Iggy Pop reference.

  15. jane16 says:

    Gross. Totally gross.

Snobunny, thank you for bring that up.

  16. lucy2 says:

    So she’s still around, huh?
I can’t watch the video on this computer, but omg those bottom two stills are equal parts terrible and hilarious.

  17. Snowbunny says:

What men have posed for PETA? I did not realize they also shot men nude, too.

  18. YAY says:

David Cross shot a nudie for PETA. I adore him so much! I actually have the biggest celeb crush on him.. 🙂

  19. flounder says:

@snowbunny..I don’t think you’re on your soapbox..it’s a completely legitimate observation. I wish we could bring awareness to causes without having to be shocking or tawdry.

  20. cindigirl says:

I think she looks like an advertisement for prevention of starvation. Eat a burger girl!

  21. Audrey says:

The women who are exploited do it voluntarily (model sexily). Animals do not.

  22. Rosanna says:

I’ve always loved this woman… I still love her despite the fact that PETA isn’t my cup of tea..

  23. flourpot says:

She must give the worlds best blowjob. I just don’t see one pretty thing about her. I would hope, that if George were gay, he’d be okay with letting people in on that. wtf is the closeted attitude in Hollywood all about. Stupid.

  24. observer says:

She wears lots of leather, including leather pants, boots, jackets, and handbags, as documented in numerous photographs. She eats KFC, as she herself “tweeted” when she had a Twitter account. She wore fur to the Rome Film Festival in 2009, documented in photographs, and ate the veal dinner served there. And there’s that pic of her being too lazy and uncaring to pick her dog up with her hands: http://justjared.buzznet.com/photo-gallery/2514613/elisabetta-canalis-dog-ferragamo-06/ She dumped the dog she “adopted” in L.A., solely for a photo op, onto her mother. This is just another famewhore publicity ploy. She’s a fake, always has been, always will be. Her publicity contract ended in December, when she was allowed to do one last photo op with Clooney, and she hasn’t been near him since then.

  25. Leek says:

    What a stooge.

  26. Oh my! says:

    Tomorrow is George’s birthday. http://www.people.com/people/gallery/0,,20486681,00.html

This is another (desparate?) attempt by her publicist and her to use him again. Are they even still together officially?

  27. Sumodo1 says:

Her arm tattoos are very “chola.”

  28. Nanea says:

So she’d rather go naked than…

Must be a very recent development, that. She’s been photographed wearing fur last year at a film festival (London?), while clinging to GC like she was drowning.

She’s a hypocrite, and I wonder why PETA would use her, unless they put that (ex-?) girlfriend of Clooney label on her. She isn’t well known outside of gossip circles.

  29. Marjalane says:

I don’t know what to think about this she/he and Clooney. He doesn’t ping my gaydar, but I seriously can’t see him banging this thing. She’s just unappealing on so many levels. Oh well, different strokes, I guess.

  30. Poppy says:

She said she vowed never to wear fur since she saw animals being killed as a little girl on TV.

Liar liar pants on fire (if she had any on).

She wore a fur coat to one of Clooney’s premiers in London and she wears Ugg boots quite often, maybe she thinks they are made of tree bark instead of a sheep’s fur and skin.

Not to mention her overflowing closet of high end designer bags and shoes made of calf, kid, snake and crocodile….what a hypocrite.

  31. TinaWithPom says:

I must be tired (long day at work)… I totally mistook the pic for Jillian Michaels.

  32. TeeTee says:

she looks like a hard faced chick that was once a man.

smdh, it seems like she is faking the conversation–kinda making it up as she goes along.

Go GC, you’ve really got a prize here!
    Woohooo

  33. mins15 says:

That ochocinco guy posed for peta too.

  34. candy says:

Dave Navarro did a PETA ad. Very sexy. This woman reminds me a little of Terri Hatcher, whom was linked to Clooney in the past. I think he ended up running from her because of her clinginess, so Eliz is like a type. He’s such a misogynist no other woman but a non-English speaking one would be interested. Good Night and Good Luck.

  35. bluhare says:

PETA is always good for controversy, and they are masters at getting attention for their causes.

    Case in point.

  36. Snowbunny says:

@candy – good point, I also thought she resembled Teri Hatcher and George being a misogynist.

@bluhare – You are correct regarding PETA.

  37. Solveig says:

Most people, especially the ones who call themselves animal activists, don’t realize that leather clothes – shoes included – do not always come from those poor animals that end their lives in a slaughterhouse. Slaughtering and leather used for clothes are not always connected and often do not come from the same industry.
Thus Elisabetta must check her infos on the issue or be more active and stop wearing leather too.
She has been the face of ENPA (something like PETA but way more effective) or something like that years before she met GC, tho.
Can you post the link to the pictures of her wearing fur? And I suppose that the thought that it may be a faux fur didn’t hit the mind of that obsessed observer.

  38. Becky66 says:

When I was a teen (back in the 80’s) I was all about PETA and vegetarianism (being a vegan wasn’t big back then) and Very vocal to anyone who would listen about how evil it was to kill animals to eat. I’ve mellowed considerably since then (even ate meat for 15 years or so, but am vegetarian again), for myself i would not eat meat again but I cook it for my family and though my kids know how I feel about the killing of critters (espically chickens….I Adore chickens), they can make their own culinary decisions as my mom let me. Now I think PETA are mainly a bunch of kooks. That model is okay but she looks hungry!

  39. Ol cranky says:

color me unimpressed by anyone who’s posed naked for PETA. These are all people who pretty much get naked at the drop of a hat so saying “i’d rather go naked than wear fur” is pretty meaningless. it ill mean something when someone who would really rather not be seen naked in public poses nude because they really would rather go naked than wear fur.

  40. Becky66 says:

@Ol cranky, true true, if I weighed 110 I’d be strutting around nekked 24/7!!! ;0)

  41. Flipper says:

@Solvieg, if you google Elizabetta and George Clooney at London premier you will find a few photos of her in the fur coat over a pink dress, I don’t really mind her looks there are times when she can be quite stunning, but that night was the worst she ever looked in my opinion. There was a discussion on a Clooney fan board about it at the time due to her ‘save the animals’ speeches, was it real or fake ? Until one photo, when blown up showed the label inside the bottom of the coat ‘Revillon’ a high end French fur company.

  42. Stephanie says:

Every time I see a story with her in it, i think “Are you talking?” like David Spade said to Chris Farley in Tommy Boy.

  43. Mingo says:

Beautiful and incredibly sexy. George Clooney is a lucky man.

  44. MeriJaan says:

I think she has a great body, but the face and hair are horrible. The accent…well, I like it. What can I say, I am married to the same accent and thats what made me like him enough to marry him. 🙂

  45. Bubbling says:

I see that English isn’t her native language but that is not excuse for butchering it like that. It’s not my either, still I’m able to put coherent sentences together. If she was with Georgey boy, I suppose they never really had any REAL conversation

  46. Solveig says:

@Flipper, I’ve found this link (hope it isn’t spamming) http://www.girlsladies.com/george-clooney-elisabetta-canalis-london-premiere-of-the-men-who-stare-at-goats/

Pink unflattering dress and black coat.
Well, it isn’t fur unless it is a very awful one from a very ruffled animal.
For the little I see it may be angora, and that would explain the Revillon label.
Angora shearing is not different from sheeps’ wool production, fortunately it is not a violent procedure, not deadly, at least.
But if it’s angora it’s not the good one, either. Can I dare to say ‘ugly coat made of synthetic wool’?

  47. Saph says:

Elisabetta also works for Cavalli who uses fur in his fashions and she has worn fur and just loves her expensive leather handbags. As for her being exploited she has done that herself for years. Her wearing clothes is unusual. Way too skinny and as per usual shows as much as she can, loved the boob hanging out shot. Her PR team had to find something for her she has been very quiet. May have something to do with George refusing to be seen with her since last year. Yes, they have probably split but for some reason just won’t admit it. PETA doesn’t seem to care who they use as long as they get publicity. Without George Clooney in the headlines no one actually has any idea who she is anyway. The interview is funny cause she clearly has no idea what she is saying unless she really finds the torture and killing of animals funny. This is why she hasn’t gotten anymore acting jobs since Leverage. Even that was a favor to George cause this girl is as lifelike as a muppet. Girl needs to eat some more KFC she is way too thin.

  48. animal lover says:

Peta has really done themselves this time. Peta will wait and throw a pie in the face of CEo’s of large companies whom they feel do a disservice by testing animals, however, will allow a woman that wears furs, carries many expensive leather purses, and eats meat. Peta would only have to look into her background in Italy and they would realize that she became a star there by posing nude in calanders, as a nun, and for any other reason to advance her career. She is using them because she is trying to do the same thing in U.S. AS for George, next time pick a lady with a little class. Anyone could google her name and believe me would see exactly what George sees in the privacy of his own home. PETA rethink this one.

  49. Hakura says:

LOL, yes, I think she meant ‘bludgeoning‘ them…

@SnowBunny“If PETA is for protecting animals from being exploited but they don’t have an issue exploiting females?”

An interesting thought. I’m sure they don’t consider these ads to be ‘objectifying’ (especially since both men & women have appeared in them.) It’s likely the most eye-catching endorsement they could get for their cause (which involves the fashion industry/clothing), while still making their point. But it’s a very personal choice how the people posing are viewing their reasons for doing so. Contributing to a cause they care about makes their decision to pose nude a form of ‘donation’.

I don’t consider this to be exploitive, personally. But I can see how some would.

@Observer – Wow. If she did all the horrible things you said, then she’s definitely a hypocrit… Probably looking for some ‘positive’ PR to keep her name ‘relevant’. Though I think there’s a fine line regarding leather. When we kill cattle, we eat the meat they provide, not wasting any part. But when we kill animals for fur… I don’t think we do, we just get rid of what’s left over once the skin is removed. & you need so many just to make 1 proper coat, it’s just terrible.

A key issue to many is the method said animals are killed with, being cruelty free… Which the fur industry is definitely not known for. (Though I’m sure those of us who aren’t vegetarian wouldn’t want to know in regards to farm animals either.) I’m always so torn when it comes to leather/meat eating. Someone else mentioned that not all leather goods are from animals that were killed for food.

I hate thinking about it, because at this point, ignorance is bliss. The more I know about the industry, the more certain I am that I’ll end up a vegetarian. Which I know is a difficult road to walk.

  50. suggabugga says:

call me silly, but I’d think Clooney would be the best reason to get neckid?

  51. junipergreen says:

Picking on her pronunciation of bludgeoning?? C’mon now. How many languages do you speak? She has to speak English perfectly to try to communicate in it?? I knew exactly what she meant. I dunno, I respect that she learned and speaks English (and probably at least one more, as many Europeans do). So it’s not perfect. Neither is my French, but I do my best. If people picked on my all the time when I spoke I wouldn’t even try anymore. It would be too humiliating. Luckily French people have always been kind and helpful with my use of the language and not rude and demeaning. Meh.

Also, I know we all hate on her because she is manly or whatever, but you know, I just don’t see it anymore. So she’s not super frilly prissy feminine. Who cares?

I won’t comment on the PETA thing. I’m vegan and I think they do SUCH a disservice. I’ll leave it at that.

  52. junipergreen says:

I stand by everything I said above, BUT:

“She wears lots of leather, including leather pants, boots, jackets, and handbags, as documented in numerous photographs. Her publicity contract ended in December, when she was allowed to do one last photo op with Clooney, and she hasn’t been near him since then.”

Oh my GOD. She is vile as a human. Such a hypocrite.

  53. Aqua says:

Maybe she wants you to do as she says and not what she does. Do these Peta ads really work? Or have these ads lost their effectiveness?

  54. blasted1 says:

For the first few seconds, I thought,”Wow! Fabio got the world’s worst facelift!” Get RuPaul on the phone! I can’t imagine what she must think when she takes a good look at these photos! I’d be super embarrassed if I were George Clooney!

  55. Theuth says:

lol, these two pictures you have chosen are hilarious, Kaiser; like, full Ferrari Zoolander mode. Well done.
Her accent is a little heavy, but cute…it’s just that she’s not very articulate, even in Italian. Have you ever seen one of her interview here? It’s that bad. Ok, English is not her first language (however, she raved in the past about her incredible “tongue skills”…must have not been for language), but this is a good translation of an horrid raw material.

  56. Rasputina says:

@ Bubbling – I’m not a native English speaker either, but lets talk your attitude – what should she do? Not speak English then? How on Earth is a person supposed to learn the language if not trying to hone their skills by conversing with others?

As for PETA, that’s one hypocritical organization. No support for them from me, and anyone who lays with PETA will lose my respect. There are many much more effective, yet less radical organizations out there that actually get the job done, instead of putting disowned animals down without even trying to find them new homes like PETA does.

  57. lambchops says:

@snowball- that is such a good point. i never thought of that but it’s so true.

PETA confuses me. I don’t wear fur, am a vegetarian and understand the brutality involved in the fur industry, but why are they more involved in anti-fur than in anti-meat eating in general? It’s a far bigger problem and far worse for the environment than fur production. Also, the meat industry affects far more animals and the cruelty involved in meat processing is on a much larger scale than the relatively rarefied fur industry.

  58. margaritachum says:

    i don’t believe in peta.
but we do help other organizations that don’t have that much support here in our country.
my hubby is vegetarian and every single animal he finds out there on the street he brings home until he finds a place for them.
we believe children and animals are the most honest creatures on this planet.
we don’t use leather or fur.
i still eat chicken or turkey and fish from time to time, sadly. but i’m working on that.=) i just love sushi to much. =S
i just think if people want to eat meat or fish that’s fine and a personal choice i just wish they could find a less painful way to kill them.

and english is not my native language neither so i’m not picking on her.=)

  59. the original bellaluna says:

I don’t eat red meat. It’s not an “ethical” choice (though my hubs tries v-e-r-y hard to make it one) but a “preference” choice. I. Don’t. Like. Red. Meat.

Hubs won’t eat tofu, I won’t wear “pleather.” So it works for us. Hubs eats the cows (beef) and I wear the leather. A much more rational choice than the extreme things we’ve seen. And there’s absolutely no guilt involved. It’s a beautiful thing!

  60. DogBoy says:

Looks-wise: 8 to 10 years from looking like Janice Dickinson.

  61. Crash2GO2 says:

“If PETA is for protecting animals from being exploited but they don’t have an issue exploiting females?”

No, they don’t. They actually consider human beings to be a plague upon the earth. Certainly much less worthy of consideration than the animals. They would like to take away all of our rights and eliminate pet ownership altogether.

  62. Lucy says:

@Kaiser:”she just showed up and took off her clothes and posed her Adam’s apple off.” Oh Kaiser, you are awesome!

Come on everyone, don’t be too harsh on her! She did what she does it best: get naked! Eli- the activist- did for a good cause PETA, the best reason why she got naked (what about nude calendar, soccer players, GC, Berlusconi-my speculation, come on Eli?!). “Doing PETA’s campaign has always been a dream”-Since she was a little girl and saw how they were “bluging” the animals?was she thinking about B*ow job when she said bluging? (haha, just kidding!)
#4: I noticed she was smiling while talking about electrocuting them, drowning…seriously?
I think GC is with her for a good laugh! Happy birthday GC!

ps: stop giving excuses about her English, it is not my first language either. I do have an accent, but I don’t “destroy” it. She is here long enough to pronounce words properly or choose a word that have similar meaning (It’s called synonym, Eli!)that she can actually pronounce. By the way, didn’t she study languages in college back in Italy?

  63. Aqua says:

I love when she says The Peta champagne has always been a dream of hers my my she has such low expectations for herself.

It’s a privilege to be here, heard that line before.

The best reason to get naked in my life.I wonder how the two time sexiest man alive feels about that lol.

  64. Lucy says:

@Aqua: I was just waiting for your comment! 🙂

Apparently, he feels good. It was reported all over the internet he had an early birthday celebration with his girlfriend- the activist- last night in LA.

  65. WhiteNoise says:

@Solveig – I agree, definitely not real fur. Meh, don’t get the hate here, countless other celebs have endorsed PETA whose lifestyles are just as contradictory as Canalis’s.

She’s not the sharpest tool in the box but then neither is Clooney so they’re well matched.

  66. Angela says:

In Italy people who still have a brain are tired of worthless people like her. She has been in the showbiz for 12 years with neither talent or personality at all. She can barely say something that makes sense in Italian, she can’t be expected to say something smart in English! Over the years she has been given plenty of opportunities as she has been all the time the GF of some celebrities at the peak of their career, but she was worthless and mediocre in everything she did (ex, she was the half-naked co-presenter of a football tv show -with no knowledge of this sport- when she was the GF of a famous footballer). She’s covered with money and she can do NOTHING. And tons of valuable people are jobless in Italy. Today news: Berlusconi wants one of his bunga bunga girls, who according to wiretapes also provided girls for his parties, to become a minister (now she’s holding only a regional office, appointed by the bunga bunga clown too) .. This is Italy,a country owned by mediocres and asskissers, and Canalis and her success mirror perfectly all that. A country where women are represented mostly as sex objects in the media. And it’s all of what she’s done for years. BTW..mediocrity rules even in the US if you give her that visibility though..and even the fact that worthless people “work” just thanks to their famous friends, or parents, or politicians…all typically and awfully Italian as well.

  67. Blah says:

Why are people making excuses for her crappy english? English not being her first language is not an excuse, as she’s been with Clooney long enough, she has studied it at school and has been around the US for years. She just can’t be bothered to work on it, that’s it. And don’t say I am being harsh because Englsih is not my first language either and I have managed to erase my accent pretty well because I applied myself to it while trying to balance a life that is probably more stressful than hers. Come on!

  68. Kasey says:

The English thing doesn’t bother me too much b/c I live in a foreign country and have taught ESL for about 5 years. I’m used to hearing different accents butchering English and I’ve experienced butchering either other language’s grammar or accents. I do think that being his girlfriend and her background/experience (maybe she doesn’t have as much genuine interaction with English as I’m assuming) her English would be better. Do they live in the US/Italy? Does he speak Italian? It would make all the difference in the world if they live in the US and if he speaks Italian to her so she’s not getting to hear genuine English. I wonder what they talk about and the level of their conversation.

Anyway, to my discredit, I really came on here to promote meanness. I just CANNOT get over the fact that she is so manly looking. Only because I googled her and found younger pics of her with a softer face (and comes across a little Kate Beckinsdale-looking) am I willing to be convinced that she is not really a dude (sorry Kaiser, I truly looked, I don’t see the Adam’s apple and I am willing to be a believer!). But I digress, I find it amusing that right about the point where she says, “Okay, I think this is the best reason why….. ” (1:03) she tilts her head and is seriously looking like a drag version of Cindy Crawford! Cracks me UP! Did Clooney ever date her? Regardless, it makes me wonder if he’s been long infatuated with her and EC is the closest he could get to his dream girl. Anyway, she clearly has a woman’s body so the whole GC likes dudes thing is very confusing with me. She has a dude’s face but a woman’s body? As long as he’s happy, I guess.

  69. decemberist15 says:

Listen, I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again:

I’m all for PETA: people for the eating of tasty animals that is.

I think PETA is kind of like the Spanish group Menudo. It is a company/activist group run by a bunch of angsty pre teens and once their CEO hits high school they just replace them… how else can you explain their stupid ad campaigns and stupid explanations behind them?

The greatest campaign they had you ask? I think it had to be when they tried getting fish renamed sea kittens… seriously. The reasoning behind this asinine campaign? “You wouldn’t want to eat a kitten, would you?”

For real PETA, grow up and get realistic. Don’t be bullies and accept that some people wear leather and eat meat. It’s a choice.

I remember my mother and I were walking around on a particularly cold day and she was wearing a fur coat. Some PETA A hole threw paint on her. Not only did my mom take her to court, but in the end the woman had to reimburse her for a brand new fur coat! Now THATS justice! We don’t throw granola and tofu on you, please show the same respect towards others.

I think my rant is done for now.

  70. Fleur says:

The best reason why I got naked would be George Clooney 🙂
