Kirstie Alley in figure-hugging Roland Mouret: lovely or tragic?

fp_7514591_alley_kirstie_rod_05_06

Here are some photos of Kirstie Alley from a few days ago in NYC. She’s wearing the a Roland Mouret dress (it‘s either “Myrthra” or “Galaxy”), but if it looks familiar to you, just know that Victoria Beckham and a few other designers pretty much copied this look. Posh Beckham even used to wear a lot of Mouret – and then when she began her own line, there “Mouret” was again. Anyway… I think Kirstie is looking pretty good here. Not size-4, 22-inch-waist good, but she looks rested and her hair is not a mess, and the dress fits her, kind of. I mean, she’s stuffed in there like a well-packed sausage, and she’s probably being helped with the motherload of Spanx. Still, she looks good. However, The Mail is making a big deal about Kirstie’s hands, and how they give away the fact that she’s 60 years old. Here’s a closeup:

Now, the bitch is 60 years old! Of course there are parts of her that look 60 years old. But overall, Kirstie could pass for a woman much, much younger. And that’s my word of wisdom for the ladies who are aging: gain a little weight. It softens your face and makes you look younger. Seriously!

By the way, did you know that Kirstie got a new movie role? She’s playing the CEO of Pepsi in a film called Syrup, all about “two twenty-somethings trying to make it to the top of the soda industry’s corporate ladder.” Guess who is in it? KELLAN LUTZ!!!!!!!! Oh, God, that just makes my day. KELLAN LUTZ and Kirstie Alley. Heaven. Delusional heaven.

She is 60 – give her a break. She looks awesome. I wish I could look like her when I am her age. Love her!

  2. teehee says:

I thought it was a Beckham gown by the style of it, I was curious who made it 🙂

  3. curleque says:

Her hands are those of a 75 year old… and are the least of her problems.

Above-the-knee is not a good look for her… yeesh.

  4. Ari says:

Yes, she looks awesome for 60 but she has grandma hands and cankles and its not attractive…why is that Helem Mirren is the same age (older) and looks better :L

Because she knows how to take care of herself.

  5. yadicakes says:

Love the dress. She looks good but maybe could have worn some nylons for those legs. We all have our little secret weapons

  6. ZenB says:

I NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER say this but… she’s 60, she needs to wear hose. She looks great and she does have to a 12 to get into one of those designer dresses because that is the largest size they make, so I believe she did lose 90 lbs: 22 to 12… BUT she’s 60 she has high blood pressure meds swell in her legs. My mom had that for a while until they adjusted her meds but her feet are still a bit puffy.

  7. GoofPuff says:

She looks great in that dress but omigod her legs look like sausages. What gives? Cankles? Hopefully she’s keeping up her exercise and not the starvation diet she was denying she was doing on DWTS. Her face looks great.

  8. crab says:

Geez they make it sound like it’s a crime to be 60!! Give her a break, she looks awesome!! We all get old people!!

  9. Lantana says:

Well, she looks better than she did. I used to have a friend that was thin and then she gained weight and was about the size of Kirstie now. When she’d meet new people she’d bring up how she “just lost 35 pounds” (not “gained”) and they’d always tell her how great she looked. So…with that attitude (that people think you look better if they think you lost weight), I guess Kirstie looks great.

  10. the original bellaluna says:

It could be much, much worse, so I’m not saying anything mean. She looks good, especially for 60; and hands are one of the first, most obvious signs of aging, as far as I’m concerned.

  11. snackysnaxx says:

I like the silhouette of the dress on her, it’s just a little too tight. And with her thicker legs, those spindly heels aren’t doing her any favors. I like her hair and necklace, though.

She IS 60. How are her hands supposed to look?

  12. Kaboom says:

    Fabric under duress.

  13. ZenB says:

@GoodPuff not sure how old you are but those legs are why they make support hose. My mom had to wear them for a while until they found the right blood pressure meds for her. I was in my 30s at the time and it was a revelation.

  14. Luci says:

I love Rouland Mouret, classy, chic, minimalist and always super-flattering cuts

  15. Lexi Laine says:

She looks like a 60 year old woman should look, put together and classy. Not flashing cleavage or wearing a mini skirt. Keep it up Kirstie, and throw those hideous muu muus away for good!

  16. Katie M. says:

The dress is lovely (I would wear it myself!). I think she looks fantastic!

  17. Patricia says:

    Beyond FUG

  18. ladybert62 says:

She looks good and that dress is nice on her . She is not a size 4 – absolutely no way! Hands and neck will also give away ones age – and hers do. But in the large picture of life, who really cares – she looks happy and healthy.

  19. Novaraen says:

Yeah…she looks much better than she did. Although for someone who is dancing up a storm…her legs are still very sausage-y. Oh and that dress looks ultra TIGHT.

  20. benny says:

I think that dress looks great on her – it flatters her in the right places. And I agree women should gain a little weight as they age, it helps their face stay young. But I’m sorry, on THIS particular woman, it hasn’t helped her face. It’s hideous. It has nothing to do with her weight – there are plus sized women who are 60-ish who still look fantastic, like Ann Wilson or Oprah. But Alley’s face is too manish and distorted somehow(years of drug abuse?).

  21. Cheyenne says:

That dress would look very good on her if it was a size larger. But she definitely needs some support hose. She’s got veins popping out all over her legs.

  22. bzero3 says:

Money did that to her. She always talked about how she took time off to bake pies and cakes and be with her kids. We should all be so fat and rich.

  23. fabgrrl says:

    Not bad!

  24. theonlyone says:

    She looks lovely.

  25. ReRe says:

    CANKLES!!!!

  26. mln76 says:

She looks great and anyone crying CANKLES I can’t wait to take a pictures of you at 60 BUT why lie about her size?

  27. Amanda G says:

She looks great. Must we point out that she is aging with zoomed pictures? She’s 60. I’d like to see what some of your mothers look like.

  28. curleque says:

Cankles isn’t the problem… just general lumpiness in the legs. It just isn’t an appropriate dress for her.

  29. Patata says:

    @Kaboom
    Fabric under duress….KABOOM!!!!!

  30. Quest says:

Hey at 60, she is looking lovely and great for her age…I like the dress.

Can you imaging how all those so-called 20-somethings (that look horrible right now/not their age) would look when they cross 50 far less 60. I just would like her to do something with her hair

  31. Delta Juliet says:

I think she looks great. It looks like she actually put effort into her appearance (which, let’s be honest, she doesn’t always) and the dress looks nice on her. No, her body isn’t perfect, and neither is 90% of the rest of the world. She does need some hose though.

  32. tar says:

    size 6

  33. Jezi says:

The best I’ve seen her look lately. Is she really 60? Wow…she looks good for 60.

  34. Jaxx says:

I can hear those Spanxs a’squealin’!

  35. fannomore says:

does it come in a caftan?

  36. rkintn says:

It’s not like she’s running around claiming to be 30..she readily admits to being 60. So, yeah her hands look like you would expect them to. Some hosiery on the legs would have really made her look more polished, but overal..I hope I look as good at 60 as she does:)

  37. Carol says:

Has she had something done to her face? I am getting a plastic surgery vibe. Big-time.

  38. Jen34 says:

    She looks great.

  39. gab says:

I think she looks lovely in this dress. It is very flattering on her. She looks better in the fitted style than the big and baggy. I hope she keeps the weight off and stays healthy now!

  40. sarah says:

It’s a little tight, but it’s cute on her.

  41. bluhare says:

She looks good, but I hope she isn’t going to turn into the next Jennifer Hudson wearing skintight everything.

We get it. YOu lost weight. You look great. Now wear something that doesn’t look like it would burst if you stuck a pin in it.

  42. Minx2 says:

She looks great but she needs to wear support hose, that’s all. Otherwise she looks great and age appropriate. I’m amazed how good her arms look.

  43. TeeTee says:

her calves, terrify me–varicose veins and no muscle tone in the least bit..I thought she was exercising..

    forget it

  44. Angela says:

She’s 60 and her hands look 60. Big fucking deal! There’s nothing wrong with people looking their own age.

  45. moptop says:

I’m always fascinated by people who have lost weight. They’re always so proud that they’ve lost the weight that they squish themselves into skin tight clothing, but the proper size would make them look so much better. I’m also concerned about her health – her legs do NOT look healthyan like maybe blood pressure or arterial problems. I wonder if she has seen a doctor.

  46. Onyx XV says:

I wouldn’t go so far as to say the dress is tragic, but it certainly would look better if it was one size larger. (Just one more size, Kirstie!)

To me the tragedy is and always has been her hair. It gets worse as time passes. Now it’s pure brass and dead ends. Time for a visit to the salon!

  47. Cheyenne says:

@Onyx: Co-sign about the hair. She needs to get rid of the bleach and get a good short cut.

  48. 4Real says:

Her legs are simply refusing to cooperate with her um “size 4” frame but FANTASTIC for even a 50yr old really.

  49. Violet says:

I think she looks terrific. And I don’t think she needs hose, FFS. Her legs are fine, they don’t need to be covered up. Why are people so damn obsessed with physical perfection?

Most celebrities look completely plastic by the time they’re 40, because they’ve had so much work done but Kirstie is aging gracefully. (Well, except for lying about her size. So silly!)

  50. Deb says:

This is about the least slovenly I’ve seen her looking in a while. Her hair doesn’t look like an unwashed mess for a change. It’s a nice dress, but she should have sized up. There’s no shame in that, sweetie.

  51. faye says:

there is nothing wrong with being a big girl, what’s wrong is wearing shit that doesnt flatter your figure. I like this dress on her.

  52. Zombie Nurse says:

The Mouret looks great on her. His dresses are so crazy flattering because they all have an inner dress made of “power-net” which is fancy French designer speak for industrial strength Spanx lining the entire sucker.

  53. atorontogal says:

At least she combed her hair today!

  54. Judy says:

Wow, I think she looks fantastic in this, and quit finding every little thing you can to criticize her about, even down to a close-up of her hands. Perfection is BORING, and I find real women a helluva lot more attractive than plastic ones. And her arms look a lot better than mine do!

  55. eternalcanadian says:

Oh hey, Kirstie actually looks decent! But too bad about her hair. It always looks like a soppy mess. Would she look better if she cut some off, or at least put it up in a tidy knot to show off the neckline of the dress?

Also, what’s up with her facial expressions. She always looks like she’s half snockered or on the way there and half-closing her eyes makes her look just weird. 😛

  56. Maritza says:

Her legs would look better if she would wear pantyhose but she looks pretty fabulous compared to how fat she was before.

  57. Lee says:

If she does have high blood pressure, does Scientology allow meds for it?

  58. MsLIb says:

    The hands tell it all.

  59. Lushus L. says:

Who is that gentleman I always see with her? A previous poster said he looks like a criminal defense attorney. LOL. Just wondering.

  60. april says:

Very cute dress. Her face looks great. Hands definitely show her age. But as long as my face and neck looked good I wouldn’t care so much about the rest.

  61. erika says:

She is Fabulous…I can only wish I look that young at 60…she looks good!!! Jst give her a break…and LOVE the dress fits her perfectly…

  62. Kiska says:

What is she suppose to get a hand-lift now? She’s F%$#ing 60 years old, PEOPLE!

  63. really says:

For a big girl: She looks a zillion times better than Beyawnce!

  64. the original bellaluna says:

My hands have held my children, bathed them, caressed them; washed countless cloth diapers; changed countless diapers; given endless baths; prepared countless meals; rubbed my babies’ backs and rubbed their hair to soothe them; done countless dishes and loads of laundry; applied numerous bandaids to boo-boos (real and imagined); played Legos, blocks, Barbies, Pokemon, Nintendo, PlayStation, and X Box; applied lots of sunblock; wrapped more presents (Christmas and birthdays) than we care to imagine; carried them and their stuff; wrung when they were teens and weren’t home on time and I was worried; fold in prayer for them always.

    My hands tell my story.

  65. crab says:

@ The Original Bellaluna, that was so nice very touching!!

  66. Quest says:

@ The Original Bellaluna: absolutely love it 🙂

  67. Leticia says:

I’m stunned, shocked at how decent she looks!

  68. RHONYC says:

some endermologie sessions on those legs wouldn’t be a bad thing.

if shoes could talk, hers would weep.

    poor soles. 🙁

  69. Kim says:

More power to her that she lost weight and feels great but i hate when women lose weight and then decide to shove themselves in clothing to small. She looks like a stuffed sausage.

  70. california angel says:

Not all designers stop at size 12 just the bitchy ones who deign to go past size 7(most l.a. boutiques for example); meanwhile the great figure of the 50’s were a typical size 12 these days so who’s to say that a lil weight is bad. Yeesh.

  71. Swaneejen says:

Good God, the woman looks great and more power to her to have lost the weight with the help of dancing, but people, no matter how much weight one loses, her body shape is her body shape and she just has big legs. You can’t reshape them really. And obviously, she accepts her hands the way they are… you go woman!
