Guy Ritchie says Madonna is spying on him

Guy Ritchie has accused soon-to-be ex-wife Madonna of being such a control freak that she’s been spying on him since the two officially separated. Guy was said to be livid after the private details of their divorce negotiations were recently leaked. He thinks Madge is using her staff to keep tabs on him and report back to her – which frankly doesn’t surprise him, since she’s always been so controlling.

ANGRY GUY RITCHIE believes MADONNA is SPYING on him during their break-up. Guy, 40, was furious that details of a private divorce “war summit” were leaked to his wife, The Sun can reveal. He believes the pop queen is using her huge staff to report his every move. Guy has slammed what he calls Madonna’s underhand tactics. He has even compared her approach to their split as being like “something concocted by the KGB”, raging at her: “This is a divorce, not the Cold War.”

A close family friend said yesterday: “Any hopes Guy had of their divorce being private and dignified are well and truly out the window. The allegations he was a cruel and neglectful husband have torn him apart so much that he invited his father and sister to the house on the weekend for dinner. They discussed the divorce and how Guy could stand his ground against the Goliath that is Madonna and her PR machine.”

But the friend said Guy was stunned to discover Madonna, 50, knew about the dinner and had been keeping tabs on him for days. The source said: “When Guy found out he lost the plot. “He said, ‘How can you set fire to our whole world? Why go to such lengths to destroy me?’ But Guy knows it would be unusual if Madonna wasn’t monitoring his every move. She is a control freak and there’s so much at stake.”

Madonna said Guy “emotionally abandoned her” and her friends said he reduced his stepdaughter LOURDES to tears with a comment about her “becoming a woman”.

[From The Sun]

That last comment is really odd. The article goes on to say what a doting and devoted father Guy is. If there’s any truth that he said that, it can easily be misconstrued and taken out of context. Dads (and stepdads) can be insensitive towards what girls go through as they’re “becoming a woman” without meaning to be. There’s no way to know what his intent was, and the article doesn’t explain it. I think whichever one of Madonna’s people let that little anecdote slip did it hoping it would prove to be highly inflammatory – which it might well end up being.

I doubt Guy legally has any influence over if he gets to spend time with Lourdes. He’s her stepdad and never adopted her, so I would guess any time he spends with her from now on will be at Madonna’s discretion. All of their kids have slightly different parent situations, with son Rocco being the only one that is biologically theirs together. David is legally both of theirs, but it’s been often stated that Guy did not want to adopt him. I guess we’ll see how true that is depending on how their custody situation plays out.

I don’t know why, but I expected better from Madonna in this situation. She’s made such a big deal about being spiritual and all this growth she’s supposedly gone through over the last ten years. Yet instead she’s being as petty and spiteful as a teenager. And doing a similar about of gossipy backstabbing. It would be nice if somehow their lawyers at least managed to get this over with as quickly as possible, for the children’s sake.

My initial thought about the “becoming a woman” line is that maybe he made the decision to no longer hug and kiss Lourdes. Lots of “men’s men” get uncomfortable hugging and kissing their daughters when they no longer look like children and start to look like women.

  2. Leandra says:

This whole story sounds trumped up for publicity. There might be a sliver of truth there somewhere hidden among the gossip. All that aside, it would be much easier if they stopped the mud-slinging, and became mature adults in this divorce for the sake of the children.

  3. Kaiser says:

I really don’t get why the “becoming a woman” comment is supposed to be controversial? Lola is becoming a woman. *shrug* Isn’t that a statement of fact?

  4. Livia says:

If I were Lourdes, I’d be far more horrified that my mother mentioned anything about my “becoming a woman” to the entire fucking world – especially since “becoming a woman” is often polite code for “getting your period”. Way to go with the parenting skills, Madge.

  5. geronimo says:

    From The Sun:

“The Brit made a comment about the youngster “becoming a woman” after taking her out for lunch. Lourdes began crying and refused to speak to Guy afterwards. A pal said “Guy made a flippant comment that Lola was beginning to grow boobs. She’s at a sensitive age and burst into tears — screaming at Guy for embarrassing her.”

Embarrassing for Lourdes, yes. Typical ‘insensitive bloke’ comment, yes. Deliberate attempt to embarrass her by Guy, no.

Seriously, can Madonna go any lower?

  6. dr.grrl says:

at least the comment was about her blossoming boobs and not her mustache.

pre-pubescent girls can cry at the drop of a hat. and their sense of humor is on the same emotional roller coaster.

maybe if she was allowed a cookie she would have felt better! or if her mother wasn’t an egomaniac her response to guy would have been better.

  7. devilgirl says:

    @dr.grrl- Too funny!

  8. dr.grrl says:

oh how i keeps it real!! 😆

(am now hiding from the madonna militia under my bed!)

  9. Kaiser says:

@G, interesting. I don’t remember freaking out when I started growing my boobs. My mom just said, “Time for a bra” and I was like “Oh, okay.”

But people talking about my period did freak me out. Awkward age, but if your dad or step-dad says something a bit bloke-ish, what’s the big f-cking deal?

  10. geronimo says:

@K – exactly, nothing but normal awkward age stuff.

What’s pathetic here is the implication by Madge that he was being deliberately cruel. Nobody’s buying all her anti-Guy shit and she obviously can’t stand it.

  11. ak says:

“Any hopes Guy had of their divorce being private and dignified…”

Oh, please. It’s freakin’ Madonna. She hasn’t been private in 30 years. I’m guessing she’s never been dignified. It’s not like her childish, narcissistic, idiotic personality is hidden under layers of wit and charm. Guy’s quelle horreur routine is wearing thin.

  12. Mr. T says:

The tabs are going to generate a lot of publicity on this story. I suspect most of it is made up.

  13. Kaiser says:

@G – Oh, I totally agree. Have you been reading Lainey? She’s saying that some of the articles at People show a de facto “mainstream celeb gossip” declaration of war on Madonna.

I think Madge has been manipulating the media for so long, she hasn’t noticed that the gossip world has changed, and that people are NOT going to print her version automatically, just to keep on her good side. Because, really, how many more years is Madge going to sell magazines? I mean, unless the mags are telling us how horrible she is? 😕

  14. geronimo says:

@K – does not surprise me in the least. I really think it’s because, whatever she’s been able to get away with in the past, this Guy-as-monster stuff is a manipulation too far for most stomachs.

  15. Kaiser says:

@G, that and ACCESS. Madge plays games for access, and a bunch of gossip people aren’t going to play by her rules just for access – instead, they’ll print the “Nasty Madonna” versions because it easier and cheaper.

    I’m glad we’ve figured it all out! 😆 😉 😆

  16. Feebee says:

I don’t think any one with half a brain doubts Madonna is keeping an eye on Guy and will continue to be at her manipulative, exploitative, vindictive best during this divorce campaign. I sincerely hope Guy fights for Rocco because while Madonna has a good relationship with Carlos Leon to the benefit of Lourdes, I don’t see the same thing happening with Guy and I see access troubles ahead for him.

  17. PJ says:

The more details that come out, the more you realize what a mismatch these two were. Guy is young enough to have a second family, maybe he will if he loses these kids.

  18. Catie says:

Madonna has and always will be a pathetic excuse for a human being. I just don’t get what people like about her. She has absolutely no talent whatsoever.

  19. PK says:

Trying times my Ass …. What say guys ?

  20. Samantha says:

I love her music, but she is a skank, always has been a skank, and always will be a skank. She knows how to master the spotlight, that is why she has been around for so long. Everyone is a pawn in her twisted game of staying famous, and now its turned from obvious to just plain sad.

  21. Shay says:

Looks like she’s about to attack his face and eat it in that pic.

  22. Dancealot says:

Yes, its strange that Madonna has spent hours and hours devoting her life and convincing others to the teachings of Kabbalah. Why is she acting like a teenager dissing Guy or saying he married her for the money? If he married her for the money, he could of left years ago and come on….we all know what a shrewd business woman she is…..is this the best excuse she can come up with??? anything to take the blame off of she and her little puppy, Alex Rodriguez.

  23. Londonfog says:

If Guy has not produced as many movies because his wife has done more world tours since they have been married; well, I think he is entitled to some dough for watching over the kids, homes, etc. She is out working (by choice) and has control of him and what he is doing. If you are married to a control freak like that, I hope he gets paid for kissing her ass and dealing with all the b.s. surrounding her life. Additionally, her brother dissed him in his recent book. I hope he finds someone else more laid back and nicer…maybe like Jennifer Aniston.

  24. vdantev says:

I’d usually have trouble believing this, except that it’s Miss Control Freak extraordinaire and she’s probably smart enough to try and find something to use on him in the divorce.

  25. Rio says:

I can’t help but think that some of Madonna’s obsession with youth has rubbed off on Lourdes. Girls that age are VERY impressionable and living with a mother who is so very clearly frightened of aging has to have had some impact. I can’t help but wonder (if the quote actually happened in the first place) if Lourdes, due to her upbringing, wouldn’t have thought of it as Guy saying, “You’re getting old”.

  26. Judy says:

Everyone goes after madonna LOlo like they slept in her bed and know what her husband is like behind closed doors, “What a joke. Just because the guy can’t make a decent movie and she has the money people think his failures are all her fault. Not! He is a cry baby, crying to his daddy and sister and now nshe is “spying ” on him LOL The man needs a life ..but I am sure he is going for half of everything she made lol
