Gillian Anderson has a baby boy

Gillian Anderson had a baby boy, Felix Griffiths, on October 15th, with her boyfriend, director Mark Griffiths. It is the third child for the X-Files actress. 40 year-old Anderson also has a 13 year-old daughter, Piper, from her first marriage, and a one year-old son, Oscar, also with Griffiths. Anderson and Griffiths reside in London.

Anderson starred in the second installment of the X Files films, The X Files: I Want to Believe, which was out this July. The film had disappointing sales at the box office, and was largely thought to suffer from the nearly six year gap since the belated end of the TV series. She also appears in How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, out now, and has at least three projects in the works for next year.

Congratulations to the happy family on their new arrival!

Felix and Oscar? Is she on crack?

Felix and Oscar are cuuuuute names!! Love her… Julianne Moore has always reminded me of a bitchy version of Gillian. They should give all of Jullianne’s roles to Gillian.

Congrats! Love the name…anagram for x-file πŸ˜† Or maybe she loves the Odd Couple πŸ˜‰

    Congrats Scully!!

Congratulations Gillian! I’m really happy for her. Three kids, wow.

I also think the names are cute and all go together well. Felix is a good name because it works in all kinds of languages, as does Oscar. I wonder why they chose those names. She called her daughter after the X-Files episode Piper Maru, which I thought was so cool back in the day. I was (am) a huge X-Phile.

It’s true that Gillian is an underestimated actress. She is so versatile and talented but nobody really ever seems to notice. If nothing else, the latest X-Files movie put her back on the big map and hopefully it will help her new projects and further her career some more. The more Gillian we can get, the better!

I wonder if the boys are gingers. Piper is. Love the lovely gingers!

    love her.

  8. Anni says:

Anna: wrong. the episode was called after piper, piper was born in 94 and the episode is from 96 πŸ˜‰

Yay for Gillian! She is amazing! πŸ™‚

Love her too guys… but I would not have named my sons after the Odd Couple. *she said, showing her age* πŸ™‚

Felix & Oscar…that is too damn funny!

  12. czarina says:

I like the first name, but it really doesn’t flow with his surname “Felix Griffiths” (say that five times..don’t bother trying to go fast!)
And I agree with you, Anna, she has been under-rated as an actress. She is very good. Has anyone heard of anything else she’s done recently besides the X-Files movie?

  13. Jaclyn says:

czarina, she was just in How to Lose Friends and Alienate People…still in theatres, I believe.

  14. czarina says:

Thanks Jaclyn–I’ll probably check it out when it’s on DVD (the only movies I get to go to these days are G-rated with my kids!)

  15. Jeanne says:

    She’s a good actress.

  16. Paypal says:

She didn’t name thm after “The Odd Couple”. Her manager publishd a statement two days after the birth. Just a coincidence, because Gillian had no idea.

And Piper wasn’t named after an x-file episode, it was rather the other way around. But you are so right about her being underestimated. Wonderful actress! I’m looking forward to go and see her in Ibsen’s play “A Doll’s House” here in London in the spring!

I went to college, in Chicago, with Gillian, from 1986-1988 (I graduated 2 years before her). She knows DAMNED WELL what the Odd Couple is. We had to study the Neil Simon stage play in scene study. I think she can put on quite the act when she “claims” never to of heard of it.
