Miranda Kerr: Orlando wanted the epidural during Flynn’s birth

Here are some new photos of Miranda Kerr and her adorable baby Flynn in LA over the weekend. For my money, I tend to think Flynn is one of the cutest of all of the celebrity babies. I know it’s not a competition and all babies are beautiful, etc, but Flynn is a little star to me – he just looks so happy and connected to his mom, and he seems like such a docile, easy-going, chubby little guy. I love him!

Anyway, Miranda did a new interview (video at the bottom) with an Australian TV show, Sunday Night, and there are some interesting quotes from the piece. Some of the quotes are similar to her interview last week, but there is some new stuff, and Miranda seems like a sweetheart.

Miranda on her natural childbirth: “I had made the decision to not have any drugs, no epidural, nothing. Each to their own. I’m crazy for doing that! A lot of my friends who have had epidurals have said, ‘Oh (labor) was so great’.” Asked if her resolve wavered at any point during the labor, she admitted: “I remember looking at Orlando and saying ‘Oh honey.’ And he said, ‘Give me the epidural! Seriously, if you don’t want it I’ll take it because right now I’m dying watching you go through this pain’. I didn’t realize (Flynn) was going to be such a big baby.”

It wasn’t love at first sight with Orly: “I think it was his persistence,. Maybe he wanted me because he thought he couldn’t have me. I was reluctant – not about him, but the idea of that (him being a movie star).”

On having more children: “I always thought I would have three. Right now I’m just trying to enjoy Flynn. They say the first three years are the most important, so I want to make sure that he gets the attention and the nurturing and love that he really needs. so we’ll see what happens.”

[From The Mail]

Haha, she didn’t fall for Orly right away. Good for her for not sugar-coating it. I’ve always believed that Orly is WAY more into Miranda than she is with him. Not that Miranda doesn’t love him – I think she does. But I think Orly is just utterly devoted to her, and he walks around feeling like the luckiest guy in the world because she married him and had his baby.

Here’s the video of the interview:

  3. Bubulle says:

God she’s so annoying, I wish she could shut up about her pregnancy/delivery, not even talking about pimping out her kid every chance she gets.

  4. Maritza says:

    Adorable baby…

  5. mia girl says:

Flynn is cuteness wrapped in a blanket of adorable!

I think he has Bloom’s eyes.

  6. Praise St. Angie! says:

look at those pudgy legs! oh, he’s a cutie for sure!

  7. KJ says:

Everyone should watch that video. I never pay a ton of attention to Miranda Kerr, but that was a pretty adorable/informative tv spot. She’s precious. And that baby is the cutest.

  8. TQB says:

He is a chubby little cutie!

It may be my own pregnant state, but she’s definitely growing on me over this whole baby thing. It’s good for those of us going the natural delivery route to remember the effect it may have on our partners; I think at this point hubby is way more worried about it than I am.

We get the nice endorphin rush after delivery and the whole baby-amnesia thing; they just get to watch us suffer and worry.

  9. brin says:

    That’s sweet (and funny)!

  10. Carrie says:

OMG he’s SO cute! She’s also adorable and comes across so well 🙂

  11. gee says:

I never really cared about either of them, but now I love them both. This baby is the cutest thing EVARR.

I guess my baby hormones are carbonated.

but that little baby is the most adorble thing ever!!!!

    she is perfection.

  14. the other mel says:

That sweet little baby makes me smile whenever I see him! He is a little sugarplum.

  15. Novaraen says:

Cute baby!! He has daddy’s eyebrows! 🙂

  16. Laura says:

I’m sorry, but I think the kid looks like a mini sumo wrestler. I’m not a baby fan though, lol.

  17. JSobz says:

Adorable. She is lovely and seems so sincere.

  18. bluhare says:

There is nothing cuter than a chubby baby. Nothing.

  19. dleen says:

does she have anything else to say?
    airhead attention seeker

  20. cellabot says:

my baby has that same giraffe

  21. RHONYC says:

    she is SOOOO the ‘anti-Gisele’!

why is it that Aussies are so damn cool & down-to-earth?

    i love that about them.

she & her family are super. the grandparents have such a great outlook on life after their tragedy.

that baby is so happy & adorable. 10 lbs at birth, da-yum! homegirl deserves a medal. *phew*

    😆

  22. UKHels says:

really taken with all of them actually

  23. Gwen says:

I’ve grown to really like her and Flynn is too adorable 😀

  24. the original bellaluna says:

Oh, he’s such a cute little chubs! He looks like his daddy, with more weight and less hair!

I think it’s pretty normal for men to hate to see their wives in that amount of pain. My hubs kept saying “I’m so sorry I did this to you” over and over again. It was sweet.

  25. Blank says:

I used to like her a lot, but I agree that she talks way too much about her personal life. Especially the details about the delivery that should be more sacred, I think.

It makes her seem like another person who is famous for being famous. She should talk about what she actually does for a living instead.

  26. Boromir's bytch says:

She’s sure got Orli’s balls in her handbag.

I’m beginning to think Tom Ford’s sermon on not pimping out babies has merit. Especially with Miranda.

  27. the original bellaluna says:

@ Blank – But she’s a VS model. What do you want her to talk about? Parading around in her underwear?

  28. Blank says:

@the original bellaluna – True, but she can still talk about fashion, poses, things that make her feel attractive, etc. You know like how people teach you in high school to fluff resumes even if you’ve never really worked. Her talking about her OB and her kid makes it seem like she’s only famous for being married to him. And that’s sad. Everyone should have pride in their job.

Besides this is the internet age. I feel like she’s going to end up embarrassing her child later on. Imagine getting on the internet for the first time and realizing how many things your parents told the world. And she will. If she can talk about OB peeing in a bottle than she will inevitably say something humiliating about her child.

It’s the lack of privacy that celebrity children get that bothers me. And I think she’s already feeding it. Maybe I’m reading WAY too much into it, but I don’t think we should even be discussing this child. But we are and largely due to her bringing it up.

  29. Blue says:

He does look like a sumo wrestler, but that’s what makes him so cute. I have no idea how she carries him around all the time.
I love chubby babies, so cute

  30. Amy says:

I watched the interview and her grandmother is just adorable! It’s so nice the interview people were able to fly her grandparents to meet LA to meet Flynn, especially after their house burned down. He looks like such a happy baby.

  31. GradStudentEatingHotPockets says:

OMG He is like a meatball nugget of joy! ahhh!! And he has that giraffe toy that they can bite on and stuff…ahh! I just want to play with him and feed him!

Just a nugget ball of joy! ahhh!

  32. Joe's Mom says:

Maybe Miranda and Orlando have helped out her grandparents by now, so maybe I’m taking this wrong, but don’t you think, with the money she and Orlando have, she could have re-built her grandparents’ house, or bought them a new one, AND flown the Grandparents out here WAY before the baby was 6 months old? The “interview people” had to fly them, and her parents, out???? Really, really strange.

  33. ctkat1 says:

She seems very sweet, and her family is lovely.

    As for bringing up/filming the baby- I don’t know…

On the one hand I completely respect celebrities who absolutely refuse to have their children be a part of their “public” life.

On the other hand, there’s a current wave of interest in the children of celebrities; it can keep some people with middling careers in the public eye (think Jessica Alba, Nicole Richie, Tori Spelling, Katie Holmes, even Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom) far more than their resumes would indicate.
I’m sure there’s a piece of them that thinks it’s better to control the exposure, rather than have the kids be hunted…

  34. TQB says:

oo! I just realized that’s the fancy giraffe teether I got last week at a shower! I feel cool now.

  35. mimi says:

Why was it important to her to make the point that she didn’t take epidural?

Is there a prize for women who don’t take it?

Why go through so much pain for no reason at all?

She reminds me a bit of Gisele playing the “I’m a super mom” thing.

  36. Sunday says:

    God I LOVE her!!

  37. Embee says:

I really, really wish I could pull off the red pants and striped top the way that she does. Sigh.

  38. beclove says:

    Beautiful baby!!

  39. BW Perth says:

Ummm why couldnt Minanda Kerr pay for her Grandparents to fly out to visit and see the new bub? Her appearance on Sunday Night just proved she is pathetic money hungry…thing. A TV show should not have to pay for her grandparents flights.

  40. Andie B says:

I’m glad it went well for her..I was in so much agony I didn’t even know my husband was in the room. After 15 hours I had an epidural – why I wasn’t offered one earlier I don’t know. Then at the 21 hour mark I had to have an emergency c-section. A lot of midwives are anti epidurals as they can slow down the labour, but if I’m ever in that kind of pain again I will be demanding an epidural very early on. Yes, having babies hurts, but if the paing can be made to go away no need to be a martyr.

  41. Isa says:

He looks like that Mason Dixon kid to me. And he has no ankles! Just fat rolls lol!

  42. Charlotte says:

That is the CUTEST baby ever!! I don’t know much about her, but in all photos, she just looks so comfortable and content as a mom.

  43. Trillion says:

Original Bella Luna: My husband thanked me over and over in the delivery room and his face went from white to gray several times. Sweet.
The Sophie Giraffe teether is ubiquitous here in San Francisco. They’re a classic French toy from the mid-sixties (still made in France, still in their original design) and are stupidly cute. My kid had a couple.

  44. Laura Daniela says:

My god that’s a real interview, I laugh so much, she has a great family values and her grandparents are so lovely, and Flynn is such a big boy with orlando’s eyebrows… he’s going to be happy with that mom, dad, grandparets who doesn’t?…
and Miranda is always going to be a role model for me… that hard work but at the end is such a great life… (:
