Lady Gaga: “Art is a lie. And every day I kill to make it true.”

64187pcn_gaga07

Here are some new photos of Lady Gaga, going into Howard Stern’s show today, Monday, in NYC. Bitch got a new wig, I think. It looks pretty good, although now I can’t stop thinking about how messed up her hair clumps must be underneath all of the wig accoutrements. Will you hate me if I say that I kind of like her hooker boots/garter thing? I wouldn’t wear it, but I kind of like it on Gaga. Anyway, today’s special Gaga treat is her July column for V Magazine. It‘s been out for a few weeks, but this is the first time I‘m reading the whole thing, and I just wanted to see if you guys had seen it yet. Back in May, we read excerpts from Gaga’s first “column” for the magazine, which included Gaga’s musings on how she was a coked-up “student of glam culture.” This month’s cocaine-laced episode involves Gaga pretending to be the wig-wearing, crackhead, drag-queen version of the love child of e.e. cummings and Jack Kerouac. What am I trying to say? Bitch is hammered and tedious. The column is laid out like a memo, and before the text of the memo even begins, here’s Gaga’s list of everyone this memo should be forwarded to: “MRS. VREELAND, HAUS OF GAGA, V COLLECTIVE, LITTLE MONSTERS, THE WORLD, FASHION-SEXUALS, PHILIP TReACY, MY LIVER, MY MOLE, MY PEARLS, MY WIGS, MY TOBACCO CIGS, MY FIGS.” Seriously. Here’s the column:

Art is a lie. And every day I kill to make it true. It is my destiny to exist halfway between reality and fantasy at all times. They call me “theatrical,” but I posit profusely that I am theatre, and that theatre is me. I am a show with no intermission. It is this thing that summons me from the depths of reality and reminds me that the power of transformation is endless. That I (we) possess something magical and transformative inside —  a uniqueness and specialness waiting to be exiled from the depths of our identity. I have said before that I am a master of escapism, which many attribute to my wigs, performances, and my natural inclination to be grand, but perhaps that is also a lie. Maybe I am not escaping. Maybe I am just being. Being myself.

The arrival at this revelation revises my previous escapist philosophies, as my entire being, thus far, as wholly artist and wholly human, has been propelled by the idea that I must effortlessly vacillate between two worlds: out of the real and into the surreal. Out of the ordinary, into the extraordinary.

“I DON’T SPEAK GERMAN BUT I CAN IF YOU LIKE.”

But as I delved quite deeply into this topic for my current album, I’ve reckoned that perhaps there is no pendulum. No need to distinguish between artifice and consciousness.

The “notion” of escapism may be a lie, but for some of us this lie is our truth. You must desire the reality of fantasy so profusely that it becomes necessity, not accessory.

The lines for myself have become so blurred now, I know not the difference between a moment of performance and a moment of honesty. If you were to ask me to remove my Philip Treacy hat at a party, in truth it is the emotional and physical equivalent of requesting I remove my liver. Talk about giving “clutching her pearls” a new meaning! I know not the difference between the hair that grows from my head and the teal wigs that grow from my imagination. They are the same. They are both honest, and always have been. So maybe I know nothing of “the art of escapism.” I was just Born This Way. I revere the dream to be real. I am always, and shall forever be, private in public.

In this lies one of many books in the Bible of Fashion: in order for the FANTASY OF YOU to become the REALITY OF YOU, you must commit to the fantasy as wholeheartedly as you commit to your humanness. Wear out your vision. Proclaim your mission. Amen, Fashion! Style can transform and release your internal superstar. Whether it be one pair of shoes, some vintage sunglasses, a family heirloom, or a hair color that makes you feel as electric on the outside as you do on the inside. Acknowledge that this choice is a manifestation of an internal magic and the potential of your spirit. You are fan-tas-tic. And this fantasy is part of the real and honest you. It is a lie inside, waiting to be unlocked to become true. Scheiße. I just spoke some German.

[From Lady Gaga’s second column for V Magazine]

Her art is life and her life is art. She’s all about the image, the superficiality of the thing rather than the substance of the thing, and she thinks that by being solely about the superficiality, she lends it, and herself, substance, because she deems is ART. It makes for good photos, and increasingly bad music. But, as we now know, it’s not about the music. It’s about the ART of the music, the image of the music. It’s not enough to be a pop star. You have to be seen as being a pop star. All of this is ART.

So full of herself – just go away

  2. MollyB says:

    Wow. That’s so deep. *yawn*

  3. Tigger says:

    *Sigh*. Just go away.

  4. XIOnce says:

    *Yawn*

  5. Buffy Wilson says:

God, I can’t stand this broad.

  6. LisaMarie says:

How does she not melt into a puddle wearing that stuff in this weather? It has got to be ridiculously nasty under that pvc(?) outfit!

  7. BeckyR says:

She full of crap. Her insane philosophy is just that: insane. Get some meds, girl.

  8. PontNeuf says:

All of Lady Gaga’s contrived actions, pretentious declarations and desperate posing can be resumed into a few phrases: “Mum, look at me! I’m on the telly being totally outrageous! I bet my cousins and the girls who didn’t like me at school are so jealous right now!”.

It was amusing in a silly, attention-starved-ugly-duckling sort of way in the beginning. Now it is just downright pathetic.

Someone should tell Gaga that others have done it before with more conviction, applomb, intelligence, personality and talent, and she is just a clumsy mish mash of ideas stolen from them.

  9. Laura says:

I hate that stupid monster pose.

  10. Turtle Dove says:

    Officially OVER this one.

Notice how she’s not superficial about the money she’s raking in from all the circular art/life nonsense. I guess it isn’t worth mentioning in her art/life/transformative/theatrical 5 year plan.

  11. mia girl says:

Gaga is so effin delusional she is two columns away from looking into a toilet and espousing poetry about the incredible artistry of her bowel movements.

“As it floated in a warm cocoon, I saw truth as I never had. By letting it go, I let an essential part of myself go. While some may say “I am relieving myself”, I say NO! There is no relief in losing the rich paste that is my artistic soul. I see as no others CAN and therein lies MY one basic truth: My pursuit of art will always drive me to be full of shit.”

  12. Blue says:

@LisaMarie, that’s a good question. That must be foul.
Is she ever “off” I mean why does she always have to be like that. I get it’s her “style” but can’t she just calm it down a bit. Wear her own hair, wear clothes that actually cover. Just once.
I hope her time is almost up I can’t take anymore of her. Never was a fan, but dislike her more and more everyday.

  13. stacie says:

“Art is the lie that tells the truth”- Pablo Picasso

  14. gee says:

Lady Gaga is the anti-art. There is nothing art about her. Anyone who knows any thing about art knows this.

  15. Athena says:

    All of this is CRAP.
I had no concrete opinion of Gaga, I could’ve cared less either way, but now I really dislike her and just want her to take her over hyped self and go away.

ETA- Thanks for that quote Stacie I thought the title quote sounded familiar. What a phony she is! Ugh. She is just trying so hard to sound smart.

  16. Kelly says:

I know other critics and such have commented on this, but her music is danceable, pleasant, and… that’s about it. Nothing revolutionary about it; so for me there has always been a disconnect between her persona (and her revolutionary proclamations) and her music.

Klaus Nomi, on the other hand – there was a major, masterful performance artist and a visionary. Some say Gaga rips him off, but her music is too conventional to be… Nomian?

  17. marianne says:

she wears that junk because she’s not comfortable being herself. Pretty ironic that she wrote “born this way” when she hides the way she was bord all the time

  18. Swan Hakka says:

Gaga is retarded and every day I ignore her to make it true. The fame clock is ticking, Gaga, and your time is nearly up.

  19. Quest says:

“Her Art is life and her life is Art”….”Art is a lie that makes you realize the truth” – So:

    life = Art = lies
    Art = Music = lies
    Music = Art = Lies
Art = Lie = Truth Realization according to Picasso
Gaga + Music = Idiot (my true realization)

    And that’s the Truth

  20. annaloo says:

As an artist, I wish I had half of the commitment and force lady gaga shows. I settled for a safe corporate commercial art production job, and always wonder what I could have been had I not restricted myself and cared so much about the dollar.

I think the weirder she is, the better. I know she sounds crazy and annoying to others, but she makes absolute sense to me.

  21. Liz says:

Too bad she’s actually an incredibly talented singer and piano player but all of this tawdry excess distracts from that…

  22. Lily says:

Art is not a lie. But how can she know that? What she does is not art. She’s just another ephemeral diva in the music industry who will dissappear as soon as people start to get tired of her. She’s a clown. A superficial, pretencious, talentless clown.

  23. the original bellaluna says:

She is so f’ing stupid. Could someone please fit her with a censor? Or just disappear her away?

  24. RHONYC says:

she did a fantastic & super long interview with Howard this morning (like almost TWO hrs!).

i enjoyed the few songs she performed as well. can’t wait to watch it tonight on HowardTV.

love the super sweet story about her grandparents behind ‘Edge of Glory’.

    that was a gem. 😉

    p.s. – @ annaloo

ditto on everything you said. i feel Gaga awakens a dormant bravery in myself as an artist who works as a paper jockey for the health benefits instead of pursuing my art. she makes me wanna change that.

  25. Jaded says:

Dear God she’s tiresome, I’m so sick of her pontificating like she’s the second coming or something. She’s utterly derivative, unoriginal and uninteresting.

  26. jen says:

    “Cocaine’s a helluva drug.”

  27. bluhare says:

Art is in the eye of the beholder. It might be a lie, or it might not. Depends on whether it’s upside down or not. 🙂

I like her. She’s like this decade’s Boy George. Hope she doesn’t end up like him. She’s not particularly original, but she works her ass off.

  28. MaiGirl says:

I think Gaga’s issues begin and end with how young she is and how fast fame came. Youth often thinks of itself as more significant and ground breaking than it actually is–that’s just youthful narcissism at work. She is talented, and SHE CAN ACTUALLY SING LIVE(!!!), but she would do well to take herself at least 50% less seriously. I mean, she should spend at least half her time outside of her own sphincter.

  29. curleque says:

A true artist, whose exclusive medium is bullsh*t.

  30. gg says:

😆 @ mia girl and jen! lmao

Gaga sums up my feelings about the total BS that is fashion. Nonsensical gobbledygook that doesn’t matter.

  31. Kelly says:

I agree that she is extremely talented – I feel my previous comment did not make that clear. However, her music IS conventional, not avant garde.

  32. The Truth Fairy says:

At first I liked her. Then I was annoyed by her. Now I really HATE her. GO AWAY!

  33. Jag says:

Is it art or lies to copy/steal so many things now, Gaga? The latest is doing Bette Midler’s “mermaid in a wheelchair.” Gaga got called out on it, too, by Bette herself on Twitter.

  34. lucy2 says:

Agree, Maigirl, especially about her not taking herself so seriously. At the end of the day, she is a commercial popstar, who, while she can sing and has some catchy songs, has not produced anything musically that is all that ground breaking or unique.
I don’t think it’s ever wise to put oneself on such a high pedestal.

  35. Lady D says:

    “Get some meds, girl.”
    Bears repeating.

  36. Lady D says:

@Jag, I saw that about Bette Middler. I’m glad Bette said (twittered) something, she’s awesome. I wonder if Gaga will answer her or accuse her of lying.

  37. jay says:

this is why no one has given an over dramatic theater kid money before

  38. It makes perfect sense..That explains half of Hollywood, and reality tv stars.

  39. GradStudentEatingHotPockets says:

What I would do to just open up her brain (not literally) and see exactly what she’s thinking when she says and does this crazy shit. You know it’s either delusional (as in she truly believes this shit) or she’s like “Ha, idiots. I’m going to make a couple more million from this interview because the peasants will be eating this up!”

I mean seriously. I just want to know!

  40. Stubbylove says:

She’s SO DEEP – like a kiddy pool.

    @Jen: “Cocaine’s a helluva drug.” LOL!!!

@TheTruthFairy: I’m right with ya on that.

  41. teehee says:

Way behind and below it all, you can get a whiff of some kind of sense out of the importance of being yourself and finding your identity and honesty of expression. All the fashion stuff and egosims and her music, too, dont seem to honor that same depth of a notion of hers, but, if that is her calling, as it is Posh’s to be all about fashion and posing and superficiality and vanity, then kudos for being true to her calling and for realizing the severity of being so true (false? lol).
Und ich kann auch schon viel mehr Deutsch sprechen als die Gaga. LOL

edit: and you dont have to be an artist to do that! It has nothing to do with art exclusively and everything to do with being a unique soul with a unique path to fulfill.

  42. Melancholy says:

She’s a much larger grade of douche than I originally guessed. She needs to shut the f up.

Edit to add: So extremely well said, Lily at 22!

  43. RHONYC says:

    @ bluhare

i LOOOOVED Boy George & Culture Club in middle school!!!

1st wanted to marry Boy (don’t say it…i know, lol).

then, i ‘wanted to BE Cyndi Lauper!!!

they were so inspiring to me back then. 😉

  44. i.want.shoes says:

Gaga: “I am a show with no intermission”

Yeah, well, we could use a break. I quit reading halfway through because it was like verbal diarrhea

  45. machiavelli says:

Reminds me of my university days. There is always a group of pseudo-intellectuals who talks ‘art’ and ‘factual’ and ‘existential’ …… The quiche crowd, we used to call them. Bloody nonsense!

  46. michael bays comb over says:

    good point marianne!

  47. MarenGermany says:

“she wears that junk because she’s not comfortable being herself. Pretty ironic that she wrote “born this way” when she hides the way she was bord all the time ”

    @ marianne
    thank you. perfect sum up.

Lady Gaga is SO talented (she really is), if I had only one advise for her it would be
“stop the effing coke and be yourself. You are perfect the way you are.”
She proclaims exactly that shit again and again without following through.

She is not god, and thinks she has to fullfill this role. You dont have to, baby.

She is too young, all that comes out of her mouth are used up phrases. nothing more. nothing with real substance.
Make music, enlighten us with it.
Dont be such a try hard. you dont need too.

Ich frage mich, ob du das übersetzen kannst, wenn du denkst, du kannst deutsch sprechen. Ich fürchte, alles nur bla bla bla.

  48. Riana says:

Found most of it excessive, much of it overly theatric, some of it quite wise and even one point I agree with entirely: You have to make the fantasy of you the reality of you.

I think I understand where she’s coming from and who her real target audience is. Fairly smart of her actually.

  49. teehee says:

MarenGermany– mit wem redest du da– Gaga oder ich? LOL

  50. Susan says:

    Just die already….

  51. newtsgal says:

    Wait a minute!
This chick is claiming it’s her art, when everything she does has already been done and now she steals quotes from dead artist. Then today I heard that she is trying to call “The Mermaid in a wheelchair” her idea…..B*tch please!!!! You could never pull that off with as much class as the Divine Miss M!!
And shame on you for trying, you talentless hack!

  52. antisara says:

Die already, witch! at this point pulling a brit-esque derriere flash wouldn’t win you more monsters. There comes a time, kaka, when you gotta realize your 15 minutes of fame are over, GET OFF THE DISCO STICK ALREADY!

  53. Jana says:

One day she spouts everything she does is about art and now all art is a lie. Get off the coke, Gaga. Your most brilliant album of the decade (so you declared) is just okay.

  54. james says:

    like the tiffany taylor wig.
god this chick is a contrived bore. just desperate and empty.

  55. Jana says:

Oh, Goddess of Pop, please come back and show Gaga what true brilliance is.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbpuQaSfnfI

  56. filthycute says:

    Shut. Up.

  57. Callumna says:

Fraud. If she were real, she’d have one idea of her own first.

How come Adele can just stand, sing her own songs, and move people with her inner spirit? Tis the fraud who wears the wig and the 13 year old misfits who don’t know a sham when they see one that have helped her reach minute 14. I wish her well and a long retirement. Sickness on display is a celebrity schtick that’s nearly over.

  58. original kate says:

people who are truly artistic do not have to try to convince everyone else that they are artistic.

  59. Cherry Rose says:

Sometimes it’s better to be seen and not heard, though I’d love it if I didn’t have to see Gaga nor hear her idiotic statements.

I know she’s being uber pretentious and extremely full of herself now, but what many of you don’t see is that she was always like this, even when she began. It just wasn’t so apparent because she was just starting out and trying not to alienate people from being her fans.

Funny how she says she’s just being herself. If that was true, there would be no call for all the attention Gaga needs to have on herself. She’s obviously very insecure and very fame hungry with the way she dresses and talks about issues.

If you notice, every topic always comes back to her, even when it is not asked.

  60. UKHels says:

Gaga, you’re a tryhard who’s admittedly made a couple of jolly pop songs but come on!

  61. 4Real says:

She’s so manufactured now it’s gross!

  62. Boo says:

I’m not a Gaga fan (though I love that she, too, owns Great Danes), but I thought her interview with Howard and her performance on his show were both pretty great. I was listening with my 2 of my kids (ages 15 and 17) and wanted to hug her when she said teenagers and even people in their early twenties should not be having sex…they are too young to know real intimacy of that kind. You go, girl.

  63. the truth says:

Can she pull her foot out of her mouth already? Dear Stephanie, your shit stinks just like every body else. She went to the same school as Paris Hilton. She acts like she didn’t have connections, and was poor. She was manufactured and created just like all the rest of those pop stars. Just another brick in the wall. I bet she just loves being a gear in the machine.

  64. Camille says:

Good grief. Tedious is right. What a wannabe try hard.

  65. hatsumomo says:

    UKHels, seconded!

  66. DeeVine says:

So talented? Songs are bad 80s rip offs. (Edge of Glory sounds like a song missing from the soundtrack of St Elmo’s fire sung by Laura Brannigan) Style copied from Madonna, Grace Jones, even Bette Midler. She has to constantly remind people that this is all “art” which shows it is not art at all! She will run out of gimmicks soon and hopefully disappear forever!

  67. Cakes says:

I couldnt get thru the article. The first line of her quote was enough to make me go “ugh! this bitch!” I wish she would shut her face and go away.

  68. Karen says:

Talk about over rated ego trips. Who believes that crap she spouts?
Art-an egg? Please. More like bad acid trip.

  69. Amanda G says:

She’s crazy, but she’s fabulous. Love her music and I wish she’d focus more on that. She looks great in that leather get-up.

  70. Andie B says:

    original kate: I SO agree.
The woman is ‘off her nut’ as we say in my country. If she isn’t on meds she should be. It’s a lovely sentiment that she thinks everyone can be ‘fantastic’ but there is nothing fantastic about being self absorbed and shallow. I’m glad my girl is too young to want to be like her.

  71. DethHammer says:

Gaga’s “art” is the art of projecting the illusion of freedom.

She claims artistic proprietorship over her life (which is “art” which is life, blah blah blah); meanwhile she’s in a lucrative 360 deal with Interscope Records and its parent Universal Music Group and its parent, the monster conglomerate Vivendi, which once owned part of France’s utilities. A 360 deal is where the artist must give the company a percentage of all of their income, including sales of recorded music, live performances and any other income. Basically, the record label (and the conglomerate therein) owns an artist’s likeness, touring, publishing, and record royalties.

Also, her manager (who helped launch Will Smith’s career) Troy Carter, is launching a social network called Backplane which will feature technology MORE intrusive than pinging (Gaga owns 20% of the venture).

    Yes, very “free” indeed.

The only thing Gaga “kills” is actual truth.

And lest anyone think I’m too “normal” to “understand” Gaga, I am an artist who is currently trying to design “syringe glasses”, which make it look like the syringe is injecting into your eyeballs 🙂

  72. DethHammer says:

Here are Bette Midler’s Tweets calling out Gaga on stealing her wheelchair mermaid bit:

“I’m not sure @ladygaga knows that I’ve performed my mermaid in a wheelchair for millions of people — and many of them are still alive…..”
    15 Jul

“Dear @ladygaga if you think a mermaid in a wheelchair seems familiar-it’s because it is!You can see it on youtube 24/7-with ME performing it”
    16 Jul

“Dear @ladygaga Ive been doing singing mermaid in a wheelchair since 1980-You can keep the meat dress and the firecracker tits-mermaid’s mine”
    16 Jul

    http://twitter.com/#!/bettemidler

    Way to go Bette!

However, her latest Tweet seems to affirm that Gaga’s corporate goons have gotten to Ms M, cause she then tweets: “@ladygaga, let’s drink this over at the Emmys in September. Fabulous mermaids can coexist!”

Bette was either paid off or more likely, Gaga’s rabid Little Cultists bullied Bette’s manager or PR team online. And in case you think I’m being facetious about Gaga’s fans being bullies, just ask both Katy Perry and Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney and the Twitter Wars that erupted when Perry posted a pic of herself planking under a bridge dressed as a mermaid, and when Carney jokingly called Gaga “Madonna” on his personal Twitter.

  73. jover says:

WIth everyone above; esp. turtledove art may be whatever but the money she’s raking in is certainly real; these aren’t even intelligent interesting comments just random ejaculations from an ephermeral ego and they have the significance of a pimple on a gnat’s backside. And yes truth anyone at this late date that doesn’t know her real background and how contrived she is is as delusional as Lady xerox. For all her pretentiousness she is a tiresomely vapid empty human being an unformed or half-formed personality being devoured by the media saturated world she initially used to her advantage. Your comment cherry rose is spot on; has she ever told a good story of life on the road with the “band.” No, because she would have to acknowledge someone else.

  74. Juliesunflower says:

@gee I totally agree. She knows nothing about art and because she knows nothing, she is spewing all these balderwash – pure nonesense.

  75. AlexC says:

The entire article is nonsensical. I can’t believe the people at V published this.

  76. DethHammer says:

“I know not the difference between the hair that grows from my head and the teal wigs that grow from my imagination.”

You mean the teal wigs that you simply PURCHASED??

Apparently, Gaga’s idea of making “art” is:
    (1) having a general idea in her head (that she most likely copied from another performance artist/pop star) and then paying ACTUAL artists to do all the actual work of designing and creating it (it might be just as well; I’ve seen her sketches and they look like an 8 year old drew them)
    and
    (2) simply picking out a designer’s (or wigmaker’s) ready-made work.

By this definition, anyone with enough money can do “art” LOL

  77. Suzie says:

She sounds like an ego-maniac on drugs. She is overdoing the living out your fantasy thing. It is looking more adolescent the older she gets. she should retire from music and take up fashion design, though what target market I couldn’t imagine.

  78. Anoni Mus says:

Heh. I always like to picture her, getup and all, stranded in the middle of the jungle or the desert or in a god-forsaken squalid third world village where nobody gives a damn about her “art”. To experience how her true self=art schmart schtick fares in the real world.
She’s just way too full of herself, and needs to learn some good old fashioned humility.

  79. gobo says:

    tw*t.

  80. Jana says:

    @Dethhammer, this was too funny:

“I know not the difference between the hair that grows from my head and the teal wigs that grow from my imagination.”

Dethhammer’s response: You mean the teal wigs that you simply PURCHASED??

  81. Eve says:

I swear people will have to hold me back if I ever meet this broad in person.

I’m tiny (5’2″ and around 100 lbs) but I think more than three people will be needed for the task.

  82. jover says:

Thanks for the background info this is the problem with these pop stars they are completely corporate creations but to admit that openly to their deluded fans would shatter the fantasy and end the money train so they take on all these artsy fartsy “controversial” poses as a diversion.I agree alexc but what choice do these fashion/cultural type mags have; the great majority of todays celebutards/pop stars are uneducated not worldly experienced twits V’s choice is to ignore her and let some other mag get some additional sales or feature her and try to salvage something from the gibberish.

  83. bluhare says:

@RHONYC: I still want to be Cyndi Lauper!

  84. Bill Hicks is God says:

“I know not the difference…” Okay, madam, you don’t speak German but your fluency in Twat is coming along just marvellously.

  85. DethHammer says:

@Bill Hicks, that was an awesome comment! Yes, she is very fluent in Twat teehee

@Jover I hope I helped provide you with some additional background info on Gaga’s corporate connections.

Her mother, Cynthia Bissett-Germanotta, was an exec at Verizon and her father, Joe Germanotta was formerly President of Global Touch, Inc., a business development company providing strategic planning, target marketing and financial services to the telecommunications and technology industries. He also created telecom giant Guest WiFi, which provided free wifi for major hotel chains. Joe owns half of Gaga’s businesses and he (not Gaga herself) owns her publishing label House of Gaga Publishing, Inc.

I also recommend the site Web of Deception ( http://webofdeception.com/ladygaga ) where you can read the 19 page lawsuit filed against her (and it lists her as living in Los Angeles), a tax lien on Gaga and also the fact that Joe lists ALL of his business addresses as his home address (which is a single residential condo unit); kind of specious.

@Jana, why thank you 🙂 Her expository grandstanding and proclamations of mass hyperbole are classic signs of cocaine abuse.

I disagree. I hated her stuff circa The Fame, liked it a little better around Fame Monster, and actually like the Born This Way era the best.

    Well done, Mia! Expert execution!

Wow, dethhammer interesting stuff; I realize we are ages from jimi, janis and the hippies at woodstock, but this is corporate profiteering through “music.” Is there anyone that would have the cojones to investigate all this financial chicanery. Wasn’t she on 60 minutes – no hard hitting questions just another celeb puff piece.

Go to towleroad.com and listen to her sing “Edge of Glory” in Howard’s studio with just a piano. Say whatever you want to about her…..the girl can sing. I looked the album version up on iTunes and it SUCKED. Her live acoustic version is breathtaking.

The interview was indeed awesome. Howard is the man and I am so glad that she did the interview and was real.

And guess what? I was not a fan until I heard her on Howard Monday morning.

*yawn* Wake me when her 15 minutes are completely up.

  91. DethHammer says:

LOL @Val, are you trying to “convert” us, like many other of her Little Cultist, I mean Monster, fans? 🙂 I’ve already seen and heard many of her live performances on YouTube and TV, including her Stern performance of The Edge of Glory. I never said she couldn’t sing well live; however, she isn’t -consistent- with singing well live, which is weird.

  92. Cindy says:

    Lady GaGa,

You are talented. The arrangements in your songs are proof positive. And, I think many of your fellow contenders don’t know anything about music at all, they are just singing meat puppets. However, I don’t understand why you latched onto this persona of “mother monster” stuff. It’s old. And, ever since you have been wearing bizarre outfits, or no outfits at all, you like leave me perplexed. You are talented enough to not need all those silly trappings. Watch out because you could end up being the biggest joke in pop music. So, wear something pretty for a change, or go buy yourself some jeans and a t-shirt, or something. It’s ok to be yourself. I’m saying this because I love ya. Think about that story, The Emporers Clothes. Yes, I am telling you what to do.

  93. TheTangerineMan says:

She uses the words “lie” and “truth” so many times that both words basically become meaningless. She just doesn’t know how to articulate whatever idea is in her head and seems to believe that whatever she writes is instantly brilliant and deep. Being really really obscure and general with important terms in her writing is often called “bad.” Maybe she should go back to college to learn how to write.
