Fantasia Barrino will claim she’s going into early labor if you criticize her

wenn3381881

As you probably remember, Fantasia Barrino is pregnant. The father is her on-again (never off, actually) married lover, Antwaun Cook. As far as I know, Antwaun and Paula Cook’s divorce is still being finalized, so Antwaun isn’t even really single right now, much less when he conceived this baby with Fantasia. But that’s nothing new – Antwaun and Fantasia have been having an affair for several years now, and she was also pregnant with his baby last year – she had an abortion that time.

Last week, Page Six had an interesting story about another long-gestating project for Fantasia – apparently, she was cast in the lead role in a bio-pic about gospel singer Mahalia Jackson. Producers of the film are pissed off that Fantasia didn’t tell them about her pregnancy sooner, and Mahalia Jackson’s family is pissed off that an abortion-havin’, unmarried, pregnant homewrecker is going to be playing the beloved Queen of Gospel.

Members of legendary gospel singer Mahalia Jackson’s estate are aghast that 2004 “American Idol” winner Fantasia Barrino has become pregnant by a married man as she prepares to play the Queen of Gospel in the biographical film “Mahalia!”

Producers are also furious with Fantasia, 27, for not telling them about her unexpected pregnancy until she was four months in. “She [initially] claimed that she was putting on weight for the role,” an insider said.

Production of the movie has been pushed back because of Fantasia’s pregnancy with her married boyfriend, Antwaun Cook.

“The family thinks if Fantasia plays the role, it’s going to sully the name of Mahalia,” executive producer Adrian Taylor told us. “They think she’s got the wrong image, having a child out of wedlock.”

Barrino’s pregnancy has also caused chaos with scheduling conflicts because filming has been delayed until after her due date on Dec. 27. Director Euzhan Palcy may be forced to drop out of the project. Producers are now scrambling to finish the movie by fall 2012. Barrino has been asked to start filming as soon as January and is in negotiations to alter her contract to allow time for breast-feeding and nurturing her child on set. In the meantime, producers are working to find a replacement if Barrino doesn’t agree to start shooting after New Year’s. Missy Elliott has been suggested. Because of the unexpected bump, the film’s budget has been increased from $23 million to $27 million.

Dino Gankendorff, who represents Mahalia Jackson’s estate, told us, “I’m not really aware of any objections that the heirs have to the casting of Fantasia. I understand that they were getting ready to film and that she is pregnant, and I don’t know who is she pregnant by.”

Barrino’s rep said, “This is the first time I’ve heard about this. I have no comment.”

So, magically, Fantasia called in to the Wendy Williams show yesterday to do some damage control. ‘Tasia revealed the sex of her baby, and her due date, but she didn’t want to talk about Antwaun. She did want to talk about how the Mahalia Jackson report “almost” made her go into labor. Now don’t you feel bad for calling her a homewrecker?

Fantasia Barrino has revealed the sex of her baby – and that she’s due Dec. 29.

“I’m having a boy. I’m at home, I’m on bed rest right now,” she said Tuesday in a phone interview on The Wendy Williams Show.

Barrino – already mother to a daughter Zion, 9 – still has not spoken about the baby’s father, but the singer has most recently been romantically linked to Antwaun Cook. Their relationship made headlines last summer after his divorce from Paula Cook was linked to his affair with Barrino, 27.

“I’m not gonna talk about that,” she told Williams when pushed to discuss any relationship with Cook.

Williams asked the question after reports surfaced that family members of the late gospel singer Mahalia Jackson, whom Barrino was set to play in a upcoming biopic, were angry with Barrino because she is allegedly pregnant with a married man’s baby.

“I almost went into labor, because it was the first time that I’ve heard anything about that,” Barrino said of hearing the report. “Haven’t spoken to the family yet, haven’t heard anything from the family, so that was my first time hearing anything about it.”

Barrino does respond to one rumor, however: That she caused trouble for the film because she neglected to tell producers she was pregnant.

“There were no contracts signed, and there was no set date and time,” she says of possibly starring in the film. She also says she hasn’t heard from the producers recently, but that she had studied Jackson’s life and her singing in order to work on her portrayal. “I began to gain the weight, I began to study her,” Barrino said. “And then they called us back in January and said the investors had backed out. So they were waiting on investors.”

She added, “I wanted to make the family proud, and most of all, I wanted to make Mahalia Jackson proud – and my fans and everyone who’s been following me.”

[From People]

I don’t cover Fantasia that often, but whenever I do, it always takes me a second to get a handle on how much of an idiot she is, and how she only surrounds herself with enabling, sycophantic morons too. Her publicist always throws questions back to the Lord, like a reporter is going to get Jesus on the line for a confirmation (“Is ‘Tasia a crazy homewrecker?” Jesus: “Yep.”) And Fantasia is just so… ugh. Like, she thinks she’s being clever and playing us all for sympathy, when really she just seems really petty and dumb. Oh, we can’t ask questions about your upcoming film because you may go into early labor! Bitch, please. Worst denial ever.

UPDATE: Now here’s a denial!

The producers behind the upcoming Mahalia Jackson biopic say they’re embarrassed over statements made by financial backer Adrian Taylor to Page Six about Jackson’s family not wanting a pregnant Fantasia Barrino to play the legendary gospel singer in the movie. Double Dutch Productions issued a statement on Tuesday saying Taylor, a financing broker, “didn’t have authority to speak on the film’s behalf” and “is not an employee of this production company … The Mahalia Jackson family has not made any negative comments, none whatsoever, about Ms. Barrino and her participation in this film project.” Taylor had told us production had been delayed because of Fantasia’s unexpected pregnancy.

So… Mahalia Jackson’s family isn’t upset with Fantasia? WHY NOT? God, this film is going to be a mess, right?

    Terrible human being.
I do find it amusing that she was cast to play a gospel singer with all of her indiscretions.

  2. the original bellaluna says:

Claim away, bitch. I’m calling you on your BS. Lord knows, somebody needs to!

(I don’t think she’ll end up doing the movie. I think they’ll either cast someone else or it’ll never get made.)

  3. mel says:

My thoughts exactly. There are so many other talented singers and they picked her. Maybe they will re-think this and cast someone else.

  4. lucy2 says:

I wouldn’t blame the family at ALL if they were upset with this casting and the problems.
Why don’t they just recast? Surely there’s someone out there who could do a fine job, probably better than Fantasia, who I can’t imagine being a great actress.
She is such a mess. I feel sorry for all the kids involved in this situation.

  5. Redheadwriter says:

No love for ‘Tasia at all here. But I find it interesting that the Jackson family was OK with her before they found out she was pregnant … AND she already has one child “out of wedlock.”

  6. corey says:

The film is going to be a hot mess, much like her life. Between her and Speidi, I get a facepalm in at least every two weeks. *facepalm*

  7. Jayna says:

When all her drama happened last year plus her new album coming out, I happened to read good reviews and saw it was selling good. I didn’t own her other music. It piqued my interest, so I bought it. I have to say it’s fantastic if you love old school R & B, which I do. Her drama overshadows real talent.

  8. the original bellaluna says:

Redhead – Maybe it’s because this is not a “teenage indiscretion” and/or baby daddy is a married dude she’s been boffing (while he was/is still married) for years and/or she had an abortion last year (baby daddy being said married dude) and claimed “miscarriage!”

    Nope. Nothing hinky there.

  9. neelyo says:

Please somebody have her on their talk show so they can ask her a hard question! Seeing her go into fake labor sounds hilarious.

Poor thing is dumb as the day is long.

  10. Dawn says:

Thank you A.I for bringing this scummy person into the public eye. Ish, just ish. Nothing attractive about her, she doesn’t have that good of a voice and she is just so ugly on the inside.

  11. Kelly says:

Can I just say that she’s one unfortunate-looking lady?

  12. Judy says:

Can’t believe I was initially a fan when she won AI.

  13. Lisa says:

    I CAN’T with Fanny anymore!!!

The ONLY reason the family came out with that denial is because they didn’t want to upset the “legion” of Fanny’s fans who co-sign on her HORRIBLE B.S.!!!

I gave up on Fanny YEARS ago when I saw how unprofessional she was while on Broadway with the “Color Purple”…and to find out the reason she was missing so many shows was because she was laid up under a trife-life MARRIED man whose WIFE WAS PREGNANT at the time…

    I. Just. Can. Not.

  14. januaries says:

As a mother who actually went into early labor, nearly lost my child, spent 4 months in the NICU with him and am still dealing with the consequences of his early birth six years later, I can not say FU enough to this woman. Premature birth is a VERY serious matter and should not be taken lightly. What a beast.

  15. Jackson says:

If I was Mahalia Jackson’s family I would be upset.

  16. spinner says:

    Ugly. Ignorant. Disgusting.

  17. Brandymc1980 says:

Can’t stand her…she annoys me beyond words.

  18. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

A huge amount of biopics are fairly terrible on their own, the identity of the crappy person starring in said terrible film is almost immaterial. Where one tacky star falls another will always rise and this isn’t any different from where I’m sitting. Moral misconduct means nothing in Hollywood until the family finds out and litigation ensues and an estate can only hold on to a legacy for so long before it kind of slips into the public domain. You may have lived the life but the free for all comes after. Seems cynical.

  19. Truthful says:

    she is sadly…very ignorant–verrrrry

he no longer works so, she will fork over ailimony and support for the 2 kids from his wife.

    she is an embarrassment.

  20. Jaana says:

Kaiser, when you post on black women you are deceptively nasty. What did black women do to you? Or its the persons that read the blogs you are trying to please? Cuz they are very racist too. I mean…

  21. Becky says:

I know this may sound strange, but I actually feel sorry for her in a way. I think she’s not very bright and as a result has been unable to use her talent as a ticket away from the trashiness she grew up with.

  22. tsktsk says:

@becky…I agree. It sounds weird but I do feel sorry for her. I am in no way making her a victim or acting like she doesn’t bring most of this stuff on herself. But, she is clearly not all the way there. I mean, she was raped as a child and then told by her deadbeat dad that it was her fault for wearing short dresses. Can you imagine the kind of issues she have, not only with men? And, her ghetto family doesn’t help either. Just like Britney, leeches are all surrounded around her and everybody want a piece. That man wouldn’t have looked once at Fantasia if she didn’t have money. He see it as his come up. And, having the issues that she have, she probably really believe he loves her. smdh. But, she is also a grown woman who should have gotten the help she needed a long time ago. I mostly feel bad for her daughter b/c this is a cycle that will continue unless someone can save that child and the one on the way.

  23. Genevieve says:

she had all the opportunities in the world and PISSED it away

such a waste of talent because her voice use to give me chills

  24. JaneWonderfalls says:

She looks so funky to me…lol. I like Fantasia and I do believe she is a bit slow and she has horrible people representing her. But girlfriend just looks like she smells.

  25. JaneWonderfalls says:

@Jaana You could be on to something, I have a thing to loathe most celebrities anyway regardless of race, but it does seem like most of the comments and articles are usually saying I don’t waste much time on this person and they usually are black like Nicki Minaj and etc. But if you run a blog you have to appease most of the people who read it. Blacks are a minority in life and in Hollywood so hey I just comment on how and what I see fit. I don’t think it’s racial to much though 🙂

  26. I Choose Me says:

Her? Playing Mahalia Jackson. I don’t care about her home-wrecking drama I’m just pissed that they picked her to play Mahalia. I grew up listening to Mahalia Jackson and Fantasia’s vocal range is nothing like Mahalia’s. Now I’m not saying Fantasia isn’t talented in her own way but bitch can’t act and I can think of a dozen other black female singers that should have been chosen instead of her. What about Angie Stone or Jill Scott. Jill has acting chops and I think her vocals are strong enough to do justice to Mahalia’s songs. Damn. I don’t know why this news has upset me so but it has. Harumph!

  27. the original bellaluna says:

januaries – I hope your little one is well and thriving.

  28. Annie_Grey says:

Mahalia was one of a kind. No actress is going to live up to that, let alone Fantasia.

  29. Michelle says:

She gives us North Carolinians a bad name. Even though she is black, she is nothing but poor white trash.

  30. januaries says:

Thank you, Bellaluna. He is, but extreme prematurity is a very, very bad thing, and will most likely affect him in some way or another for the rest of his life. That’s why BS like this makes me so angry!

  31. Amazon says:

I was a fan of Fantasias since American Idol, but why is girlfriend living so reckless?? If you are going to have an affair with a married man, is there no way that you can keep it discreet???!! I mean go to a motel that has ten-fifthteen floors and 200 rooms, that way no one really knows what room he is going to, but to be seen in public 2gether, that is just dumb and again reckless!! And to “alledgedly” have an abortion one year, and decide to keep the next one the following year, what is that about??? Should of just kept the other baby too!!!!!!!!!! I think this situation with him will ruin her career. Actually, they should both disappear from public! I am serious!!!!! Any yes, the role should be recast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Angie Stone, and the others that were mentioned above should be considered!

  32. Shannon says:

I don’t understand how Fantasia continues to get work. She’s always such a train wreck. I know she has the talent component, but her personal baggage always seems to get all drama-filled and overshadow her work. She just doesn’t portray a professional image at all.

  33. the original bellaluna says:

januaries – My dear friend of over 20 years had a premie, and while she has required speech therapy, she is doing very, very well. Keep up the hope, I will keep you in good thoughts, and hopefully all will be well.

Yes, things like this (claiming “premature labour” or “spousal abuse” when it is patently untrue) infuriate me.
