‘Wanderlust’ trailer: wherein Justin Theroux tells Jennifer Aniston to “flick the tip”

I feel like Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston have worked together a million times before, but it just seems that way, right? In reality, they only did The Object of My Affection (where he played a gay dude and she was his BFF), and now they’re playing a married couple in Wanderlust. The trailer has just come out – it’s not bad. I smiled a few times, and thankfully, it doesn’t look like the standard-issue romantic comedies that Aniston usually gets involved with, now the standard-issue sausage-fests that Paul Rudd is usually involved with. The basic story is: neurotic New York power-couple has to move out of city when Rudd’s character loses his job. Stuff happens and they end up in a hippie-dippy commune of nudists, druggies, farmers, etc. Chaos ensues. This is also the movie where Aniston met Justin Theroux (who had a girlfriend at the time). Justin actually gave me the biggest laugh with “flick the tip”.

It’s doesn’t look bad at all, although there might be reason to worry because the release date has already been pushed back. Wanderlust was supposed to come out this fall, but now it’s set for release February 24, which is probably Oscar weekend, right? So Aniston and Theroux and Rudd might end up as presenters at the Oscars, of course, JUST to promote their film, not because Brad Pitt will likely be nominated. OF COURSE NOT.

But seriously, I won’t give Aniston credit for much, but she is a talented comedienne, and an underrated physical comedian. It looks like this film gives her a lot of physical comedy, which is great for her. As for Rudd… it just seems like the role he’s had a million times before.

  2. lisa says:

    I didn’t find it funny..

  3. Jackie says:

she looks better than usual in the top pic.

she needs to keep her hair long with extensions. without them she looks like an average soccer mom.

  4. Kiki says:

Paul Rudd was also a guest star in Friends. He was Phoebe’s (Lisa Kudrow) love interest 🙂 Loved them together.

  5. Dorothy#1 says:

Looks funny! I love Paul Rudd!!!

  6. mln76 says:

While David Wain is a good director. I’ve kind of lost faith in Paul Rudd because he’s been in so many shit movies. I did laugh at the scene with him on the toilet though. The trailer gets a resounding MEH.

  7. Anonymous says:

Meh. It looks kind of dumb.

  8. KWM says:

    MEH for me too.
    Like Paul Rudd.

Its like Meg Ryan and Russell Crowe though, I dont want to see this movie where Aniston stole some guy from his long term girlfriend.

    It “de-classes” the whole thing.

  9. kristipistol says:

I really like the guy who plays Paul Rudd’s brother, he’s funny and may be the scene stealer

  10. Denver Danni says:

Ok her hair in the first pic is GORGEOUS! She is doing everything right.

  11. whitedaisy says:

Not impressed and I love Paul Rudd. Aniston just isn’t that good.

  12. Calli P says:

Funniest line in the trailer was Rudd talking about getting literal with an R Kelly(?) song.

Looks like your average meh rom-com.

  13. Dibba says:

Paul Rudd is one of those people I love watching no matter what.

  14. Maritza says:

I can’t wait to watch it, it looks good.

  15. Julia says:

I didn’t watch it but Horrible Bosses looked way better and had a more ‘international’ type of humour and appeal.

This one looks bad and too scatologically driven. I don’t think it will appeal as much to the foreign market.

That’s always the problem with rom coms as humour is so nationally driven and heavily culturally related that some countries won’t have the same response to it as it’s so different from their humourous gimmicks.

  16. NM9005 says:

Some parts were funny, I hope the film has more of those instead of putting their best jokes in the trailer already. Paul “slappin’ da bass” Rudd can do no wrong in my eyes. He’s so cute. That nudist dude seems like a hoot too. I hope JA brings it because this screams typical JA romcom to me. She should do more films like “The Good Girl”. That’s the only film I was actually surprised by her acting.

  17. Lee says:

The guy who plays the brother is very funny. I highly recommend hunting down and renting the series “Party Down”. He plays the catering company supervisor who is hapless, endearing, and hilarious. Jane Lynch is also in it, before Glee.

  18. mamaT says:

    i chuckled a few times.

  19. whome says:

    i will wait for netflix

  20. ruby says:

Ugh she is not pretty at all, and her hair is so obviously dyed… I hate it when it’s that obvious. That ponytail is very unflattering too.

having said that the trailer is quite fun.

  21. layla says:

Pic 2 = Extent of JA’s acting range.

Pic 2 and 3 = the reason why JA always wears her hair hanging down in her damn face.

    So over rated.

  22. Lilli says:

ahhhh listen to all the biatches. go do it better yourselves or get old whatshername to do the shortbreathdoordiebeforeikickyoutodeath look with the talons, it better then. entertainment is entertainment. the same old replies are so meh or just boring. keep talking, maybe you mite come up with something intelligent. next ….

  23. gee says:

She looks pretty, I bet it’s funny too.

Paul Rudd’s best movie IMO is The Object of My Affection. He was so good then.

  24. Amanda says:

The film looks terrible and everyone knows that February is dumping ground for movies that no one is bothered about.

  25. MooHoo says:

love paul rudd though. regardless of what he does.

  26. blonde on the dock says:

This looks like it will be pretty funny.

  27. Ell says:

It looks like a fun movie. I’m not a fan of rom com movies but I loved The Object of my Affection. Up until that point I could take or leave Jennifer but after watcing that movie I started to like her and totally fell in love with Paul Rudd.

Looks like a decent cast Paul Rudd, JA, Justin and Alan Alda who I adore.

  28. Really says:

I cannot wait to see this! Looks hillarious! The title Wanderlust” made me have very low expectations. I agree the “R Kelly” comment was my fav part.

  29. JP Fan says:

OMG- This has to be the WORST trailer I watched in a long, long time!
This should go straight to DVD!
Jennifer as usual is disgusting to look at with her botox filled face plus, for the life of me. I do NOT understand how this talentless 43 year old with way below talent 7 looks can have THREE nose jobs, all the botox and still look horrible.
WanderBUST is a a big LOSER! That’s why they delayed it for four months.

  30. Heine says:

Tell us how you really feel, JP Fan 😉

Anyway, this looks random and funny. The trailer isn’t that great but it has some good moments. I’ll probably end up seeing this with my guy friends.

  31. ann says:

Wow, nobody noticed on the 25 sec. mark the picture with Jen and her dog Norman and another dog. Very cute. The trailer looks like it might be the same humor as the Bounty Hunter and that’s not a compliment.

  32. toto says:

i think thats the whole movie , did they need all that to atract us?

for me its the end lol

  33. the original bellaluna says:

Ell – Yes! Alan Alda! I’ll see it (though prob not in theatres – haven’t seen a movie in a theatre since prior to little boy being born).

  34. Kelly says:

I won’t waste my money on it; typical “whatever” movie.

  35. LuckyLilGem says:

Wonder if Justin is missing his ex-girlfriend…

  36. Emma says:

I looked interesting and amusing when I watched it first without sound. This is not a gratuitous dig, but I swear the trailer lost half of its appeal when I watched it with sound. The humor aspect looked fine without sound, but it seemed forced with the sound. Does that make sense?

  37. Katherine says:

“Ok her hair in the first pic is GORGEOUS!”

Denver Dani, your hair would look equally GORGEOUS if it had all the attention paid to it that Aniston’s hair has. That pic looks like she has a hair stylist shadowing her to fix it into place every 10 feet she walks. There is nothing natural about it.

What’s up with her face and make-up? Why must they always overdo it with her? You know I think she’d be more interesting looking and even more interesting seeming without the obsessive work on her looks. She may not look as artificially “pretty” or young looking but she’d be a better looking person – if you know what I mean.

  38. Cherry Rose says:

Well, now I know why Jennifer always keeps her hair framing her face. Because she just doesn’t have the fact to do a ponytail.

I’m not really into rom-coms, so I have no interest in this. Rom-coms pretty much follow the same basic pattern, so if you’ve seen one, you’ve pretty much seen them all.

  39. launicaangelina says:

I saw Horrible Bosses last night and totally enjoyed it! I loved seeing Aniston play an outlandish and oversexed character. She should step out of the box more often. She does well in an ensemble.

I think this will be a flick I’ll catch On Demand.

  40. Becky says:

It looks okay-entertaining but not great. I love Paul Rudd, though. He was so good in “My Idiot Brother.” He’s one of those consistently appealing actors who often gets overlooked.

  41. Mila says:

Can’t wait to watch. It looks good.

  42. Addie says:

    It looks good.

Jennifer has always said that she enjoys comedies and making people laugh and taking an audience away from the seriousness of life for a few hours.
    Nothing wrong with that.

I do agree that she should mix it up a bit and do some drama too. She can really be great at that, she has the talant.

  43. allie says:

Cant wait to see this movie!! Love Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux together. Like Paul Rudd and rest of cast also. Should be really funny.
