I really liked what the Judge had to say.

Did anyone else watch this live?

    • The Original Mia says:

I saw it live. The Judge ripped him a new one. I hope all of these other concierge doctors get the message. You will be held accountable for your actions, for selling your ethics for money & fame.

    • Roma says:

Coworkers and I were watching it live. We all walked away having the hots for Judge Pastor.

His contempt for Murray was pretty sexy.

    • ol cranky says:

I watched it live too. The whole thing. I am incredibly impressed by this judge, that’s for sure

  2. Cheyenne says:

    That’s all?

Indiana Jones and the Quest for Prunes.

Jackie Stallone was on Rove the other day reading his arse, it was hilarious! I had no idea she was 90 though

  5. Rhiley says:

That is a good observation about RW’s injuries. Does she like the attention or is she just really clumsy? I haven’t had the number of injuries she has had this year in my entire life. Strange.

    • Boo says:

Her face looks bruised in that picture

    • Ellie says:

Better that she’s clumsy or showing off random injuries for attention than trouble with Reese’s new home life. I thought that’s what they (CB? Kaiser?) meant at first, but I think Reese has a fierce be-yotch side that wouldn’t put up with any of that nonsense.

A four year man slaughter sentence with no priors in Cali? I got dibbs on he’ll serve one month AT MOST.

  7. Julie says:

Heard 95% of it and was VERY IMPRESSED at the judge. I work at a university and one of our leading scholars went on the local news and said he thought the judge was grand standing. Not in my opinion….I thought he was making sure there was no doubt that we all knew the basis for his judgement which was stellar! (And I’ll add, it did show that there can be justice in high profile criminal cases in LA. Wahoo!!!)

  8. Laughing Librarian says:

Bravo-although the jail sentence was deserved, I am mostly thankful that Murray will never touch another patient. He will also serve as an example to other docs who are propping up the drug abuse of their patients.
Apparently Murray was a reputable cardiologist before he joined MJ’s “team”, but then money and fame got to him.
Diprivan (the drug that killed MJ) has an FDA black box warning saying that the drug should never be administered outside a hospital, and that if one or more docs are occupied with a procedure, an anesthesiologist should be present to monitor vital signs in case the patient begins to crash. Diprivan has up to a 25% INCIDENCE OF CARDIAC ARREST!!!
Murray knew better. To make matters worse, he was not licensed in CA, and therefore did not have admitting privileges at any local hospital.
He sold his soul to the Devil. I will leave it up to others to interpret who the Devil was.
Btw, if anyone has the link to the judge’s sentencing verdict and explanation of the basis for it, please post.

    • tmbg says:

A 25% chance of cardiac arrest? This makes me never want to get a colonoscopy as I’ve heard this is the drug they use to put you into that groggy state. Yikes.

      • Laughing Librarian says:

That’s why there has to be an anesthesiologist there-when I looked the drug up initially-I was aghast. But remember, in surgery they will be monitoring your vital signs-not the case with MJ-no crash cart, either.

  9. Rita says:

What I find interesting about these sorts of trials is the judge’s sentencing. The judge sits emotionless throughout the trial and before the verdict is read, we observers wonder what it will be.

Then the judge gets to speak and in this case it is clear that he considers Murray a disgrace to the medical profession and a remorseless narcissist. The judge’s long experience brought him to an early conclusion that this case was open and shut.

    • Laughing Librarian says:

This was a jury trial, correct? So the verdict as far as guilty/not guilty comes from the jury. The judge does do the sentencing, but he does it based on certain criteria-he has to justify his decision if there is an appeal.
Of course he has to remain inscrutable during the trail-he has to be careful not to sway the jury.

  10. Jackie says:

jackie stallone’s hands are so bizarre!

i guess she has stuff injected into them to puff out the wrinkles. they look like deformed balloons!

  11. CC says:

About time something is done to these “celebrity” doctors. Sure, their patients use their celebrity status to get them to prescribe them, but the doctors are supposed to say no, collectively, and be professionals. And not being afraid to lose business over a celebrity’s hissy fit.

    • Elizabeth says:

      re: doctors saying no
Somewhere out there are doctors who told Michael Jackson “no” and who are breathing a sigh of relief they aren’t going to jail now instead of Murray.

  12. Nudgie says:

I loved the fact that the Judge ripped the California legal system that basically allows felons to walk from jail (NOT prison) in less than half their intended time.

Unless of course you are homeless, a minority or were arrested for ANYTHING to do with drugs. Then your ass is THEIRS!!!

  13. anne_000 says:

There are people in California who are in jail for far more years over non-violent, non-fatal crimes than Murray will be, even though his actions lead to someone’s death. Only 4 years? He’s a doctor, he knew he was handing out a drug so dangerous, it’s usually used under supervision at a hospital, not a home environment.

Also, 4 years in California means he’s going to get out in less time than that.

  14. Cerulean says:

Yes, what is up with Reese? The only people I have ever known with this many injuries are plaqued with inner ear problems or are pro athletes, stunt doubles, narcoleptics, domestic violence victims or alcoholics.
    Sumptin is afoul in Denmark.

  15. Cerulean says:

Tom Brady kissing his son is just swooon worthy. Ben is adorable.

  16. Emily says:

That celebs copying Brandy tumblr is amazing. Feeling very nostalgic now.

  17. Juliesunflower says:

    Stupid irresponsible doctor.

  18. LuckyLilGem says:

Omg, are you kidding me? OJ was found innocent and this guy gets the book thrown at him?!? OJ had a history of repeated violence, this guy has a clean record. He’s guilty of being greedy and weak, not malicious and a mean spirited killer!

Agree with the guilty verdict but not the sentencing. In a situation like this where he had no intent to kill someone, does he deserve angry justice? Would MJ, who had his own We Are the World kindness, be happy with this outcome?

The judge should’ve sentenced Conrad to working to help others in jail- medical care, teaching, etc. Some how turn this tragedy into something good. MJ is gone, no matter how many years Conrad services…it ain’t going to bring MJ back.

But watch, Bernie Fine and Jerry Sandusky will get off the hook.

  19. Mrs. Odie 2 says:

Four years is the maximum sentence for involuntary manslaughter. The prosecution undercharged him. I think they were being extra cautious to guarantee a conviction. He’ll be punished plenty. Dr. Murray likes the ‘hos. He frequents “gentlemen’s clubs” and spent thousands on strippers. None of them will have him now that he’s not MJ’s doctor. He’ll just be another ex-con. Plus, he’ll probably be sued in civil court and be prevented from ever making big money ever again.

  20. leetruth says:

He deserves to be locked up for life. He killed someone and showed no iota of remorse.

    • only1shmoo says:

I disagree with you on this one. He was negligent, but with a man who was already addicted to prescription medication and who had lost the will to live. If anyone should be punished, it should be MJ’s father who exploited his son and had caused him intense psychological trauma.

  21. Mrs. Odie 2 says:

Only1shmoo, did you watch the trial? I did. MJ had in no way lost his will to live. He was looking forward to his future. He had 3 children. He was preparing for a comeback tour. In no way did he want to die.
