These are photos from last night’s American Country Awards in Las Vegas. You might be like me and ask yourself, “Why does Carrie Underwood look so insanely and uncharacteristically happy?” Seriously, Carrie’s sour puss usually rivals Jessica Alba’s “natural bitchface” – so why does Carrie’s smile look so unforced here? Is it because, at long last, after several years of being “Oh, her” at awards shows, Carrie was the undisputed STAR last night? Taylor Swift wasn’t there. Jennifer Nettles wasn’t there. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban weren’t there. It was Carrie’s moment to shine!
So, how did Carrie do? Horribly. The dress is Maria Lucia Hohan, and it looks like one of cream-puff dressed that Katy Perry would fail to pull off, or a dress that would make me yawn if Taylor Swift wore it. The skirt is too short, so it gives Carrie the look of a young girl who has outgrown her “party dress.” Plus, the Ryan Haber shoes just look awful and uncomfortable. I’m really disgusted with this whole ensemble.
Also sharing the spotlight with Carrie? Miranda Lambert! Miranda is big-busted, and I respect that as a fellow big-boob-haver, but I would love it if Miranda would find flattering dresses that showed off her figure in a classy way.
Speaking of boob issues, Kristin Chenowith. I love her, but this dress is WRONG. Whatever is happening to her boobs is just wrong.

Everyone looks like hell. Why is it a must for women to flaunt their boobs. Yes, you are female, we know you have boobs…get over it. Cheap!
Too “frilly and young”? Are you serious? Carrie is like 28. I hardly think she needs to wear something more “matronly”. I think the dress looks cute, but why those shoes? I would have put something a bit more classic on her feet and maybe some long pearls and some other fun necklaces around her neck….
Thank You. It seems that nobody can win when it comes to fashion on the red carpet. They wear a granny dress it’s too matronly. They wear a short dress, and they are over 23, it’s too young.Show some cleavage, everything else is covered, it’s too slutty. If an actress is normal size she needs to lose weight, but if she is skin and bones she has an eating disorder.
Those shoes on CW look like she’s under house arrest and like she’s being monitored for alcohol intake simultaneously. Not a good look, especially with a dress that looks a but too young for her.
Carrie’s dress is OK – looks good on her. Those shoes however belong in the trash.

I guess not everyone has noticed this, but Country Music and classy as seldom mentioned in the same sentence. Ms. Lambert being one of the more frequent fashion offenders. Perhaps they do not care. Not everyone is aware that money does not buy good taste and good sense. Everyone is allowed an occasional pass, but some of these people have used their lifetime allotment. Where was Faith Hill? At least she usually turns out well….
Well, you can take the girl out of the honky tonk, but you can’t take the honky tonk out of the girl! Clearly money and fame has doe little to improve the way these girls dress. They still look as “country” as ever! Carrie’s shoes are awful. They don’t go with the dress at all. And the dress looks like something Taylor Swift would have worn to her middle school dance.
