Here are some more photos from last night’s VH1 Divas concert (which airs tonight). I already covered the Jennifer Hudson tragedy here. This is just a post for the other divas and their fashion. First up: Mary J. Blige in Michael Kors. I like the dress, Mary looks fit and lovely, and my only real complaint is about the blonde wig. I hate it. I think Mary is so pretty, and she looks so much better when she looks more natural, and this wig does nothing for her.
OMG, Dolly! Dolly is so amazing. Do not say one bad thing about her.
Here’s Florence Welch in Antonio Berardi… sigh. Look, I like Florence Welch, I adore Florence + the Machine, but I’m still not buying Florence as a fashion girl. Everyone is pushing that on her, though. Meh.
50 Cent and Chaka Khan? Um, that’s kind of awesome.
Common, just because he’s hot.
Here’s Jessie J, who I don’t really know anything about. That Falguni dress is epic in its awfulness, though. Completely sheer and then a heavy dust ruffle at the bottom? Just do like Gaga and wear your underwear on the red carpet.

So is Florence really only 25 years old
I was just in my basement a few months ago to pull out my old high school dance dresses, and Mary’s dress looks almost EXACTLY like a dress I wore to a school dance in 1996 (but mine was navy blue). And I only paid $50 for mine. Is Michael Kors even relevant anymore? Lord knows they haven’t picked any good winners on Project Runway lately…I donated all my old dresses to teen girls in foster care who can’t afford their own homecoming dresses, so I guess I’ll just be glad that style dress is coming back, and hopefully the girl who got it loved it. 🙂
I like Mary J’s dress. As for Florence, there are no words. And then there is her shoes. Ditto Jesse J. Agree on your take of Dolly, Kaiser. She can do no wrong. Common is looking anything but.
Really? Wow. The above is in reply to Bite me.
Common IS awesome! Definitely some overlooked hotness. And has Florence had some work done? It might just be the angle of the pic, but her face is looking more man-ish than usual there.
Fully agree. Strangely, I really liked him with Serena Williams, too. If I were her, I would have *never* let that one get away!
Mary J — Meh, I wish she would realize that she CANNOT pull off the blonde look and it ages her. Chaka looks amazing, she is so beautiful. Common is handsome as usual and the walk like an Egyptian girl is whatever b*tch!
I love the people in this post. And the blonde wig is the only thing that really should go away.
Mary will be busted as long as she is wearing blonde weaves. Has no one really told her in the last 15 or so years that she has been wearing it how bad it looks?
Pretty much everyone looks busted except for Chaka Khan and Common.
Dolly Parton is a national treasure. She may have an over-the-top image, but her voice and songwriting talent are INCREDIBLE.
The original “I Will Always Love You” still makes me cry every time. Unlike Whitney, Dolly perfectly understands subtlety, just not in her clothes/cosmetics.
Dolly for President! (Of Dollywood, at the very least).
Dolly looks hot! I wish Mary would leave the blonde wigs alone. I have no words for how much I adore and would love 5 mins alone with Common.
50 cent & Chaka Khan …… H – O – T
love common, what a hottie, the see through outfit on jessie j. trying to be notice?, mary looks good except the hair, love dolly and chaka.
Yep Jesse J is another one of our English treasures, truly strange fashion sense but can’t knock her talent, she’s written number ones for JT and Britney if I remember rightly, I think she deserves to be noticed (albeit perhaps not for the outfits so much) :p
No not busted. She looks good. I love Dolly and her whole ‘thing’ she’s got goin’ on! All dolled up she is! 😀
I LOVE Mary J. LOVE Dolly and think she looks like the most fun legend in the world.
And 50 Cent is making me hot right there.
Now these are some actual stars.
I saw part of the Motown show with Mary J. I don’t know if this was it. What I saw was a nice mix of legends and young stars who were all killin it vocally, so I do hope that was real sangin’ and not electronic tomf*ckery.
