New York neighbors complain about Madonna’s excessive noise

Some days I wake up and ask myself, “What sort of douchy things is Madonna going to do today?” And no matter what I predict, she always manages to out-douche herself. A great example: Madonna doesn’t give a crap about any of her neighbors’ general peace and sanity. She’s turned part of her New York City apartment into a recording studio, and is making a racket day and night – causing misery for the other tenants. Can you imagine having to listen to that noise?

Guy Ritchie isn’t the only one who can’t stand living with Madonna. Neighbors in Madge’s swanky Central Park West building have been complaining about noise from the pop star’s new music studio, which she carved out of a seventh-floor apartment she battled to buy. Madge sued her co-op board at the Harperley Hall apartments last year when they tried to block her from purchasing an extra apartment in the building, where she already has a residence on the 12th floor.

She won the fight and nabbed the apartment for $7 million in April 2007, with plans to convert it into an office for Ritchie. Now that the pair have split, Madonna has turned the space into a music studio. With all the practicing she’s been doing for her current tour, neighbors have gotten several rude awakenings.

“They asked her for a schedule of when she would practice, but she hasn’t adhered to it,” spills our building spy. “The music is playing at all hours of the night, and the noise from the drums and the bass blares through the walls.” A rep for the singer said, “Madonna does not stay up till all hours of the night … so I can’t imagine there is any validity to this story. She needs her rest. She’s a working girl, you know.”

[From The Daily News via Gossip Rocks]

Who to believe, the multiple tenants who’ve complained or the one self-entitled diva who denies ever doing anything wrong. So hard to decide. I would guess that if neighbors in Madonna’s posh apartment building are calling the Daily News to complain, they’re probably pretty desperate. It’s probably safe to assume that they’ve tried rationale measures like talking to the building’s management. Whether someone’s blaring music loudly at night isn’t really a matter of opinion – either they are or they aren’t.

Most buildings have quiet hours after 10, which means Madonna should theoretically be silent. Considering they’ve already resorted to calling New York tabloids, I’m guessing Madonna’s neighbors will next be calling the police.

Gotta love homeowners associations, eh? Also, she’s using actual instruments? Yeah right, I call shenanigans…

  2. Lauri says:

How dare those awful neighbors complain about her? Don’t they know that her whims are far more important than their need for rest, or for a peaceful home environment?

They should feel honored that such a superior being permits them to live in the same building as her.

    Such ungrateful beasts.

She should teach them a lesson and move back to England.

  3. sandy says:

Madonna supposedly sleeps 4-5 hours a night so these complaints are probably true.
Noise after 10 sucks, I’d be pissed.

  4. daisy424 says:

“….She’s a working girl, you know”
Way to spin Madonna as the victim. 🙄

  5. geronimo says:

Sounds like her campaign to win the hearts and minds of the entire world is coming along nicely.

  6. mif says:

She had to turn that space into a recording studio….when there is probably lots of warehouse space in NYC away from residential neighbourhoods that she could have used.

I’m surprised she got the extra apartment. I remember in the late 1980s how hard it was for Madonna to get an apartment in New York City…she was voted down by MANY coop boards, who thought she brought too much trouble with her. THEY WERE RIGHT.

  7. nikky says:

firstly, ewwwww @ that photo. Put it away Madge. Try dignity on for a change.

Secondly, why doesn’t she just soundproof her studio?

  8. cara says:

Why doesn’t she just buy a nice compound in the ‘burbs of the city?

    She is just sooooo uncouth.

  9. Kaiser says:

She has enough money to soundproof her entire apartment. Spend money on something other than Kabballah water, Madge!

  10. mel says:

god shes just embarrassing now. nothing worse than and old woman trying to act like she’s 20 something.

  11. mamalama says:

how is it possible to have BOTH nasty sinew arms AND the old-granny-flapping-in-the-breeze arms?

  12. JaundiceMachine says:

I was trying to wrap my head around the same thing, mamalama.

    “She’s a working girl, you know . . .”
How much do you think Madge would fetch on the streets of New York City? I imagine there’d be a healthy market for She-Hulk mistresses and diaper role-play, but I think if tries to work the narcissistic granny angle I think she’s looking at a max profit of $30.

  13. Ananda Leso says:

She is not even in New York most of the time. Pure bullshit rumours, as usual.

  14. Ana' says says:

Can you imagine how much a unit in that building costs? I probably paid .00000000000000000001% of that cost for my condo and I’m pissed when my neighbors have an impromptu, noisy get togethers. Keep it up and Madge will have the assn/coop board members gunning for her and trust me, the folks that sit on those boards can be vicious.

On another note, that 2nd pic looks so incredibly ridiculous I can’t stand to view it for more than a second. 😯 Gawd woman, get a clue and get at least one flunky on your payroll that’ll tell you the truth.

  15. Angelo says:

The people leaving this stupid comments are about as dump as this entire story. Get a life folks!

  16. Maritza says:

I agree, she needs to soundproof that studio. Those outfits she wears are awful, it looks as if she refuses to accept her age. Totally inappropriate outfits!

  17. Kemocole says:

“The people leaving this stupid comments are about as dump as this entire story. Get a life folks!”

    haha, seriously? Angelo = Irony

  18. Eileen says:

First of all: MAN-that first picture of her is just gross-her arms are nasty!
Seonds: How sad this all is to see one of your childhood idols turn into a freak show. I think I was her 6 years in a row for Halloween! (sob)
Why can’t these people just grow and mature the normal way? I stuck with her through the whole Vogue and Erotica stages…but the last few years are becoming too much. I’m now going to put on Borderline, put on my black lace gloves and 50 plastic braclets, and light a candle.

  19. jord says:

This woman is worth over a Billion Dollars. Her new tour will gross around $300 million plus. She can afford to buy a whole building for herself in lower manhattan.

Who knows if its true. The woman is on tour. Doubtful she is making music right now…but who knows

  20. Victoria says:

    haG-been

  21. dani says:

i don’t think you’re even allowed to have a recording studio in a residential coop. either she is blatantly breaking the strict coop rules (in which case the board can kick her out) or this is story is just plain untrue.

  22. dani, that process doesn’t happen overnight.

  23. mark says:

I’m only surprised that they’re not complaining about the skank stench coming from her place.

  24. Codzilla says:

I guess this puts my neighbors, and their dog’s incessant yapping into perspective.

Edit: Madonnna’s physique is truly repulsive. Her desperate attempts to cling to her youth are backfiring to frightening degrees. Too bad she doesn’t allow anyone around her to speak the truth.

  25. Jeanne says:

I’m so over this old bitch. How come Guy has to buy his kids “spiritual toys” but she can hang half-naked off a cross or French kiss chicks on stage.

  26. Madge says:

People pay good money to listen to that 5hit – tell the neighbors to quit complaining.

  27. Naz says:

    Ha ha haha,,, She-Hulk

  28. RAN says:

@Angelo – YOU’RE one of us folks leaving stupid comments and apparently in need of a life 🙄

  29. PeachPie says:

    Jeanne, excellent point!!

  30. Kat says:

Geeeezzz, start wearing long sleeved shirts or very, very long gloves, to cover those old arms.

  31. josie says:

Why don’t all of u get a life.
She can do what she likes, I’m sure if there is a problem with noise, it will be dealt with. But I’m pretty sure she wouldn’t be that inconsiderate, and have music blaring at all hours…give me a break.
And as for her arms, so what…I’d like to see one of u complainers do the stunts she does..no one can dance like Madonna, u are all jealous.

  32. Alejandro Ruiz says:

Madonna has three young children who live with and no doubt have early bedtimes. I find it hard to believe that Madonna would make such much noise and wake her own children much less the neighbors. It’s more likely the neighbors dislike Madonna for other reasons and would like nothing more than to evict her regardless of whether the complain of noise is true or not.

  33. Jennifer says:

Madonna must become the brand ambassador for QuietRock soundproofing! And she must get some done herself, in her house.
