Justin Bieber bought a $10.8 million home: wasteful or he has the money anyway?

As Kaiser mentioned last week, Justin Bieber has finally (?) turned 18-years-old, which means that his mom can no longer ground him after he buys a $160,000 car. As such, Justin has asserted his independence by splashing out on a $10.8 million home in the Hollywood Hills, which just happens to be the same place that Ashton Kutcher recently used as a bachelor pad at the rate of $50,000. I can only hope Justin had his people thoroughly sanitize the place while wearing hazmat suits. Here are the details:

Most 18-year-olds would be happy to just have a big party to mark the milestone age, with a few token presents thrown in to boot.

But Justin Bieber clearly isn’t your average teenager as he’s splashed out on a lavish mansion for a birthday treat to himself.

The Baby singer is buying up a $10.8million property in the Hollywood Hills to set up a lovenest for himself and girlfriend Selena Gomez.

And he is set to move into the sprawling property… as soon as Ashton Kutcher moves out.

The Two and A Half Men star has reportedly been renting the house for $50,000 a month since his split from wife Demi Moore in November.

With plenty of space, Justin has ample places to play as the home features five bedrooms, set across 9,400 square feet.

Looking over Lake Hollywood, the large living room has walls of glass, allowing the pop superstar to have a perfect view of the stunning scenery.

And both Justin and Selena will have plenty to keep them occupied with a private movie theatre, a bar area, and even a gym and massage room to treat themselves to.

Now the singer has reached adulthood he can also practice his culinary skills in the large state-of-the-art gourmet kitchen.

[From Daily Mail]

WENN also notes that the home includes 5 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms and is considered “architecturally significant” because it’s essentially built as two glass and steel boxes that are cantilevered and feature rotating rooms and decks. Yes, it seems a bit excessive as the first home of an 18-year-old boy. My instinct is that this house is merely an expensive way for Bieber to assert his newfound adulthood, and more power to him, I guess. It’s his money, and if he wants to quickly spend it all and speed his way towards becoming the next M.C. Hammer, no one can stop him.

Still, it does slightly creep me out to think that this room might be the place where the Bieb will be having sex.

I think its great for him! After all his hard work, why not spend a little? He obvs has the money for it!

  2. laylajanelovesgossip says:

    lmao..the workout equipment…He looks like he’s 12 still!!!

    • Trek Girl says:

18 year-olds that look slightly younger than their age can’t workout?

      That’s news to me…

  3. Maguita says:

If there is one certainty in the civilized world of investment, it’s real estate.

Long-term, real estate is always a sure thing. The Biebs is worth something along the lines of 250 million dollars. WHAAAAT!!! Yeah, that much, or even more. His mother did manage his money quite well, and if the Biebs retires now, he’ll live like a king for the rest of his days.

As for the bedroom, the Bieber does not have sex. The Bieber weeps lovely tears of tenderness that make the ladies, and the boys, see heaven through starry-eyed cosmic orgasms.

No, I cannot imagine Bieber having sex either. No matter how I try to manipulate it… No pun intended.

  4. Sara says:

He is 18 and a multi millionaire so he can do whatever he wants. He probably need some peace and quiet.

  5. Trek Girl says:

    I don’t think it’s wasteful.

There are much more expensive homes on the market than the one he bought, and a lot of them aren’t nearly as interesting as the one he chose.

I do hope that house was thoroughly sanitized, though lol. I know it probably hasn’t seen anything that the majority of homes in that price range haven’t, but the thought of him living in a home that was owned by Ashton Kutcher does make me shudder.

I just hope he doesn’t do anything crazy.

    • Trek Girl says:

I just read on TMZ that Justin Beiber hasn’t bought that house.

Well, when he does by a house, there really shouldn’t be any problems with him doing so. He works hard for everything he has and can spend however much he wants.

  6. Nanz says:

10.8 mill is surprisingly modest considering what he can afford. Isn’t it crazy to think how different his life is from most 18 yo?! I was living in a dorm at 18. It was the size of a walk-in closet. And I had a roommate. Plus, I was a slob. I keep picturing my 18yo self in a house like this. All I can see are clothes scattered across the floor and dishes that need washing. So mismatched in such a nice setting! LOL.

  7. Marianne says:

Most people in Hollywood own big expensive houses. Sure one person doesn’t need that much space but it’s not like it’s uncommon. Besides, it’s his money. If he wants to buy a $10 million home, then fine.

    • Jeneral says:

I’ve always wondered about rich people buying houses like that with floor to ceiling windows… how do they have any privacy? I’m sure a telescopic lens on a camera can see right in the windows just fine – or do rich people windows come with a one-way film on them or something? I can’t imagine having quite that amount of glass in my house, I’d be so self-conscious all the time!

  8. moonriver says:

He and Patricia Heaton have the same haircut… That’s all I came here to say.

  9. G says:

Wasteful? No it’s a sound investment.

  10. lucy2 says:

If he has the money, why not? It looks like a nice place, and real estate in that are will probably always be a great investment.
His career has to have a very limited shelf life, so I’ll be curious to see if he’s careful with his money for the future.

  11. Incredulous says:

That much money and neither a guard rail on that drop nor curtains?

  12. LL says:

Spend money to buy a house is far better than spend it by going party n booze ever nite.

  13. Eileen says:

That is a rocking house! I am seriously jelly of The Biebs!

  14. NO SH¡T says:

He has the money why not its better than paying thousands of dollars on a hotel room. He throw parties, have friends and family gatherings.

  15. spawn_of_roni_raygun says:

It’s a beautiful house, in good taste (at least the architecture, and interiors can always be changed to suit yourself). Good for him. It’s a lovely home and I hope he enjoys it for however long he has it, whether that’s years or decades. It beats blowing all your money up his nose or lining the pockets of some manager or guru who didn’t actually earn the money.

I do hope he gets a fantastic cleaning service. All that glass and hardwood is going to be a bitch.

  16. ladybert62 says:

ugly house but at least he didnt spend the money on drugs and/or hookers.

  17. Madison says:

Real estate is always a great investment as long as a big mortgage that you end up not being able to pay doesn’t come with it. That’s a great house, love the kitchen and the pool.

  18. Shelly says:

He earned the money. He can spend it on whatever he wants and can be as “excessive” as he wants.

  19. normades says:

House is amazing!!! Hope he doesn’t ruin it with his immature bling bling tastes. They’ll be doing balcony dives into the pool.

  20. Happymom says:

I see an MC Hammer moment coming along in a few years.

    • Trek Girl says:

Hopefully his mother and the other people in his life will encourage good financial practices, and moochers and hangers-on will be non-existent or few.

For some reason I don’t see him going down the road that MC Hammer and others have, but you never know.

  21. Buffy says:

Slightly off subject here, but whatever happened to the supposed girl who “had” his baby? I am quite certain she was lying, but I am a little curious as to why she just disapeared. I mean he was so sure he was going to squash her, why would he all of a sudden go quiet on it? Seems like he wanted everyone to know he wasn’t the father….. Did I miss something? Odd…… 😉

  22. Katie says:

It’s certainly a better investment than cars. But at the same time it seems a bit excessive. Then again, who am I to judge. It would be nice if celebrities actually had a sense of social justice and acted on it as much as they’d like us to believe they do. There are much better things to do with 10 million dollars than buy an enormous house for one person.

    • Trek Girl says:

Who said his house is for one person?

Justin Beiber may live on his own most of the time when he does buy a house, but he does have a mother, siblings, a father, and other family and friends that he seems to appreciate and would most likely be welcome in his home.

I must also add that while Beiber may spend thousands or millions of dollars on something for himself, that doesn’t mean he isn’t giving to charity or being genorous. We don’t know everything that he does with his money, nor should we. A person who makes a lot of money can buy expensive things for themselves if they want to. He is talented, he works, he makes money, and he can spend it how he wants.

  23. mk martin says:

Pretty sure that twinkie starlets will never know the meaning of ‘hard work’. Homes like that should be reserved for the people the grow and pick our food, not pop tarts with teenaged libidos. Inflated sense of self worth.

    • Jeneral says:

I so agree! I don’t doubt Biebs works long hours and has to stay up late and rehearse and do a lot of time-consuming things for his profession, but I’m sorry, I fail to sympathize with someone who SINGS for a living. I won’t ever be patting show business people on the back and saying “wow, you work SO hard for that money, you deserve it!” Being paid tens of millions of dollars to look cute and croon into a microphone is about the most overpaid job in existence.

I’m not saying he shouldn’t have what he’s earned, but let’s not be overly gushy on the kid for holding on to his job. There are millions of people who work a grueling job 6 days a week, 12 hour workdays, with a 2 hour commute each way for minimum wage to pay the rent. I’ll save my praise for them.

  24. Kim says:

He has the money and its an investment. I just hope he donates alot to charity as well.

  25. thetruthhurts says:

I can’t wait. He’s gonna go the way financially of Vanilla Ice & MC Hammer.

  26. Jill says:

I wonder how many people with state-of-the-art kitchens don’t know how to turn on their Aga stoves and end up eating take-out?

  27. Kaboom says:

Real estate in a good location is an investment, not consumption. With a $50k rent tag a month the valuation of 10.8 million is actually quite favorable.

  28. Julie says:

if the prizes dont drop extremely he’ll have a nice investment. that house looks like he could sell it again.

  29. anne says:

No one is the world and in this state of the economy needs a 10.8 million dollar house. Of course his entourage may be moving in too. (vomit)

  30. CL says:

I hope his housekeeper doesn’t mind buying booze for underage kids!

  31. Shy says:

But what about that girl that claimed she was having Bieber kid? She just VANISHED. It does look like he payed her to disappear. And you know I didn’t believe her but this thing is just suspicious too much. Didn’t he say that he will sue her? Hello, Justin – where is your law suit?

And now I assume that there was some truth in it. Maybe Bieber did have sex with her and wasn’t sure that baby wasn’t his. So he payed her. Everyone forgot about it like it never happened.

    • JenRoz says:

I was just about to ask the same thing.

If the baby wasn’t his, he’d take a DNA test and shout the negative results from the rooftops. Then probably sue that girl.

I’ll bet he paid her off.

  32. aang says:

what is with the beach photo? is he wearing boxers under swim trucks so he can wear the trunks under his butt? i can’t stand it, soooooo stupid looking and impractical. he can do what he wants with his money, just PULL UP the pants.

  33. Jover says:

Asli would he not be a one per center; I don’t begrudge a Led Zepellin their moola because i’ll give a pass to legends; but not useless pop tarts; lets see where he is in 5 yrs.

  34. Karma says:

    Location, location, location.

Not really sure how great a location this is. Looks to have no land attached to it other than what the house sits on.

The style of the house is…eh. Kinda limiting for resale or even remodeling. The harsh industrial lines are fine for a while but even placing a comfy couch in one looks out of place. So often design choices clash and look tacky within one of those structures.

Wouldn’t buy it myself…if I had the money to invest….lol.

It just doesn’t seem to do industrial or loft type living justice and tries to cut into rooms awkwardly to create intimacy. It doesn’t work via these photos.

  35. Freckles says:

It’s not really a waste of money is it. He’s buying property so he gets to sell it when he’s bored with it and should at least get his money back unless he’s sells during bad times.

  36. TruthTella says:

Well we’ll see how he ends up, Either like Lindsay and blow it all in a few years or hopefully he’ll turn into somebody like Charlotte Church who was careful with her money and is rich to this day.

  37. judyK says:

If you look up at the ceiling you can see where there are shades or some type of drop drapes up in the box that goes from one end to the other on top of the windows, There are window coverings lol
