Hugh Jackman lost a lot of weight, looks like has has fleas: Would you still hit it?

I know that question is ridiculous, and it’s making me giggle uncontrollably. You know I would! It’s Hugh Jackman. Just stick him in the shower and wash the grime off him first and you’re good to go. When I first read that Hugh Jackman lost weight I was like “where” since the dude was already buff. After I saw him I realized that he lost weight the Christian Bale way, all over until he looks emaciated. Poor Hugh. I’ll make him a nice meal and take care of him.

Hugh is playing the Jean Valjean role in Le Miserables, and he’s of course in character for these shots taken on set in London. I honestly didn’t read the book, but I saw the 1998 film, with Liam Neeson, Claire Danes and Uma Thurman. I loved it and wonder why they have to make another one (update: this one is a musical, thanks for cluing me in!) Celebuzz has a good overview of Hugh’s character, along with the casting for the rest of the film. Hugh is playing the lead Liam Neeson occupied in the earlier movie:

Hugh Jackman isn’t looking so jacked on the set of Les Miserables. The Wolverine actor known for his big smile and bulging biceps was easy to miss while filming scenes for the beloved play-turned-movie.

Hugh, 43, is shooting scenes in London, England as the character of Jean Valjean, and looks to have shed some pounds and muscle for the part. Dressed in rags, Hugh also dons a poorly shaved haircut that includes scars all over his head.

In case you’re not familiar with the story, here’s a breakdown of Hugh’s character, and it may explain why he’s so thin.

In Les Mis, Jean is a poor man who has been on the run from the law for 19 years after he stole bread to feed his sister’s starving children during an economic depression in France. Jean is actively pursued his whole life (and throughout the play) by police officer Javert (Russell Crowe).

Other familiar faces to join Hugh in this classic tale include Amanda Seyfried (Cosette), Helena Bonham-Carter (Madame Thénardier), Anne Hathaway (Fantine) and Sacha Baron Cohen (Monsieur Thénardier).

[From Celebuzz]

The only thing that Celebuzz forgot to mention in their article above is that Russell Crowe will be playing the officer who chases Jackman’s character throughout the film, his foil Javert. Now I’m getting all excited for this movie, which isn’t out until December! Damn, well at least it’s coming this year.

I’m going to take a hint from Celebuzz and also include some shirtless photos of Jackman as contrast. It’s Tuesday Wednesday*, we deserve them. These are from last August, so it wasn’t too long ago that Hugh was big in just the right places.

*I honestly thought it was only Tuesday! WTH is wrong with me?

It’s Wednesday in my neck of the woods

  2. KMD says:

They are making another one because this one is a musical. The 1998 one was good, but not anywhere near as good or as beloved as the musical version.

  3. Shay says:

This film is going to be the musical version (more akin to the Broadway stage production), so it’s going to be very different from the 1998 version.

  4. Celebitchy says:

I’ll update with the musical stuff, I should have known that, thank you!

Also, I seriously thought it was Tuesday. I’m grateful it’s Wednesday already. Damn.

  5. Guest1 says:

I hope it is a good production of Le Mis, because many times it is difficult to translate musicals or broad way shows into movies.

  6. BamaGuy1024 says:

Hugh Jackman is such a great artist and such a total hunk of beefcake, all that muscle is still there and he will build it back up after this role. What dedication!

  7. Mimi says:

Gimme this guy ANYTIME over Michael “Yellow teeth” Fassbender!

  8. GoodCapon says:

    That is one hot hobo.

  11. lucy2 says:

Wow, what a difference! The makeup and costume people did a great job on him too.

I always liked the musical, I hope the film is good.

  12. Jen34 says:

He seems like an all around good guy. I would hit it for sure.

  13. Lisa says:

Ew, do not get his appeal either way.

  14. Nanea says:

I’m really looking forward to this, because Hugh is such a good singer too, in addition to being eyecandy (well, usually).

And the movie will clearly benefit from those two Thénardiers, and Russell, and having Samantha Barks as Éponine.

  15. Sapphire says:

Hottest guy I’ve ever seen, but not in those photos!

  16. Zvonk says:

I’d hit it. (On the condition that he promised to keep the “jazz hands” to a bare minimum)

  17. Cleo says:

this is the most adorable I’ve ever seen him

  18. mia girl says:

I didn’t think it was possible to want to hit it more, but Jackman and Les Miserables is the meeting of two of my favorites… so Jackman as “working on the chain gang Jean Valjean” – damn, I would HIT IT ESPECIALLY HARD!

  19. baba says:

    He has a great body.

  20. Rachel says:

But who plays Eponine??? Agh! I had no idea this was going to be a musical. Can Russell Crowe even sing?! Must imdb now…

  21. sophie says:

I think you want to reread the final sentence of the fourth paragraph of your excerpt as regards whether they mention Russel Crowe as Javert or not.

  22. Moi says:

Missionary, upside down, sideways, backwards, forwards, hanging from the ceiling fan……you get the picture. 😀

  23. Stubbylove says:

The answer to that questions would be, “Yes, a dirty birdy resounding Yes”.
