Kristen Stewart in Stella McCartney at the Kids Choice Awards: cute or unflattering?

Don’t ask me to recap last night’s Kids Choice Awards. I didn’t watch it, nor did I do anything but briefly skim a few stories about it. You can go here for a recap of the night’s events. Some celebrities got slimed. Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber seemed to win lots of awards. I’m just going to cover some of the fashion from the event, and I do mean “some” – because I don’t recognize two-thirds of the “stars” at the event.

Let’s start with Kristen Stewart, shall we? She stood out for me because A) I’m surprised Kristen still gets roped into doing these events, and I kind of like that she still puts in appearances at awards shows that she could totally ignore; B) Kristen looked gorgeous! I’m not completely in love with this Stella McCartney dress – it’s a beautiful color, but something isn’t working for me about the fit and the fabric (which looks like fancy wallpaper). Still, Kristen looks great. Tiny little waist, and the girl loves her minidresses. Just one thing: STAND UP STRAIGHT. Also: K-Stew loves her dark eye makeup. Which is fine – it suits her current “look”. I would like to see her experiment with some subtler makeup styles, though.

Next up: Heidi Klum, in one of her first post-divorce red carpet appearances. I love everything about Heidi’s look here. The dress and boots are by Roland Mouret. The dress is flattering, understated, and awesome. The boots are AMAZING. I even love Heidi’s styling here – great makeup, good hair. I hope this is the start of a whole new Red Carpet Klum.

Don’t like the dress and KS needs to become more “polished” (standing up straight, as mentioned, would be a start). She’s one of the main characters in a very successful franchise and her career is red hot and on the rise. She really needs to pull it together and act like the celebrity she is.

    • KristenManiac says:

K-Stew is gorgeous even with no clothes. I have never loved anyone more that Kris. I’ve been around a loooong time too. God was generous when he made my girl, Kris.
Too much make up??? Dahhh. What makeup???

      • Coucou says:

I love her, too! Love to see her dressed up, even though i’m sure she’s hating it. She’s adorably authentic.

  2. lisa says:

Regarding KS.. I think the makeup is too harsh for this dress. It needs something softer.

I can’t say anything nice about Heidi and that outfit

    • Elizabeth says:

I agree KS’s makeup is too harsh for that dress. But it doesn’t seem to matter how fancy her clothes are – she still looks like crap. Raccoon eyeliner, ill-fitted clothes, poor posture, LIP CHEWING! She turns 22 this month, looks like she’s 12.

    • Coucou says:

Beaver boots, wow Heidi, Klassy with a capital K. FFS! (for fashion’s sake) not at all digging this look.

  3. Tillie says:

Heidi Klum looks great. I was getting kind of tired of her looks, but she looks awesome her. Wish her and her kids the best.

I love Kristen, always have. She looks nice, fantastic legs.

  4. Cathy says:

Meh…the dress is ok. But her makeup looks like she’s copying Kate Middletons raccoon look. She’s been doing that alot lately. So why does she get a pass on the raccoon look and the Duchess of Cambridge doesn’t?

  5. Alexis says:

KStew looks cute. I like color and the pattern of the dress. But I agree that the dress fits a bit awkwardly. The dress seems like the right size but the wrong cut; like its cut for someone a similar size but with a curvier body type than her. KStew’s got a great, healthy body, but this dress needed to be tailored to fit it!

    • Gradstudenteatinghotpockets says:

I agree…I think maybe if they just took it in a little under the bust then it wouldn’t gape as much. But compared to a lot of the other stuff she wears…I think this is a great choice!

    • Carolyn says:

How can Stella McCartney seriously call herself a fashion designer? That dress could be from the bargain rack at K-Mart.

  6. I.want.shoes says:

I think what’s wrong with the KS’s dress is the fabric- it looks so thick and heavy. Which is probably causing some of the bunching at the waist, giving the appearance that it doesn’t fit properly.

I HATE thigh high boots. Only hookers should wear them.

  7. jr says:

Don’t see the big deal about KS. Her success in Hollywood must be pure luck, so she best count her good fortune. There’s nothing extraordinary about her looks, her attitude seems often surly…go to any mall in America and you’ll find a gazillion more interesting and beautiful girls, imho.

    • Lila says:

People have different taste. I think she has fantastic bone structure and that she is really beautiful. I think she’s looked better before but she ‘s still cute here…I believe Carey Mulligan and Emma Stone are beautiful too…Yet I see people criticize their looks and praise others that I din’t find nearly as attractive. So I agree it is weird how subjective it is.

    • rissa says:

I think she’s really pretty. just my opinion

  8. emma says:

The dress is ill fitting and she has looked far better in the past and her hair looks a mess. I’m beginning to see that your taste is strange. You criticize a lot of women who look great and yet you like this?

    • Mouse says:

Agreeing here. She has looked better in the past and I really dislike this dress on her – I was surprised by this article’s stance on this dress.

  9. Kris says:

She can play zombie in “Walking Dead”. Next.

  10. Hipocricy says:

What i like about Kristen is that unlike many of her peers her generation, she still looks freshly teen like. No fake plump lips, no fake big boobs, no botoxed face, no blond ambition hair color, no permantently hair extension, ect….

I hope she will keep her genuine self a long time. I am tired of those twenty something, early thirties who are refabricated from head to toe looking like inflating plastic barbies erasing all that look human in their physique.

This girl with her unperfect untanned petite physique, looks real, fresh and human like beautiful.

    • Mauibound says:

Yep. Have to agree to that!

    • tara says:

co-signed. There’s enough “polished” girls on the scene that come off like stepford teenagers, they creep me out. I like the fact this girl doesn’t stuff her bra or nip and tuck. It makes her more fresh faced and appealing to me.

    • lucky says:

well typed. I quite like that comment and perhaps that is why she seems so approachable and normal to me. She isn’t always “on,” or shiny or anything like that. Being someone with some social anxiety I can very much relate to what may be part of her awkwardness and I think it is refreshingly normal.

    • Diana says:

I totaly agree with you. She’s fresh and doesn’t settle or conform to this Holliwood image everybody seems to think she should have. I think she could definitely improve her posture but other wise, I love her looks. She has amazing skin and great legs and I thought the dress emphasize the legs without making her look trashy.

      • Kristen says:

I agree with all of you. Just the other day my mom and I were talking about how “cookie-cutter” every actress is now: blond hair, spray-tan, size 0, etc. The new and up-coming actresses all look alike and it’s gotten so boring. In this era it’s impossible to imagine actresses like Bette Davis, Lily Tomlin or Carol Burnett ever having gotten even a single audition, to say nothing of having an actual career in Hollywood. It’s really a shame. I like that Kristen Stewart looks her age and isn’t the sterotypical “beautiful” that we’ve come to expect in actresses. I think she’s truly original and I genuinely hope she stays that way.

  11. Letty says:

Heidi needs to wear a bra – the girls need some support – thy are half way down to her tummy

  12. Justine says:

Y U wearin shoes the same color as your dress?? Meh.

Besides that: The dress is nice and I like the fabric, even it seems to be a bit ill-fitting indeed. But I think it would look less heavier with shorter sleeves.

  13. Esmom says:

K Stew looks great, that’s the way to rock a ponytail so that it doesn’t look like gym hair. Not a fan of Stella Mc but this looks good on her.

H Klum looks good but her tight, short dresses are getting old.

  14. Sophi says:

Kristen ruins every outfit she wears. She always stands like she is wearing some biker outfit. 😉

    • Lila says:

Wow, I see the homophobic implication. Stay classy!

      • Sophi says:

Oh jeez! Seriously? There is a way to stand in a nice outfit and a way to stand in jeans and boots. That is all I meant. Don’t be stupid.:-(

      • Sophi says:

Besides Lila, there are plenty of gay people who wear dresses and plenty of straight people that wear biker clothes. You’re the one who thought homophobic ideas that was never my thoughts. 🙂

    • Johanna says:

People always read what they choose to read. Some people are on standby to attack.

      • Jackie says:

Saying a girl (who is not wearing leather or biker boots or anything related to a biker) looks like a biker is kind of synonymous with saying she looks masculine. No offense, but I’ve heard people say shit like that before to insinuate something looks “gay” which is homophobic. Another example is someone saying a dude dressed up in “traditionally” masculine clothes still looks like a theater major, which is another way of implying someone is gay. Anyway, I can see why someone thought that may have been an underhand homophobic remark because it plays on gender norms. The whole thing is a bit silly though, because of course a feminine woman can be a lesbian.

      • Sophi says:

I never used the word gay or thought the word gay. I think she stands like she is dressed in jeans and boots. Always. I am gay. But thank you for making that an issue. I wasn’t going to throw it im your face, but whatever.

    • Johanna says:

The whole thing is a bit silly though, because of course a feminine woman can be a lesbian.

So… It kind of leads you to square one, huh? It all depends on how the reader interprets it. You have someone like Lila who jumped to the conclusion that a discreet homophobic statement was being made. Someone like myself read Sophi’s comment & determined the opposite.
How did a simple comment on her habit of slouching become so offensive & automatically gay related?

  15. Jackie says:

kristen looks so average. like a girl who was plucked off the street and put into a designer dress that she is clearly uncomfortable in.

heidi looks ridic. those short dresses of hers need to be retired. the boots are awful. heidi, you’re not twenty five anymore. just accept it.

  16. Agnes says:

stop biting your lips, you poser!

  17. Sour worms says:

Bad posture really irks me. It is the reason I can’t look at KS for too long. Is it really that hard to stand up straight?

Heidi looks great. Lover her entire look.

  18. tyler says:

Kristen looks awful. That dress is so unflattering and sad, especially for a kid’s awards show. And her face bugs the hell out of me… the make-up, the stoner half-closed eyes, that sullen smirk.

I was babysitting last night and the kids were watching the first Twilight movie (I had never seen them) and KStew looks SOOO much prettier when she’s making use of non-sulking facial expressions and she doesn’t wear all that dark eye make-up. I swear, would it kill the girl to crack a genuine smile for a photo once in a while?

  19. Pretty Kitty says:

Kristin’s bad attitude makes her look awful in almost everything. You can put lipstick on a pig….

    • ace says:

and what bad attitude was she showing? she’s not the one calling another person a pig. i mean who does that? if anything you’re the one who has an ugly attitude. i get you dont like her but calling names? such a bully

      • almond says:

You know, throwing the word “bully” around, all willy-nilly really trivializes it. I won’t hold it against you that you didn’t know the expression “you can put lipstick on a pick”. You can google the meaning on your own time.
Also, while we’re on clarification and disambiguation, the site is called celebitchy; please note the derived form of the word “bitch”.

P.S. In my language, a similar expression goes “good cheese in a dog’s stomach”. It means it’s a waste. In this case, a waste of effort on the designer’s part. KStew gets no mention, because she never makes an effort; except at trying too hard. But that’s another discussion.

  20. Michele says:

I’ve seen a ton of pictures from last night’s KCA and these are not the best ones of Kristen. She looked amazing! Her hair and makeup looked fresh & youthful. She has the most flawless complexion and teh most gorgeous green eyes. She also wears her minis well with those long, slender legs and tiny frame. Even though the dress could have used some nips & tucks, she still rocked it! She seemed happy and smiled so much last night. It appears her mini break from filming at the moment and downtime with hot boyfriend Robert Pattinson is doing her a world of good!

    • mia girl says:

This! I saw some on popsugar and what surprised me was how smiley and happy she looked on the carpet and in the photos of her accepting an award There was a close up of her face with a lovely smile, fresh skin, and that color really complimented her eyes and complexion. She looked amazing.

Maybe she’s finally relaxing and realizing she should have fun with it. She’s got a great career and a hot boyfriend. I’d be happy.

    • Diana says:

I cosign to everything you just said. It’s sad to see Kristen can do no right in the mind of some but truth to be told, she looked amazing and appear to having a great time.

  21. only1shmoo says:

I can’t bring myself to say anything bad about K.S. since I have the biggest girl crush on her, but i do wish someone had made more of an effort with her hair. As for Heidi, the entire ensemble is outstanding!

  22. Lila says:

Ha, there were some really pretty pics of her smiling and standing up straight on popsugar…but of course you find the most unflattering pics. She looks cute here.

  23. My Darling Pinkett says:

Don’t like either of these outfits, but Heidi’s is just awful. In what way is that attractive or flattering? And I hate the lumpy ponytail on Kristen. Not fond of the dress, either. I like the blue, but that’s it.

  24. Rux says:

I want Heidi’s whole outfit ASAP!

  25. kristiner says:

Eww! It’s the Kid’s Choice Awards and KStew is wearing a old looking dress and looking way too formal.

That kind of lace at a kiddie show is more for Helen Mirren. This is a dress she should wear to the Globes not slime awards.

  26. yibee says:

Heidi Klum’s dresser should dress Kristen Stewart.

  27. suzanna says:

Heidi looks amazing! I am not a fan of that style of boots, but they look incredible on her!
Kristen looks beautiful, love her makeup! I like the dress, but would have loved it if it was sleeveless with a different cut on top.

  28. Courtney says:

I Love Kristen’s Dress though it would look better on somebody who actually has a chest her boobs are so little. Stella McCartney knows how to dress a real womans body because she comes from a long line of real women herself who have breasts hips and butts. her mom Linda was a 34dd bust outside of pregnancy and nursing and Stella herself is a 42dd when she’s not nursing which was 16 months per child and she like her mom had 4 kids though not as far spread out and all with the same man correct Paul was Linda’s 2nd husband she’d had 1 child Heather with her first husband John Melville See jr December 31st 1962 and her youngest child with Paul Son James on September 12th 1977 via repeat caesarean section. while Stella’s are in about a 6 year period of time from February 25th 2005 to November 23rd 2010

    • nina says:

why do you know people’s bra sizes off hand? lol

You don’t need a big bust to wear Stella’s designs at all–Kate Hudson wore her all the time and she was probably flatter than kristen pre-implants. Both are petite girls with long limbs. Kristen just needed the dressed tailored a bit before she wore it.

    • Jayna says:

Wow. Kind of bizarre you are obsessed with this trivia.

  29. CTgirl says:

Same old KS with the ill fitting dress, heavy eye makeup, messy ponytail and short dress that isn’t quite right. Nothing special.

  30. nina says:

I think Kristen has a great little body, all limbs and a teeny waist. Not the most flattering dress on her, but she’s very pretty while still looking girl-next-doorish.

  31. Joey says:

Heidi looks great but this was the Kid’s Choice Awards! She looks like a trick who got plucked off the ho stroll.

  32. Reece says:

I can’t, I just can’t, I have so many issues with her stylist. Same s**t different day.
    I like the color.

I can’t decide on Heidi. There are things that I like and things that I don’t.

  33. bamabrasileira says:

Kristen Stewart is not “gorgeous”! This girl looks a MESS! I always want to throw her in a bathtub everytime I SEE her!

  34. molly says:

Dear Kristen, your legs are not as great as you think they are. They remind me of a chicken…scratch that, a chicken has better legs you do. So pull down your dress because you are at a childrens award show and no one wants to see your hoo-ha.

  35. Katija says:

Kristen Stewart looks like she’s there because she won a contest. I cannot believe that girl is a movie star.

  36. Isa says:

I don’t think Kristen is pretty at all. She has a lot of chin and forehead. Her features are smarmy. Her hair looks like it nees brushed.
    I like her shoes.

  37. Onyx XV says:

Unflattering. Stella McCartney clothes are ALWAYS unflattering. Her designs suck. The only reason for her success is due to her father’s fame. I have not ever seen one – not one – of her designs that I found attractive. And Kristen Stewart wearing her is not doing her any favors. “K-Stew” is about as interesting as a bag of rutabagas. I suppose that could be considered insulting to rutabagas.

    • Jayna says:

The only one I have liked was Madonna’s Asian-inspired, blue, fitted gown at the Met gala last year.

  38. Jenna says:

Ugh. Dislike this dress, it could be more fitting at the waist and the belt could be a different color. Not to mention the matching shoes.

  39. emma says:

Kristen’s skin is beaaaaauuutiful! It looks flawless but also as if she has no makeup on. Gorgeous lucky girl!!

    • CTgirl says:

The “flawless” skin is due to having a great makeup artist. KS has freckles and when you can’t see them you know that she’s wearing tons of makeup. She might look better if she let her freckles show.

      • Michele says:

I’ve noticed a few freckles on her nose when she gets some sun but other than that, her skin is like porcelain. In her movie On The Road, she is sporting a light tan and you can see some freckles on her nose. They look cute on her. She’s very lucky to have such a beautiful complexion. I’ve seen pictures and video of her with little to no makeup on and the freckles are barely visible. Her usual makeup people do a nice job applying just the right amount of makeup for all of her appearances. She never looks overdone. I think she looks youthful and fresh faced most of the time.

  40. Jayna says:

Kristen should have worn nude or a neutral color pump. The matching blue shoe looks cheap.

    Heidi looks amazing.

  41. shailee says:

she looks beautiful, and her skin is AMAZING, with or without make up

  42. Daphne says:

I love K’s makeup and shoes, but that dress is gross, imo. It might have been better on someone else, maybe in a different color, but…meh. Heidi, on the other hand, looks perfect from head to toe. Wish I could wear those boots.

  43. Angb says:

Kstew looks great. Love that color.

  44. mimi says:

Ahhh that fabric looks like Kristen just rolled herself up in some curtains and made a dress, Gone With the Wind-style! The fit of the dress certainly doesn’t help.

  45. Camille (The original) says:

I would have liked KStew’s dress better if it had been short sleeved, otherwise she looks cute.

  46. bluebird says:

Hey guys! this is KIDS CHOICE AWARDS! Kristen needs to wear something wholesome! No bare back! No plunging neckline! I think she’s gorgeous!!!
