Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert at the ACM Awards: overdone or lovely?

Kaiser already covered some of the fashion from last night’s ACM Awards, including Taylor Swift and Nicole Kidman, who both looked gorgeous and very well put together. Here we have country queens Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert, who both looked a little too “done,” in my opinion. First off is Carrie in strapless Abed Mahfouz couture. Her look is kind of amazing on one hand, but I’m getting a “prom” vibe from it and I feel like we’ve seen this look from her before. I just looked through some of her recent fashion, and Carrie is actually good at mixing it up. It’s kind of a general default look for the red carpet, which why it seems familiar. I love the sheer shirt though. This is one of the few dresses I’ve seen where a see through skirt actually works. This dress seems to be washing her out when coupled with her very light hair and pink lipstick.

Carrie performed “Good Girl” last night (video is here) and she was nominated for Female Artist, which ended up going to Miranda Lambert. Miranda also took home Album of the Year for “Four the Record.” The Boot points out that Miranda has won ACM awards for three out of four of her albums!

Miranda was in gold scaly formfitting Randi Rahm. I have mixed feelings about this dress. It looks like it’s shedding a little, but there’s something so bold and killer about it. Plus it goes perfectly with her coloring, hair and makeup.

As for the short, tight patchwork number that Miranda changed into for the press room later that night, it was just awful. She should have stuck with the gold dress. Holy cleavage!

Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland was in this pink lace and chiffon gown, which I actually like. Kaiser emailed me that she loves Nettles but finds her style to be off. I think this dress is fine on its own. The color is a little bright but it’s striking and the cutout pattern is so pretty. It’s the bright neon bedazzled belt that just ruins it for me. Nettles wore a similar mismatched neon green belt to an event last month, and a photo of that is below. Also, doesn’t she look a little like Kirsten Dunst?

I kind of like Carrie’s dress, but it does wash her out. She always looks overdone, washed out, and prom-y, I think.
Neither of Miranda’s dresses are that flattering, but the second one is vastly worse.
I don’t like that pink and green belt one either.
Nicole and Taylor did look great.

Lambert has a butt load of money, why in the heck doesn’t she spend some of the money on her ‘fat’ figure. Get a trainer, hire a chef to cook yummy foods that do not put weight on her? She has a handsome husband, why doesn’t she do something for herself and him by getting off the fat from her body!

        Seriously @ TheFactsR

She is a successful attractive woman! Beautiful women come and all shapes and all sizes-Mainstream media and the pervasive hate for women in society today is only feeding your fire. Your hateful comments are not welcomed

    I looove sugarland

Lambert has a great voice and a natural body.

She also seems to have a slightly too-wide, too-short face/head. It’s the first thing I notice every time I see a pic of her, especially in pic #4 of this post. Is it the eye makeup?

The short dress is better, it gives her the illusion of more height.

Carrie always looks the same. I like this dress but she has worn this style so many times.
I didn’t care for Miranda’s dresses and I kind of liked the first dress on Jennifer but the belt ruined it.

Lambert’s shorter dress VASTLY better than the long number. While the long gold dress is lovely and color perfect for her, the short one is more youthful and shows off her great legs and elongates her body. Underwood is lovely, but she always looks like a prom queen – way overdone and pagaent-y.

Only going to comment on one dress, because it’s the only one worth mentioning in my opinion and that’s Carrie’s. She looks GORGEOUS and that dress is pure heaven.

I’ve never been a Carrie fan or considered her particularly beautiful, but I just changed my mind.

  7. Lia says:

Do Lambert’s boobs really hang that low (do they wobble to-and-fro)? The gold dress does nothing for her.

  8. GeeGee says:

They are suffering from prom ball queen syndrome.

  9. Kara Ann says:

Carrie always looks like a Barbie Doll!
I really like her dress and agree that the see-through skirt is actually attractive.

Miranda’s gold dress looks good on her. I really dislike the shorter one.

Jennifer Nettles should just say no to the belts. Other than the belt, the pink dress is really flattering BUT the belt ruins it.

Carrie’s dress is very pretty, but predictable. Miranda’s dress is pretty from the waist up, but she is too bottom heavy to wear a dress that is clingy.

  11. Elizabeth says:

Lambert’s gold lame dress is lovely but she might want to consider a style that supports her boobs better. She looks a bit droopy. And her husband makes a lousy fashion accessory – can’t he stand farther away?

    • TheFactsR says:

She does look droopy. When she turned around on stage in that dress at the ACM’s I couldn’t look at anything else besides her butt! HUGE! The dress did nothing to help her big butt either. She should so something about that before her husband looks elsewhere.

Looks like Carrie-Let-Me-Show-You-My-Hoo Ha- Underwood lived up to her name last night. Talk about fugly.

  13. Francesca says:

The dress Carrie wore at the start of the show, the short pink thing, made her look pregnant. It was the dye job on the skirt. I thought, ‘pg in high heels, hum…kinda weird’ and then she started grinding around and I turned the channel. Not a good look…

  14. blouson says:

Carrie and miranda need a less brassy blonde…more ashy like Amanda Seyfried or Taylor Swift. It makes them (esp Crarie) look Barbie dollish and plastic.

  15. Lauren says:

I thought Miranda looked as if she has lost weight! Carrie does not look attractive. Taylor is stunning.

  16. lilly says:

Great article, the dresses are all stunning

  17. Michele says:

Now, Blake hes a hottie and love him on the Voice… Team Blake!

  18. celineisme says:

Carrie’s dress is drop dead gorgeous and she looks lovely as always. Miranda is way to heavy to wear the styles she tries to stuff her body into. She looks like a streetwalker. The Sugarland womans gown is also lovely except for the belt but that color and design is really pretty on her.
