Charlize Theron covers Vogue UK, talks about Jackson, “the coolest kid ever”

I think this is one of the prettiest pictorials I’ve ever seen of Charlize Theron. I like this better than her last “wet look” appearance on American Vogue too – Vogue UK does more challenging photo shoots, I think. So, Charlize appears on the May cover of Vogue UK (photos by Patrick Demarchelier), likely to promote her two films coming out in June, Snow White and the Huntsman and Prometheus (squeeee!). In the early interview excerpts, Charlize talks about adopting her son Jackson and her early days as a model:

She‘s always wanted to be a mom: ‘I’ve always been very honest in saying I wanted a family. I’ve always known I wanted a family.’

Her mom pressured her too: ‘I don’t think my mom could wait any more!’

Jackson: ‘Jackson is incredible, the greatest gift,’ she added. ‘He is the coolest kid ever.’

Who she admires: ‘I hope to be like my mom,’ she told the magazine. ‘Fair, tough, loving and supportive. My mom has made it possible for me to be who I am. Our family is everything. Her greatest skill was encouraging me to find my own person and own independence.’

Vulnerability: “All my characters have to be people with a capacity for vulnerability, a weakness. I have never met a human being who doesn’t have vulnerability.”

Born a decade too late to really make it as a model: ‘I was too tall, too big, too late for the supermodel look of the Eighties. Kate Moss and all the tiny, grungy girls had just become fashionable, and I didn’t fit the bill.’

Diet and exercise: ‘I’m sure there are women who never have to worry about what they eat. But I do. I exercise a lot, and I hike a lot. My mom and I hike at least three times a week.’

She sounds peaceful. Of course, she’s never really been crazy or anything. You sometimes hear stories about her being bitchy, but she’s not neurotic or anything less than extremely self-contained. I suspect these basic-issue quotes about Jackson (“He is the coolest kid ever”) will be some of the only things we hear about her son. Of course, I could be wrong. Maybe she’ll go all Jennifer Garner and we’ll be seeing photo-ops of Charlize and Jackson for months and years to come. But I doubt it.

  3. marie says:

those pictures of her are amazing..

  4. Nessa says:

She is my favorite actress, by far.

  5. Bite me says:

Damn that a lot of airbrushing

  6. Rita says:

Now that’s Charlize!! Incredibly beautiful!!! Amazing how great a woman can look only a few days after bringing her new baby home. Wow, she looks so fit and trim already.

    • Rhea says:

???You do know that she’s not pregnant before right? Of course she would be trim and fit…

    • Agnes says:

she adopted… she was never pregnant.

    • bns says:

And you do realize these pictures are photoshopped, right?

She’s beautiful, regardless, but no one looks this perfect.

    • The Bobster says:

Insanely beautiful women should be producing their own children.

Oh yeah, that would ruin their figures.

  7. Franny says:

To me, she’s always been one of the most beautiful women out there.

  8. Lila says:

Beautiful woman, but a lot of air brushing to make her look younger and disguise the fillers. The recent photos of her show that she has been effing her face up with fillers.

  9. Kate #2 says:

I could be way out, but I always liked her. She comes across in interviews as having a really good sense of who she is, and that’s not that common with actors. And she seems smart, too. I also like that she keeps her personal life under wraps – shows that it can be done.

  10. Samigirl says:

She is stunning. And I love hearing (the little bit) she said about her son. I feel the same way about mine. It’s an incredible feeling, knowing you are mother to the coolest kid ever 😉

    • Tiffany27 says:

How are you feeling sami? You’re almost done right?

      • Samigirl says:

6 weeks, sister. Dr. appt today, and she already weighs right at 6 lbs! (of course, ultrasounds are off a pound one way or another normally). But, I’m feeling fantastic. My bosses are worried I’m going to pop before tax season is over, hahaha 🙂

Thanks for checking on me. You’re such a dear.

  11. The Original Mia says:

Love her! She seems at peace and grounded. Granted, I side-eye her friendship with Handler, but even that can’t diminish her cool points.

  12. lucy2 says:

She is insanely gorgeous. And I love the styling of these photos. AND she’s a great actress too.

  13. QQ says:

She sounds Zen but i digress lainey has always said she is Off, like bring up having kids on second date/closer to her Young Adult character than most people would guess ( unhappy and whatnot) but she is Gorge, Talented and hopefully this kid makes her centered and all that happy perky sweet stuff moms talk about

  14. fabgrrl says:

Wow! Now HERE is a woman who could write an article about the trials and tribulations of being incredibly beautiful! (Referencing the Samantha Brick story)

    • lin234 says:

Completely agree! Her face is insanely gorgeous, mile long legs, etc. She’s just one of those women you get nervous looking at much less being 5 feet near her. As a woman, if I were near her, I wouldn’t be jealous, more like in awe.

  15. Anastacia Beaverhouzen says:

i love Charlize sooo much,i agree this is def one of the most lovely photoshoots of her.

  16. jc126 says:

    She is insanely gorgeous.

I wouldn’t have put those pointy shoes on her feet, just a quibble. Those things make any feet look bigger.

  17. podzol says:

Now that she mentions it… Charlize would have been an amazing supermodel in the 80’s, à la Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista (maybe it’s just me). And unlike Rosie Huntington-Whiteley… this lady can fiercely act! The cover is amazing, but I agree with jc126 that the pointy shoes don’t match with the rest.

I noticed that she hangs out a lot with her mama, just like Diva CrazyHeigl. But doesn’t get nearly as much scorn as the latter one does, on that front.

  18. Dredz says:

This is the one who should play Grace Kelly!!!

  19. Coucou says:

She is stunning, it’s true…i could see her having the kind of problem that Samantha Brick has, poor girl (choking back the sarcasm here), however, she has been dabbling in botox for quite some time now, the first time you can really see it is in her movie “Head in the Clouds” with Penelope Cruz, when she’s straddling the Nazi and beating the shiza out of him and nothing moves from the nose up. It’s all good, i’m pro-tox to a certain limit, but i just don’t understand why these younger women do it…i don’t think she overdoes it, however, because she is still such a versatile actress, i adore her!

  20. blonde on the dock says:

    Wow! Breathtaking!

  21. Isa says:

She’s beautiful and I love her eyebrows.

    • danielle says:

Lol! That’s funny, I’m fixated on eyebrows and noticed how great hers were. Thought I was the only person who does that!

  22. Aurelia says:

This is a woman who has had some great, subtle tweaking and not gone overboard. She looks young and fresh. Just a touch of botox and some fillers to keep things real.

Never seen her looking so great.

  23. Aurelia says:

Very modern grace kelly, spec in the pastel dress.

  24. Cleo says:

Without a father figure, I would not adopt but if I did, it would have to be a girl because watching my brother get older without his father has been absolutely terrible. There is NO advantage for a boy to grow up without a father.

    • Lol says:

I would wager growing up with just a rich mother beats not having a mother OR a father. Besides there is no way of knowing how many males Charlize will have around her.

  25. Cleo says:

Remember how hot she looked in Two Days in the VALLEY and Devil’s Advocate? Why couldn’t she always look like that in movies.

  26. cerulean says:

She looks amazing. Being a mother is a wonderful thing and its nice she is able to experience it for herself.

  27. Kennedy says:

She’s my favorite actress and hands down the most beautiful woman on earth. I want her and Ryan Gosling to date and make babies… beautiful, blonde “method acting” babies.

  28. luls says:

sigh………. Charlize… you are my Empress, Goddess, ETERNAL QUEEN.

I could write endless poetry about this woman, and im not even a poet!

    LUV HER! <3

  29. Lem says:

    She makes me drool

  30. Mwgross says:

God, she is so beautiful. She reminds me of Grace Kelly so much!

  31. TheOriginalTiffany says:

Breathtaking! She really is. And she’s a great actress. What a face! I agree about the shoes though.

  32. LinLin says:

Wow, she looks amazing! I wish they would give us a baby picture already, sheesh.
