First look at Anthony Hopkins in character as Alfred Hitchcock: OMG!

*NOTE: This photo is of Anthony Hopkins in character as Alfred Hitchcock.

For whatever reason, I completely forgot about this behind-the-scenes, making-of-Psycho film. I forget what the movie used to be called, but it’s current name is simply Hitchcock, which strongly implies “bio-pic” but that’s not what it is at all. The movie is just about how Alfred Hitchcock made Psycho, and people have just been discussing how Jessica Biel and Scarlett Johansson were cast in it. But guess who’s playing Hitch? Anthony Hopkins! And the header photo is actually Sir Anthony IN CHARACTER. Can you believe that’s him?

The real Hitchcock (photos below) had that iconic profile, and it seems like they’re sparing no expense with makeup and cosmetic add-ons and stuff. Did you know that Helen Mirren is in this movie too? She’s going to playing Alma Reville, Hitch’s wife, and the film focuses more on their marriage than on “the making of Psycho” I guess. Now I can’t wait to see Hopkins and Mirren together – that should be a dream. Hoplins hasn’t been working that much lately, which is rough because I love him so much. A few years ago, he dropped 75 pounds and he started looking a bit deflated and sick. I’m including some photos of Hopkins from February – he’s gained a little weight back, and I’m guessing that he’ll be padded for the Hitchcock role too.

I can’t WAIT to see this, Sir Anthony and Ms Mirren, I am amped.

Hitchcock was creepy to me, I read that he LOVED the ladies.

    • apsutter says:

Yea he was a womanizing POS that made great movies. He basically ruined the career of the lead in the “The Birds” because she refused to sleep with him.

    • Carolyn says:

Hannibal Lechter crossed with Hitchcock = far more scarier than any of his movies. Even The Birds.

I smell an Oscar for best make-up and nomination for Mirren and Hopkins. Please don’t let Biel and BoringJo near this film. I actually want to see this.

I was 11 or 12 when I saw Psycho. Luckily the house I lived in only had a tub, no shower. However, whenever I visited others or went on vacation, I could not bring myself to close that shower curtain and use the shower even though I would love to have showered instead of bathed in the bathtub. It took many years for me to get over that.

      😉 Poor girl.

    • JM says:

I was around the same age when I saw Psycho for the first time too. Even now, 30 years later, I’m still nervous when I shower & there’s no one at home. Hitch was a bonafide GENIUS!

I love Hopkins…he truly is a great actor. Every time I see him, all I hear is “Clarise” in that voice of his. I loved all of his Hanibal Lecter movies. But him as Hitchcock, he will knock this bitch right out of the park!

  5. Chatcat says:

OMG Awesome! I only go to 3 or 4 movies a year at the theaters and this will probably be one of them!

  6. Dawn says:

OMG is right! I was a Hitchcock fan as a kid and I still am. This guy was a genius. If you have yet to get into him I suggest you rent some of his films. Rear Window is among my favorites. Grace Kelly & Jimmy Stewart give simply wonderful performances. I’ve seen it about 30 times and it just sucks me in every time and I see something new. I also suggest Vertigo, another Jimmy Stewart movie. Loved that one too! Oh and North By Northwest is great too! So many to see that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

    • Sassy says:

Agree! I just saw Vertigo on one of the movie channels recently. Kim Novak is stunning. Worth renting. I didn’t quite remember the plot since I saw it so many years ago, and it still holds up as one of the best.

  7. Eileen says:

WoW! The resemblence is uncanny! This could be a gret film!

  8. Marianne says:

He definitely doesn’t look like himself anymore…but he doesn’t look 100% like Hitchcock either.

  9. Nanz01 says:

Like others have said, I can’t wait to see Hopkins and Mirren in this film! That picture is amazing! But I can’t understand how ScarJo and Biel ended up in the film. I mean, how did that casting discussion even happen?

“You know Sir Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren have signed on for the film. Who should we cast as the two females to portray the actresses from Psycho?”

“You know, when I think of Hopkins and Mirren, I think Biel and ScarJo.”

    “Perfect.”

    THIS did not happen.

  10. I Choose Me says:

Another Hitchcock fan here. Anthony looks fantastic in character. Add in Mirren and I can’t wait to see this.

I thought he was dead – or is that Dennis Hopper. I’m confused.

  14. Jayna says:

Shadowlands, I have seen it ten rimesand cried everytime, aboutthe Christian children’s author, C.S.Lewis, with a much younger Jewish divorcee, played by Debra Winger.

  15. Samigirl says:

Wowzers. He looks just flipping like him. Amazing. I can’t WAIT to see this.

  16. B says:

He looks great! I’m definitely interested now!

  17. Eleonor says:

Anthony Hopkins is an hell of an actor,he was great in the Silence of the lamb, but I think one of his best performance is The remains of the day.
Usually I don’t like biopics, and I was very suspicious about this one (ScarJo? Jessica Biel? Pleaaasee), but if there are Helen Mirren and Anthony Hopkins I HAVE to see this movie.

  18. Jessica says:

WOW!! I cant WAIT to see this!!!

  19. hillbillygirl45 says:

Hopkins is an awesome actor, no doubt he will nail this role. Hitchcock always scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. Psycho was the worst, followed VERY closely by The Birds. To this day, I ain’t real crazy about some of those flying, feathered little devils. This is gonna be a movie for me to see!

  20. Gene Parmesan says:

He said he watches Mob Wives!! How awesome is he??

  21. skuddles says:

This should be good – can’t wait!!

  22. sup says:

looks more like brando to me

  23. Camille (The original) says:

Wow, awesome. I’m sensing lots of Oscar buzz will happen for this film (at least for makeup and probably Oscar nom for AH).

  24. mememe says:

If anybody can do this role, he can. The transformation is shocking!
