These are some new photos of Johnny Depp at a party at Pink Taco last night. He was celebrating with Steven Tyler and Aerosmith – the party was for their new album, Music From Another Dimension. Johnny sings “backing vocals” on at least one of the songs on the new album, and I guess he’s tight with all of those rockers, right? Johnny was flying solo at the event, and reportedly Depp seemed in “high spirits” as he laughed and joked with fans, and signed lots of autographs. He even looks better in these photos – not so puffy and tired. Maybe he’s not drinking so much. Also: hand to God, Johnny has better eyeliner-application skills than Duchess Kate.
As for who Johnny is with these days, and whether or not he’s single or trying to reconcile with Vanessa Paradis or Amber Heard (or both), I don’t really know. Us Weekly had this story several days ago:
Amicable exes! On July 18, just one month after announcing the end of their 14-year-partnership, Johnny Depp, 49, and Vanessa Paradis, 39, reunited at their $5 million mansion in the South of France with their kids, Lily-Rose, 13, and Jack, 10.
“They were both relieved they got along well,” a source close to the pair tells Us Weekly. When the clan ventured to the nearby Plan de la Tour market on July 19, “they were joking around,” local Sofia DeCout says. “At one point, Johnny held Vanessa’s hand!”
Despite the sweet gesture, Depp and Paradis won’t reconcile (and, a source adds, he’s still dating Amber Heard.)
Explains the insider, “They are looking forward, not backward.”
I don’t even know. Maybe Vanessa and Johnny are back together. Maybe they’re just playing nice for their kids. Maybe they were never really apart, but just on a time-out. I have no idea at this point. I suspect Vanessa has a better idea of what she wants, but God knows what is going on in Johnny’s head at this point.
PS… I’m enchanted by that photo of Depp signing his autograph. Is he drawing a dong?

Arizona and LA are not that far apart. I’ve made it to Flagstaff/Grand Canyon in a few hours, no private plane involved… short flight to Phoenix, friend in Phoenix with a car…. we even stopped to take pictures. Tuba City has a tiny airport from what I can see, so I doubt it would be more than an hour from there to Burbank or Santa Monica on a private plane.
Why is he still wearing mascara and eyeliner?

That was my first thought too…. He adopted this pirate-rocker persona? Weird. One thing was the earring on Harrison Ford, but this is spelling midlife crisis more clearly.
No Harrison Ford was worse… he was 10 years older than JD and JD has *always* had a pirate rocker persona. Or some kind of wannabe rocker. Jack Sparrow was based on Keith Richards.
To me it’s more like he never let go. I’m a former rocker girl. He always bugged me because I saw him as a wannabe – I never got past his role in 21 Jump Street when I was in HS. In my fevered teen brain he was THE ENEMY but I digress. I lasted until about 35-7 with the dark clothes all that stuff. Now I actually wear colors. I still love the look but at 43 I think it would look odd (unless I’m going to a concert).
I wonder if he got the permanent eyeliner?

It’s smeared. He looks like what I look like the day after a party where I wore too much black liner. Even though I wash it off, there are liner remains in the morning.
I’m not a fan either, I’m actually quite sick of him having survived 6 years of Pirates sequels at my former employer but he looks better than he has in a while in these pics – weird make up and wanna be 70s rocker clothes and all. I think it’s the Tuba City tan. It suits him. He looks more um… manly even with the liner.

I’ve never thought of JD as this absolutely terrific looking guy….but he always had a sort of raffish charm. Now, he more closely resembles his dear friend and collaborative buddy, Tim Burton. That’s not a compliment.

Benny an Joon was on cable this last week and I caught about an hour of it. I remembered why I loved him but not so much now. It would be great to see him in something lighter, without Tim burton, something that shows his range again. I feel like he’s becoming a charicture of himself.
Supposedly he will be in Wes Anderson’s next movie, which would be awesome. I hope this mid-life crisis BS leads him away from Tim f*cking Burton. He can be a great actor but it seems like he’s been coasting on Pirates/Burton for the last decade. You made your money, now go do it for the art.
Really?? Wes Anderson is my favorite director. I’d love to see Depp work with Anderson. In fact just this morning I was hoping for Anderson-Bale collaboration. I really want Bale to take a break from all the psycho roles just as I want Leo to take a break from drama. I watched TDKR over the weekend and I’m disappointed as hell. Saw Harsh Times last night and thought it would be good for Bale to work with someone like Wes Anderson for a change.

I think his skin looks great,he looks like he showered. I’m used to his styling;he has never been conventional.
He has had a weird sense of style for decades. I have always been a fan and thought I wish he didn’t dress so strangely. There have been short periods where he looked more “preppy” but for the most part, this is who he is. He just hasn’t changed as he has aged so he is starting to look a little silly. Add his recent split and he looks like a mid-life crisis except he really isn’t that different from who he always has been. I think he just calmed down for a period with Vanessa. I think she was really good for him but he got an itch and now he’s back to who he was 15 years ago except he’s 15 years older and it looks silly.
Physically, he looks good. Sartorially? Wellll… it looks like a lot of thought goes into that. I mean, it must take him an hour just to put all that jewelry on. Oh! And don’t forget the chain. But wait! The scarf! Can’t leave home without my giant pocket scarf!
It’s definitely a look. And it’s definitely a look he’s rocked for a long time. But does that make it a good look?

This look is pretty contrived even for a guy in his 20s; at 50, it’s hard not to be distracted by the notion of a grown man putting that much effort into a look that’s so “retail rebellion.” tho I have to say I don’t mind the eyeliner, being a product of the 80a and all…

I think men have a different view of other men. They don’t usually attack and bash like women do. But I don’t hear men talking a lot about Johnny. I’m not talking about Tim, or the older Rockers he hangs around with. But MEN in the business or men on Shows. I have heard other actor gush about certain male stars. Praising their filmography and really kind of mancrushing.

This is why even though I think he is aesthetically good looking, I never thought he was attractive. Why does the excerpt from US magazine seem ambiguous to you? It comes right out and says they are done…like People did last month or so.
