Anna Paquin & Stephen Moyer welcomed twins a few weeks early

I kept forgetting that Anna Paquin was pregnant, and then I completely forgot that she was expecting twins – Anna and her husband Stephen Moyer announced the bit about twins months after the initial pregnancy announcement. Well, Anna gave birth! The couple released a carefully-worded statement to People Mag so I’m not exactly sure WHEN Anna gave birth, but it was recently and it was earlier than expected – which happens often with twins and multiple births, right? I’ve always heard that women expecting more than one will often deliver weeks earlier than their due date. Anyway, twinsies!

The True Blood twins have arrived.

“We can confirm that Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer recently welcomed their twins into the world,” reps for the actors tell PEOPLE exclusively.

“The babies were born a few weeks early, but are in good health and both Mom and Dad are overjoyed.”

These are the first children together for Paquin, 30, and Moyer, 42, who were married in August 2010.

Moyer has two children — daughter Lilac, 10, and son Billy, 12 — from previous relationships.

The costars just wrapped their fifth season, with the finale of the hit HBO show airing Aug. 26.

[From People Magazine]

No names have been released yet, and we don’t even know the genders. I’m hoping for a boy and girl for them, just because that would be fun, to experience both genders at once. I’m really rooting for Anna and Stephen, and I hope they’re in it for the long haul. I also hope that Anna’s career doesn’t take a hit now that she’s a mom. To her credit, I liked that Anna wasn’t getting pap’d constantly while pregnant. She didn’t seem to have any interest in selling her pregnancy like, say, Jessica Simpson. And it would have been the easiest thing in the world for Anna to have gone that route.

Anyway, congrats to Stephen and Anna! I hope the babies are happy and healthy and everyone is doing well!

She was pregnant with TWINS? Holy crap! Jessica Simpson looked like she was going to give birth to an entire soccer team!

    • Izzy says:

True, but then again, Anna did not eat half of Manhattan’s food supply.

Plus, does anyone else feel like Jessica’s pregnancy was as long as an elephant’s gestational period? She was pregnant for what seems like forever.

  13. mia girl says:

    Awwwww babies… Congrats!
PS They are one hot couple.

  14. Chatcat says:

“I’m really rooting for Anna and Stephen, and I hope they’re in it for the long haul.” Ahh Kaiser, that would be nice but I wouldn’t count on it. I like them both, and I like them as a couple, but Stephen doesn’t have a track record of committed relationships, even when kids are involved. Having said that, congrats on the twins and much health and happiness enjoying the little bundles.

  15. Mirella says:

    Yay, Congrats & best wishes!!!

HOW ARE SO MANY CELEBRITIES HAVING TWINS?!?!? The last few years SO many celebs have had twins, which are fairly uncommon among us commoners. Is it some weird high end fertility treatment or do they just have magic superior DNA?

Aside from that: congratulations to them. I hope they have a wonderful family life!

    • Alexis says:

I’ve noticed this too…I think a lot of them do it artificially somehow…I’m totally suspicious too.

    • grisgrisny says:

The frequency of multiple births is on the rise in the general population as a whole (the rate has close to tripled for twins and even more so for triplets, quads etc). As women are having babies later in life the chance of having multiples increases either naturally occuring or as a result of fertility treatments.

Clomid is a serious twin maker and there is nothing exclusive about it. Just a little pill – I speak from experience 🙂

    • Melissa says:

The risk of twins increases for older mothers (not Anna, just speaking of people in general) because you’re more likely to drop more than one egg as you get over 35. Clomid is a first-line fertility treatment and I think the risk of twins is about 10%. Not sure what the risk of twins is with artificial insemination, but with IVF, risk of twins is 20%-25%, assuming you put in 2 embryos.

    • Nanea says:

I’m a mother to paternal twins, 12 years old girl/boy, and several among our relatives, friends and colleagues have all kinds of twins too. None of them were conceived in a lab.

    • Bodhi says:

I have 3 friends who have sets of twins. I don’t think it is a uncommon as people think

  17. Jen34 says:

I can’t wait to hear the names they have chosen. Congrats to them.

  18. Nanea says:

Congrats to all of them from a fellow mom to twins.

I am just as curious as to gender and names as everyone else here.

  19. stinky says:

she’s only ever given me the complete heebs. ick.

  20. Violet says:

I seem to remember Bill left baby mama #2 for Anna, which doesn’t make the best foundation for a longterm relationship. It’ll be interesting to see if they stay together after True Blood ends.

All that aside, I wish the twins well!

    • Izzy says:

I recall reading somewhere that Stephen’s baby mama herself denied that Anna played any part in their breakup, and that they had already split. Plus, the baby mama is a journalist and actually wrote a profile on Anna, after she and Stephen got together. Doubt that would’ve happened if it was a messy love triangle.

      • Sofie says:

I hadn’t heard that, I heard the opposite actually, but I don’t follow them closely. And I don’t think the nice article (that some people think was subtly snarky, but I can’t find it so I can’t comment) means anything either way. It was written years after Anna and Stephen hooked up so Lorien could have been over it by then, or she could have just been being professional, or she could have decided to play nice for the sake of her kid. Probably some combination of the three.

  21. melior says:

I’ve just seen a pic of hers. She’s already almost at her pre-baby weight. How do some women manage that? I also find it swell she didn’t advertise her pregnancy.

  22. Elena says:

Congratulations! I’m very happy for them as a couple and as parents and wish them all the joy in the world!

  23. the original bellaluna says:

Congrats to them! 🙂 They make a cute family, and Anna appears to adore his kids from (two) previous relationships. (0 marriages, fwiw.)

I hope everyone is happy and well.

  24. Stubbylove says:

Awww, congrats to the couple on their healthy twin babies! Moyer’s Blue Steel in the 1st pic cracks me up – he’s such a studly little man.

  25. Camille (TheOriginal) says:

    Congrats to them! Lovely news.

Anna made for a lovely looking pregnant lady. I’m so glad she didn’t go the way of JSimpleton and didn’t use her body like a garbage dump.

  26. Lisa says:

Awww. My brother’s twins came early, too. Happy for them!

  27. I Choose Me says:

    Billith!

Okay now that I’ve gotten that out of my system. Congrats to the happy couple! I love these two together (in real life) and here’s hoping their family stays a family for the long, long haul.

  28. Jilly Bean says:

    My god she looks stunning!

  29. TG says:

I am happy for her but I too agree with others regarding the twin epidemic. I realize that many people are waiting until they are older to have their first child and I understand that their fertility count is likely to be lower than someone under 35 but I don’t believe all these celebs actually have fertility problems. I think they go the IVF and other fertility methods because they are too impatient to let pregnancy happen naturally or they want to be special and have twins. Okay, so now for my totally bitchy theory I think many of these celebs who have kids with a partner who already has children from a previous relationship try to one-up the other kids. I mean in Anna’s case Steve already has two kids from two diffrent women so she knows that having a child will not make her special but having twins will make not only her extra special but also her twins. Just like JLo did since Marc alrady had a dozen kids by different women. It is just something I have noticed over the years. It also works with men too. If the woman already has a child he makes sure to get more children on her to out number the original child. Look at Brooke whatever her last name is she had twin boys with Chalie Sheen since he didn’t have boys or twins. Okay, I said it was bitchy but it is just something I think about sometimes.
