Jonny Lee Miller Welcomes “Buster Timothy Miller”

5th Annual Runway For Life - Arrivals

Bad baby names are a dime a dozen. But the bad baby name world gets rarefied when talking about celebrity babies. For every Apple, Pilot Inspektor or Denim, there is the occasional “Jack” or “Sarah”. Well, Jonny Lee Miller has seen Mowgli Bronx, and raised him a Buster Timothy. Which, all things considered, isn’t even the worst baby name this month. It actually made me smile because I thought of the character of Buster (played by Tony Hale) on Arrested Development.

Jonny Lee Miller of TV’s Eli Stone and his wife, actress Michele Hicks, have welcomed a son, his rep confirms exclusively to PEOPLE.

Buster Timothy Miller was born Wednesday in Los Angeles, weighing in at 9 lbs.

Miller, 36, and Hicks, 35, who has appeared on The Shield, were married earlier this year. This is their first child.

Unfortunately, all is not well for Miller. ABC failed to order any more episodes of Eli Stone, which is, in effect, a cancellation. I watched Eli Stone a couple of times because I’ve always been a fan of Miller and he was shirtless in a few episodes. But I daresay this cancellation doesn’t shock me – the stories were a little trite, the legal cases had no basis in *any* legal system, and the casting always seemed at odds. Maybe I’m just not a fan of Victor Garbor. Or of stunt-casting Katie Holmes. Here’s hoping that Miller will find work on a show or film project that actually meets his talents. And, by the way, isn’t it nice to have a story about a Brangelina ex-partner that isn’t dripping with bitterness?

    Buster is a cool name!

  2. geronimo says:

Sweet. I love Buster. After Buster Keaton? Buster Edwards (Great Train robber)? Buster Merryfield (kind of iconic British actor)? Anyway, congrats to them.

  3. sandy says:

buster will be 1 cute looking kid
and congrats on a healthy 9 pounder!
brad better keep his eyes on vivienne

  4. Kaiser says:

Geronimo, I was wondering if “Buster” was a family name? Or does it have any significance in England?

Sandy, good call. Buster and Vivienne would be lovely together in 18 years.

  5. Bodhi says:

Buster is super cute! I kinda liked Eli Stone, but it seriously lost its momentum…

  6. daisy424 says:

I watch both The Shield & Eli Stone.
I didn’t know that these two were married.

Congratulations on the new arrival. The name Buster is kinda cute. 😉

  7. MoJo says:

Buster is… well, it’s an odd choice, but for sure there’s been worst. I’m sure he’s a handsome little guy already, too.

Personally? I’m hoping for future playdates with Angelina’s kids since Jonny and Ange seem to have always been on really good terms.

  8. geronimo says:

K – those are the two most well-known British Busters I can think of – a train robber and a much loved actor. But it’s quite an unusual name to pluck out of the air so could well have family significance.

  9. Kaiser says:

Geronimo – Did you get Arrested Development in England? That was *literally* the funniest show *ever*, and I wouldn’t put it past one of AD’s lunatic fans to name their child after one of the characters. And Buster was the best, unless you want to name your child “George Micheal” or “GOB”! 😆

  10. Codzilla says:

Daisy: So it is Mara! I suspected, but wasn’t completely sure from the picture. My week has this gaping hole now that The Shield is over. So sad.

  11. ff says:

Nah, Buster isn’t a bad name. It’s a nickname as a name but it’s not up there in the ‘wtf’ categories of Pilot and Audio.

It’s more on the side of Scout or Ripley – an interesting choice, but workable.

  12. vdantev says:

Not a bad name – if it were 1922.

  13. lulu says:

i’m happy for him and he has a very sexy and good looking wife good for him, he seems like a nice guy, and i love his show.
btw buster is a very unique and nice name considering all the weird names i have heard so far.

  14. Kelly says:

This name isnt awful but anyone else notice he told Ellen Degenres(sp) that they had a normal name now that isnt weird but it sounds more like a dog name or a nickname
