Madonna plans to go to Malawai with A-Rod for second adoption

Madonna navigating with her sons

Despite reports that Madonna’s acrimonious divorce had permanently ruined any chance she had at adopting Malawian orphan Mercy James, the New York Daily News still claims she’s on her way to Malawi to bring the now four-year-old girl home – and she’s bringing boy toy/soul mate Alex Rodriguez with her.

A bitter divorce battle won’t stop Madonna from moving forward with plans to adopt another child. The “Material Mom” has reportedly signed paperwork to adopt a 4-year-old girl from Malawi – the home country of her adopted son David.

“She’s hoping to bring the toddler home by early next year,” a source told Star Magazine.

Madonna,50, will reportedly fly to Malawi with new companion Alex Rodriguez to pick up the girl, Mercy James, whose grandparents are unable to care for her.

“It breaks our hearts to know she will leave us, but adoption is best for her,” the girl’s grandfather said. Malawi had not permitted foreign adoptions until Madonna adopted David.

[From the Daily News]

Malawi’s own adoption officials said that they wouldn’t let Mercy go to a broken home, and Mercy’s family has long opposed her adoption by Madonna. Considering the Daily News’ source is Star – a tab well-known to make things up – I doubt this is true. If it does end up happening, I think it’ll be pretty clear that Madonna bought herself another kid.

Speaking of her family issues, Madge and A-Rod are going to England for Christmas. Madonna will spend the day with her kids and ex-husband Guy Ritchie – but he’s refused to let her spend the night. Not surprisingly, he can only take so much of Madonna.

MADONNA’S hopes for peace at Christmas have been shattered — after GUY RITCHIE banned her from staying at his house. Madge, 50, hoped they could put aside their differences for one day, to have a family celebration at the country mansion they used to share. They had agreed to put on a united front and make the day as normal as possible for children Lourdes, 12, Rocco, eight, and David, three.

But Guy, 40, has told his ex wife he doesn’t want her sleeping over at Ashcombe House in Wiltshire — and the plans are now up in the air. A source close to the couple said: “Guy is desperate to see the children on Christmas Day and was OK with them all spending the day at Ashcombe. He was even willing to have Madonna there and try to be civilised for the sake of the children. But having her stay over was just too much. He couldn’t bear the thought of her padding round the kitchen next morning like old times — there are too many sad memories.”

Madonna does not like the house, but was willing to spend Christmas there for the children’s sake. The source said: “It’s not as if she can stay in the B&B up the road. There’s nowhere suitable nearby. They’re trying to come to some sort of solution but they just can’t agree on anything — and it’s getting very late to organise. If one of them doesn’t back down, it could be a very unhappy Christmas. It seems they were a bit over optimistic to think they could call a truce.”

[From The Sun]

Guy even offered to fly to New York for Christmas so that he could stay in a hotel and avoid spending the night under the same roof as Madonna. But she refused, since they’ve been planning on going to England. A-Rod is going there with her, but he will remain at a London hotel while Madge goes to the English countryside for the day.

It sounds like it would be a great time for Madonna to actually learn the meaning of compromise. Guy offering to fly to New York for Christmas was very generous, and it makes all the sense in the world that he doesn’t want to sleep with his ex-wife under the same roof. It seems like this is the perfect time for Madonna to lower herself to sleeping in that unsuitable little bed & breakfast up the road.

Note by Celebitchy: There’s a new story covered by the NY Post that Madonna is having a “fling” with a Brazilian male model with whom she did a photo shoot for W. This story was e-mailed to me from a Brazilian website complete with a ton of photos of the guy. It really seems like someone made this up to get the guy publicity and I doubt it’s true.

Here’s Guy Ritchie looking quite happy on the set of ‘Sherlock Holmes’ in Greenwich, South London last Sunday. Header Madonna with son David in the Buenos Aires on December 9th. Images thanks to Splash.

Im not one to defend her roided up vadge, but WTF is the ” Orphans” family doing speaking to the press? When she adopted David his “real” family came out of the woodwork…. if you DONT want your kids to be taken, dont give them up for adoption. If you put them up for adoption, in an orphanage and someone adopts them – They no longer belong to you, STFU.

    Rant Over

Trying to adopt a child after a divorce that ended 1 second ago? Would an adoption agency in the US allow someone to do this? Does this sound like a good idea in the best interest of a child anywhere? I have so many questions….

As far as the original parents issue I’d have to agree with SeVen. Obviously the family is a broken home since they can’t seem to take care of this child. Granted I don’t believe Madge is ready to adopt again but the original parents need to shut up and let the people they entrusted their child to decide.

In many African countries, orphanages are the only option if nobody in the family can take care of a child – so it’s treated partially as foster care. Perhaps the family is hoping that at a later time they will have the means (or a relative will) to look after the child again. Or that it would at least grow up somewhere they can maintain a relationship. At least that’s the impression I’m getting. It makes perfectly clear why Angelina Jolie insisted on children that are complete orphans with no family left.

And if the Malawi officials let her adopt again, that would be shameful.

I can imagine Guy not wanting her over for the night, putting her controlling stamp on everything. Maybe he’s planning a cozy bedtime ritual alone with the kids. And of course she can stay in a B&B – she just won’t deign herself to…

Nice, another celebrity buying another kid.

  6. 88Modesty88 says:

We don’t know why the girl is being given up for adoption, but one thing is clear: her family cannot take care of her.
Malawi, like most of Africa, is extremely poor, so I’d think twice before I judge the girl’s family.

  7. Syko says:

I believe it’s common there when hard times fall upon you, to put children in an orphanage temporarily to make sure they are fed and taken care of, and when you get in better shape, you go get them out.

Can’t she find a child with no family? And why does she need more children, they’re like charms on a bracelet for her. She’s hardly the cuddly motherly type.

I don’t blame him for not wanting her to spend the night in his house. I wouldn’t want her in mine either.

  8. Leandra says:

All this stuff sounds like a bunch of desperation hogwash drummed up to generate some interest and boost sales to a sagging newspaper industry.

  9. Mairead says:

It is possibly likely that whilst the child was placed in an orphanage to make sure that she was at least clothed and fed, the family did not intend for her to be adopted out. Stuff like that used to happen in the Western World right up to the 1970s, so I don’t think it’s beyond the bounds of possibility here.

As for Madonna and Guy – I’m not convinced that they don’t also own a gate lodge on the property (it would be remarkably unusual for a small country house not to have at least one gate lodge, if not a gardener’s or gamekeeper’s lodge); fair enough if there’s someone else living there.

I’d say in the current economic climate, I’d say that a local estate agent would know of a suitable empty house for sale that would jump at the chance of renting it out for a week.

Why the hell isn’t A-Rod spending Christmas with HIS kids?

  11. A.J. says:

Great, now is there any chance we can leave her in Malawai?

  12. ccoop says:

Okay, so A-Rod is staying at a London hotel – why can’t Vadge stay with him? I’m sure her limo can make it from London to Wiltshire and back.

  13. breederina says:

Thinking the key here are the words “there’s nowhere suitable nearby “. Please, the British country side is rife with B&B’s and rentals. She’s just being a cow and once again making it all about herself. Big surprise.

  14. vdantev says:

Is there such a thing as addiction to control ?

  15. RReedy says:

Didn’t you just KNOW this was coming? I do hope David is as fussy and demanding as the mother.

  16. Lauri says:

SeVen: You are being awfully harsh. Don’t you think it breaks the hearts of the impoverished family that this whore wants to buy this child and take her away, above their objections?

I had a friend (now deceased many years) who lost his father as a child. His mother couldn’t support him and his siblings. She had no choice but to put them in an orphanage. There was no one there to help her keep her family together. She visited them all the time, and when things got better for her financially, she was able to bring them back to live with her.

Just because someone puts their children up for adoption due to extreme poverty doesn’t mean they don’t love their children. I think you attitude is a cruel one.

A better question would be, why doesn’t she adopt a child who really doesn’t have anyone? Surely there are many orphans in Malawi–and other places–that have no one at all. Why, if she MUST adopt another child, can she not adopt someone who truly needs a family?

Or, better yet, with her money, why doesn’t she invest in helping Malawi, instead of stealing children away from their families?

She is an ugly, evil, selfish person. I hope they are able to stop her.

  17. Lauri says:

Excellent point, codzilla. What kind of person is the guy if he’s willing to run off to England to spend Christmas with someone else’s children, instead of being with his own?

Sounds like the whore got herself a real winner here. Of course, she is absolutely no prize either, so no sympathy to her. I just feel sorry for ALL of the kids here. They are the ones who have to suffer through this crap.

Just a few more years and the “Madonna Dearest” books should be coming out.

  18. Trashaddict says:

All I want for Christmas is for Santa not to let this lady adopt again. Say Madge, why not give the same money you’d spend on the kid, to funding the orphanage so they can run the place until those with parents can get it together again? Novel concept?

  19. Trillion says:

why is she dressed like Eddie Vedder in 1991?

  20. anastasiabeaverhausen says:

She’s never really struck me as someone who has or adopts kids because she really loves them. I know that could be wrong, but I’ve just never gotten that vibe from her. So why the hell does she want to adopt ANOTHER?

  21. Codzilla says:

Lauri: Your story broke my heart. And it proves without a doubt that it’s really unfair to judge a family for putting their child in an orphanage. If my children were in danger of starving to death, or falling prey to the elements, I’d make that decision, too. It would devastate me, but not nearly as much as watching them die.

  22. aleach says:

@ trillion- please, lets not compare nasty madonna to the god that is eddie vedder. LOL! 😉

  23. RaraAvis says:

I don’t believe the whole Madonna/ARod relationship story. I don’t believe she’s planning to adopt. I don’t believe any of the Guy-Richie-won’t-let-her-stay-at-the-house story. Everything the blogs have reported about her since the divorce has been completely unsubstantiated. Most of it fluctuates 180° day to day. Some proof, please? A picture, a first-hand account? Something besides these “sources”?

  24. Shay says:

    RaraAvis:

“Everything the blogs have reported about her since the divorce has been completely unsubstantiated.”

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Not even the divorce? That was blogged for months and weeks before the announcement. All while Madge was trying to put on a show that all was good.

  25. LOL says:

Lauri, I agree with everything you said. What is with these celebrities? Why the need to go adopt children with living families (instead of giving money to the family) and not a TRULY orphaned child (ie: dead parents). It just makes me sick.

Instead of adopting this new child against the wishes of the family (if this story has any grain of truth), why not give that family the money /support it needs, and help another child?

People are SO transparent. They think their *very publicized* good deeds and adopting children like fashionable handbags, and all the rest absolves them of past deeds, past reputations, or inward guilt – IT DOES NOT. It’s just so pathetic and conniving and reeks of a really cynical nature.

I can only imagine what Guy put up with, and he looks happier and better than ever since the divorce! Good for him.

  26. Rosebudd says:

Madge likes to CONTROL everbody, everything & especially her children. She wants one more person in her household(s) to control. Plain & simple.

  27. Aindri says:

WHY DO COUNTRIES LET THESE MENTALLY UNSTABLE FIRST WORLD’ERS ADOPT CHILDREN WHEN ALL THESE BITCHES ARE WORRIED ABOUT IS THE BOTOX ON THEIR FACE?
