Saoirse Ronan looks really amazing in this Proenza Schouler – pics from a NYC screening of The Host last night. And does anyone else think she looks a bit like Evan Rachel Wood? Saoirse’s face is more angular, but still. [LaineyGossip]

Saorise is so stunning. I love her.

  2. Eve says:

She’s drop dead gorgeous — that face is exquisite!

Yes, she does look like Rachel-Wood, but her face being more angular gives her appearance a more exotic, unusual (yet elegant) aspect, non?

    Dress is lovely, too.

    • Miss M says:

Yeap! I am going to see “The Host” tomorrow just because of her.

Have you seen her in “The way back”? Gosh, I really liked that movie. Colin Farrell was great too!

      • Eve says:

That one with Colin Farrell and Ed Harris? I borrowed the DVD from a friend but haven’t watched it yet. I felt like it’d depress me a little (I’ve skipping depressing movies for a while), plus I’ve been really busy with college exams the last few weeks (like, REALLY busy).

But I will watch it for sure :).

      • Miss M says:

That one!!! I had edited my comment before I saw yours. I watched last year. Yeah, you need to be prepared for that movie.

        Ed Harris was fantastic too.

      • Eve says:

I know it’s sad (my friend told me so). I have no problems with watching depressing films, but lately I’ve been avoiding them.

P.S.: I had to confirm which movie you’re talking about because Brazilian titles, most of the time, have NOTHING to do with the original. It’s a mess, really. “The Way Back”, for instance, is called “The Path To Freedom” here.

  3. I'm Gonna Leave Soon says:

Quick question, are you guys off over Easter? Is it a public holiday over their, Friday or Monday? It is in NZ, no stores can open on Friday and Sunday along with no advertising on the telly or radio. Monday is also a holiday.

    • BooBooLaRue says:

Oddly enough the State of New Mexico gives their employees Good Friday off. That is the only state that I know that does that — keep in mind the separation of church and state… Other than that, no holidays here for Easter.

      • DeltaJuliet says:

Where I work, they used to give 1/2 a day off for Good Friday (years ago before I worked here). Then one year, there was an employee here who was Greek that complained about it, and they took the 1/2 day away. I don’t understand, who would complain about a day off, for whatever reason? They could give me 1/2 a day off for a Greek holiday and I’d be thrilled.

      • Britt says:

In Australia here. We have Good Friday and Easter Monday off. So nice to have a long weekend!!

      • Bryan says:

North Dakota has Good Friday off too.

    • wonderwoman21 says:

Depends what kind of job, as far as i know here in Arizona no extra days off are given for Easter. Some businesses close early on Easter Sunday, but it’s basically business as usual.

NZ sounds awesome. It’s hard to get everyone in my family together for holidays because there’s always somebody scheduled to work holidays.

    • I'm Gonna Leave Soon says:

But there’s still chocolate right? Easter egg’s and such?

      • cr says:

Oh, yes, lots and lots of chocolate and all that very religious stuff like pastel colored eggs.

I remember planning a trip to NZ (that sadly never happened) and I think the last weekend there was supposed to be the GF/Easter weekend, and remembered that most everything is shut down then and thought ‘I’m going to have to move the trip up a week’

    • trillian says:

Germany has friday AND monday off. Plus no partying of any kind allowed on friday … suckiest holiday of the year.

  4. TheOriginalKitten says:

She has that ethereal quality a la Miss Blanchette and Miss Swinton.

    Lucky bitch.

  5. Amy says:

So pretty and classy. To me she looks like a cross between Diane Kruger and Evan Rachel Wood here.

  6. Miss M says:

She is on my ” Even if I want to hate you, I can’t” list.

  7. Sachi says:

She looked ‘unreal’ in HANNA, like out-of-this-world-pretty and her white-blond hair, pale skin, blue eyes made her look like she was practically glowing in every scene.

Her face is not something you forget. IMO she has a haunting quality to her looks like Cate Blanchett. Also naturally pretty like Marion Cotillard.

  8. shelley says:

Firstly, who? Why have I never heard of her? Secondly, meh! She looks like an ordinary pale white girl. She is not pretty at all.

    • amilu says:

      http://bit.ly/14yNSdk

Meh yourself! With those eyes, she hardly looks ordinary.

    • Marigold says:

This pale white girl says “ouch”.

    • Apples says:

Yeah, ouch. Another pale white girl here.
Our path is hard enough, maybe keep your put downs to things people can change/work on. I can’t even go in the sun to get a tan. Don’t assume I would EVER choose this skin tone.

      • Michelle says:

I certainly would chose it! I am naturally pale, and if I could be even more pale, I would be. I think it is beautiful, and so do many other people.

      • jc126 says:

Don’t feel apologetic or explain about your skin tone to some idiot who would make such a dumb remark. Just be yourself and proud. I’m super-pale, too, but I won’t criticize myself.

    • paranormalgirl says:

I don’t mind being pale. *shrugs*

    • amilu says:

I’m also very, very pale. And I’ll keep it that way, thankyouverymuch. I look younger than many of my peers because of it. For “ordinary” white girls, color is overrated. Pale is pretty.

Look at Saoirse there. She’s practically glowing! I guess you would prefer Lindsay Lohan’s stained hands or Chelsea Handler’s premature(?) wrinkles from tanning? Or maybe your issue is race related? It’s ok — you can admit it if that’s the case.

  9. Lucy2 says:

She is very pretty, and talented. The color is great on her but I instantly thought “seatbelt!”

  10. Eve says:

Was so focused on her face that I didn’t notice her awesome shoes at first. I’m in love with them.

  11. fleurthefrenchy says:

She looks amazing in a very unique kind of way… I know she’s still very young and relatively new to the film making industry, but when I look at her I get the same feelings as when I look at Kate Blanchett. There’s something very ethereal in both ladies, that I can’t help but admire.

  12. DeltaJuliet says:

I didn’t “know” about Jenna Wolfe, but when I saw that yesterday I wasn’t surprised.

  13. I Choose Me says:

Re: IDLYTW. The writer’s description of an episode of Game of Thrones is hilarious. (imo)

  14. Aurelia says:

This girl was incredible in The Lovely Bones.

Anyhoo, I am in NZ and we may get Good Friday and Easter Monday off but we have the least public holidays of any developed nation. Arhh, we are such hard workers!

    • i'm french don't kill me says:

i hate her in LOVELY BONES (i hate everyone in this movie except the older sister)
the blue of her eyes is the blue of her dress and she has some beautiful blue eyes

    • lucy2 says:

Love that article – “It may have been a gift from the FX Network”…yeah, I don’t think so.
Wonder who she stole those lips from, because those things sure aren’t natural.

    • Eve says:

Oh, dear…Brazilians do love some sub-celebrities.

I feel so much second-hand embarrassment right now :(.

  16. Christina says:

I don’t think Saoirse is drop dead gorgeous, but she has a face you just can’t take your eyes off. She sort of reminds me of a young Jolie Richardson. In fact, her face is so interesting that I only just now noticed that her dress is fugly. But who cares?

  17. liz_bee says:

I don’t like her shoes, but the dress (and her FACE) is lovely.

  18. Ruffian9 says:

Love Proenza Schouler, love the shoes, love her talent. It’s a win all ’round!

  19. thinkaboutit says:

Pretty, but I don’t get the fuss in this thread. She’s regular with beautiful eyes. And why is no one complaining that she needs to brush/style her hair like in every other article featuring a disheveled looking red-carpet attendee??

Also, I have no idea who she is…

    • MisJes says:

Most notably she played Briony (Keira Knightley’s younger sister) in Atonement and Susie Salmon in The Lovely Bones.

I cannot WAIT to see her in Mary Queen of Scots! It should be amazing!

    • amilu says:

The wind is obviously blowing her hair in these photos. You can hardly judge someone for their disheveled hair when they’re standing outside on a windy day.

  20. Camille (TheOriginal) says:

I adore her face (have done so for a long time). And I hope she has a great career because I think she is a great little actress and is also very charming in interviews. Give me Saoirse over the JLaws and Hathaways of this world any day.

  21. Adrien says:

I always thought that she looks like a young Chloe Sevigny or a young Kim Cattrall especially in Lovely Bones. She looks lovely.

  22. A Fan says:

    There’s depth in those eyes…

  23. PrissySissy says:

She’s is so gorgeous and naturally beautiful and a fabulous actress. I loved her in Hannah.

  24. bettyrose says:

You know what we used to call acid washed mom-jeans when I was in high school? Jeans.

  25. Anon says:

She has eyes just like Paris Hilton.

  26. Jordan says:

@Anon: Yes!….this!. Anyway, she’s a good actress but hasn’t blown me away yet.

  27. NEENAZEE says:

Yes re: ERW but much better skin…

  28. Mazunte says:

I think this girl is one of the next “big things” in the movie world.

  29. F5 says:

    Looks like kids’ movie..

  30. Janet says:

Question: How do you pronounce her name?

  31. TheOriginalWaffle says:

Saoirse is the next Cate Blanchett, I hope!

    Janet – it’s “SEERsha.”

  32. Mari says:

She is everything at what KStew fails miserably
