Gwyneth Paltrow is People Mag’s ‘Most Beautiful Person’ for 2013: OMG?

OMG. I’m usually surprised by who ultimately gets named People Magazine’s “Most Beautiful Person” in any given year, but this year I’m really stunned. I would not have even considered Gwyneth to be a contender. I’m not Mean-Girling her beauty, I’m just saying that Gwyneth rubs a lot of people the wrong way and she’s an unapologetic snob and elitist. How is that cohesive with People Magazine’s demographics? But I guess it makes sense – People Mag has been choosing women in their 30s and 40s lately, and Gwyneth is a mom, she’s in the mothering business now and she’s deigning to talk down to peasant-level. So maybe this is her reward. Plus, they made her have a side-part for the cover!!!!!!!!!! You can see Goop’s People video here and here’s the article:

She may be PEOPLE’s 2013 Most Beautiful Woman but Gwyneth Paltrow insists her kids, Apple, 8, and Moses, 7, don’t see her as anything but mom.

“Around the house, I’m in jeans and a T-shirt. I don’t really wear makeup. That’s what they’re used to,” she says. As for her husband, Chris Martin, “He’ll make a joke about it. If I’ve gotten fully dressed up, he’ll be like, ‘Oh, wow! You’re Gwyneth Paltrow!’ Because he’s used to seeing me in like baggy shorts and frizzy hair.”

And Paltrow wouldn’t have it any other way. With her second cookbook, It’s All Good, debuting at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list and her next film, Iron Man 3, hitting theaters on May 3, Paltrow credits her workout routine for keeping her looking youthful and less tired.

“It makes me look younger and feel strong,” says the actress, who does the Tracy Anderson Method five days a week. “When I first started, I thought, ‘I’ll never be good at this. This is a nightmare!’ But now it’s like brushing my teeth, I just do it.”

More importantly, she hopes to instill a good body image in both her kids, especially now that her daughter is starting to become interested in things like makeup. “When we’re home sometimes, she’ll put on mascara. And sometimes I’ll let her wear something out to dinner – but just a little dab,” she says.

“Also having a father who adores you the way that he adores her is very good for your body image. The more we can love her and let her be who she is, the more confident she’ll feel.”

For more of Paltrow’s exclusive interview – in which she opens up about her marriage and family, shares beauty tips and sets the record straight on all the rumors – pick up this week’s special issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday

[From People]

Yeah. I think the important thing is that Gwyneth was OPEN to it, and she’s open to shilling (discussing in detail) her kids and her marriage these days. If you’re going to be People’s Most Beautiful, you have to talk about your family. That’s part of the deal. I guess it’s brilliant timing for Goop too, what with her cookbook being released a few weeks ago and Iron Man 3 coming out in a few weeks. We are in the midst of a Goop Renaissance.

Other ladies who made People’s “Most Beautiful” list/are featured in the issue: Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer Lawrence, Kelly Rowland, Halle Berry, Drew Barrymore, Jane Fonda, Zooey Deschanel, Gabrielle Union, Kerry Washington and Pink. You can see People’s full “Most Beautiful” package here.

    LOL!

    • marie says:

      ha!, total butt kiss move

    • bns says:

      I know, right?

    • BB says:

Wow!! I’m always surprised about who makes the cover, never would’ve thought Gwyneth.

      • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

From the pic, it almost looks like Leslie Mann. Major let down upon the realization that it is in fact Goop. Sorry for the insult, Les.

    • Miss Kiki says:

As if she wasn’t Gwynsufferable enough.

    • Meredith says:

So who did her publicist pay off for this to happen? I mean, she’s an attractive woman but the most beautiful in the world? Not really. Blame it on the baby boomers – everything is being aimed at an older demographic now.

      • Samihami says:

Hey now! Don’t go blaming us! There are plenty of women over 40 that would be a far better pick than goopy. If you want to blame someone, blame the folks at People that apparently allowed her publicist to buy them off!

      • BooBooLaRue says:

Ouch Meredith! LOL you’ll be old before you know it. I’m just saying. Have you considered the woman PAYS for GOOD PR?

      • DeltaJuliet says:

Aren’t the baby boomers in like, their 60’s now? I don’t they can take the blame for Ms. Paltrow over here.

      • Grape Ape says:

Goop? Give me a break. Her mother is more beautiful than she is.

      • bluhare says:

Hey, don’t blame us for this. A beautiful woman can be any age, and as long as she IS beautiful then she deserves the title.

      • Becky1 says:

Gwyneth isn’t a Baby Boomer, she’s a Gen X-er. The last of the Baby Boomers were born in 1964 and Gwyneth was born in 1972.

Gen X is actually a small generation. The Baby Boomers and the Millenials are much larger cohorts.

    • V4Real says:

Ok who she paid off? This bitch head is really going to explode now.
I can just hear Goop; I maybe the most hated but I’m beautiful damn it.
My subscription to People expired right on time.

    • Marty says:

I’m so Gooped out, it’s not even funny any more.

    • Queenfreddie says:

Ha ha. Her PR guy or lady is good!

      • CL says:

Isn’t her publicist Steven Huvane, the same man behind J Aniston’s constant barrage of publicity? He’s GOOD.

      • Eve says:

        @ CL:

Aniston was voted (by Men’s Health Magazine readers) the “Sexiest Woman of all Time” in an online poll two years ago, if I’m not wrong.

I LOL’ed back then as well.

      • Anna says:

Yeah, ok, but the list of really ‘Great Beauties’ who are also A-listers is really NOT that long and it ends up being repetitive. I think JLo AND Halle have been on it. Vergara isnt A-list. Should we have Angelina every year? Or Kidman? Or Portman (@Eve – not trolling, whatever her acting or personal merits I think she is stunning)? Models dont really count for People Mag, the VS Angels line-up is mostly out.

      • Eve says:

        @ Anna:

You don’t have to justify your appreciation of Portman’s beauty. I will never (as I have never done that so far) question that — I know she’s beautiful, I can see that in spite of despising her guts.

I’ve said on that infamous thread and some others that I’m neither blinded by hatred nor love (you see, I even find Ticky Paticky pretty) so…don’t worry.

      • Anna says:

        @Eve

Ha, fair enough. I WAS green with envy re: Wagon’s looks, till I saw the video about just how MUCH work she has done and continues to deny. I mean, 10 yrs ago she was a different person! But the post-baby bod tho…that’s all her and it’s all amazing. GR.

Also, I would add AnneH to the potential most-beautiful list. She is legit A-list, established career, and I really like her look. Plus she (and Hiddles) are my spirit animals. Basically I love them so much bc they get screwed for exhibiting some the worst aspects of my own character, so I ‘get’ them.

  2. brin says:

Ugh…as if she isn’t insufferable enough!

  3. neelyo says:

    Congrats to Paltrow’s publicist!

  4. kristine says:

    Are you effing kidding me?!

  5. virginia5 says:

    is this a joke?

    • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

Well it was Reece, but they had to pull her last second and Gwyneth was their runner up.

  6. Anaya says:

WTH is People magazine thinking? Horrible choice.

    • Jules says:

They did it on purpose. They know Goop is hated, there is no such thing as bad publicity.

  7. Nev says:

we will never hear the end of this now….wow.

    • brin says:

Yep…next will be GOOP Skincare line.

      • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

lol it already exists..I got a pack of 12 trial moisturizers from Sephora about 2 yrs ago and “Goop” SPF, oil-free was one of them. Sadly, bc I hate they are supporting her line.

  8. GoodCapon says:

Thanks for the laugh People Mag!

I doubt she’s even the most beautiful person in their street in London.

  9. Eleonor says:

Ok,how much did her pr pay for this??

  10. Jane says:

She has a movie and book to promote, she gave an interview, and has a great publicist. Very similar to the sexiest man alive title. People is very easily bought, so this is not a surprise or it shouldn’t be.

    • LL says:

mte. She is one of the most plainest, basic and boring woman in the business. But she’s on the front cover of a magazine about being the “Most Beautiful Person” just b/c gave an interview.

You also can thank her management/PR people for also getting her this deal.

      • Isa says:

Yeah, I’ve never thought of Gwyneth as beautiful. Granted I’ve never actually seen any of her films except Avengers which she wasn’t in much. So maybe she looks better on film than in pictures, but seriously I have always thought of her as kinda plain, especially by hollywood standards. Well put together (most of the time), maybe even elegant, certainly well maintained and expensively groomed. But beautiful? NO.

    • don't kill me i'm french says:

      +1

    • tracking says:

      yep

  11. Maria says:

    Sigh

  12. spaniard says:

Love it! hahahaha, How many vitriol will come after that? that’s the best part.

  13. Faye says:

ROTFL. I can just see the follow-up interview about it now: “I was so flattered and surprised! When I heard the news about being The Most Beautiful Woman Ever, I was visiting with my good friends Jay and Bey, and they told me I shouldn’t be shocked at all. After all, as they said, I have the butt of a 22-year-old stripper and the figure of a Grecian goddess and the hair of an old used straw broom . . .”

Okay, that last part might have been me. Seriously, though, this is hilarious. Gwyneth the most beautiful person? Okay . . .

    • Arock says:

I know, right. Will it ever end? Next she’ll have her people naming her a living saint- Mary Squats Ignatious- patron saint of the lower body work out, gluten free desserts and all actress under 30.

      • DeltaJuliet says:

        Yay! This was awesome 🙂

      • PinkyTuscadero says:

mary squats. nice name. i wonder if apple will use it as her confirmation name when she shows up to the church with an eating disorder and all made up like a hooker at 13. oh wait. she’s a kabbalist. bulimia-themed bat mitzvah, maybe?

    • Norman Bates' Mother says:

Good one. Another likely quote: “My friend Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio called to congratulate me and said I looked as young and thin as his new girlfriend, whom he recently ordered from the Victoria’s Secret catalogue. I bashfully replied it’s all due to the anti-meat seed he planted in me 20 years ago. My other great fiend William Joel is already writing a song about my beauty. He wanted to call it “Gwyneth” but I said it’s not necessary, you flatterer, you. “The Most Beautiful Girl In The World” will do just fine.”

  14. Miss Kiki says:

    Shut.The.Back.Door!

    • j.eyre says:

And the front one as well.

Mr. Rochester’s reaction: “further proof the title is bought”

      • Miss M says:

        @j.eyre and Miss Kiki: Hahahahaha

As I am one of the few ones here who likes Goop, I wonder if she is celebrating drinking cristal or if she is not celebrating at all because she knew this was true, haha.

@Kaiser: Love me some Goop: “We are in the midst of a Goop Renaissance.” Yeahhhhhhhh! Go Goop! 🙂

  15. bns says:

I hope no one actually takes these lists seriously. It’s all PR.

  16. Kaye says:

Okay. Naming Bradley Cooper as the sexiest man in the world put People’s credibility on the critical list, but this landed the fatal blow.

    • Esmom says:

Haha, so true. Still I’m one of the seemingly very few who doesn’t hate Goop. I’m also thinking she won’t make a huge deal of this since it is clearly so rigged.

    • paranormalgirl says:

So we had Coop and Goop.

    • Itsa Reallyme says:

      Right?

It’ll be interesting to see how many copies they sell. I can’t see people running out to buy this issue.

  17. Mia 4S says:

This are arranged by publicists so it’s an obvious choice (along with Halle image rehab). No shock. I’m still stunned by the number of people who don’t realize that all these lists are PR arrangements. How scary is it that you walk around with people everyday who think these lists are sincere? LOL!

  18. Kiki says:

I think People magazine is going to lose a lot of subscribers because of this move.

    • Esmom says:

That seems a little extreme. I’m sure they’re losing subscribers like all magazines are but it’s hard to imagine Goop being the final nail in the coffin.

      • Susie (1 of 3) says:

When I saw this cover, the first thing I thought was I won’t be buying People Magazine again.

      • Esmom says:

I said that a long time ago about People, although I can’t remember what pushed me over the edge.

  19. 2000 says:

Is this a belated April Fool`s joke? I wouldn`t call her beautiful much less the `most beautiful woman`… Come on! Why is the media torturing us with Paltrow and the Kardashians?

  20. insomniac says:

LMAO! Next year’s cover girl: LeAnn Rimes.

  21. Deb says:

People hadn’t had any cred for at least 10 years so this is nothing to be surprised about. Goop was the highest bidder that’s all

  22. NerdMomma says:

Her interview excerpt was nauseating. First of all, no kidding her kids just think of her as mom. Kids are generally not impressed by their mother’s looks, they care about being taken care of. Second, if she wants her daughter to have a healthy body image, she’ll stop endlessly obsessing over her own body. She’s setting an example.

    • Serena says:

I feel sorry for Gwenny’s mother; she’s the real talent in the family. I once read or heard Gwen say, that she didn’t cut her hair for years, because the hair was on her head, while her father was still alive. Gimme a break! She hardly ever mentions her mother in an interview and when she does, it’s almost, always, a backhanded compliment. I have always thought Gwen Paltrow was very overrated as an actress. And the snob factor is off the charts. Shame on you, People magazine!!

  23. Mindy says:

Hey… whatever the staff at People Magazine are now smoking on a regular basis – I want. If it makes Goopy the ‘Most Beautiful Woman’ alive, it must be some powerful hallucenagenic shit.

    • Eve says:

      LMAO!

      This thread looks promising :D.

    • TheyPromisedMeBeer says:

You know, I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say they haven’t been smoking anything over at People. My guess is that they’ve been testing out Gwyneth’s cookbook and have been too hungry and nutrient deprived to make a coherent decision.

  24. birdy says:

Right cause her ego needs this…. She will be even more insufferable.

  25. Nicolette says:

Oh please! There are so many truly beautiful women out there, and she is not one of them.

  26. oce says:

I think GP is a great choice! Glad that it is someone more mature, and not some thrashy tween. If everyone is honest about this, people fall into 3 camps regarding Goop: people like her, aspire to her way of life, or are maybe a teeny bit jealous of her.

    • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

      Troll alert.

      • Anna says:

I know that there’s a lot of GOOP-hate going on right now (and I am fairly indifferent about her one way or another, but I do find all the Gooping rather entertaining), but I do think it’s ironic that saying something nice about the subject of the post is generating a ‘troll alert’. Unless *you* meant it ironically in the first place…

      • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

@ Anna – I was not being ironic. LOL. I think it is VERY trollish to say “If everyone is honest about this, people fall into 3 camps regarding Goop: people like her, aspire to her way of life, or are maybe a teeny bit jealous of her.”

That is not nice. That is flat out laughable, and therefore begging for attention.

      • BeesKnees says:

Anna, I think the three camps thing was purposely condescending and meant to get a rise out of people… so yeah trolling 🙂 You can defend a celebrity without putting everyone who doesn’t like them down or assuming things about them (i.e. calling them jealous or haters). I used to actually love me some Goop in the late 90s/early 00s. Great Expectations, Shakespeare in Love, Seven, The Royal Tenebaums (loved her sooo much in that), Shallow Hal, Sliding Doors, Emma… I loved all these roles. Heck I even liked the Pallbearer, Hush (so bad it’s good), Duets and A View From the Top (another so bad it’s good flick). I liked that she kept her children out of the spotlight and they were very rarely photographed. And then, she had to start goop and give her bizarre elitist interviews and it seems like she dug her claws into that Pepper Potts role and and is holding onto relevancy for dear life. I don’t hate Goop, but I want someone to smack her Cher in Moonstruck style and yell “snap out of it!” Now we are being saturated with goop and her elitism has been taken to new levels and her insecurities are starting to show. She has become a ridiculous caricature of the woman she once was. I don’t hate goop, but I don’t particularly like her too much either. All celebrities are out of touch, but she takes the cake these days.

      • Anna says:

        @Bees

Ok I see your point about the condescension. I generally hate the ‘you’re jealous’ argument when it comes to celebs, because that would mean that we’d be inclined to hate pretty much every single celeb out there – not pick and choose – because they are all rich, famous, successful, and most likely more attractive than most of us peasants.

(Also there are plenty of celebs of whom I am TOTALLY jealous and also totally love: Miranda Kerr, Emma Watson, Catherine Z-J, Jolie and Hathaway sometimes (that’s right)). The only celebs I am jealous of in a ‘bad’/hate-y way are the ones dating or married to my imaginary husbands.)

As for GOOP…yeah she’s an out of touch snob but that doesnt really bug me as much as most people. I do a half-smile eyeroll and move on.

Finally, re: celebs being out of touch: Yeah. They are. But if they were normal folks, just like us, we’d have nothing to snark on and lose a big source of our daily entertainment 🙂

    • V4Real says:

@OCE It’s not like People Mag haven’t put mature women on their cover before. Let’s not forget JLow, Halle Berry, Julia Roberts, Christina Applegate and Jennifer Anniston were all in their 40’s when they made the list. Angelina Jolie was in her 30’s so was Drew Barrymore. Beyonce didn’t wear the crown until she was 30. This is all PR garbage anyways and holds no true value but People Mag is not known for naming tweeners as the Most Beautiful so that was a moot statement.

Now let’s face it; not many people aspire to be like Gwen as you are implying; she has become the running joke in Hollywood. Even her friend RDJ jokingly as it may have seem took a shot at her. It’s not a jealousy thing either. There are tons of other celebrity women that are way more interesting and beautiful then Gwen. Angie for instance, Diane Lange, Halle Berry, Kate Beckinsale, Olivia Wilde, Emily Blunt and Sofia Vergara just to name a few. The difference is that these women have not become insufferable like Gwen or A. Hathaway. If I’m going to be jealous of a celebrity it wouldn’t be Goop, it would be one of the women I mentioned above who out shines Gwen in every way possible. Yes, even Halle with her crazy ass.

Every time Gwen opens her mouth all I hear is bull_hit; who would be jealous of that. She contradicts herself a lot; her husband stays on tour I’m betting because he finds her insufferable as well and she tries to hard to make the public like her which has backfired on her rich, snobby perfect stripper ass.

      • oce says:

Um, V4Real, this sounds very personal to you… But anyways, About the cover – just was commenting that when I now pass the magazine stand, the gossip rags often have some trashy tween on the cover, which is so boring (b/c I don’t know any of them, but maybe I am old now?) Quite impressive knowledge of past People covers!

      • Anna says:

Beckinsale would have been a GREAT choice (she’s effing DIVINE looking AND has an Oxford degree), but she’s become firmly B-list lately.

      • bluhare says:

Oce: That was one of the most condescending, patronising posts I’ve read for a while.
Someone took the time to post a rebuttal to yours and you post a sh-t reply like that?

You posted something that runs counter to what everyone else is saying, so you must have expected some flack for it. Having a bad morning so you need to slam people for rebutting it?

    • V4Real says:

@oce you said that you are glad that it’s Goop on the cover and not some trashy teen; you never mentioned that you meant other mag covers. Are you now contradicting yourself the way Goop does? I understand that you are one of Gwyn’s apologist but I can’t stand the woman and it’s not personal. Why when people on this site don’t like a celebrity their apologist have to assume it’s jealousy or something personal. I don’t know her personally but she comes off a bit snobbish, unrealistic and fake as hell. She’s a walking breathing example of a tireless self- promoter with an air of entitlement about her.

I can appreciate your sarcasm but those past cover holders was to let you know that it’s nothing new that People Mag put mature women on the cover and not teens as you were assuming.

      • AmyLynne says:

I’m totally with you V4Real. I cannot stand Goop. It is personal to me because I am a woman and her entire message of “I’m so much better than you” is harmful to women (and babies, and men, and everyone else- but especially women). And she’s not beautiful! Sorry. When she was young she was only cute. Now she’s thin and aging rapidly because she’s too thin. She talks endlessly about toxic this and that- well, GOOP- YOU are what’s toxic around here.

    • annie says:

@oce – are you kidding me? only 3 camps & all involved some sort of like?

4th camp: Do not like Goop and think she is a so-so actress. The only movie I really like her in was The Anniversary Party. And she was the drug-pusher. lol

  27. Sara says:

Really? Do celebs campaign for this title? I mean I think she is still really pretty but world’s most beautiful? I think not…

  28. mkyarwood says:

    BAH.

  29. JudyK says:

    GAG me.

  30. EmmaStoneWannabe says:

Lets see, what did we learn here…
    1. Cookbook
    2. Iron Man 3
    3. Tracy Anderson

Yeah this makes perfect sense now.
Now excuse me while I huff off …ughhhh!!!!!!!!!!

  31. Kate says:

    Ugh.

  32. TXCinderella says:

She is a pretty woman, but I wouldn’t call her beautiful. Beauty also comes from within and she is just too snooty. She does look good for her age though.

  33. Emily says:

Err.. pretty? Sure.. but also pretty plain… I wouldn’t go out and say beautiful…
But that’s the only quality these days.. ‘beautiful’ whether warranted or not.

  34. Cinnamon says:

is she even relevant? she has a bit part in iron man series that literally ANY female actor could have done and she well, goops. blah. people is just a PR megaphone anyway

  35. Samigirl says:

Lawd. I guess I won’t be continuing my subscription to People Mag.

  36. Paloma says:

I wonder how much she paid People mag?

  37. Leah says:

Next year its The Beautiful Aniston, oh wait, there was backlash when she bought the hottest woman ever title last year.

  38. Quinn says:

SNORT. She doesn’t look particulary healthy, nevermind beautiful. That is not the skin and hair of a healthy woman.

And, photoshopping her back to 1999 isn’t really a fair representation of Goopy 2013.

  39. poppy says:

i was wrong in thinking being the most hated celeb would be her last time at #1 in anything.
stephen huvane is an evil genius.

  40. EmmaStoneWannabe says:

The only choices that would have been equally redic as this are Halle Berry, Kim K, He-Haw Rimes, and Vic Ionlylookatfood Beckham…none of these women are deserving to be admired for their beauty.

What about someone interesting who is actually nice and likeable? Adele? Penelope Cruz? Naomi Watts? Cate Blanchett? Julianne Moore? Amy Adams? I mean. Come. On.

    • lucy2 says:

They’d all be much better, but thinking about it, I bet none of them would do it, because they’re all about their work, not self promotion. Can you see Cate Blanchett agreeing to a cover?

      • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

No lol..I guess those are pipe dreams.

      • MisJes says:

Plus none of them are desperate, egotistical and, above all, lame enough to buy a BS title from a tabloid.

      • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

@MisJes – very true. It’s just sad what the title has resorted to. It used to really uphold a genuine, beautiful person.

  41. DIANE says:

You have got to be kidding me. All those fresh faces out there and they choose this magpie??? She’s starting to look more like Kimmy K every day..in spirit, at least. She is no longer amusing. She has gone from being a nuisance to somebody I’m actively starting to dislike. Hey there, Gwyn, nobody in the real world likes you. You stink as an actress AND a singer. Your ‘advice’ is obviously meant for your equally ignorant rich friends. I’d like to squash her like a bug on my windshield and have done with it.

  42. Suze says:

LOL, excellent move by whoever does her PR. I applaud.

She does look good (and young!) in that cover photo.

  43. Mar says:

    Yuck!!!!

  44. babythestarsshinebright says:

I’m embarrassed for her cause we all know this is a lie.

  45. Arock says:

Dammit. We’ll never hear the end of it. The next 30 yrs every statement will be punctuated with, “…the year I was the most beautiful in all the land.”

  46. lucy2 says:

Man, she is on one intense publicity push. It’s kind of pathetic because it’s only going to bring more articles like this. The collective response will probably “WTF? Ugh, Goop.”

  47. Anna says:

I am not a GOOP fan really, but actually I don’t mind this. The woman does look amazing, despite (or maybe thanks to?) all her mildly psychotic eating/drinking/lifestyle habits. She also still looks natural despite admittedly dabbling in a range of cosmetic procedures. Plus it’s kind of nice after that that ‘most hated’ thing.

    • TG says:

I agree with Anna. I am surprised at all the hate thrown Goop’s way. I guess she is obnoxious but I don’t have a passionate hate of her bit we all have our reasons for hating or loving a celeb so I get it.

    • Thais says:

I’m always surprised when I read most people opinion about her. maybe it’s because I only really know her from a documentary about Spanish food she did with a chef, and she seemed truly nice and the fact that she could speak Spanish made the locals like me quite surprised as it’s not common with Americans actors.

  48. ccinkissimmee says:

I love that it says “plus 152 fresh faces” underneath.. boom!

  49. JL says:

    No just NO!

I’d vote for her mother, but Gwen – hell no. That smirk is enough to ruin her looks.

  50. BooBooLaRue says:

    The b*tch has publicity MACHINE!

  51. Aud says:

    F@^^#%$$&#*U#UE&$&$Y#!!!!
It’s called paying the editorial team of a magazine. They can deny it until they die, but I don’t believe it.
I’m sick of her and her Aryan Queen look.

  52. Lulu.T.O. says:

Aww, they threw her a bone. Poor Gwynnie, the most hated celeb of the year. Damage control big time, but this is only going to backfire.

    • Serena says:

Yes! I forgot @ her being voted the most hated person in Hollywood. This “People” magazine, PR move, was definitely trying to take the sting out of that. The trouble is, now, the “Most Beautiful Person in the World” title will only serve to make people hate her even more. Ruh-Roh..

    • Tiffany says:

Or her seperation announcement is coming and Paltrow promised them an exclusive interview.

  53. dcypher1 says:

They should of picked jlaw for the cover but I dont think she has anything to promote.

  54. Madpoe says:

It’s always the same damn people on these lists!

  55. scarlett says:

This was my laugh for the morning. Her publicity machine is obviously working overtime to combat the fact that she’s the most hated celeb. What can you say..money talks and People has always been nothing but a PR-driven corporate shill.

  56. Cody says:

It just goes to show you that people magazine top anything is a joke and they are influenced by advertisers and publicists. I definitely won’t buy the issue, but I will find a long check out line and read it for a good laugh.

  57. JL says:

Most beautiful PERSON? Obviously they aren’t counting the TOTAL person.

She’s attractive enough but the rest is seriously lacking!

  58. moon says:

I don’t buy that line about Goop being relatable, AT ALL.

That said, I don’t hate Goop. I’m envious of her, but I don’t hate her the way I hate Anne Hathwaway. AnnE tries too hard. Goops is so effortless. You can’t hate her for her money and lifestyle! I mean, I want whatever she’s having

  59. PinkyTuscadero says:

hey, i just noticed that it refers to her “timeless beauty” and beneath her pic is “152 fresh faces.” fresh faces, ha! way to point out her age and irrelevance, people magazine. you think there’s a cb fan writing the cover copy?

  60. evyn says:

Seriously, I was expecting it to be the forever overexposed Beyonce. Katie Holmes, maybe. But I think that pity train has left its station.

  61. the original bellaluna says:

Neither she nor Halle Berry belong on that list, due to their internal ugliness!

  62. Yelly says:

Disgusting. She is not beautiful on the inside or the outside. Shame on People.

  63. Anne says:

Oh, for the love of Pete. Before we know it, she’ll be throwing around the title like there’s no tomorrow and how as “the most beautiful woman”, we really should take all of her Goopy tips seriously. Yuck.

  64. DailyNightly says:

Well, now we know why this pretentious twat charges so much for the crap she schills on her site. Gotta pay off “People” for this “honour”(British spelling, please).

  65. Jayna says:

Her face on the magazine is very fresh and youthful, like Gwyneth at 30 and like her hair used to look, thicker and healthier Her real face is thinner and lined. Her real face is pretty enough, but not the most beautiful by any stretch of the imagination. And her real hair without a photoshoot is straggly and/or damaged.

  66. roxy750 says:

WTF they just named her #1 annoying/hated celebrity and now she is the most beautiful, For the love of God!!! Enough of this woman!

  67. janie says:

Wonder what the criteria is? I’m a little surprised? Let’s face it.. She is everywhere right now, maybe she was campaigning all along?

  68. djork says:

Why, it’s an insult to everyone in the world with some character in their face!

  69. I guess emaciated and skinny is oh so beautiful. Not in my world.

  70. andy says:

Her mother Blythe Danner deserves the title more than Goop.

    • Serena says:

I agree with you. Blythe Danner is a gorgeous, timeless beauty. I just loved her comedic, acting chops in “Meet the Parents”.

    • Deedee says:

IMO, ms. Paltrow at times looks lovely and at other times, she looks quite pedestrian. Witherspoon does nothing for me. I used to think Megan Fox was gorgeous, but now she seems to have lost some of her appeal. Many of the models out there are more beautiful than Paltrow by far, also.

  71. lisa2 says:

    I am ROTFLMAO…

Shocked.. because I thought they were going to pick Jennifer Lawerence. I guess the promotion for Iron Man is bigger then an Oscar win.

Won’t be buying this or any issue of People

    Lamey is in heaven.

  72. PHD gossip says:

What is interesting to me is that Reese is nowhere on the cover. I sense an exclusive coming up. With Interview.

  73. jamee draper says:

They use the same white women every year. And they throw in Halle and Beyonce for diversity.Every.year.It is one of the reasons I canceled People.Watch next year the most beautiful woman is going to be shock! Jessica Simpson. And Jessica is going to do the same interview about how wondeful and terrific it is to be a mom when you’re famous and filthy rich.Goop beautiful? right. For someone who admits they live on vitamins, water and cigarettes, she looks okay. But she has got to get more sun and some protein in her life.

  74. Bslno8 says:

OMG did anyone else see the follow up article People just posted on their website? “5 Reasons You Secretly Love Gwenyth ( Don’t Deny It You Know You Do)” hahahaha she is working HARD for that image

    • Kate says:

I saw that! It made me laugh so hard. They totally chose her before that Most Hated Celeb list.

    • oliveo says:

I saw that, too! What a joke. She can do all the high-end, couture-wearing mag covers she wants, blabbing on about her ridiculous cookbook… but when you’re promoting a movie like IRON MAN 3, you’re gonna have to win over the peasants you so despise via People Mag.

  75. nj says:

She is certainly more beautiful than I and, I bet, all of you!!!

She works hard, even though she doesn’t have to; she keeps herself looking beautiful, as naturally as possible; she has a hot rock star husband, which probably causes her some jealousy.

She didn’t steal someone’s husband, she got married to the father when she got pregnant, she is still married and working on it.

She’s keeping it together in all ways.

    • jamee draper says:

@nj If she is better looking than you and you know that you’re not pretty, fine.Glad you can admit that to yourself. But you don’t know what any of us look like to make that statement. We don’t all want to be 98 pound chain smokers like Gwen and if you want to than I just feel sorry for you, lady.

    • Kim says:

A hot husband LOL. Natural beauty LOL still married 3.2.1

    • Vera says:

I don’t think she’s ugly. She’s quite attractive, but certainly far from being the most beautiful person. Now if there was a Most Annoying Person, she’d have a shot.

      • Loira says:

The prize has her name on it already.
She is more funny than comedians in her entitled interviews.

  76. Jess says:

    Hahahahahahahahaha!!!! No.

  77. TheOneAndOnly says:

These comments made my morning: thing is in the 90s People actually had beautiful people, including supermodels, on their list, Now it’s just laughable pr; I wonder how many people won’t buy this issue because of whose on the cover, THe people that run pop culture aren’t as savvy as they think they are.

  78. ladybert62 says:

    She is pretty.

    World’s most beautiful? NOT.

  79. megsie says:

meh I would have gone with Kerry Washington.

20 bucks says Ben Affleck is having the cover framed as we speak.

  80. princesslizabeth says:

This is going to go straight to her head. She’ll be imposssible to live with.

In other words, nothing will change.

  81. OhMyGawh says:

Iron Man publicity is in full swing.

  82. mk says:

This is kind of OT but Why is her hair so dry and stringy all the time?

  83. Lisa says:

What is she even promoting now? Her book? Bfd, go into any coffee shop and ask the moms there for advice and they’ll tell you the same Pinterest-y things for free.

She didn’t even know Abruzzo was a region, haha. She thought it was a town.

  84. Simone says:

Put Charlize Theron on the cover already! I know she doesn’t have as many ties as Gwyneth, but come on!

  85. NEENAZEE says:

Oh puh-leeeze… People magazine didn’t ‘select’ her… it was a campaign run by her publicist, her agent, the publisher behind her new book and probably the studio behind her next film. With enough pressure, implied favors and graft, anyone could be on the cover.

  86. NeNe says:

I want to know who these people are that are voting? WTF!!!!

  87. Everly says:

she is attractive NOT BEAUTIFUL!!! this is a total JOKE!

  88. ann h says:

Well, at least it’s not “the beautiful Jennifer Aniston”. (Aveeno commercial)
I guess Jenny’s manager didn’t buck up enough dough this time.

    • Leah says:

They have the same manager though who bought Aniston the Hottest woman ever title which she was mocked for.

  89. Mirna says:

I have never lent People’s “most beautiful” covers much credence, but this takes the cake. It just shows that the cover is bought and paid for. It is no coincidence that Iron Man 3 is around the corner and now Gwinnie is suddenly the fairest of them all. Same thing happened last year with their sexiest man cover when Channing was in a ton of big movies.

  90. Janies says:

The most beautiful woman in the world is actaully Aishwarya Rai, an indian actress. No Hollywood actress is as beautiful as her. This list is a joke.
Who is next, Jennifer Lawrence or Kirsten Stwewert? Stupid.

  91. Nev says:

    Naomi Campbell
    Christy Turlington
    Yasmeen Ghauri
    Penelope Cruz
    Halle Berry
    Jennifer Lopez
    Lisa Bonet
    Kate Moss
    SJP

Some of my fave beauties always and forever!!!!!

    • I Choose Me says:

I love that you have SJP in your list and no, I’m not being sarcastic. She has strong and unique features and a certain je nais se quoi that I admire.

    • TheOneAndOnly says:

It’s not fair to compare today’s crop to Yasmeen; I’m sure you’ve googled her or watched her runway appearances on Youtube they are everywhere on the internet/youtube just like all the 90s supers. Done up Yasmeen was like a fashion sketch and had curves to die for; Elegance, grace, beauty, attributes today’s celebs, certainly Goopy, completely lack.

  92. AustinMJ says:

    Wonder who she paid?
Cuz you KNOW she didnt sleep with anyone for it.
Only ways I can figure she got this.

  93. Savina says:

How about am issue about “beautiful” people who do good and help the less fortunate??? But no, our society places importance on physical only.

And I am in agreement: a total butt-kiss move and I for one have stopped reading it. It’s basically a PR mag for the stars and nothing more.

  94. pwal says:

This choice doesn’t bother me. However, it’s just obnoxious to see CAA’s fingerprints all over these actresses’ magazine covers versus these actresses creating their own stamp based on some authenticity. Plus, Paltrow is in a supporting role in a summer action movie, not the star. It just feels like a cop-out gesture which could be the template for other A-list actresses who will be walked into supporting roles even if there’s still something divine and unique they can convey onscreen.

  95. Vera says:

Goopy better give her publicist a big bonus this year. Kerry Washington was robbed.

  96. DrM says:

Salma Hayek? Penelope Cruz? – Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? LOL

UGH! Gwynnie…she will now spend the next year doing her fake modest/but I really deserve this schtick.

  97. Kim says:

She obviously has a very good publicist like Halle Berry, Julia Roberts, Beardly Cooper and others who landed this cover based in the past based on connections not beauty.

  98. Kim says:

Arent these celebs embarrassed we all know they buy these “most beautiful” covers?

  99. TOPgirl says:

Geez..i love how they always have to choose some hollywood celeb to be the most beautiful person. Good lord she’s nothing but fug!

  100. LaurieH says:

Everyone knows that People Magazine exists as a clearinghouse for publicists to image-pimp their clients. Last week, Gwyneth was voted the most hated celebrity. This week, she’s the most Beautiful Woman in the world? Coincidence? No. Major damage control by her PR rep (or Iron Man’s rep)? Absolutely! btw – a part that is 2 millimeters off the center of the nose does not a side part make.

  101. annie says:

Can you imagine having Goop’s People cover looking at you like that at home? It would give me nightmares.

  102. mugs says:

OK I give up I must need bi-focals cause I don’t see her “beauty”.

  103. I Choose Me says:

Oh man, as others here have said, her publicist is good. And I actually don’t mind Gwyneth that much but most beautiful?…nooooo.

Can’t we Celebitches come up with our own poll? I’d like to nominate Rachel Weisz right off the bat.

  104. ELLE says:

She doesn’t have a nice face, nice hair, or nice skin, she has a nice figure, that’s about it. They’re all a joke.
Ever seen Penelope Cruz in sweat pants and no makeup, trust you wouldn’t want to. That is why she never ever gets photographed without it.
All freaking jokes, Gywenth takes the the cake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  105. Ally8 says:

I think that both for this and the Sexiest Man Alive cover, they have a shortlist, and then they go down it until they get someone who’s willing to be photographed for it (i.e. someone who has something they’re desperate to promote).

  106. skuddles says:

Goopy… most beautiful??? Ah ha ha, good one People! 😀

That’s right up there with calling Aniston sexiest woman on the planet or whatever that nonsense was.

  107. Adrien says:

Gwyneth is an attractive woman but beautiful, hmmm, yeah maybe. I’m not complaining but let’s just say Amanda Knox and Jennifer Lawrence were hotter on that cover. The only time I found Gwyneth truly beautiful was in Great Expectations. She was really pretty in that movie.
I’m not really shocked by People’s choice. The IronMan 3 team obviously paid for that title.

  108. S says:

She’s just so….bland and average looking.
    I know she’s there but I can’t see her.
    She’s like a blank page.

  109. Gossip Garl says:

(i always comment, before reading the article)
It will be true, only because Citchy, mentions it;)
We should’ve ignored this crap of an article.

  110. devilish says:

And her new bff Beyonce was named Most Beautiful Woman last year. Interesting…

  111. Jade says:

this women makes me wanna barf. barf is sexier. she cant act, she looks like she needs to eat something :/

  112. ??? says:

Okay, who takes these “Most” anything titles seriously, anyway? It’s a barrage of the same people over and over again. I just choose to turn away when I see the magazines on the stands.
There are actually much more beautiful/sexy people in the entertainment industry who just aren’t as high-profile. But I guess that’s a requirement for receiving the title — being well known (i.e., a famewhore with a great publicist).
