Star: Jim Toth’s ex says Jim is a ‘slimy drunk’ who ‘corrupted young women’

I know many of you simply roll your eyes at many Star Magazine stories, but occasionally they latch onto some interesting pieces of information that I’m willing to buy. This is one of those times. Even before Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth got arrested in Georgia in April, I sometimes wondered if there was something shady about Jim. It wasn’t like I had any proof or anything, but he just seemed like a guy with secrets, a guy who worked in Hollywood and married an Oscar-winning actress but a guy who actively shunned the spotlight. Well, Star has an interview with a woman who claims she dated Jim years ago, and she has an interesting take on who he really is:

The arrests of Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth came as a shock to most everyone – particularly when the sauced Hollywood agent tried to distance himself from Reese by telling Georgia State Patrol, “I had nothing to do with that.” One of Jim’s former flames, however, has come forward in an exclusive to tell Star that Jim’s April 19th arrest was far from a surprise, claiming it’s the latest development in a long line of selfish, reckless behavior.

“I always knew he was bound to get caught eventually,” says the ex (who asked not to be named). “When I heard the news about the arrests, it didn’t really faze me.”

Jim’s ex describes his history of using women – and she is convinced that it’s only a matter of time until he breaks Reese’s heart.

“There is a whole other side to his personality that people don’t know. He wants people to think he’s a great guy, but he’s not. He’s a bad guy who will only drag Reese down.”

Jim’s ex says he was always a slick-talking insider with an eye for naïve girls new to the industry: “I was a lot younger than him when he hit on me,” she recalls, and claims that Jim, now 42, happily used his age and industry knowledge to his advantage. “He put on this front like he wasn’t like all the other backstabbing Hollywood agents, but I quickly realized that he was. That’s why he is so successful at his job.”

She says he was a “slimy” drunk who would throw poolside parties at his mansion, to which he would invite other, younger women. “He had a closet where he kept bikinis in all different sizes so the girls could undress and get into his hot tub. He corrupted young women and sucked the life force out of them.”

Jim’s reps deny his ex’s claims, but his ex says that Jim’s drunken antics have been going on for years: “He used to drunk dial me all the time. If I didn’t pick him up, the next day he’d call me and tell me that if he had driven home drunk he could’ve killed someone. Last time I checked, he was a 30-something man who had enough money to call a car service.”

“Jim is a manipulative snake with no respect for others’ well-being. This incident with the arrest is the exact Jim I knew.”

While this story seems kind of vague and histrionic, it does have me interested in finding out more. Like, just how young were the women invited to his famous pool parties? And a single guy with a closet full of bikinis in different sizes? I’m sorry, but that’s gross. That says, “I think I’m Hugh Hefner” and who wants that? As for the other stuff… yeah, he drunk dialed and he fooled around and he seemed like a sleaze. Maybe I’m naïve, but I think all of that is a requirement to be an agent, right?

ah haha.. sorry, but he definitely does give the ‘slick car salesman’ vibe. I don’t dislike Reese enough to hope she gets screwed over, if anyone gets hurt hopefully it’s him.

  2. Allie says:

Men who spend too much money on their teeth are weird. I mean look at those giant white perfectly aligned chompers…he’s got iiiisssuues.

  3. CuteC says:

That seems a lot like the plot to Reese’s movie How Do You Know with Owen Wilson.

  4. Aiobhan says:

He looks like Ed Helms in the top photo.

  5. hadleyb says:

He has always seemed shady to me but I don’t get the vibe that he will break Reese’s heart. If anything she will chew him up, spit him out and demand he carry her bags to the car.

I think the only person to break her heart was Ryan maybe when she was younger. This guy maybe sleezy but from how Reese acts so arrogant and her put on fake nice girl routine is getting old – they deserve each other.

  6. Sue says:

I find ex’s who get their 5 minutes from trash talking former boyfriends/girlfriends/whatevers pathetic! Also, always makes me wonder if they are maybe a little jealous. I am not a big fan of Reese/Jim, just can’t get with the ex trash talk, how can you believe it?

  7. Val says:

She was probably just desperate to get married again and pop out another kid for attention.

  8. word says:

I believe this completely. A poster here on celebitchy use to post that Jim was bad news and that Reese made a mistake marrying him..

  9. Talie says:

Reese is probably closer to his personality than people want to think.

  10. Katie says:

Jim’s ex probably an overweight middle-aged woman who never realized her dreams of an acting career.

Reese is rumored to be a manipulative snake, too, so it sounds like these crazy kids are meant for each other!

    • Little Darling says:

Why can’t the ex just be a skinny, miserable lonely has been? Why does overweight have to be the descriptor for lonely and pathetic?

      • Lucretia says:

I agree with the idea about “overweight,” but frankly I’m always a little suspicious of an “ex” who wants to dish some dirt–very one-sided.

      • nc_magnolia says:

@ Little Darling- she probably could be a “skinny” miserable, lonely has been. Or an overweight one. Or a height/weight proportionate has been. This is a fookin gossip blog, not a sensitivity workshop.

  11. TG says:

I always thought Jim and Reese looked off together too. Of course as it turns out she is just like him so they are perfect for each other.

  12. Baskingshark says:

Well duh, he’s a Hollywood agent.

  13. RobN says:

If he’d been interested in “corrupting” them, there would have been a hot tub and no bikinis.

  14. notleo says:

Reese looks prego in the pink blouse pictures.

    • Becky1 says:

Yeah, she kind of does. I wouldn’t be surprised if she is. I thought it was really strange that she lied about being pregnant when they got arrested. It seemed to me a weird thing to drunkenly lie about it. It would not shock me if she actually is pregnant and a few months from now tries to make it seem like she got pregnant after the drunk driving incident.

  15. Holden says:

Hahaha, it’s Hollywood, you can’t be friends with everyone. His ex sounds so jaded and bitter and was probably living it up when she was with him.

  16. HappyMom says:

My theory is Reese’s people planted this story so that there would be more sympathy for her in case they breakup. And a Hollywood agent who is slimy-how shocking!

  17. Sugar says:

he’s an agent who has a rep…is that the norm or is this because he is married to a movie star?

  18. hopperlea says:

Lainey predicted this right after Reese was arrested. She said that Reese’s team would spin it and make Toth look bad and that the media will shift and put Reese into the poor helpless wife role. She was right. How long before he goes to sex addiction rehab? 3…2…1…

  19. choppersann 13 says:

    Someone’s bitter Betty :p

  20. gogoGorilla says:

I just can’t get past the 1950s-looking cuffed jeans and docksiders in that first pic. He does look a bit skeevy.

As to the ex spilling the beans – eh. Maybe it’s true, maybe it’s really an intern on Star’s desk, maybe she has an axe to grind. He’s a pretty boring topic, as is Reese. I only clicked on the story to see if there were more drunken photos, LOL.

  21. Shauna says:

I really can’t get past the word ‘faze’. I’m more screwed up than these celebrities.

  22. ELJ says:

I think she might just have horrible taste in men- I mean, she DID marry Ryan Phillipe. Everyone makes mistakes, she needs to do more before I completely write her off.

  23. Ksweet says:

I don’t know what to believe, but it always seemed strange that he was such a “great guy” and is a Hollywood agent.

@Shauna: actually, “faze” is used properly there; it makes me crazy when people use “phase” in that context! 🙂

  24. PixieStix says:

A binder full of bikinis? Really, Mr. Toth?

  25. taxi says:

They dated for quite a while & had lots of mutual friends, colleagues, and acquaintances. I think there was plenty of time to find out everything they needed to about each other.

  26. Original Me says:

Jeez, it’s like attack of the chins with those two.
He reads “total dork” to me.

  27. NP says:

Toth’s ex fiance is not in the business whatsoever so I am 99% sure this isn’t the “ex” but the reasons mentioned is why they ended. Now if ya’ll still believe the Ryan Phillippe story of him breaking her heart, well, then you are still buying Witherspoon’s scorned ex wife facade! Ya’ll all finally saw the real Reese Witherspoon! She was the same way with Ryan Phillippe. The same way!

    • Not Fooled says:

This isn’t who Sloth was going to marry. I have a very strong feeling who it is though? CR!

  28. MnL says:

This smells really bad like Team Witherspoon! First the stepmother crap and now this. ANYTHING to make herself look like the victim. She will crap on ANYone to get that negativity off her and lie her way out of ANYthing to make herself feel and look better! SMH……………

  29. Karen says:

That lightbulb under her mouth makes it look like she’s toking. Which REALLY made me lol.

  30. aquarius64 says:

Not sure about an ex throwing shade here. One, she’s looks vengeful – getting back at him for the marriage going sour. she’s not willing to id herself, as if she’s afraid someone will fact check her claims.
