Well, this is interesting. We’ll see if it happens. According to E! News, Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez are planning a weekend wedding. THIS weekend. Apparently, they’re not going to get hitched in LA though, as they were spotted at LAX yesterday with Nahla Aubry. Hm… do you think Halle, Olivier and Nahla have absconded to Paris? Halle and Olivier were just in Paris a month ago so Olivier could sit on a film festival’s jury. Maybe while Olivier was doing that, Halle was making wedding plans?
Chime the wedding bells! E! News has learned that Halle Berry is getting married to fiancé Olivier Martinez this weekend!
The happy couple was spotted leaving LAX earlier today, with Berry’s daughter Nahla in tow. While the Oscar winner has remained fairly quiet about her upcoming wedding plans, she did reveal to InStyle magazine last year that she’s put some thought into the ceremony.
“I do know it will be very small,” she told the mag when asked about her ideal aisle trip. “I haven’t been to many weddings, but I went to one this weekend with 250 guests. I thought, Wow—so this is a wedding, huh? I’ve never had that, nor have I wanted that. I wasn’t even trying to catch the bouquet!”
Berry, who originally claimed that she’d never tie the knot again, revealed that she was surprised to find herself engaged to the hunky French actor.
“Who knew?!” the actress told Extra this past weekend, pleasantly shocked that she’ll be taking the plunge again. “I swore it off, right? Never say never, people!”
This marks the third marriage for Berry, who previously tied the knot to David Justice in 1993 and singer Eric Benét in 2001.
The gorgeous duo have been engaged since March of 2012, after Berry appeared to be sporting an elegant diamond-and-emerald engagement ring.
Martinez revealed the ring’s designer is “real artist” Robert Mazlo, a jeweler from his Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood in Paris, whose family has been designing jewelry for “kings and queens for many centuries.”
But the good news didn’t end there for the couple. Berry and Olivier revealed that they are expecting their first child together, a son, in April of this year. The actress’ rep told E! News, “We can confirm that Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez are expecting a child. We will not be commenting on or confirming any additional details.”
You know what I think this is? I think this is Olivier being “old-school” about his baby-mama situation. I think he believes that he should marry Halle because he knocked her up, and he wants to do it before the baby comes. Reportedly, Halle is due in September or October I believe, and she’s pretty much said that she’s having a boy this time around. I think Olivier sees what has happened between Gabriel Aubry and Halle and Olivier is all “I want my parental rights to be a lot firmer than THAT.” And so he really pushed to get married before she gave birth. Can’t you see it?
As for this wedding… I bet it will be small and quiet and private. I’m sure it will be lovely too. I kind of wish Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux would do it this way, you know? So little angst, so little build-up, just head off to some beautiful city and quietly get married with only a few days’ preparation. Hopefully, third time’s a charm for Halle… sigh. I hope. I think Olivier either feeds on Halle’s drama and provides his own, or this is all going to be a HUGE mess. But let’s hope everything is fine. Fingers crossed.

You know…I just don’t get her. She made a strong comment in an interview a very long time ago that she was never going to get married again. The woman has had such bad luck with men, I wonder..why bother? I don’t trust this guy.
Guess they each get what they want in the short term but this has mess written all over it.
I have a friend who has said the same thing. She is now on her third marriage. I think the love/married thing just takes on a different life for some women.

Olivier Martinez is French from Spanish parents.
Taking care of Nhala was is first try has a ‘step’dad. Maybe that’s when he discovered he really loves it considering all the pictures where he seems to have fun and some genuine fatherly tenderness of Nhala.
So i am sure having his own child for the first time, him being a Latine by blood, culture and heart may have stroke that emotional cord.
I also beleieve he really loves Halle.
In any case, it’s a good thing for his unborn child that he marries her.
I understood his father is Spanish and his mother is French.
Doesn’t matter if he marries her or not, when she decides it’s over, he will be fighting her to see his kid. It’s all about her and she needs to have control. I hope the abuse rumors are not true because this could get ugly.

No I think he’s old school.he is from a working class family and pretty conservative in some ways. He was a player for a long time. Then he dated someone with a kid and my guess is he liked the whole family set up. Players get old and settle too. I agree that marrying Halle is also a way for him to secure his legal rights to the child as well.
He’s a womanizer and an engagement phobic. IF he marries her, it will only be to not be in the same mess as Gabriel Aubry is, not because he loves her.

I agree, he’s pushing for marriage to get his legal rights locked down. It will still be a s%itshow when they split up, but there are alot more legal right that a married father has (including being on the birth certificate), then Gabriel did.

Does having been married to the mother affect one’s parental rights? I think the father has the same rights no matter what, doesn’t he? Unless he gives up his rights, he’s still the father whether or not he married her. Am I wrong?
Also, the men she dates/marries/procreates with always end up being abusive or an addict or a bad father. I think she likes to exaggerate and/or spin stories after she goes through a breakup. I’m not saying she wasn’t abused by David Justice, but she really likes to drag her exes through the mud…
Being married gives you a lot of ‘automatic’ legal rights as a parent. E.g. having his name on the birth certificate. Gabriel had to fight for that, as she wasn’t legally obligated to include him. In some states a unmarried woman can put a baby up for adoption without having to contact the father. In others, only the mother has full legal/physical custody if she’s unmarried. (unless you go to court) You have legal rights to visitation/custody if you’re married.
It’s alot of drama, which I think he’s trying to avoid.

They could be getting married and if so it may have something to do with old school or parental rights… the more interesting thing was the comment wondering if they’d absconded to Paris. Because with another Brazil custody/kidnapping story in the news this week, it puts a chill through me that Aubry may have let his daughter go to France. I have no faith in Ms Berry and no idea how France deals with international custody disputes.
I can see her having that baby in France and coming up with all kinds of health reasons why she can’t travel back home and that it isn’t good for her daughter to be away from her mom so that she gets to stay or even claiming that she can no longer fly until the baby is born. I just don’t trust this demon and her hired thug of a boyfriend.
