Alec Baldwin & Hilaria welcome daughter Carmen Gabriela Baldwin

Hilaria Baldwin and Alec Baldwin have welcomed their first child together! Hilaria announced her pregnancy earlier this year, and from what I could see, she seemed to have an easy time of it. She’s really into fitness and such, so I’m assuming everything went smoothly. Alec, 55, and Hilaria, 29 (yeah), welcomed a baby girl named Carmen Gabriela. Carmen Baldwin? What will the nickname be? Carrie Baldwin? Or Carma Baldwin? Something like that.

Another Baldwin baby! Alec Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria Thomas Baldwin, welcomed their first child together, a baby girl, on Friday, Aug. 23.

“We are overjoyed to announce the birth of our daughter Carmen Gabriela. She is absolutely perfect. @ABFalecbaldwin @IrelandBBaldwin,” the first-time mom announced via Twitter.

The yoga instructor and lifestyle correspondent for Extra announced in March on the entertainment show that she and the actor, 55, were expecting a daughter. “Alec and I are overjoyed that we are going to be welcoming a little girl into our lives,” she said.

That same month, the 29-year-old told Us how her first pregnancy was faring at the Academy of the Arts Lifetime Achievement Awards in New York City. “At the beginning, I wanted pineapple and citrus, which was not typical for me, but then you get heartburn so I had to stop that,” she said. “I don’t have really crazy cravings. I definitely eat more than I did before, but nothing too crazy.”

Heartburn aside, she explained to Us that she was spending time doing as much baby research as possible. “I’m reading a lot, although I’m learning it’s not good to read too far in advance because then you freak out,” she said. “I saw a birthing video the other day and I was like, ‘That’s too much information for me! I don’t want to know that yet!'”

The Spanish-born fitness enthusiast kept her workouts on track throughout the pregnancy — attending hourlong toning sessions at New York City’s Physique 57 seven days a week. “They make me feel amazing — exhausted, yet invigorated,” she told Us in May. “I just feel much better when I exercise. If I can’t get to a class, I’ll walk around the city or go for a light jog.”

Her hubby, already dad to 17-year-old daughter Ireland with ex-wife Kim Basinger, was just as excited to be a second-time dad, Thomas Baldwin explained. “At this point, before the baby is born, he thinks he’s going to be Mr. Mom,” she said, laughing, during a March appearance on The Rachael Ray Show. “We’ll see if at 3 o’clock in the morning when the baby is screaming and we need to change the diaper if he’s going to be Mr. Mom at that point!”

In fact, Baldwin himself hinted in a June interview with Vanity Fair that he’d be willing to trade in his Hollywood life to be a full-time family man this time around.

“I have one dream in my life and that is that this daughter I’m having — she comes to me about seven or eight years from now, she has a friend, and she’s at her house and she says, ‘Daddy, Susie’s mom says you used to be on TV. Daddy, is that true?’ She has no knowledge of me as a public person. That would be heaven for me,” he said. “I’d love to [quit acting] if I could, yeah. That would be the greatest thing in the world.”

The couple married in June 2012 and first announced they were expecting on Feb. 12, 2013.

[From Us Weekly]

Well, congrats to them. I think he’s a little old to be doing this new-dad thing (his daughter Ireland is all grown up, after all), but I’m hoping for the best. I always hope age and time will give Alec wisdom and help him chill out a bit, but my gossip sixth sense is telling me that he’s going to be much, much worse now that he has a newborn to “protect”. He’ll be a fierce, violent bear of man protecting his daughter. Until his daughter pisses him off and then he’ll tell the baby to go f—k herself.

PS… I saw Blue Jasmine yesterday and Alec was really good in it! I felt like his part was a little underwritten, but I imagine that he LOVED working with Cate Blanchett. They had a surprising amount of chemistry together.

I don’t understand why he can’t quit acting if he really wanted to. He has worked consistently for years and years, he should have a good sized nest egg built up right??

    • SamiHami says:

It’s not about money, it’s about ego. And his is huge and needs to be fed regularly. I don’t think he would cope very will with not being in the spotlight, whether for good reasons or bad.

that pic with the dogs… i mean they dress so differently

    • OriginallyBlue says:

Lol, that’s what I noticed too. He looks like a bum and she’s all dress and heels. But you can tell she loves the attention. Wouldn’t be surprised if she did some pap calling.

  3. celebitchin' says:

Alec has a nice complexion, nice face.

If he loses a few kilos he’ll be a silver fox 😉

A grumpy silver fox but a silver fox notwithstanding.

I saw an old movie he made recently, the one with Kim Basinger. It was a remake of The Getaway, which has Steve McQueen in the original old classic. God, Alec was beyond beautiful and thin. I was shocked at how gorgeous he was in his younger days. And Kim Basinger, wow. She really was so beautiful. No wonder their daughter is so pretty, although not as pretty as her mom. Although, Hilaria has at least gotten him in better shape than he was for a while, so out of shape.

I think with him the camera really does add 10-20 lbs. I saw him a while back at a Starbucks and he looked really fit. I was surprised because he usually looks like he could lose a few in pics. But he looked good, didn’t look overweight at all. So maybe he put on a few sympathy pounds during the pregnancy but I don’t think he’s this “schlubby” IRL.

I love the name. No Apple or Maxwell, LOL. I always liked the name Gabriela for a little girl, but worried then she would always be Gabby and no one would use the full name. I have to give it to her. She has really looked pretty her whole pregnancy. She is a petite girl, not all that tall, and she really wore flattering clothes all the way through. Congrats to both of them, even though I can’t stand her acting like she’s a star herself. I guess Alec likes it that way and is promoting it, because he always has her with him in interviews, it seems like.

He had that lawyer girlfriend (I think she was a lawyer) for years but never really talked about her. So he must be really in love with Hilaria, kind of like he used to be with Kim, the way he loves to talk about her. So I’m happy for him. I would have thought she would have had a better effect on his temper with the press, but at his age, old dogs can’t or, in his case, won’t learn new tricks, lol. I guess his temper is what it is.

And I agree, he was great in Blue Jasmine. He and Cate really did have chemistry in the movie.

  5. Lea says:

I find Alec Baldwin really attractive. Also, I don’t necessarily think he was a bad father to Ireland – he was indeed verbally abusive towards her, but the situation was probably unbearable for everybody involved, what with Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin fighting and Ireland stuck in the middle. I think it will be very different with the new baby.

    • Holly says:

Yeah, hopefully the always-angry-dude will chill out, and he’ll have Ireland around as a reminder of his screw-ups.

I gotta say that I’m impressed by the fact that this is only his second kid. He was super hot and super famous for a very long time, and most male actors (married or not) manage to ‘spread their seed’ around and just drop checks as they go. It says something positive about him personally IMO.

      • Ann says:

We don’t know that he hasn’t dropped a big enough check here or there, do we?

      • Sabrine says:

I like Alec. He’s very interesting in interviews. He seems to be letting himself go lately, putting on weight again? I know it’s hard to keep it off but he was looking pretty fine there for a while.

People are still bringing up that phone call seven years later? Weird. It’s obvious Ireland thinks the world of her Dad.

    • RocketMerry says:

ITA. I can’t help it, I like him. Here’s hoping everything goes smoothly this time around.

      Congrats to Mr Baldwin!

    • Noi says:

oh so if your in stressful place abusing ones child is ok if your good to them the other times? please

      • Sojourner says:

I love him, as I’ve said here before. I find him sexy at every age and weight.

But I feel kind of bad for Ireland … if my dad had a late-in-life baby and apparently wanted to make it the center of his universe, and hadn’t raised me that way, I think I’d be jealous.

  6. janie says:

I loved the photo of him & a couple of guys dropping off several bags & luggage at the hospital, prior to her even checking in? Who does that? Good luck and congrats on the new baby.

  7. LaurieH says:

Alec is a good actor, but man – this guy is off his nut. Rage is always just beneath the surface with him and I always get the feeling that he’s the kind of guy that you have to walk on eggshells with, lest the rage monster comes out. I get that he doesn’t like to be papped, but seriously, if he hated it that much he could move somewhere less conspicuous than NYC (I am pretty sure Hilaria could teach yoga elsewhere). I suspect he doth protest too much and his rage incidents are meant to bring attention to an aging actor whose opportunities for roles is quickly dwindling.

  8. Decloo says:

Congratulations on the birth of their new “rude, thoughtless little pig!”

  9. Janet says:

Carmen is a lovely name. BTW the diminutive for Carmen in Spanish-speaking countries is Carmencita.

  10. lisa2 says:

Congrats on the birth of the baby. Cute name.

I don’t know why but I don’t really like his wife. I just find her very fame hungry. She wants so much to BE. and I feel it every time they do an interview.

    • Izzy says:

I’ve had the same impression from the start. She’s locked it up tight – now she got him for 18 years.

  11. Ann says:

Not a fan over men in their 50s becoming dads. Don’t know why the people are downplaying the health risks babies born to old/er dads face.

  12. cw says:

I loved him in Along Came Polly
    he was fantastic

  13. MD says:

I saw her chatting with a well-heeled couple in Greenwich village just a few days before she gave birth. At first I didn’t even notice she was pregnant. She certainly didn’t gain very much weight. Her friends were asking her if she was going to have an epidural. She said at first she thought she wouldn’t but that she had “changed her mind.” Lolz.

    • Grace says:

Are you sure it was her? She was huge. I love the name. It is so good to hear a name other than a vanity name for the parents, like North, Blue Ivy, Apple.
He was very good in Blue Jasmine. But everyone was brilliant. It was a spectacular ensemble cast.

  14. kct says:

He always looks pretty fit in the Capital One commercials. If you see how he looked before he met her there is a huge difference, but he does seem a bit heavier now than he did after she whipped him into shape.

Hopefully he’s learned some good lessons along the way and will be a better father to this little one.

  15. amilu says:

“What will the nickname be? Carrie Baldwin? Or Carma Baldwin?”

Why can’t she just be Carmen Baldwin?! Not every name requires or or individual desires a nickname.

  16. Barrett says:

I WALKED right pass him in the city last week! Before I noticed it was him, I thought wow what’s wrong with this older gentleman’s back? He was walking like a guy in his mid 60’s who wasn’t holding up too well. His arms were muscular and on a second look it was like that old guy probably was good looking when he was younger. Is it Steven Baldwin? nope. Alec has shrunk to maybe to about 5’10. He also was wearing that uniform of black tshirt, black pants. When I realized it was him, I was kinda like gross he impregnated a 29 year old? He is funny. But also living a real life comedy with this young fitness instructor! She will need to give him some pain meds for that back if she wants a second impregnation!

  17. EscapedConvent says:

Bless this little baby, & may she get many hilari-ous Samuel Jackson-style readings of “Go The F*ck to Sleep!”

  18. Mrs. Ari Gold says:

    Man he’s being taken for a ride…
    Wonder when he’ll realize it?

I like that they chose a regular name.

  19. DKN says:

To pp: What risks exactly do children of men in their 50s face?

  20. Katie says:

I always read her name as “hilarious” and have to go back and re-read it.

  21. Lem says:

Carmen is pretty. Baldwin is fine.
Carmen Baldwin sounds of a bowling alley, a strip mall, a discount grocers
I expected better from a woman named Hilaria

  22. BooBooLaRue says:

Congratulations! That felt like the gestational period of an elephant…
