Alex Skarsgard wasn’t even supposed to do full-frontal on the ‘True Blood’ finale

It’s gotten to the point where Alexander Skarsgard is just an automatic post for me. Like, whenever we have new photos of certain people (Aniston, Hiddleston, Jolie, Cumberbatch, Hardy, Pitt, Fassbender), I’ll just post them regardless of what they’re doing. Skarsgard has become one of those people. And I’m not sure why. These photos aren’t even that interesting – Skarsgard was photographed by the paparazzi as he walked into the Chateau Marmont. Alex goes to the Marmont a lot. He parties there a few times a month and I guess he has meetings there during the day too.

I could go on and on about how tall he is (seriously, he’s a giant Viking), how his Swedish Thunder should not be contained in those terrible pants, or how Benedict Cumberbatch has officially brought back denim shirts for men. I like Alex’s denim shirt more than Cumby’s beloved denim though. Alex’s shirt makes him look broad and pec-tastic.

As for Alex’s Viking Thunder and how he went full-frontal on the Season 6 finale of True Blood, Alex’s costar Stephen Moyer told E! News that Alex was supposed to be wearing a “sack of destiny”:

It’s safe to say that True Blood fans were not expecting to see Alexander Skarsgård’s full frontal exposure when Eric went up in flames during last month’s season finale.

“It was never intended that way,” Stephen Moyer told me yesterday at the BAFTA LA Tea at the SLS Hotel. “It was never written to have him full frontal. Alex doesn’t like wearing his ‘sock’ or the ‘sack of destiny’ as we call it.'”

His sack of what?

“It’s the sack of destiny that covers everything,” Moyer laughed. “He doesn’t like wearing those so he had one in his room that day [but] he was the one who chose not to wear it.”

Moyer says the crew had unsuccessfully tried some “camera trickery” to hide the goods.

[From E! News]

This made me think way too much about male nudity and how Hollywood treats the dong (any dong). It’s widely believed that Shame ended up with a NC-17 rating because of Michael Fassbender’s full-frontal scene, and director Steve McQueen fought against making any changes to the film. To the director, the male frontal nudity was important. They showed the Fassdong on purpose, and they paid the price for it with the rating and with which theaters would carry the film. But with Alex’s full-frontal, he probably only had to deal with HBO, and since HBO is a subscription channel, there are no censors. So Alex could make the decision himself that he didn’t want to wear the sack of destiny. So… does that mean actors can do more, explore more, and expose more on HBO rather than in a feature film?

    Yum!

MELTS INTO A VIKING PUDDLE OF GOO

  3. Welldun says:

    He has my complete approval.

  4. Mel says:

I count that as a win for everybody.

  5. INeedANap says:

Good for him. We see a lot more naked women, or barely clothed women, than we do men. And while I know he did this as a comfort thing and not to make a stand, the fact that he was so non-chalant about it is awesome.

    • Tulip says:

Agree. It’s funny there’s still such a double standard. Yes, it’s probably because a lot of old men are still calling the shots, but how much longer can they be so prissy considering how much male nudity there is on the internet?

      Back to Alex-gorgeous as always!

    • Decloo says:

The Swedes are pretty chill about nudity. There’s all that sauna activity and rolling around in the snow naked.

      • Bread and Circuses says:

I think being blase about nudity is pretty common in quite a few of those Nordic countries.

In Iceland, my brother found a government-built changing area for some hot springs that consisted of a wood platform to stand on so your clothes wouldn’t get dirty.

No walls, no roof–just a floor. In full view of the highway.

  6. Jen says:

To him it must be so weird that people are still talking about his dong, because he clearly doesn’t give a crap.

    • cr says:

He doesn’t. And I think most of his fans didn’t care about the actual nudity, but cared that Brian Buckner used that few seconds to sell a craptastic season finale.

    • Freya says:

Yes, he’s probably almost forgotten he did that, lol. And how weird must it be for Stephen to be asked about his co-star’s dong, even months later?

      • lucy2 says:

There’s a lot of dong talk and sack of destiny discussion when it comes to that show. I think all the actors are probably used to being asked about it by now!

  7. Jen34 says:

    Kaiser,
There is a brilliant satirical commercial about how if it’s on HBO, it isn’t porn. I don’t know if i’m allowed to post a link. But to answer your question, yes.

  8. Londongal says:

I wish I was that iphone, wedged close to his deleriously wonderful, muscly, viking thigh. And un-cocked dong. God he’s a thing of beauty!

    • Minx says:

Did you catch the muscly Viking arms in action in The East? His scene with Brit Marling was maybe the hottest thing I’ve seen on film in a very long time.

On a side note, I hated the way his True Blood scene was marketed to women and gay men since he was basically screaming in agony as he was fricasseed, but as long as he is so chill with showing all his Viking glory, I’ll be there to watch. And drool.

Good lord, he really is a work of art.

      • trixie says:

OMG yes! I saw that too, just yesterday.

That sex scene was incredibly hot despite showing relatively little nudity… kind of the opposite of True Blood, where they seem to think boobs/ass/d**k equal sexiness.

      • Sophie says:

Now I have to see The East. Can I get it on Netflix?

      • Minx says:

@trixie Exactly! If True Blood came anywhere near that level of steamy with Eric and Sookie, I think the ratings would have gone through the roof and we’d probably be looking at 8 seasons.

@Sophie It should be available on October 15, iirc. It’s already on iTunes and Amazon though.

      • Londongal says:

**Rushes to get ‘The East’** I haven’t seen it yet but can’t wait. Askars is great on ‘True Blood’ and I love the campery, but the dude can also really act. The only othetr sex scene I’ve seen is the one in ‘Straw Dogs’ which is obviously rather rapey, so makes you feel a little conflicted so I’ll get my hands on ‘The East’ pronto!

  9. Tiffany27 says:

I saw a gif of it and…………….is he “uncut”? I’ve never seen one and was fascinated. Sorry if this is inappropriate.

    • call_in says:

He is! come to a nude beach in Europe and you’ll see hundreds of those things. Freaked me out at first too.

    • Jen says:

Yes, he is uncircumcised, like the majority of men in the world.

    • Chicagogurl says:

Apparently they don’t cut in Sweden.

      • Paul Ó Dubhthaigh says:

Or in the rest of Europe, only people you find “cut” in Ireland are those who have a religious reason (Jewish or Muslim) or those who had a medical issue (paraphimosis, balanitis xerotica obliterans).

      • Gena says:

Nope. Or in the rest of Europe. I live in the UK (I’m American), my husband is English, and intact (“uncircumcised” implies that circumcised penises are normal, but in fact they are altered.)
It’s a shame that everyone sees it as an unusual “thing” whereas people here are SHOCKED when I tell them about America… like properly freaked-and-weirded out (rightfully so) that anyone would do that to a baby at birth.

      • trillian says:

Nor do they in Germany. Only for medical reasons.

      • lori says:

Its not that common in Canada either….except for religious reasons. I’ve never seen one “in person” that was cut. Those things all the decoration they can get.

    • Lizzy says:

I know it’s totally off topic but male circumcision if not medically necessary or religiously influenced (even though that is debatable too imo) is a barbaric act to me.

Any doctor suggesting I cut my boy because “thats what everyone does” would get one hell of a bitch slap from me.

Thats like going “oh, my apendix could get infected. lets have surgery to remove it.” Idiotic!

      Yes, I am European 😀

      • MistyNinja says:

No. It is awful. I was born and raised in the US. And I think it is terrible. They cut off the most sensitive part of the penis. Men should get the choice.
I guess some Doctor in the 1950’s convinced everyone it was cleaner or some dumb shit.
And to the women who are freaked out when they first see their first uncut-no offense- but I do not understand why?

      • cheshire cat says:

@lizzy – I’m in the u.s. (the south) & when my son was born almost 4 months ago I did NOT circumcise him. every doctor/nurse that rotated in & out while we were in the hospital kept checking & rechecking with me… sweet boy, there was no way I was going to make this choice for him. he is perfect as is!

      • Amanda_M87 says:

I agree. Can’t believe they still do this.

      • T.C. says:

Male circumcision reduces the chance of getting HIV. I think it should be a personal choice.

      • MistyNinja says:

So do condoms @T.C. Plus that was the new excuse.

      • mayamae says:

I’m American and in nursing school I watched a circumcision. It has stuck with me for years. First of all, the baby was placed in a restraint device, screamed like crazy, and whimpered for hours. It was horrible. I thought to myself I wouldn’t do that to my baby. I never had kids though, so I never had to make that actual decision. I hope I wouldn’t have been a hypocrite.

I have encountered very few uncircumcised men, and I have to admit I had a heck of a time trying to catheterize the first one.

      • Mel says:

My son was also born 4 months ago and we chose to keep him intact. I always thought we would circumcise up until I was pregnant with him and I watched a video of it being done. My husband wanted to up until he was 3 days old (he was in the nicu for 16 and they don’t do it right away then). I cried when he finally agreed with me after researching. His birth was traumatic enough! The rest of the family I think is weirded out since there are a lot of boys and they are all circumcised. I think some of them want to watch me change him diaper just to see it. I don’t care though, my sons peen shouldn’t be any of their concern or a topic of conversation.

    • Tiffany27 says:

I’m not freaked out by it, I’ve just never seen one. I’m American and fairly young so this is all a bit new to me that’s all :).

      • Lemony says:

I’m not freaked out by it either but my hubby is adamant that if we ever have a son that he will be circumcised, and it isn’t for religious reasons. We’ve had a ton of conversations about it & for a long time I just didn’t get it.
I’ve started to see some of his points, in a way, over the last few years. My patients are all elderly or adults with disabilities (CP, MS, ALS, etc) and for patients receiving personal cares that are noncircumcised there are a few extra steps needed maintain the health or care of that part of the body. If not done properly the patient can end up with pain & other discomforts. So sometimes I must give extra training to staff to ensure that those proper steps are taken.
But this is likely due to our unfamiliarity here with “uncut”; if that was the norm here, as it sounds like it is in other parts of the world, then it would be common knowledge, common sense, & culture.

    • Anki says:

Swedes and the vast majority of the world doesn’t cut the peen.

      • mei says:

OMG, I had no idea that this is sort of common practice in the US! In my country, it is seen as a barbaric act, the only ones who do it are minorities like Jews, Muslims and they often take children back to their home countries to get it done. It not punishable by law over here, but lawsuits have been filed over it and several attempts made at prohibiting such practices. I think most people here see it as a violation of human rights. We certainly don’t understand it 😛

      • Minx says:

Great discussion/info on uncut vs. cut. I’m in the US too, and I just don’t get it. I may be misinformed, but it does seem barbaric. You’re essentially taking away one of, if not the most, sensitive parts. Ive always heard and read that sex is more enjoyable for men who are uncut. Are there studies on this? (Note to self: google this!). Plus uncut peens all look vey similar in their happy state and there is the added benefit of having more to play with!!! 😀

        *looks at Alex’s pics*
        Okay, seriously distracted…*thud*

    • Yep says:

A long time ago, I was dating a guy, and we came to the conclusion to get naked. He was uncut. I too, never saw one before, and was fascinated. Too fascinated. Cause I couldn’t help checking it out, asking questions, and he got uncomfortable. LOL. End of that story.

    • TinyTurtle says:

I chose not to have either of my boys cut but BOTH times they did it anyway against my wishes.

the youngest was 8 years ago and the oldest is 18

  10. Chicagogurl says:

I have glutinously been watching all the drunken videos of the Viking on YouTube. God he seems like he’d be fun to play with.

  11. lucy2 says:

I will never complain about random Skarsgard pics, so please continue posting!

  12. Maum says:

They don’t cut anywhere in Europe! I’ve never seen a real life ‘cut’ one. TMI 🙂

    • Ladytron2000 says:

I have never seen an uncut one in person, but I have seen pix & they’re soooo ugly! OK, ugliER (I mean, come on penises ain’t all that pretty to begin with.) I guess in the dark they all feel the same, but I’d never put an uncut penis in my mouth, though. Gross.

If I had a son(s) I would definitely cut. It’s just cleaner & boys are too messy!

      • Jaybird says:

That’s really limiting yourself. Expand your mind a little. The cleanliness thing is a myth of epic proportions.
Imagine a man wouldn’t sleep with you unless you had previously had part of your genitalia removed. Imagine if you hadn’t had that done, and he called you dirty. Imagine how that would make you feel – all for simply being born with all of your parts intact.
You might rethink your position on the subject.

      • Minx says:

@ladytron2000 At the risk of getting way TMI, I couldn’t disagree more about peens being ugly. I may be in the minority on this, I really don’t know, but I think they are far from it. Quite the opposite actually. I appreciate different strokes for different folks though. I find them fascinating, and the function of a fully intact penis is amazingly ingenious. I never realized how much of a purpose foreskin serves until I researched a bit. It really is there for a reason and not just sexual pleasure.

For the record, I thought Alex’s was beautiful (I can just imagine what it would look like at full attention), but I have yet to see anything on this guy that isn’t. He’s even got pretty feet for crying out loud! Life is so unfair.

@Jaybird Agree with everything you said.

      • Sophie says:

No, they definitely do not feel the same.

      • Nya says:

That’s cool, I doubt any European man would want his penis in your mouth anyway.

And the things about “boys are too messy!” uh…..are you stuck in 1957?

      • Baskingshark says:

Let’s try a gender flip on that, shall we? “Ew, gross, I never date women with natural breasts. Implants feel sooooo much better and more squeezable. If I ever have a daughter, I’m getting her a pair of Courtney Stodden-style tripple-D’s.”

Offensive when a member of the opposite gender makes judgey remarks about your body, isn’t is?

  13. CaribbeanLaura says:

Sigh am I the only one who thinks his jeans are too tight? mind you I’ll still hit it with the force of a viking God, but the jeans man the jeans!!!

    • cr says:

His shirts are tighter across the chest as well, I’m presuming he’s bulking up for the South Pole trek in two months. So for now, his clothes will be a little tighter.

    • Raven says:

I think he’s been bulking up, hence the tighter jeans. I love me some beefier Skars, but those jeans need to go, tight or not.

    • Ashling says:

Alex always has trouble with his casual pants. He rarely wears pants that are just right and flattering. I wonder when The Giver starts filming.

    • Decloo says:

I love his tight-ish pants. He’s got the bod for it. I hate men in fat pants and mom jeans. If you’ve got it, flaunt it.

    • Mel says:

      ^^^
      Agreed

  14. Vesta says:

Hmph. What is this – I come here to see possible trouser snake pics, and all I can find is a trouser phone 🙁

    *curses modern times*

  15. sheda says:

i haven’t watch the last 2 seasons of true blood was it big . if yes i might go and catch up on it.

  16. RJ says:

You can see the uncensored photos of that scene here: http://beastsofman.tumblr.com/post/58660048405/alexander-skarsgard-frontal-on-true-blood-season-6

Is it just me or does it look a little…small? Must have been very cold on top of that mountain! I love that he lets it all hang out. Game of Thrones will also flash dong here and there (but nowhere on the level of naked woman they have)

  17. Samigirl says:

Well, I’m glad he did! <3

  18. RHONYC says:

    VIKING.
    ARM.
    HAAAIIRRRR!!!

    *faints on keyboard* 😆

  19. trixie says:

    YUM.

Is it me or has he been looking particularly good lately??

  20. Maureen says:

I’ve no opinion on the nudity, but God he’s gorgeous. Can’t wait for footage of his South Pole excursion.

  21. springisnear says:

I do think slightly less of him if he visits the Marmont that much. I guess you have to be famous or rich to understand the appeal of that place.

    • RJ says:

I think one appeal of the Marmont is that it’s very private, they have excellent security/staff & their setup makes it hard to get papped there once you’re inside

    • cr says:

I don’t think he actually visits that much. If he were really visiting a few times a month when he’s in LA, even if just for business meetings, I think we’d have more pics of him arriving/leaving, since there are paps who hang out there. We don’t.

  22. Amanda_M87 says:

    I’ve gotta see this!

  23. Miss Jupitero says:

The word is out, and I swear these gals were reading my mind:

    http://jezebel.com/female-hbo-viewers-demand-more-dong-1140212309

I think more actors should INSIST on showing dong in the name of equality. Kudos to Alex!

  24. Holden says:

And that was in the snow!

  25. Jenna says:

    Oh, Skarsie…

I’m here in his homeland if anyone wants me to ship them a Viking.

  26. Camille (TheOriginal) says:

    Gorgeous!

  27. Minx says:

“It’s gotten to the point where Alexander Skarsgard is just an automatic post for me…Skarsgard has become one of those people. And I’m not sure why.”

Because he’s ridiculously, inhumanly beautiful and watching him clip his fingernails would be fascinating? Eh, ours is not to question why. It is to thank you profusely for posting anyway!

    Pleeeeeeeze, carry on.

    • Vesta says:

“watching him clip his fingernails would be fascinating”

A guy concentrating on clipping fingernails is actually always kind of absorbing… but you’re right – of course Alex would be extra fascinating 🙂

  28. DailyNightly says:

Anyone get the feeling that Stephen Moyer is a wee bit jealous?

  29. SpankFD says:

Now we all want to visit Sweden, home of the viking thunder gods. Thank you, Alex!
