Lauren Conrad got engaged to some guy so she could finally plan her wedding

Believe it or not, I kind of like Lauren Conrad. I think that’s the point, right? She’s so blandly inoffensive that most people are like, “Yeah, she’s okay. I don’t actively dislike her.” So I imagine that many people will be moderately happy for Lauren now – she’s engaged to her boyfriend of ?? about a year I guess, William Tell. It’s not like people really know who is and it’s not like it really matters, I guess. Lauren strikes me as the kind of girl who just wanted to get married. She was looking for an inoffensive dude to marry. And she found him. Congrats!

Tell is a musician – you can see his Wiki page here. My guess is that he doesn’t really do that much these days besides “date LC” but you never know. In an interesting turn of events, LC got engaged the same weekend that her first boyfriend, Jason Wahler, got married. Nice timing, LC. It’s feeling a bit like Jessica Simpson or Kaley Cuoco in here.

Wonderfully enough, LC posted this message on her blog, along with a photo of her engagement ring:

I am very excited to share with you guys that William and I got engaged over the weekend. I am beyond thrilled! Get ready for lots more wedding content here on LaurenConrad.com as we begin the planning process.

UPDATE: William and I are overwhelmed by all of your warm wishes. Thank you so much for sharing in this special moment 🙂

XO Lauren

[From LC’s blog]

Does anyone else think it’s hilarious that she can’t simply announce her engagement, that she has to shill while announcing her engagement? “Get ready for lots more wedding content here on LaurenConrad.com as we begin the planning process.” And that’s what it was all about. Did she want to get married? Sure. But she REALLY wanted to plan a wedding a extend her lifestyle brand to wedding crap.

Her ring is pretty… but it’s just like her, kind of bland.

William Tell is in law school. I don’t know how I know that but I’m pretty sure it was in some magazine or on her Instagram or something. So he’s not doing nothing. He’s just not famous is all.

I’m happy for her. She wasn’t a particularly compelling reality show star but I stopped watching the Hills once she left so I guess she was more compelling than I gave her credit for back then. I like how she and her dad were able to capitalize on her fame so she could pursue fashion. Some of her clothes at Kohls are very cute.

I do believe the story in People claimed he was a law school student? Either way, I’m not interested.

  3. Haley says:

love her and loved him when he was with Something Corporate. congrats to them.

Holy crap, he’s THAT William Tell? Wowza. Man, I was obsessed with SoCo back in high school days. Mind = blown!

  4. O says:

Congrats. Lauren Tell’s a very awesome sounding name

  5. eliza says:

Good for her. I always liked her.

The ring is nice and simple. I hate over done engagement monstrosities.

    • Bopit says:

agreed. I think a solitaire is classy and timeless.

    • Florc says:

Looks almost like my ring. Sometimes those things don’t photograph as well as they look and a Brilliant cut solitaire is a timeless look. Personally, I would have thought it would be a 6 prong setting over a 4. Always thought 6 just looked nicer with that cut.

  6. Caz says:

    I hope this engagement leads to a wedding…otherwise she’ll be very embarrassed…

  7. Tara says:

Yes this one is meh but how can I snark on a young woman with drine, ambition, style and talent. And I doubt she twerks.

    • Florc says:

Zero shade here. She works hard and a lot. The girl is always doing something and doing it well. I greatly admire her hustle and expected her to shill as she goes.

    • Tara says:

Ita. I feel the same way about Jessica Simpson and Victoria Beckham. Technically there’s plenty there to take jabs at but I just can’t because they work tirelessly at their brand building. Since female empowerment is so buzzy these days I kind of like it when one can actually see it in motion.

I hate solitaires unless they are nice a big so I love LCs ring. It looks like its from Tiffanys.

I was just going to say it looks like a Tiffany’s ring. 🙂

I understand getting to an age or a place in your life where you’re just ready to get married so you marry the guy who’re with at the time. Unfortunately I did it…and divorced. One of my best friends did the same thing last year, and just divorced after only 13 months. Also, I think especially in the age of Pinterest, a bajillion wedding mags, & crap shows like “Say yes to the dress” it becomes all about the WEDDING and people don’t always think about the ‘ever after’ part. My niece is currently in this stage and I’m trying to get her to cool her heels a bit. With LC’s plug about putting her wedding plans on her website it sounds like this might be the case. Hopefully I’m just being cynical and they live happily ever after.

    • Bridget says:

Not Tiffany’s. They use a signature 6 prong setting and this ring only has 4.

  9. janie says:

I’m not sure she does much of anything? She’s cute & nice, so she’ll make a cute, nice bride. She got engaged the same day her x got married? Good luck.

  10. Kris says:

    She is definitely the ultimate
“getting married for the wedding” girl. Exactly, not only does she get to plan a wedding but she gets to extend her line. I think actual marriage will be a bit of a rude awakening.

  11. Ktx says:

As others before me have said, I think her fiancé is in law school. I don’t think it’s fair to label her the kind of girl who “just wanted to get married.” Is she Jennifer Love Hewitt, engaged to a stream of guys, babbling on about marriage? I like her ring too. It’s like mine- except she got the bigger rock. 🙂

  12. Miss M says:

    Congratulations to them both!

She doesn’t strike me as someone who just wants to get married for the sake of getting married.

  13. AmyLynne says:

I love her! Her blog is cute and I always buy her clothes at Kohls. I hope they make it down the aisle and have a happy marriage.

  14. Maude says:

William Tell is a great guy. He was in Something Corporate back in the day, and whenever I talked to him, he couldn’t have been friendlier. I was disappointed when he left the band to do a solo project. I know he went to USC and if I am correct, he is actually in law school.

He is really very nice looking.

    Good for both of them!

  15. We Miss You Enclave_24 says:

My goodness she is the definition of generic. Congrats!

  16. Amanda G says:

Beautiful ring. I’m so happy for her. I never understood the hate for her. She managed to turn her 15 minutes of reality TV into a career in fashion (her first love) and books – all without taking off her clothes or going the tabloid route like Speidi or the Kardashians. She’s gorgeous too and seems like the type of chick I could be friends with in real life. I will always be a fan. I’m a little bummed that this wedding will officially mean there will be not chance of her and Brody giving it another go though LOL I always liked them together.

  17. Norman says:

Congrats to both Lauren and William. Best wishes on their engagement and marriage. Not you typical Hollywood peer pressure PR arrangement but one on companionship and trust. Congrats again.

  18. Embee says:

Wait William Tell like the overture? The opera? How cheese.

  19. chops 116 says:

she’s gone from teenage reality star to a beautiful classy woman with a thriving business… always admired her and wish them the best
