Star: Lily Collins is a brat with an ‘out of control ego,’ she is ‘terrible to deal with’

Lily Collins

Lily Collins has reached a crossroads in her still relatively new acting career. She’s always maintained that all of her jobs are due to her own drive and talent and not because her dad is Phil Collins. She’s a little bit defensive about nepotism and insists no one has ever made a phone call to score her an acting gig.

Then Lily’s big turn as a leading lady fell flat when the Mortal Instruments: City of Bones movie only made $31 million on a $60 million budget. The studio, Constantin, had already begun production but decided to put a sequel on hold. A few months later, Constantin has decided to go ahead with the sequel — maybe because they’ve already lost money and thought, “What the hell, why not lose more?” Perhaps the sequel will go straight to DVD.

Regardless of what’s going on with Lily’s acting, she’s doing okay with endorsements. She just replaced Emma Watson as the face of Lancome. Plus Lily gets invited to Paris fashion week where she sits on the front row with the likes of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian.

Lily Collins

I guess Lily must feel pretty important, and now Star is running a story about her “out-of-control ego.” Ruh-roh:

Lily Collins

Lily Collins is getting a little big for her couture britches. The actress daughter of singer Phil Collins “will completely ignore anyone who isn’t A-list,” says a source. “And at a recent party in Bel Air, she literally threw her cocktail on the carpet because she didn’t like it! Everyone was horrified.” Now Lily’s reputation is starting to precede her. “One editor cancelled a photo shoot because she heard Lily was terrible to deal with,” claims the source. “She’ll demand to bring her own stylist and is so prissy that she refuses to use a bathroom that’s been used by someone else. Her ego is going to ruin her career if she doesn’t get herself in check!”

[From Star, print edition, November 4, 2013]

Hmm, are we sure Lily didn’t throw her cocktail on the floor because it contained too many calories for her liking? I’m not even trying to be rude with that question — Lily has lost a lot of weight over the past few years. I hope she’s not really this much of a brat. It does not bode well for her career.

One thing that I do know is true: Lily needs to stop doing the “kissy” pose on the red carpet. It looks ridiculous.

She did the kissy pose in her Snow White movie, too!

  2. Kit says:

I always wondered just how thick her eyebrows would be if she stopped plucking/waxing them.

    • Val says:

I have super thick eyebrows too and I have to pluck them half off. So they’d be double in size if I didn’t. Nightmare.

  3. It'sJustBlanche says:

Maybe the cocktail just fell out of her hand because she was too weak from hunger to hold it?

  4. IrishGirl says:

@It’sJustBlanche: LOL!…I spit my coffee on the keyboard laughing at your comment.

  5. MissMoody says:

One thing I know for sure is that Hollywood needs to stop trying to make Lily Collins happen. I’ve read ALL the Mortal Instrument books and I like them. The movie was terribly miscast imo. Physically, Lily Collins did look the part but girl lacks that spark. You are born with it but it’s not genetic. Nepotism never bothered me too much but with Lily Collins being shoved down our throats even though she isn’t and hasn’t been bringing it and then Emma Roberts tainting AHS and my dear Evan Peters (and don’t even get me started on Jaden Smith..), I just want all celebrity children to disappear. Except the Brangelina clan because I must know what Z is wearing

    • magda says:

      @MissMoody

I really hated the books and being obligated to go to the cinema with my little sister I ended enjoying it – stupid but watchable, I didn’t have the feeling ‘OMG this is hurting my brain’. I think Mortal Instruments suffers from Twilight reputation and their own fan fiction roots.

      @Bedhead
and another article here where you don’t remember about box office numbers outside US. not that MI was a big hit everywhere else 😉

    • Kassandra says:

I was just about to comment with “Great. Another Emma Roberts.” Neither have talent and both are where they are due to their famous family members, period. And it looks like both a unjustified brats, too (justified brats being labeled divas who have actually put in work/achieved something).

      • ncmagnolia says:

Kassandra….you saved me from typing my thought bubble word for word. Thank you!

I see the bratty, abusive Emma has toppled to TV land, albeit in one of my fav shows, AHS.

    • Leslie says:

I agree. I’ve seen her on several late night shows, and she was showing pix of her with Lady Di, and Prince Charles, and her dad, etc. And then in another mag interview, she went on and on about how she wasn’t going to use her dad Phil Collins to make her way in Hollywood, how she doesn’t smoke, drink and do drugs (red flag right there).

Saw a bit of Abduction, and she was TERRIBLE. So was Taylor Lautner, so I didn’t watch the whole movie.

      • Miss M says:

I just came here to say she was horrible in “Abduction”. I guess nobody noticed because Taylot L. was worse.

  6. mkyarwood says:

Real ladies throw their drinks in faces.

  7. Obsidian says:

She should do something about those eyebrows. It overtakes the face. Everytime I see her pics, all I see are those eyebrows.

    • Lupe says:

She’d probably look a bit more polished if she took some off, but I think they actually suit her face, especially with the shorter, lighter hair she has going on in some of these pictures. Thick eyebrows are having a moment, I actually wish I could get mine to grow in a bit more!

    • Spooks says:

I love her eyebrows. I wish mine could be thicker. I never ever plucked them, but they won’t get thicker.

    • Rilla says:

Yeah, she’d definitely look really good with thinner eyebrows. They’re so distracting.

    • Pandy says:

I love her eyebrows but her makeup in that last pic – the red lips are very harsh and aging on her. And the kissy face – oh yeah, it’s got to go.

  8. MAM says:

Now the media is paring her with Zac Efron, which might help them both, but I don`t think that relationship is legit

  9. janie says:

If daddy Phil isn’t behind this.. why is everything reported has his name in it? Grow up!

  10. mytbean says:

Every hair that Phil Collins lost from his head took root on Lily’s face. Wow.

  11. eliza says:

Ummmmm, am I the only one who has never heard of this Mortal City if Bones business? When the heck did it come out? I seriously missed the whole shebang on that one.

    • EmmaV1 says:

It’s basis is in Harry Potter fan fiction with elements taken from Buffy Vampire Slayer, Bleach (some Japanese tv show), Star Wars, Twilight, and much more.

The author is a confirmed plagiarist and a non-confirmed psychotic bully.

Short story, you’re not missing much.

      • Axis2ClusterB says:

I always thought psychotic bully was pretty confirmed, too 😉

      • Jay says:

Oh, I can confirm the psychotic bully bit. I was in Harry Potter fandom back when she was huge. She’s a nasty, nasty woman.

      • Musey says:

Yeah, I have vivid memories of all the Cassandra Claire internet drama back in the day. There is no justice in the world if that plagiarist can get a book and movie deal.

  12. Mimi says:

She wears too much make-up, it’s aging her. She is not a big enough star to headline movies. I don’t know how she is getting these parts.

    • MisJes says:

I do! Despite her protests, Phil is absolutely calling every last favour he has in the business for her, no question. She couldn’t act her way out of a wet paper bag.

  13. paola says:

Oh my god she’s so lucky! she gets to sit with Kim and Kanye!

    *ironic comment*

  14. freya says:

City of Bones made over 80 million though, you’re only looking at the US numbers. It may surprise you, but there’s a whole world outside the US borders.

    • Lucy Goosey says:

Yes and, luckily, the world outside of our borders has better taste!

    • EmmaV1 says:

Regardless, it had a 60 million marketing budget as well, so 120 million total budget. 80 million gross versus a 120 million budget equals a big time loss.

Anyway, the sequel isn’t going ahead…it’s just the studio blowing smoke to try to drive up home video sales that’s coming out in a 4-6 wseks.

      • Tiffany :) says:

Emma, you are exactly right about the marketing budget and disappointing box office, even with international sales included.

    • Cara says:

The movie GROSSED $82 million, but in reality they net roughly 50% of that. This means they’ve made only $41 million total worldwide. This doesn’t even chip off the $60 million budget, $30 million domestic marketing and $60 million international marketing.

  15. bettyrose says:

Career? Why can’t she just be a useless socialite like the rest of the front row at fashion week?

  16. Chickie Baby says:

It’s those eyebrows! They are the source of evil. I don’t care if that’s the latest trend or her hallmark—-they are way too heavy for a girl that young.

I just can’t look at pics of Lily without remembering Brooke Shields back in the 80’s with HER big ‘ol brows. Someone get some tweezers, STAT!

  17. Cara says:

    Another Emma Roberts. How surprising.

In other news I don’t believe the sequel will actually happen. This news comes like two weeks after they revealed the DVD and Blu-ray release dates and started promoting it on Amazon. I think they’re hoping that acting like the movie isn’t a flop and a failed franchise attempt will trick people into taking a chance on buying the DVD.

  18. Keish says:

I don’t believe this story. Sounds fabricated. Star was too bored and didn’t know what to discuss.

  19. Keish says:

If her PR people were smart, they would be pairing her with the big up and coming Hollywood catches like Benedict Cumberbatch or Tom Hiddston or A-List leading men like Leonardo DiCaprio. Or at least pair her with one of the One Direction boys. Zac Efron isn’t going to give her that much attention.

    • Jasmine says:

Her PR people should put with Robert Pattinson instead of Zac Efron! Zac Efron/Lily pairing is so boring.

  20. miriam says:

I find it quite repulsive when actresses do that awful kissy thing. Just stop. You like a prat and a completely conceited loser.

  21. buckley says:

    I think I spy Isabelle Huppert…

  22. Mel says:

I actually like the books and there are a lot. Mindless reading that doesn’t require thinking to hard just to escape and unwind. I hated the movie though, very bad casting but I think that’s what you get with books like this, Twilight, 50 shades, etc….

  23. ladybug says:

My best friend is a good friend of hers. I’ve never met Lilly but I’ve met her mother Jill a bunch of times. Jill is sweet, if not a bit cooky, but from what my friend tells me Lilly is pretty nice. I can’t imagine her being this horrid.

  24. Lauren says:

She is ridiculous. I want this shit to be true and for more to come out and bury her….

  25. sally says:

Lily used to look younger than her age, but now she looks 35. What’s going on? She looks old

  26. Jasmine says:

Her neck in the second picture looks like it belongs to a 60 year old woman. She is a pretty girl, but she needs to quit with the weight loss. She has aged and not in a good way. She went from looking 17 to looking middle aged in a year! The heavy makeup doesn’t help either. My sister who doesn’t know who Lily was thought she was in her 30s. She has lost her youthful appearance. 🙁

  27. Meanchick says:

Nepotism doesn’t bother me, IF the kid is actually intelligent, talented and puts in the work. I’m not okay with kids who get “offended” by the mere mention of nepotism because they KNOW w/o mommy, daddy or grandpappy, that career would be Nowheresville! In other news, this girl needs to say hello to a good moisturizer for that neck!

  28. Jasmine says:

I hope no one told her to lose weight. I hate when women lose unnecessary weight. She looks better with a little bit of meat on her bones. The weight loss just ages her and makes her look tired. Lily claims she uses moisturizer every day. She needs to use it on her neck before she’ll be playing older parts instead of younger!

  29. sally says:

I find most young women who looked younger than their age typically age bad. I know plenty of young women who looked like 15 year olds in their mid twenties and then terribly aged in the blink of an eye. They went from looking fresh and young to looking like soccer moms in only a few years. Baby faces don’t age well. I can tell this is happening with Lily.

  30. Chrissy says:

Unfortunately I believe this. About a year ago I though she was really cute, but her more recent photos look really pretentious. She’s trying much to hard to look “edgy” (I hate that word!). Her acting work so far has not earned her any right to act like a big shot. I doubt her career will go much farther than cosmetic endorsements if she doesn’t get wise and start behaving with some grace and dignity.

  31. Photo JoJo says:

Those eyebrows are just TOO much.

  32. Caroline says:

I agree, the duck faces need to stop.
