Dina Eastwood on why Francesca married Jonah Hill’s brother: for the thrill

dina1
Dina Eastwood was a guest on Bethenny Frankel’s talkshow yesterday. Dina did some damage control for her stepdaughter, Francesca, 20, who just married Jonah Hill’s playboy brother, Jordan Feldstein, on a whim in Vegas and is having the marriage annulled. I have to say that Dina looks great, divorce agrees with her. (Disclosure: Dina emailed me once and she was so nice that I think of her differently now. I’m rooting for her. This never happens so don’t think we’re going soft! For instance Brandi Glanville emailed me ages ago, but we’re still pretty objective about her.)

When Dina was on Bethenny’s show, she explained the love mixed with exasperation that must go along with having children who are starting to make their way in the world. She said she wanted to strangle and then hug Francesca, and that she was still waiting to hear the full story of what went down. Dina said that an annulment is underway:

On why Francesca got married
She’s an adrenaline junkie. She’s a lovely, smart amazing person who will do a goof off at a whim.

On if it was a PR stunt
No, goodness no PR stunt oh gosh. All the Eastwood children are out of the spotlight don’t like to do stuff.Francesca would actually do something like that thinking that no one would ever find out. They don’t get that they are tied to Clint Eastwood or that they have a little bit of success on their own. So she calls me and says, ‘I didn’t think anyone would find out.’ Are you sh***** me? Like what are you doing? Get home. I just want to ring her neck but I am going to hug her too.

On if Francesca was drunk when she got married
She says no drinking but she’s 20 so of course she tells her step-mom no drinking. What are you thinking? Probably, let’s go have a fun day. I don’t know what you’re thinking but I am going to find out this week I hope. I do think annulment, yes, is occurring as we sit on the couch.

[From Bethenny, received via email]

My kid is not yet in his teens, and I am dreading the time when I have to deal with anything like this. I don’t even want to talk about it for fear that I’m going to jinx something. I do have to disagree with Dina’s assertion that “all the Eastwood children are out of the spotlight.” I mean it may seem like that day-to-day, but there’s Scott.

As far as Francesca is concerned, is she always going to be a “divorcee” from now on? An annulment means that the marriage never happened, but the press isn’t going to let her live this down. (See: me) Francesca currently attends the University of Southern California. She was also Miss Golden Globe this year, so she may have a media career yet.

Here’s a clip of Dina on Bethenny’s show:

Really, people you write about email you? For some reason, that just blew my mind.

  2. Han says:

The comment she made about Francesca being out of the spotlight is bullshit. Francesca was on the ill fated reality show with Dina Eastwood. She is a reality star.

    • Seapharris7 says:

Exactly. There was also a lot of negative press when she destroyed a $100k purse for “Art”.

  3. Lark says:

Say what you want about Dina and the fact she probably stepped out, but Clint is notorious for screwing around on his wives and girlfriends over the years. I can’t recall her name (it was before Frances Fisher), but he was in a long term relationship with a live in girlfriend and secretly fathered two children (Scott Eastwood and his sister) while he was with her & when she found out, he locked her out of the house and I believe the police had to get involved. I believe he also knocked up one of his mistresses while still married, and that’s another one of his kids…. I’m surprised that Scott apparently speaks glowingly of Clint and changed his last name considering Clint was apparently a complete d-bag towards his mother and kept Scott & his sister a secret for a good portion of their childhood. Anyway, my point is I doubt Clint was an angel in the relationship and I was kind of shocked by the vitriol aimed at this woman.

    • gg says:

Sondra Locke. And he put her in movies with him while he was married if I recall.

      • JudyK says:

Yes, it was Sondra Locke, and they were together for many, many years.

      • Lark says:

That’s her name, Sondra…Thanks…. I was just surprised at how the Clint thing with Dina was spun as him being a “sweet old man” being taken advantage of in most of the press…I was like bish plz, he’s worse than Jack Nicholson but at least old Jack was never cruel…and Clint seemed downright cruel to the way he treated the women in his life.

    • Maureen says:

Yeah, it was Sandra Locke. That was back in my day. I was really young but my parents were Eastwood fans, so I remember them talking about this scandal. Sandra also accused Clint of forcing her to get an abortion. She made a LOT of serious accusations about what went on in their very long and very troubled relationship.

    • mayamae says:

Clint wasn’t even on the birth certificates of Scott or his sister. I only acknowledged them later in life. If a woman had children by 4-5 men, there’d be some slut shaming going on.

    • Kate says:

I don’t feel sorry for Sondra though. She was with Clint when he was still married to her first wife Maggie. Sooooo if you’re cheating with someone, don’t be surprised when you’re cheated on.

  4. blue marie says:

Whether Dina is nice or not doesn’t change the fact that there are some folks in that family that are attention seekers, including her.

  5. Assistant Rachel says:

So Francesca can get married on a whim for a thrill, but thousands of gay couples in love are denied the same right… This is one of the reasons why I don’t believe in marriage.

    • lisa2 says:

It is amazing isn’t it.. how all these people hold the right to get married as such a sacred thing. Yet time and time again we see how trivial it is treated by the people that are legally able to do it. Where are outcries from the people against gay marriage. Why don’t we see them picketing on the streets and screaming how wrong it is for someone to get married on a whim.

Wonder if Congress will take this up in there next session.

    • doofus says:

Just what I was going to comment on.

THIS type of thing is what makes a mockery of the “institution of marriage”, not a loving gay couple who have been together for years and are committed to each other, for better or for worse.

      • Lucky Charm says:

Not to mention having your wedding televised for ratings! Or dating on tv to find a spouse to begin with. Yet as long as it involves just one man and one woman, it’s ok for the protection of the sanctity of marriage. Smh…

    • Frida_K says:

Yes, this exactly was my first thought.

How is it that them-there homoselectuals are RUININ’ marriage for the rest of us Decent, Patriot, God-FEARIN’ Americans again?

Or is it really twits like this one who make a mockery of the institution?

I’ll go with door number 2, thanks.

      Derrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!

    • Hakura says:

That is a great point, that didn’t even come to mind. It’s absolutely *insane* that gay couples have actually had to resort to *legally adopting* eachother, just to get the state to recognize a ‘legal connection’ between them, & the privileges that come with it (& they end up having to be recognized as *family*, while having a romantic relationship). It’s disgusting that we’re still SO backward in so many ways. It just goes to show that (not all of, but too many of) those who DO have the privilege don’t truly appreciate it, or consider those who unfairly *don’t*.

  6. Inconceivable! says:

So it was “adrenaline” and not “alcohol” that caused this bad decision in LAS VEGAS?!!!! I’m not buying it.

    • bluhare says:

Me either. Alcohol and drugs is my take.

    • LadySlippers says:

Agreed. How does getting married even have anything to do with adrenaline? Going on a roller coaster, sky diving, bungee jumping — that’s an adrenaline rush so I was stumped by that sentence. It makes no sense.

  7. feebee says:

Married for the thrill of it. Like a 2 minute roller coaster ride. Whew, that was fun, what’s next? Ah, how about making annulments harder to get so they get to enjoy the “thrill” for longer?

    • Seapharris7 says:

The thing that gets me, it was VEGAS! There wasn’t enough to do for a *thrill*? Aren’t there thrill rides that basically drop you off the side of a building?

    • LadySlippers says:

I hadn’t read your comment before posting mine! Lol. Great minds think alike. 😉

  8. JudyK says:

Watched Dina a couple of times on the reality show and think she’s nuts.

She and Bethenny are good company for each other.

  9. Maureen says:

These people EMAIL YOU? Wow. I can’t even imagine that. If they’re emailing you, how many other bloggers are they emailing? I wonder.

  10. Eunice says:

I’ve heard that Dina always had a great relationship with Clint’s children. You can’t be that terrible if you can get all 6 of your husband’s kids from previous relationships to like you. She’s still an attention seeker, but probably not a bad person.

  11. bowers says:

The children of celebrities like to be “famous” also, but are usually stalked because of their famous parent(s).

  12. Ginger says:

Francesca looks a lot like her mom. All of the Eastwood children are gorgeous. Come on now…getting married as a lark just because you are in my town? That’s silly but I will give her a pass since she’s 20. I suppose she could be doing worse things.

  13. Suze says:

    Adrenaline = Alcohol + Stupidity

  14. Palermo says:

As someone who takes marriage very seriously I find this very offensive. Married on a whim, blah blah blah, drunk as a skunk more likely. They’re called vows for a reason, but you really mean what you just stood there and said.

    • Hakura says:

@Palermo – Sadly, many of the younger generation (I’m 27, so Im referring to those who came after) don’t view marriage as the same important, intimate, committment that it truly is. Not that this is an excuse, but look at all the examples they have in Hollywood, 3 &4 spouses, divorced after 6 months or less in some cases.

And while it’s not *wrong* to get divorced if it’s truly the best option considering your circumstances, kid’s first concept of a ‘relationship’ comes from watching their parents… so they look to their divorced parents, & eventually just start seeing marriage as something that can be ‘temporary’… Almost like it’s become ‘going steady’ instead of true vows of devotion to the person you love.

  15. cody says:

I did not even know Jonah Hill had a play boy brother. Wonder what Jordan’s excuse was for marrying her. If he has a play boy life style why get married? Also, interesting how all the gossip focuses in on Francesca and really not Jordan.

  16. Jalouse says:

Clint has a long record of not treating women well. He especially harshed Sondra Locke. That’s beside the point. Dina should keep her mouth shut. She is not this girl’s mother. If I were either Francesca or her mom, I’d be pissed.

    • jwoolman says:

I think Francesca spent a lot of time with Dina as a child. So there’s more of a maternal relationship there.

  17. Naomi says:

Seems like someone is sending her Dad a message about marriage. Obviously she is still a kid and upset about the divorce.
Well Clint and all his shenanigans had it coming…

  18. Caroline says:

She’s pulling a Britney. I think people will forget it if she can grow up after this experience (like Nicole Richie)
