Will Jamie Dornan go ‘Full Fassbender’ in ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’?

FFN_FiftyShades_JKing_120913_51283081

Last week, we discussed the sketchy situation with Fifty Shades of Grey and the MPAA (the Hollywood ratings board). Most theater chains will simply not run films that have anything more intense than an R-rating. Which means that much of the “sex” in Fifty Shades will have to be toned down, which will in turn piss off the die-hard fans of the series. So, the solution being thrown around is basically: they’re going to release one version of the film which is rated R in theaters, and then a short time later, they’ll offer an NC-17 version, perhaps on pay-per-view or something. Is that a decent solution? I don’t even know.

But here’s something that I didn’t even question: should Jamie Dornan show his dong? I hate that we’re not even questioning the idea that Dakota Johnson is totally going to be doing nude scenes, with the R-rated version AND the NC-17 version. But will the MPAA even allow for any Dornan Dong to be shown at all?

Dakota Johnson won’t be the only one doffing her duds in the Fifty Shades of Grey film – Star has learned that Jamie Dornan will go full-frontal for his role as kinky millionaire Christian Grey.

“Fifty Shades of Grey producers know they have to make the screen version just as steamy as the novel to make it a success,” the insider says. “They can’t turn it into a Disney movie.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

I saw some sites referring to this as “The Full Fassbender” – is this really Michael Fassbender’s legacy in film? The normalization of full-frontal male nudity? Because there’s nothing normal about the Fassdong. I am curious about Dornan though… mm… Irish actors and dongs. Love it. I hope that Dornan feels a responsibility to do nudity, especially if his female costar is showing all. Ewan McGregor always said that he did so many nude scenes “for the sisters.” I hope Dornan feels the same way.

I don’t know why, but I already feel uncomfortable just thinking about the scenes.. I’m gonna see the movie out of curiosity since I’ve read the two first books, but I really don’t wanna see the Dornan Dong..

    • Maureen says:

I feel the same as you except I won’t be seeing this movie. I actually have no attraction — even out of curiosity — to scenes of women being violently manhandled.

      • Jenny says:

This ^^^ a 1000000 times! The current fascination so many women seem to have with bdsm with the women being manhandled and hurt isn’t sexy at all. To me it is sickening and the women in these “sexy” stories need self-esteem counseling.

Just saw the Fall though and thought Dornan was brilliant as the murderer. Wish he would get other, better roles than this 50 shades part.

      • JALorden says:

@Jenny Someone’s sexual preferences being on the rougher side doesn’t automatically equal them having bad self-esteem. There are many women who enjoy BDSM and are healthy and aware of themselves and more in control of their sex lives than women who don’t enjoy BDSM. TO YOU it may be sickening, but that was a very narrow and judgemental statement.

    • Andrea says:

I won’t be a hypocrite…I’m a straight woman and its what I’m attracted to so show me the donggg!

  2. Lana says:

    C’mon! We’ve already seen Dornan’s “dong”!

  3. Anna says:

Oh boy. I hope he does. Then I miiiiiight just watch. But I am already getting tingly feelings from those photos. He does give a good ‘I am in control and I will ravage you’ face.

    • CaribbeanLaura says:

I love the pics too! I’ve never read the books. But those pictures are the business. I predict that the first movie will make a s@#t ton of money at the box office and the other two will not.

    • Stef Leppard says:

He has serious angryface all the time.

  4. Secret Squirrel says:

NOTHING will get me into the cinema to watch this rubbish. Nakedness or not, I just don’t want to be part of something so….overtly obvious? *shudders*

    • LadySlippers says:

Squirrel, We can just have another drinking fest instead. And drool over other cute boys or rewatch The Deep Blue Sea. Totally open.

  5. marie says:

i will have to see this movie now

  6. Dorothy#1 says:

Just thinking of Ewan Mc Gregor and his many nude scenes makes me happy! 😄😍

  7. Dani2 says:

Mm okay so I just might hate-watch this after all. My bf is gonna have to pay though, nothing like a shady BDSM-flop movie on Valentines Day 😉

  8. ldub says:

i’ve seen it before in some of his previous modeling work and…its nice….yeah, its nice. lol

  9. mom2two says:

That still will not make me see this movie. If he does show it all off, that’s going to be the NC-17 version. They really took a gorgeous guy and fugged him up for this movie. He looks so much better with scruff and curls.

  10. the other Kate says:

I love you, Kaiser 🙂 Your articles are the best parts of my days at work 😉

  11. M.A.F. says:

Penis shot or not, I still will not watch this film.

    • gefeylich says:

Yeah. And I’m sorry, but even if I was interested in this POS movie (adapted from a POS book), a penis has to be attached to someone I find attractive, sexy and interesting, and this bland piece of boring meat ain’t it.

And I just realized that ALL of these things have to be in play for me to want to see it. So: nix to Benedict Cumberbatch’s junk (attractive and interesting but not sexy), yes to Alexander Skarsgard’s jewels (THREE POINTER which I’ve seen on True Blood yay!), no to the Hammaconda (because to paraphrase Mrs. Iris Mountbatten, those trousers leave nothing to the imagination, so what would be the point?), etc.

  12. Really says:

He better show it. The only enjoyable fantasy part of the books for me was the fact that not only was there a man that made sure the woman had an orgasm every time, but she usually had it first. So to make the movie enjoyable there had better be lots of pretty penis.

  13. Violeta says:

Fassbender’s “legacy”??? LOL because Jamie is Irish too or?… as if the likes of Liam Neeson and other Harvey Keitel didn’t go full frontal way before… (Yes I get that he made buzz with Shame but still…)

Gosh so this 50 Shades is really happening… urgh!

    • MarilynGray says:

I think the ‘legacy’ idea is not so much about who did it first as who made a statement with it.

Nothing can make me want to see this film. I read the first book out of a writer’s curiosity because I’d heard it was so badly written and they were right.
I have no issue with the bdsm side of things but some other things were just too much. While a 21 year old virgin is not unrealistic, one who had never dreamt about sex or masterbated in her life, who is then able to orgasm first time and be perfect at oral right off the bat? You lost me completely there.

  14. CC says:

I’d be embarrassed to be seen going to this movie. Out of morbid curiosity, I will/might eventually check it within my home, but at the movies? Not a chance. I really don’t want to be identified with the “product”, dong or not.

  15. An says:

    Yes, please!

  16. ilovetobake says:

The reason why I hate FSOG so much is that it gives an inaccurate view of BDSM relationships, which can be quite dangerous. BDSM relationships are based on communication and trust, setting boundaries on what is too much so both parties enjoy BDSM, and not about having so sign a contract. I

  17. starrywonder says:

His nakedness or not I doubt this movie will make much money. Think about it how many people are going to raise their hands and admit to going to see this in the movie.

You are no way getting kids, teenagers, etc. to see this movie due to the rating and what parent would let their kids watch this. I doubt many couples will go see this together so they are really going to have to count on women in groups or men in groups going out to see this and I doubt this happens.

  18. nic says:

I hated these books with a passion I didn’t think I was capable of. Having said that, I am surprised and horrified that I have an opinion about this. I understand why fans of the series might not be happy with the casting of the film. Some of the choices are painfully sad. However, I like Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey. He is gorgeous. I like him with a bit of scruff. But, Dakota Johnson, as cute as she is, I don’t know if she has the kind of appeal to draw an audience in. In the book, Christian has a very specific type of woman. She is brunette, petite, pale, and kind of fragile. This lends itself to the plot and a disturbing revelation on why this type of girl. I imagined Alicia Vikander as Ana. Though, she is far too good for this series. Dakota Johnson just feels off. I hope that makes sense.

  19. FreeSpiritedGirl says:

ah… this guy is growing on me. <3

  20. AmyR says:

Not that I think they’ll do it this way, but the filmmakers could actually get away with not showing Dakota Johnson nude more than they could with not showing Jamie Dornan. It is Ana’s story after all, and she’s so uncomfortable with sex and sexuality that, done with the correct camera angles, they would never have to show Dakota’s “down there.” But I’m not sure how they can avoid showing Jamie’s manhood. (I’m talking getting away with it with the fans by the way, not the MPAA.)

  21. TrixC says:

I don’t understand the American censorship system. Am I correct in thinking that you could take a child to an R rated film? In my country it is quite normal for a film to have an R18 rating, which means that it can’t legally be viewed by anyone under the age of 18. Quite a lot of films shown in mainstream cinemas have this rating, either for violence/horror or sexual content. We also have R13 and R16 ratings. Why is it such a radical concept to insist that some films are only suitable for adults?

    • lunchcoma says:

In the US, children can go to R rated films if they’re accompanied by adults, but not if they’re alone. NC-17 movies can’t be viewed by anyone underage, even with their parents’ permission. I don’t mind the idea that some films are meant only for older people, but the NC-17 rating is problematic because only a very small number of films receive it and most theaters won’t show those movies. For instance, none of the ones in my town or any nearby ones do, and if a movie receives that rating, I have to wait for it to be available on video to watch it, despite being well over the age of 17.

      • LadySlippers says:

LunchComa: I would hardly call 19 well over the age of 17! Geez… 😉

Totally agree with LunchComa. I think most adults would prefer to have some films NC-17 but too many theatres might face a lot of backlash from the conservatives if they were actually shown. Sad too. It limits viewing choices for us all.

Also, plenty of parents take their very young children to R movies. I’m talking 7-8 years olds seeing some very adults movies. Not cool either.

  22. nico says:

Bernardo Bertolucci is the only director that could have pulled this movie off. That man could make the sleaziest scenes sexy. What other director could have pulled off the butter scene in Last Tango in Paris? The Dreamers was sexy as hell.

I’ll probably watch this when it comes out on DVD.

  23. JALorden says:

Jamie has dude full nude photoshoots.. I doubt he’d have an issue with it.

  24. Jennifer12 says:

So it’s totally cool for Dakota to be naked throughout either R or NC17 films- a given, even- but it’s a huge controversy if the male star is going to be naked? Wow, we’ve come such a long way. Not.

  25. Rae says:

Not going to lie- I am there for opening weekend!
