It disturbs me that the media is labeling the 2-year-old boy a “thug.” HE IS A CHILD. It’s not his fault he was born into an irresponsible family. Instead of ostracizing and ridiculing him, we should rally behind the child and reverse this behavior while it’s still possible to do so.

    • Kelly says:

wth, why is he a “thug”????

      lol at the media today….

    • MollyB says:

I don’t think “the media” started labeling him as a thug. The “thug” thing (which is awful) started after a local police department showed the video of the child being encouraged to swear to its staff as an example of how “thug culture” is passed down from parent to child within communities. The police department then got a lot of (warranted) criticism for the racist implications of using a small child as an example of “thug culture”. So that’s why the word “thug” keeps getting linked to media stories of that child.

    • Kelly says:

I just realized you’re all referring to a separate story, not Hilary Duff’s son!
      LOL, my bad

      • Meredith says:

Me too! I was trying to imagine a video where her son was being encouraged to swear to ‘its’ staff!!

    • The Girl Who Would Be King Of The Popes says:

I didn’t watch the video but I read the story a few days ago and found out that they didn’t blur the kid’s face or the face of his sixteen-year-old mother. Thing is, they’re totally perpetuating that cycle–that child’s grandmother is 38. And it’s going to sound cynical, but yeah, of course incidents like this are going to be circled around to play into white fear of ‘hard’ black people, so why add grist to that mill? That kid has been shot but his immature family probably thinks you have to tough to be a man and rough to be a black man, so they give ‘respectable’ people fodder for their prejudices. I’ll bet a lot of people are secretly loving this (they didn’t bother to conceal the identity of the kids), but hell, this is flat out BAD parenting. From what I read, that baby knows his name and how to curse. He’s been shot, she’s unfit, what can you say?

Do the many reports about young people getting married too early hold true? Maybe they do.

Hilary Duff has more resources than most (worth approximately 25 million), she should be able to afford anything she wants: the best divorce attorney, privacy, best care for her son, ect. She certainly won’t be one of those mothers who unfortunately have to raise a child alone without much support.

I’m sure a marriage dissolution hurts the couple involved, but it has always hurt me more when I read about a young couple splitting up. Three years sound like such a short time especially since the days seem to fly by.

A lot of commenters predicted Hillary Duff would have a high probability of divorce, and they were right: http://www.celebitchy.com/113072/hilary_duffs_dream_wedding_in_ok_magazine/

It was smart that they got a prenup. I’m sure their families had urged them to do so because they got married so young. Those who are uneducated and marry young have a higher odds of divorce as one person noted in the 2010 wedding post.

They are both rich and young so I’m sure they will find someone new very soon.

The ish that people said on that thread!!!! Such cynicism, the remarks were harsh but I hurt my throat from laughing.

Did anyone read what David O. Russell said. It is a constant reminder why I will forever be a Clooney fan.

  6. mimi says:

That’s too bad their marriage didn’t last. Their boy is adorable and both seem like loving, caring parents to him who are trying very hard to make the divorce transition as smooth as possible for his sake. I wish them the best of luck. I always liked Hilary and thought she was sensible and mature beyond her years.

  7. Rhiley says:

I don’t favor either one of my biological parents as much as the kid who looks like Conan favors him. I haven’t watched the video because of, well, work, but he looks exactly like him.

  8. atorontogal says:

How old were they when they got married? How young is too young to get married? Most people I know married out of college. Around the age of 21/22 and 30 odd years later still married and happy.
Perhaps the issue is that there is more money than brains out in Hollyweird, and hardly any of them can sustain a relationship.
Honestly, I never see him out with his son, only her.

    • tifzlan says:

You know, now that you’ve mentioned it, i’ve never even seen him out and about with HER. Or all of them out and about together as a family.

  9. Meggin says:

Meh. The kid is cute but she always annoyed me. Even back when she was on Lizzie McGuire and I was like 12 I found her annoying lol.

  10. Vampi says:

I played the Lizzie video game on GBA. It was my kid’s…but still. *headdesk*
