Elisabeth Moss in Michael Kors and the ladies in red at the SAGs: who worked it?

We will be bringing you the fashion from last night’s SAG Awards today, Sunday. There’s a lot to cover and we didn’t want to wait until Monday. If you missed the ceremony you can see videos of the acceptance speeches on SAG’s website and here’s a list of the nominees and winners.

In this post I’ll be covering some of the ladies in solid red last night, a classic trend we also saw at the Critics’ Choice awards and at the Globes.

First off is Elisabeth Moss in a standard but lovely Michael Kors strapless red gown with a long skirt and thin black belt. I love the subtle criss-cross fabric across the bodice and the way she’s styled, with understated gold accessories and a red lip. This is a knockout look. I also like how she switched up her style from her Globes gown, which was a more risky bronze sequin J. Mendel. Elisabeth was nominated in the lead actress in a tv movie or miniseries, for Top of The Lake. That went to Hellen Mirren, for Phil Spector.

Also nominated for lead actress in Top of The Lake we have Holly Hunter working it in Randi Rahm. I love classic styles and this dress is a win for me. I like how it looks like old school glamour meets modern styling, with her smart ponytail and understated accessories.

I don’t have an ID yet for Patricia Arquette’s red gown, but she is fierce in this v-neck, full coverage crimson number. The gown featured slight bell sleeves, a faux wrap skirt, and a high slit through which you could see her banging platform pumps. Arquette usually kills it with her styling, and last night was no exception. She really makes me want to chop off my hair.

Finally here’s Sasha Alexander (Rizzoli & Isles, NCIS) in Alberta Ferretti. Sasha told Giuliana Rancic during E!’s red carpet coverage that she was the “social media ambassador” for the SAGs. Here’s Sasha’s Twitter account and Instagram. She posted less photos than I would expect, but she was probably super busy.

As far as her gown, this wasn’t my favorite. I think the kind of tube top-look to the bustline and the small mullet effect at the bottom detract somewhat, but it does fit her incredibly.

would be better if the strip at the top is a different color like Natalie Portman’s last year, i think.

  2. Lark says:

They all look nice to me. So I just learned that Sasha is married to Sophia Loren’s son, which I thought was interesting.

  3. Audrey says:

Holly Hunter is my fave. That gown is gorgeous

  4. Kiddo says:

But Patricia Arquette’s haircut hides one of her best best features, which is her amazing high cheek bones.

  5. Marianne says:

Elisabeth Moss is probably my 8th favourite look of the night. It was really pretty and suited her, just not the best look of the night.

  6. Stephanie says:

Elisabeth looks like a human Snow White!

  7. bns says:

    I LOVE Patricia Arquette’s bob.

  8. Cro-girl says:

Elisabeth looks amazing… that shade of red, her skin tone, her eyes and her hair just make it all come together. Stunner!

  9. LaurieH says:

Elizabeth Moss’s dress is a big improvement over her GG dress, which I detested. Her hair also looks MUCH better here (it was atrocious at the GG’s). Holly Hunter looks great, as always. Patricia Arquette’s dress seems to be wearing her. I don’t like the bottom of the dress and I definitely don’t like those clunky platform pumps. Sasha Alexander looks like a bridesmaid.

    All these women look beautiful!

  11. lisa2 says:

I really LOVE Elisabeth’s hair. Not sure about the color, but the style is a big yes for me.

Everyone here looks pretty good. Not overdone at all.

  12. Jayna says:

Elizabeth looks amazing from head to toe.. I love her look and her dark hair. Holly’s dress is so beautiful and flowy in just the right way. she’s petite and it really elongates her. Just a beautiful, classic gown. Patricia looks the best I have seen her in years. I love her haircut and makeup, and the dress is flattering on her body type. I did not like the last gown. It’s not bad or anything, just kind of there.

  13. moptop says:

Holly Hunter looks D-R-A-B, and the Arquette girl is so short that that dress just overpowers her and makes her look shorter.

  14. MrsBPitt says:

They all look lovely…and I like the bob on Patricia, just kinda wish she had side parted it…a side part would soften her face…

  15. Diana says:

Patricia Arquette is gorgeous! love everything about her look. Elisabeth dress seems boring to me, nothing new there.

  16. shellybean says:

Elisabeth Moss was perfection in that dress. She looks so great in red and I LOVED her simple styling. One of my favorites of the night.

  17. Lucy says:

    All of them looked lovely!

  18. manta says:

Elisabeth Moss looks absolutely gorgeous here.

I think Helena Bonham Carter and Angela Bassett (two actresses I really admire) were nominated in the same category as Mirren, Moss and Hunter but i see no picture of either of them. Didn’t they attend the ceremony?

  19. Seagulls says:

Good job Holly Hunter. You look like yourself – beautiful!

  20. A Fan says:

Those blocks of cement on Patricia Arquette’s feet are hideous.

    [When will that trend die?]
