Jessica Butters Up a Mexican Orphanage with Mini-Van

Following in the footsteps of Angelina and Madonna, Jessica Simpson gave a new Mini-Van to a Mexican orphanage this week.

Last week she bought her controlling father Joe Simpson a Ferrari. This week the pop star has handed officials at a Mexican orphanage the keys to a brand new minivan.

The 26-year-old singer/actress surprised staff and kids at the Casa Hogar Elim orphanage in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico on Sunday when she drove a 2007 Chrysler Town & Country through the gates of the home.

I think that giving to charity is good and even if Simpson did it to get good PR, at least she did it.

However, the white trash in me questions if Jessica is trying to “butter up” the orphanage for a future adoption? After all, foreign babies are the latest Hollywood accessory. What do you think?

I read somewhere else, that she had won the car at a MTV award show, and decided to give it to them. Even if she won it, it’s still a good thing though.

  2. Iva says:

Yet another publicity whore – this happened how many months ago and yet she is still trying to milk it. With all her money, she gives away a car she won and this is somehow supposed to be some BIG charity event on her behalf…please.

  3. Mr. T says:

I agree Iva, JS is nothing but a lack-of-talent, looks-like-a-horse-face, publicity whore.

  4. countrybabe says:

I think she has talent, but it look like she’s gone down hill. At least Angie goes ahead and adopts the kids. Stop talking about it and do it already.

  5. Iva says:

Please, the woman can barely take care of herself, let alone take on the responsibility of raising a child.

  6. Bex says:

I thought I had heard of this like, a month or so ago. Also, hasn’t she been supporting this orphanage for a while now?

    ATTENTION HOLLYWOOD!!

THERE’S PLENTY OF YOUNG IMPOVERISHED ORPHANS FOR YOU TO SHOWER YOUR SHALLOW SELF-SERVING PUBLICITY FRIENDLY ATTEMPTS AT PARENTING OVER RIGHT HERE IN THE THE GOOD OL’ U S OF A!!

WHAT IS THIS CONCEIT THAT SOMEHOW EVEN AMERICAN KIDS WITHOUT PARENTS ARE SOMEHOW LESS DESERVING OF LOVE AND NURTURE?? LIKE IT’S THEIR FAULT FOR BEING ORPHANS OR SOMETHING.

  8. Madeleine says:

Hello! In America There Are PLENTY of people to adopt its own kids! in places like africa or asia, its people are too poor to adopt its own kids! their kids end up on the street pushing drugs or worse, dead! The US doesnt need help at least its kids are in nice little orphanages with people that can look after them, in orphanages in africa there are like 35 little babies to every one person, 4 babies will share one crib and there is very little medicine!
So LET THE CELEBS ADOPT BABIES OVERSEAS!! THEY HAVE GOOD INTENTIONS!

  9. vdantev says:

Whatever helps you sleep at night, Madeleine.

  10. Other Karen says:

She won a car, but traded to a mini-van on the request of the orphanage.

I believe she does have a good heart, whatever her other shortcomings.

  11. Carol says:

Lol, thats the funniest thing I’ve read all week Madeline. Obviously you know absolutely nothing about the state of unwanted US children.

  12. countrybabe says:

I don’t think of Mexico as third world, they can just walk over here. I can see Africa or Asia.
Madeleine, Kids here need help too.
Really what is supporting one orphanage going to do.

she actually won a convertible and went to the dealer to exchange it just for this purpose. I think it’s great. sure there are kids here.. but there are kids everywhere, kids are kids no matter where they are. do you think it matters. most likely we have WAY more money and facilities in the US then mexico. I think that was a wonderful thing to do.

  14. daz says:

and the comment “what is supporting one orphanage going to do”. If everyone would be as giving as to support an orphanage instead of stuffing their face full of big macs and ragging on people who actually DO something for others, then we would not have a problem. It just blows my mind. Wow, children everywhere are in need. hang your head, loser.

I think you should cut her some slack.. I’ve been a fan of Jessica’s since her first album before her widespread fame with Newlyweds and if you look into her past she was always has been involved with Casa Hogar with her dad’s church for years with their youth missionary. I think she genuinely has a good heart and her recent fame just made her seem idiotic and superficial. CBS actually did a clip of her visiting Casa Hogar in like 98 or something if anyone wants to Google it.
