Last week we heard that Brooke Mueller was allowing Charlie Sheen to spend time with their four year-old twins despite the fact that Brooke still has a restraining order out on Charlie. Brooke doesn’t have custody of the boys on paper, but she does get to see her sons and make decisios on their behalf since her brother has been appointed their temporary guardian.
There’s much more background to this messy story of course, including the fact that Denise Richards has blocked Charlie from seeing their daughters, that Charlie has a new girlfriend of a few weeks who thinks she can co-parent, and that Charlie is railing against anyone who dare question him, as is usual. It’s worth noting that Charlie has deleted some of his nastier tweets against Denise, and has been calling for a truce, if only at the insistence of his bosses at FX. (Anger Management returns on Thursday, and Charlie will be on The Tonight Show today, Wednesday.)
This is where Brooke Mueller comes in. Unlike Denise, she’s ready to make nice with whackjob abuser Charlie, and of course it’s not for the sake of their kids. Brooke wants her child support increased again. Radar Online reports that Brooke is finding it “very hard to live on $20,000 a month” now that she’s sober. Since Charlie kicked her out of the mansion where she was living, Brooke lives in a condo that is “small” and “depressing.”
Mueller, 36, is “desperate” to have $55,000 in child support re-instated, a source revealed, after it was slashed in half when she lost custody of the boys in the wake of being placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold after a drug overdose in May.
Said one insider: “There is only one reason why Brooke allowed the boys (Bob and Max, four) to go over to Charlie’s house last week. She is desperate have her full child support payment. Brooke is a smart woman and knows if she is in Charlie’s good graces, he is more likely to give her the money.
“It has been very hard for Brooke to live on $20,000-a-month because she has to pay for her sober coaches and ongoing expenses related to her recovery.”
RadarOnline.com broke the story: Mueller allowed the twin sons to spend two hours with their dad and his porn star girlfriend last Tuesday night, following their bitter custody war during which Sheen, 48, labelled her an “adderall snorting husk” who was a danger to the boys.
It also coincided with the breakdown of Sheen’s “Modern Family” relationship with second ex-wife Denise Richards, who he blasted as a “pig” and “media ho” in a Twitter tirade.
A monitor was present for the entire visit, a source confirmed.
“Brooke doesn’t like Brett spending any time with the boys, but knows if she fights it, her chances of getting the $55k go out the window,” said the source.
Another reason for the turnabout, a source said, was Mueller’s “hope” that Sheen will back off his threat to sell a house he owns in the same gated Mulholland Estates community where she has been living.
“She loves living in the exclusive community, even though Charlie lives nearby,” an insider revealed.
“The condominium Brooke is living in currently is very depressing and small. Under terms of the current custody arrangement, dictated by child protective services, Brooke’s brother (Scott, who is the children’t temporary guardian) is the only person allowed to live in the mansion full-time.”
During Mueller’s custodial visits with the boys, which take place several times a week, Radar has learned, she is allowed spend the night in her former home.
Wait, so it’s more expensive to stay sober than it is to waste thousands a week on drugs? I don’t get it. I mean, NA and AA are free. Plus she lives in LA, where she can go to two to three meetings a day if she wants to. She doesn’t need a paid sober coach, she can get a sponsor and build a network of sober friends from NA. This isn’t about this woman’s sobriety though is it? This is about waiting more cash and a mansion. I get that LA is expensive, but I think most people would be able to live very well on nearly a quarter million a year, and put some away for a rainy day. I imagine Brooke’s “small, depressing” condo is probably very nice by most people’s standards.

Brooke needs to get clean first,but I think at one time she was a real estate agent. Obviously she knows how to earn a living,but why bother when you have an ex husband that can pay for everything.

Seeing as I’m currently skint, with a pittance of a paycheque still waiting to be paid and little money coming in in the foreseeable future, I want throttle her till she coughs up enough money for me to pay my rent for the rest of the year.
I make £14k a year and live in a bedsit so small I can almost cook from my bed. That’s the definition of depressing and small.
$20k a month? I could buy a flat with separate rooms and its own bathroom!

Amen! I work full time and make $20, 000 per YEAR and have to stretch that to pay bills and university tuition and oh yeah, a child!!! Sometimes I think about how much easier life would be with an extra $10-15000 per year. This woman is seriously delusional. Everything about her makes me angry; she is such a waste of resources.
Drug addiction is nightmare for anyone, but there is on way in hell you can truly recover when the person who controls your finances is a drug addict himself.
She should walk away from her nice neighborhood and Charlie’s drama, get any job she’s qualified for (living on $20k a YEAR if she has to – plenty of people do) and she might have a chance to get her kids back. Stay in that gilded prison and forget about recovery and/or your kids.

Please let Brooke Mueller disappear into a poof of crack smoke , have a competent person to take care of her boys, and make sure court-mandated sterilization is on the books for Charlie.

Child support is for the children. Not to make sure Brooke stays sober. $20K is a lot of money to not have its spending monitored by a reasonable, responsible adult.
Tell it to people who make 20k or less a year, Brooke. If you can’t make it on over 240k a year the problem is with you.
I would assume it costs more to be sober because you care about your surroundings is you’re not strung out on your drug of choice. She probably didn’t give a crap about how small her condo was when she was high, KWIM?
This whole thing is depressing to me. Why do these ladies let this monster pull their strings for money? Denise makes her own money, why is she acting like she’s beholden to Charlie? Get your own place, pay your daughters’ way (because you can) and stop letting that “man” have all the power.

The very fact that Brooke would allow her boys, to be around someone she has a restraining order against, leads me to believe that she’s not sober at all. Charlie is obviously using and his new porn actress piece, has already proven herself to be delusional, so why would a sober Mother, expose her children to them? Those poor little boys had the only stability they’d ever known, ripped away from them when their Mother refused to allow them to get professional help, while they were living with Denise. Brooke doesn’t give a rats a$$ about those boys. They are her meal tickets and she’s literally willing to sacrifice their well being to get her monthly payments back to what they were. The whole situation is tragic and disgusting.

I think Brooke is what they like to call a “dry addict” or a “dry drunk.” She might not be using, but she still has the mindset of an addict.

Child support is for the CHILD not the other parent!!!!!!!!!!! It is to provide food, shelter, education expenses etc, not her recovery efforts for God’s sake! What a greedy bitch. I am lucky to make $40,000 a year at my job and I live comfortably in my condo with my 13 year old daughter. And this woman can’t live on $20,000 a month; shallow, greedy, selfish are all words that come to mind. In the wake of all the turmoil surrounding this family my heart goes out to those two innocent little boys who seem to not stand a chance in hell at a normal existence. Her kids are better off without her in their life!!

She’s crazy but then again maybe whatever drug(s) she uses may be expensive. Honestly can the court order her into a lockdown facility for her drug abuse and psych issues?
There are so many days I go to bed feeling guilty for being short with my kids or letting them veg in front of the TV instead of doing something enriching just because I want to read a book but man, at least I’m not Brook Mueller, you know? I have that. 🙂

Couple things I wanted to touch on:
1) This person makes more thank I do in two months than I do per year. I live quite comfortably in a condo with my two cats (who are very happy, healthy, and eat better than I do). It’s tight, but one can make it work.
2) I’m conflicted on her statement that life is more expensive sober. For me, it definitely isn’t, but I don’t live in LA. I understand that it’s more expensive to live there (for a non-decrepit POS place to live), but wasn’t she hooked on a LOT of drugs, the more expensive drugs, and doing them with alarming frequency? If so, I would think she would spend about the same amount per week on a nicer place to live as she did on all of her vices while she wasn’t sober.
I make the latter assumption because as I’ve said before, I’m a recovering alcoholic (who would 90% of the time spring for the more expensive booze). While using, I would get paid on a Friday, and a week later I’d be short on cash, and start just ingesting calories via alcohol (no food, just hard liquor) until my next paycheck. Now that I’ve been sober for a while, I actually have a savings account (which isn’t very exciting for some people, but for someone who would live paycheck to paycheck mostly on vodka, that’s HUGE), I can budget efficiently and I have no problems keeping up on all of my bills, obtaining all necessities for me and my cats, putting some money in savings with each paycheck, and even then having enough to go out for sushi once a month.
Someone also said in the above comments that she sounds like a dry addict/dry drunk. I agree – she doesn’t seem to be learning how to live life and work to maintain her standard of living and sobriety, rather she still wants to manipulate to get what she wants.
Heartfelt congratulations on the way you have succeeded in turning your life around! Your cats can be proud to have such a great roommate and best friend! Fighting addiction is hard and harder still if the person doesn’t have a core character on which to lean during the fight upward. Thanks for sharing your story! There have been other people who were able to get off drugs without needing $20k/mo to do so. I don’t believe this story that she needs this & more in order to get clean & sober & healthy again. I think the true story is that she just LOVES being rich. That’s all.
